Our son has purchased 3 or 4 cars here over the last 13 or so years. We (mom and dad) flew out here unexpectedly and needed to buy a vehicle after my husband was rear-ended the afternoon before our 6am take-off. He had to have medical treatment here and we needed a vehicle to use while here (east coast) (15 months) and when we got back home (west coast). So we went to Thompson Toyota and were able a purchase a great new Highlander! We have been driving back and forth every year since with never any problem. Our daughter who lives in Metairie was hit by a hit and run driver and the car was totalled. We were at our sons for Christmas and our daughter flew up too. We checked in with Thompson Toyota and were able to get her into a good used car. And now 2 years later, someone ran a red light and totalled this car. We just purchased a great used Honda Civic with a lot of bells and whistles with her insurance settlement from the accident. Again, great service! They go out of their way to work with you so you can get a deal that is good for both you and them.

Made an appointment a week ago to get my car serviced, dropped my car off early in the morning before work because my appointment was at 7am! By 12o’clock on my lunch break I called and was directed to service desk and was told my car hadn’t even been looked at! So why have an appointment! The lady I spoke too wasn’t helpful at all! She said someone will call you back, we’ll no one called me back so I had to call backing hour later and was told my car wasn’t in yet because they are busy, SO WHY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WHAT IS AN APPOINTMENT FOR THEN! So frustrating! I replied to just no service my vehicle and I would pick it up when I get off! Not the end of the this terrible experience, when came to pick the car up the lady made it seem like it was my fault for stopping the service and tried to frustrate me by saying my car was the next car to be serviced! Unbelievable, not ever will I even ride by this place or consider any service from Thompson! Worst experience to date!

The customer service is very nice, but diagnosing your vehicle and being accurate is another story parts were being ordered though my extended warranty Im paying a deductible for the wrong part and it was install to only pick vehicle up with the same issue. Car was never fixed for what it was taken in for twice.

Worst service center I’ve ever had to deal with. I had an appointment for 10am, dropped my car off early and called back at 3. They never looked at my car, wouldn’t be able to today and couldn’t guarantee they’d be able to look at it tomorrow. Wouldn’t offer a loaner or pay for a rental. So I picked it up after the service center closed and they forgot to leave my keys out. Thankfully I have spares. I would not recommend Thompson’s service in Edgewood.

Thompsons service department is exemplary! Moe the service manager was able to get my 2018 Ram 3500s failed diesel particulate filter (very expensive repair) covered under warranty. Every time Ive been there theyve been extremely helpful and professional. I can recommend them without hesitation!

I’ve been going here for years. They really outdid themselves this time. Had a rough day with my jeep broke down for about three hours. Tow truck never arrived, so with the help of a friend I limped it to the service department.Instead they decided to pull it and then verify it was what they thought. It ended up a simple fix and they had me out in less than 30 min free of charge.

There are several Jeep dealers in Harford County. Been there, tried them. Thompson is the only one I trust to fix my Jeep right, the first time! The service people are always pleasant & very knowledgeable. I dont ever have to worry when I drop my Jeep off to Thompson. Ive been taking my Jeeps there for a long time & will continue to be a loyal customer. And...they give you a free car wash ticket. How great is that! 😆

Place is a joke. Have been speaking with someone for two weeks. Have allMy info and asked to have everything ready. When my wife and I showed they acted like they had no idea who I was The salesperson who I was scheduled to meet with and had been talking to wasn’t there at our schedule time. Then tried to jack the price up 15000 from what I was originally told. I’ve been a long time customer and have bought 7 vehicles from Thompson’s and referred 6 others who purchased vehicles. NEVER AGAIN

My 7 month sale experience an yesterday warranty work service review. Long Read.7 months agoI bought a 19 Charger Daytona Mango (Orange) off the show room floor. I didnt even test drive it. I knew what the Daytona was.The sale experience was pleasant. The financing went smoothly. Final price was good could have been better possibly. But I didnt walk out. I wasnt desperate for a car. I already got 3 other cars. No trade in.Yesterday. I had to bring the Charger. For warranty work. Unfortunately the dealership isnt as big as other dealerships. They dont have loaners. They went up & beyond an rented me car.I feel Dealership & Customer Loyalty is the number one importance. Loaners build that relationship. But they rent me car.From my short-term experience. Would I work for them yes. But Im not looking for a job. Maybe the future.

I went here because it was close to my job. I was able to drop car off at 4:30 am as that is when I have to be to work. Scheduled appointment for 9:30 because they said 1 to 1 1/2 hr to do job. Called at 11 and was told she could not tell me anything my advisor would call me back. At 12:45 my ride took me back up there and they asked why I was there, my comment to get my car. They had not started it because I did not say I was picking up. Had they listened and /or returned phone call they would have known. Then it was 4 pm till work was done. Next morning car would not start. I will never return to this facility.

They took the engine , transmission and steering box that were like new out of my low mileage wrangler , replacing them with very worn high mileage parts . Im betting somebody that works there wanted better for their jeep . Ran like new when i took it there for a few leaks , ran like worn out junk when i finally got it back .

My wife and I purchased a new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited from Thompson Jeep last weekend. Initially, we canvassed all of the area Jeep dealerships. Thompson treated us better than any of the others, so we returned there to make our purchase. We received first-class service from both our salesman, Jay The Jeep Man Patterson, and the sales manager, Stephen Heath. In addition to great customer service, we got the best price from them, as well. I will definitely buy there again and wont waste my time looking anywhere else. Please note this review is to the dealership on the whole. Jay the jeep man was an amazing salesperson, who worked with us to find the right jeep and informative through the buying process. After committing to a price, I took my trade to carmax for an appraisal. Thompsons sales manager said he would match the offer. To me, this meant I would get the additional money. However, after coming back in, the sales price jumped over a $1000 higher because my trade in value was worth more. I said I would not trade in my vehicle, and they then raised the cash buying price even higher. To me, the sales manager is trying to pull the wool over my eyes. Please be aware of this trade in scam when reviewing the bottom line! (Note: I purchased a similarly equipped vehicle at a different location for the originally agreed price)

Cara was awesome!I will start by saying , like most i dont enjoy the car buying process with some not so good experiences dealing with sales! including Thompson! i had bought a car from them 20+ years ago and it was a very painful experience, i must say! Fast forward to 2019. I decided to give them another shot and had a sales women named Cara who was truly outstanding! No pressure, no haggle, just made the whole process truly enjoyable from beginning to the end and that includes the rest of the Thompson team. They were all wonderful to work with and i would definitely recommend Cara if your look for a new or used vehicle in Harford county or in my case a JEEP and i love it!! Thank you CARA!

I only gave them 1 star cuz there wasnt an option for zero. Our family has bought 7 vehicles from Thompson over the last 10 years. We tried to buy a Renegade from them and mentioned our loyalty and asked about a loyal customer discount. The price they gave us didnt seem that great so I called Keene, Adams and Heritage. All 3 of them quoted us a better price than Thompson and weve never bought car 1 from any of them! So much for customer loyalty. Next up, my daughter did buy a Renegade from Thompson 2 years ago, unfortunately it has the engine with oil consumption issues. Thompson basically nursed the car til it passed the 36,000 mile warranty, now they wont do anything to stand behind their product. Avoid the Renegade with the 2.4L engine and Thompson! Avoid them like the plague!

He allowed my six-year-old and I to use their kitchen space for homework/take out dinner as I was getting my Jeep Cherokee serviced! Had my 2019 Charger in for warranty service, minor stuff, TPMS, steering wheel controls, brake rotor scoring, (car had 5000 miles) no problems what so ever. Everything was repaired quickly, no hassle. Also had my 2007 Wrangler airbag recall handled here, also had the clock spring that failed taken care of. Everything was done, no BS!

Today I was called by an agent of Thompson concerning a vehicle I purchased from them and still own. This agent practically begged me to bring my car in as soon as possible, saying that the model was highly sought after and commands a competitive trade in. Despite having no active impulse to sell my car, I brought it in for a quote.When I arrived and provided my name and purpose, the sales team did not seem to know why I was there. I felt that they received me as an annoyance rather than someone who was solicited, by representatives of their company, to come in. After this they evaluated my car and determined (because it had been in minor accident(s)) that it did not merit an offer from Thompson, but indicated that a third-party wholesaler would offer an amount that I considered insulting.The whole affair was a cynical waste of my time, and it has lost them my business for good.

I brought my 13 Wrangler Rubicon in for an oil change and I mentioned I may want to trade it in soon. Got home, decided to call up and see if I could get a trade-in appraisal done while she was in the service area. The appraisal came in just where I thought it should so Tisha and I started talking about what I wanted in my next Rubicon. I thought Id have to order one built, but Tisha and the team at Thompson found one meeting nearly all my expectations and they could make the other options happen at the dealership. It was the quickest deal Ive ever struck!

This dealership does everything they can to get you into the vehicle you want at a price you can afford WITHOUT trying to rip you off! And they give you decent money for your trade in. They did an awesome job getting me a new JL Wrangler. Adams and Jones both told me that I was looking for the impossible Jeep. Called Thompson and they had me one the very next day. Everyone was friendly and I felt like it was a quick process (as quick as car buying can be). The salesman called me the next day to make sure I understood the Radio. I really do not like Thompson. I went in for a oil change. Asked how they were doing on time. I was told that I was front of the line. 1 hour and 40 minutes later I got out of there. The service is second rate and they are slow. The service writer asked if I would like to have my tail light bulb replaced. He said it was $43. I said really? Then said Im sorry its $29. If I had said ok would they have charged my $43.? With the bulb and recommended services they wanted to do they never said anything about my exhaust pipe. Those of you that know about Dodge Ram exhaust problems would understand. Gee they could of given me a price. This is not my first encounter. Dont think Ill be going back. Customer service is dead.

Sales men are very professional and no complain about them, but mechanic shop is complete opposite. I took my car for servicing since I bought the car. I dont know why, they always take more than 2.5 hours just for oil change even when there are not many cars to be repair. I asked them why they taking this long time, their answer was its money. From next time, I will start taking my car to another place. I recommend this place to buy vehicle but wont recommend to go for servicing.

July 2018 - Sadly. Ed passed away. Went to upgrade to a RAM 2500 and sales person told me that she did not like to go back and fourth between the sales manager, that she gets the bottom line price the first time. Tried to negotiate more but did not happen. Two other dealerships worked with me. Purchased from one of those two.-----------------------------------------------------July 2015 - My wife and I wanted to take the time to say thank you to Ed Langmead and Chris Wilhelm. After a week long search and three area dealerships, we purchased two new vehicles on July 31, 2015 from Thompsons. A 2015 Ram 1500 and a 2015 Caravan. These men were not only easy to work, these men were professional and understanding to our vehicle and financial needs. When the vehicle my wife wanted was not on the lot, Ed went and searched for it. None of the other dealerships took the time like Ed. When negotiating the monetary obligation, Chris made it happen with no nonsense. Please ensure that they both view this. Again, thank you!

Do not come here for service unless you’re getting an oil change MAYBE. i feel like jiffy lube offers better service and at a fraction of the price. anyway, i came here to have service done and had documentation of why i was there. my bill ended up being way too much and i was charged a fee for them just to run a diagnostic and find the issue i already told them about!! that’s not even to mention the ridiculous over charging of labor costs to install a $20 part.thanks but no thanks. i won’t be back.

Contacted Thompson Jeep and spoke to Amanda in service concerning various issues with my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I explained that the Stop/Start was not always operating correctly and had problems with the Remote Start. I brought my vehicle in to be checked on 10/1/18. Later that day, Amada called and said a new part would have to ordered and ask if Thompson Jeep could keep the vehicle overnight and I said that OK! The next day Amanda called and said my Jeep was repaired. Amanda was very pleasant and greeted us when we came into pick up my Jeep. She explained all the details on exactly was causing the issues. My Jeep now starts and actually runs better. Everything is now perfect! I really appreciate as always the care and attention I receive from Thompson Jeep. I had been looking for a late-model used car, and I found an excellent low-mileage Mazda 6 at Thompson. I met Obryant while looking over the car. He was polite, knowledgeable, and extremely friendly without being pushy. That seems to be the culture at Thompson, and he is an excellent example.I bought the car on my return visit and made sure I dealt with Obryant again. Everyone was great, but I will note specifically that he has an excellent sales career ahead of him. I enjoyed meeting him and wish him nothing but the best. I will return to Thompson next time Im in the market.

If you value your vehicle don’t let these maintenance guys touch it. If you want a good deal on a car, go elsewhere.I tried to buy a car from these guys. I brought in my written offer from Heritage in Timonium to see if they could match the deal I was getting on a special order Grand Cherokee, because I lived right down the street from here.Not only could they not match it they tried some high pressure sales junk about how Heritage couldn’t make that deal and would end up charging me more or “they’d lose money”. They kept pushing me to buy what they had on the lot that was not what I wanted and would have cost more money for less features. I drove to heritage and signed the line for that impossible deal and my custom order showed up a few weeks later as planned.I’ve been here twice for service and I won’t waste my time again.The first was to replace a heater block cable that wasn’t routed right at the factory and ended up getting cut on the serpentine belt. It’s a simple cable that plugs into the block. They had apparently never seen a Diesel Grand Cherokee and didn’t know how to work on it. I had to go out on the floor to show them where it plugs into the block because they weren’t even pulling the schematics for some reason. They finally figured out how to replace it and then I had to argue for them to just route it properly.I should have learned but when my vented seat kept switching off I went back. I’d drop it off for a day each time and get a different story each time. The first was that a fuse was blown and it needed a software update. The second time a week later when it happened again was that a relay was bad and that was what must have been causing the blown fuses. On the third time I went to Adams Jeep in Aberdeen instead.It took them a few days to retrace and repair what Thompson has done. In their rush to replace a relay they cut and spliced wires and left them exposed and shorting on the seat frame. That would have started a fire eventually. In the end it was a bad blower motor in the seat. That’s it. Simple fix but Thompson was also reporting lots of labor and parts to the warranty system apparently to get paid.Don’t go to Thompson Dodge, Jeep for anything. They aren’t a good dealership or service department. They’re big so they’re ripping plenty of people off that don’t know better but don’t be duped.

Last time I was here I waited an hour and a half and they forgot to put the wheel lock back in my car. I won’t be trying my luck a third time.

I HAVE NEVER TALKED TO OR INTERACTED WITH THESE PEOPLE, NOR HAVE I GIVEN THEM ANY OF MY INFO, YET THEY SOMEHOW HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER. A phone number connected to this dealership has called me every week or two for TWO MONTHS. They have never left a voicemail, and their number is blocked on my phone, yet they persist. I am on the national Do Not Call Registry. Keep it up and you WILL be reported next time, just you watch. Clearly they purchased my info from a third party, so I wouldnt be surprised if they sell others in return. Avoid at all costs!

1st spoke with Julie over the phone. Julie was very friendly and gave me a price that was good enough to get me to drive 1 1/2 hours from Delaware. Upon arriving at the dealership the following day Ed met us with a smile at the door. After a test drive and a short negotiation we decided to buy the truck. I originally bought my 2014 Jeep Compass in November of 2013 from Tisha Felizzola, she was easy to work with, knowledgeable about the vehicles, and extremely helpful.More recently, now January of 2017, I ran into some major issues with my Jeep, I took it to a private mechanic, hoping to save some money, WHAT A MISTAKE. After it breaking down three times from this mechanic, I knew I had to call the dealership. My first encounter was with Don and he started looking into my issue, he was extremely helpful and later that day I had the vehicle towed there. WOW, what an experience, while it was a process (my fault, not theirs, as the other mechanic had put some aftermarket parts on my car) Dan Patzwall, Service Manager, got personally involved in my vehicles issue. I believe after a month of not having my car, having it towed a total of 6 times, that the issue has been resolved thanks to the dealership. They also filled up my gas tank, washed my car and even found some extended warranties to cover costs. I will never take my vehicle elsewhere. AMAZING customer service, friendly and professional staff. THANK YOU DAN and DON, so very grateful for your help and guidance!!

Contacted Chrysler/Jeep customer service to inquire about ordering spare Jeep JK Rubicon Recon floor mats. Was told by customer service they are not available. Drove down to Thompson Jeep and spoke with Joe Pearce in parts. He walked out with us and took all the information. We waited as Joe contacted Jeep and was able to order my special mats. Today we received a call from Joe at Thompson Jeep and were told they came in. Everything was perfect! As usual Thompson goes out of their way to please their customers! Everything started out excellent, but...after the deal was made, all contact was dropped. Was told that I would receive a call the next day, never got that call. I call, and never get through. Still waiting on my call back, still waiting for my appointment for the Truck to get detailed. Long story short, I am absolutely appalled.

*BEWARE* This place is full of thieves and crooks, and their only job is to lie, cheat and steal from every customer that enters through the doors of Thompson Toyota Scion Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Edgewood Maryland 21040. Listen buyers and shoppers and please do your homework and research about these people and please research each of the things that I am going to tell you. Firstly they use a tactic called “Payment Packing or Packing the Payments” (MUST READ UP ON THIS TACTIC). Secondly they use “Stealing the Trade-In”, never ever trade or sell your vehicle to this dealership. Most important remember that every inch and each cubicle/office space there in the showroom has a intercom and listening device installed that goes directly to the Sales Manager and they are listening to every word you say when you are there with your salesman or saleswoman talking and when they leave and you there all alone they are listening to your conversation. BEWARE of any person that has the credentials of being your “Finance Officer”, “Business Manager”, “F & I Manager”, “Loan Officer” they undermine your loss and how they are going to steal from you the customer. IMPORTANT TIP never ever buy anything extra like accessories for your new or used vehicle, as this will VOID THE WARRANTY to your new vehicle. Active Military and Retired Military, the Disabled and Handicapped and especially the elderly. Worst Company every- I will never do business with them again! they are not looking out for anyone but there own interests. I had one oil change left on a contract with them on a vehicle that I sold. They would not honor for another vehicle as they are registered to the vehicle. This information was never provided upfront.No one should ever be required to throw money away but that is exactly what this company did for me.

Mixed feelings. Some visits to the service department are great, others... not so much. I do not like that my most recent visit I went for routine maintenance but inquired about a concern, and was told the the fast lane is not able to evaluate my concern and a follow up must be scheduled (which is understandable but frustrating) and for additional diagnostic fees. Since this, I went to a local mechanic, had the problem fixed for less then they estimated diagnostic fees. Since my repair, a sound my car made for more than a year, which I didnt even know was relevant to the recent repair (which I inquired Thompson about at least a year before) has since stopped. Which means when I did schedule an appointment while still under warranty to diagnose this problem, it could have been covered under the warranty had they not missed the problem. I guess that is a typical practice for dealerships though, as well as tell you multiple other things you can pay them to fix prematurely, just not my cup of tea...

My wife and I purchased a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and we had such a great experience that a month later I went back and purchased a 2018 Jeep Compass. Rick Schofield was absolutely awesome - really went above and beyond for both purchases to get us a payment that fit our budget. Dejuan Stovall and Tyrone Smothers were excellent in expediting the sales process and explaining our vehicles features. The entire buying process was incredibly efficient - Ive been in other dealerships for hours upon hours trying to reach a deal and then completing all the paperwork...not here! We agreed to terms through e-mail and phone calls and when I showed up on both occasions all the paper work was ready to go - in and out in under 90 minutes in both situations! Overall, this was the best car buying experience I have ever had...the fact that we purchased two vehicles from this dealership in the span of a month should say it all. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Awful. Went to get the recall on my wrangler done-when I got there they had the wrong model car listed and an incorrect address. How hard is it to get the information over the phone? When I picked up my car they left trash in it. I also asked them to tighten up my emergency brake and now the clutch sounds crunchy and the brake barely works unless I put it in gear. This is why people dont go to dealerships for service!! Plus they charged me $200 to tighten my brake when it literally took them 15 minutes with a screwdriver-- total rip off.

NO NOT BUY FROM THOMPSON. When I bought my Jeep Wrangler at Thompson in Edgewood, the salesman barely knew how to work a Wrangler. The day I bought from them, I was at the dealership from 12:30pm until an hour & a half past closing on a Saturday. The salesman never showed me how to do anything in the car, all he did was let me test drive it to see if I liked it. The entire time I was there, all he did was talk & rambled on & on about how he used to be the best salesman at a Subaru dealership, & about his jealousy/relationship problems with his girlfriend. It felt like a major waste of my time. He was just trying to keep me there until they were able to dealer trade for the Jeep Wrangler I wanted that they didn’t have. I still didn’t understand how to work certain things in the vehicle, it was much different from my Volvo. The salesman kicked me out of the dealership the moment he handed me the keys to my new Jeep & told me to come back another day for him to show me. I knew how to drive the car & that was about it. When I got home, I had to ask a few neighbors who had Wranglers for help to show me where things were on the interior/dashboard. When I finally brought my Jeep in for him to show me how to work everything else, turns out he didn’t know how anything worked. He didn’t even know how to take the top down or the sunrider panels. He didn’t know where anything was inside the car, he didn’t know how to pair my phone with Bluetooth, & he didn’t even know how to work the headlights. I figured most of that out on my own. And I had to come in a third separate time for the sales manager to show me how to take the top down. I only bought from Thompson because they were conveniently close, & that was the only reason. Also, just as a heads up, their service department will over price you on products/accessories. I went in another time to ask about buying new tires & wheels. Their service manager was quoting me much more than the other places I had gone to for prices. This really pissed me off, especially after my bad sales experience with them. So I went up to Adams Jeep of MD in Aberdeen & told them about my bad experiences with Thompson. I canceled my service contract with Thompson & bought one at Adams Jeep of MD. Adams is much farther away from me, but it was the best decision I ever made. Adams sold me a lifetime warranty/service contract $700-$800 cheaper than Thompson’s limited warranty/service contract. And every time I’ve taken my Jeep Wrangler in for service at Adams, their service department has treated me like a valued customer & have been genuine with me about everything. So if you want to be treated well during the sale & after the sale, don’t buy from Thompson.

Rick ended up putting it as a down payment instead of putting that cash towards the first years lease. as we promised, and shook many hands on. We went over the deal hundreds of times with each of above the listed employees. On top of having a newborn, being out of work due to an accident where we were hit head on (not our fault), former military and college graduates, we have now been scammed, lied to, cheated and deceived. We put our last bit of trust with this money and they lied to us. We took it up with each employee, starting at the bottom. Bobby (salesman no longer there) made us a deal on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo E with Tom McGeachy (sales manager). Jay Patterson (salesman we spoke to on the phone originally about the deal) said he remembers the deal like it was yesterday, but theres nothing he can do. Rick Schofield did the financing. We gave him multiple chances and he lied everyday for a week about what he was doing to help fix their mistake, even offering to re-write the contact and put us in a new car. After being avoided for a week, we decided today, December 12, 2018, to speak to the GM, Ron Filling. Ron said nothing there is nothing he can do and that money is a written in as a down payment on the lease. This was not what we shook hands on. Rick Schofield said he goes to the VFW so we figured we could trust him as a being to friend with the military. THE LIES WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP and WE WILL SUFFER this tremendous loss but will never do business again with this dealership. We will we sure the word gets out about these CON ARTISTS.
