The white “manager” with long hair called the cops on me Bc I wouldn’t pull my mask up from my chin after she literally yelled at me half way across the entire store. Then another employee started yelling at me at the same time. It was 100 degrees in the store. No air conditioning. I was pregnant. I Could barely breathe. The cops would not come~ obviously! She then refused to ring my items up. All completely illegal and it’s a horrific vibe the second you walk in. I haven’t been back since.

These reviews are all true. They wont help unload your donations and are very slow. Prices are ridiculously high. Theyre selling items for $3 used when you can find it in the dollar store for $1 new. All the items are over priced. I refuse to look at clothing because everything is all mixed up in sizes. The main reason for this review is to let it be known the cashier is rude not only to me everytime I go there, but Ive heard her have an attitude with other customers. Standing in line for 20 mins. My arms were tired holding my items because there werent any more carts. By the timeI got to the counter I placed my things down and she very rudely told me to wait and take the items off the counter which I couldnt understand why when I was next. I stopped going there mainly because I dont want to end up hurting her feelings. Her attitude needs to change or she needs to go. Someone someday isnt going to stay quiet and she needs to watch that mouth. I take my business to unique now and a very happy customer with great prices and helpful staff.Wow what a worthless response from the owner. Only mention prices, but nothing about your nasty cashier? I can get over the high prices, but when someone is putting things back down to avoid checking out is bad for business. Not even an apology for your nasty cashier. Must be accepted. Sure says a lot about the whole facility. Ill be getting ahold of the BBB. Hope you can get your act together because I support all disabilities. I donate everytime I check out even donate my goods at least 3 times a year. Truly disgusted.

There used to be damaged boxes but totally new Target items, hundreds of books, arts n crafts. I was sad.

The only staff that is wonderful is WANDA, she’s always polite and smiling, very respectful to all customers and has a great personality overall! The caucasian manager with long hair (she won’t give her name) acts so arrogantly as if she owns the shop, no customer service manner at all and while I was there one time, she was yelling at a customer that accidentally walked into the dressing room that was supposed to be closed, she was yelling at that girl as if she had done a crime. She calmed down all of a sudden when an older adult that was with those bunch if girls approached her and called her out of het bad attitude and behavior towards the girl and she asked for her information. She doesn’t deserve to be the manager of that store. i can see Wanda making a better job than her.

I wish I could give 0 stars. Absolutely AWFUL experience my first time shopping there today. Cashier, who I’m sure is the same one everyone in the comments is complaining about, needs to be let go. Just left this location and I will not be back. As a store manager myself I understand everyone is lacking help but to be treated so rudely by a cashier because she can’t handle running the floor is unacceptable. I was told I could not stand straight ahead in line because she does not look that way, she looks to her right only and she won’t see me. I asked where to stand and she said look up and stand under the sign. I spend thousands of dollars at goodwills a year. Your loss. Store is empty and overpriced anyways.

Goodwill NY/NJ (what thay call the local chapter) is running a scam. There is no oversight from goodwill corporate and its clear you get a better position based on who you know and who your willing to have s*x with. The pastor who orginally created goodwill would be discussed seeing what goodwill NY/NJ is doing with the company. If you actually look into it, goodwill does very little good and there are people in upper management making way to much money from good intentioned donations. Pick any large company and they do the same amount of good as goodwill does. You wouldnt donate to Walmart or lowes but somehow goodwill Ny/NJ has pulled the wool over peoples eyes by pretending to do much more good than thay actually do. Plenty of other places to donate that arnt running pocket stuffing shams. It wasnt always this way but something rotten has happened.

Wow the reviews here are truly AWFUL, & I certainly agree! Ive only been donating to this store the past couple yrs, since I moved here. I stopped during the early Covid times due to obvious reasons, but finally gave them a call to find out if the store was accepting donations (again) - yes, fine, but nothing else said to me... until I got there with my numerous bags... & had to return home with almost everything again! Seems like they would only accept NEW stuff! I ended up throwing everything out - a total waste - but will now try to find another local place. :o(

Never thought donating would be so difficult and unwelcoming but when I came to this Goodwill I soon found out the harsh truth. When I arrived around back no employees were to be found until I had to go around looking inside for one. I kindly stated I have a variety of items Id like to donate that my family no longer uses but are still in good condition. He asked me Well what do you have?. I went into more detail explaining dishes/glassware, electronics, games, alot of random items He said we dont take random items. Didnt even bother to check what I had. Im sure someone could have benefited from what I had. Wasnt even wearing a mask.. All these low stars are unfortunately true.

Absolutely horrendous! I have been to several good wills, and this is by far the worst one Ive experienced. Who knew it would be so difficult to donate items? Ive donated clothing here once before, and even then the gentleman was grumpy. He didnt offer to help take any bags and balked when I asked for a receipt. But I went back today with kitchen items - brand new dishtowels that have never been used, serving utensils, glassware and bakeware, etc. He quickly told me they dont take towels (ok, I get it), and that any glassware/bakeware/utensils must be brand new and in the original packaging. Wait, what?? And then, and this is the kicker, as I was getting back in my car I heard him yell to another employee, Theres another one that cant read! Never. Again. Ill throw things out before I ever go back there, and I had good stuff! Some of it WAS brand new and in the original packaging, but he didnt even take the time to look. IIsnt is the mission of Goodwill to strengthen the community and eliminate barriers to opportunity? Somebody ought to tell their employees that.

Worst Goodwill Ive been to. Its gone steadily downhill over the years. They remodeled recently and now it looks completely barren. Used to be fun digging through the shelves, but now its so empty you dont have to.Clothing they have is not organized in any useful way. Mens jeans were not in any order at all. Mens shirts seemed to be organized by color??? . . . How does that make sense??? Other Goodwills in the area are organized by size, which makes shopping easy.Ive stopped in now and then since its close to my house, but its always a waste of time. The new Goodwill in Hazlet is great, so why is the East Brunswick store still awful even after a remodel? Something is obviously very wrong with the way this store is being run.

I dropped off items for donation today as I have been doing with Goodwill in multiple states over the past 30 years. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. The person that took in the donations, was rude and draconian. He refused to take certain items because of their condition when they were clearly fine. Trust me, I have dropped off worse. He didnt ask if I wanted a receipt and balked when I requested one. When I went to put the other items that he would not accept in the trash bin outside the gate he yelled at me that I couldnt dump them there. He was very ill-mannered to the women before and and after me. I suggest he work elsewhere if he can not play well with others. I will never donate or shop at this store again.

BELIEVE the bad reviews.I arrived at dropoff in back of store and was told that I had to wait outside while they handled the donator before me AND despite being fully vaccinated (and, yes, i carry the card to prove it should anyone ask) I was told I needed a mask. So I got a mask. I behind to unload 9 file boxes of books and when I see one of the ladies I as for a cart. They tell me they dont have carts. Thats an outright lie because I had been in the doorway and SAW a perfect cart for books. Furthermore, 2 years prior I had donated books (different people running the place) and they asked me to use a cart to make it easier on them and I was happy to do so. Then, a second lady confirmed the lie saying they had no carts. You would think people working at GOOD WILL would be capable of treating people with GOOD WILL.I reloaded the books and left telling them they are awful people. I drove 10 miles to a different place in Metuchen.. a GREEN place where I could DROP off my donation and the 2 men there handled the transaction perfectly. There is no reason for people donating goods to be treated like they are causing work for the people accepting the donations.

I went there a few weeks in a row purchasing shirts & kept my eye on a bunch of items (even taking pictures so I wouldnt forget) to see when that specific color would come up on sale. This week the sale color was purple. all the color purple tagged shirts I was hoping to buy were switched to red tags. In fact I went through all the mens racks just to check if there was any clothing on sale. Only 3 ITEMS still had purple tags on them of the hundreds of pieces, that had been tagged differently just the week before. Waste of my time. I LOVE this place. I have been using it for many years. And not every Goodwill Store is as good as this one. (The newer one in Bound Brook, for example, took forever to get off the ground, and was in an area with fewer rich donaters, and more poor buyers, so it had fewer bargains, as a result.) This Goodwill (Thrift) Store, is in a significantly more affluent area than many other locations, here in New Jersey (a very crowded and heavily populated state with both affluent areas and urban hell-holes, and everything in between), and so they receive a significantly greater number of good will donations, than Stores in less affluent areas. And conversely, they have significantly fewer poor people (like me) combing the racks for good deals, so that, over the years, I have found more bargains here, in this thrift store, on 18 South in East Brunswick, than in any other. Now, maybe you like paying full price all the time, for good quality items, like jeans, windbreakers and good suits, but I dont. So, if you are like me, and like finding good quality stuff, at reasonable prices, I highly recommend this particular Goodwill Thrift Store.

Of course, as my family and I begin to walk around I notice not even ten minutes into our visit the lady is LITERALLY standing in the isle we were in just staring. Long story short, she claims it was “because the store was closing soon” however we were not the only customers in the store. There was a five, maybe six party family in the store long before we were “purchasing” a whole cart of clothing and not once did she even walk in their direction. Comparing this to other goodwills I have been at in New Jersey, this is the worst one for multiple reasons.1) It smells terrible inside. As soon as you walk in the store the smell hits you and you just wanna walk back outside for some fresh air. I am being 100% serious, i almost every time leave this store with a headache because of it. Every other goodwill I have been too has smelt great. Please just get a constant automatic air freshener or something please! To add to this, it is pretty dirty as well. I was there a couple days ago and there was spilt coffee in the electronic aisle just sitting there. No employee cared to clean it. The floors look like they haven’t been washed or cleaned since the store opened.2) It is very overpriced - It’s a bummer that goodwill and other thrift stores are starting to higher their prices to get rid of resellers. I thought goodwill was a place to get cheap items and to save money! They have stuff priced in their store for 3x higher than it goes on eBay! What kind of strategy is that!? Once they notice that even non-resellers won’t buy their items they will hang on for dear life.3) Very unorganized and cramped - They have so much stuff in this goodwill in such a small place it is very hard to keep your sanity while here. The aisles are very small to the point where if even only 1 person is in the aisle and then someone comes with a shopping cart trying to get past, you have to either get out the aisle or move against the shelf and let them past. They also have big transportable shelves with stuff they take out the back standing where people walk which takes up a lot of room. Everything is just all over the place and mainly, there is just a lot of overpriced junk. They probably throw away 80% of the stuff they get. From my experience, all the electronics I have ever bought from here had something broken or did not work at all, then I have to return it and get store credit!Almost forgot to mention, they only have one register open all the time and the lines get ridiculous! There are clearly 3 registers at the front! Use them!Hopefully this goodwill can take this review into consideration and improve on certain things, hopefully by getting an air freshener first. There is a lot of potential for it if they do everything correctly.

Dropped off many items at this location. The past few times whoever was taking in the items was pretty nasty. Figured it was a one-off and tried again. Different worker, same nasty attitude. Probably will not come back to this location.
