Really exceptional food and coffee. The presentation is gorgeous and somehow the food tastes even better. I got the weird peanut butter and chocolate coffee drink and it was amazing.Even though the other items on the menu looked amazing, I dont think Id get anything other than the sandwich I got: the Breakfast Wrangler Sandwich. It was exceptional. It has avocado, egg, pastrami, and was on open faced pretzel bread. Incredible.

Came to Beyu Caffe for breakfast because I wanted eggs! Omelets is my go to and its what I got. The omelet was amazing and the pesto was very refreshing. The grits was good but I like my grits slightly salty so salt was added. The toast was just toast. Nothing special but nothing wrong with that. Place is spread out enough for covid. A+ Overall!

We were lucky enough to have discovered this gem when traveling. I had the garden omelet with a cafe latte and my husband had the breakfast burrito with a chai latte. Everything was delicious! They were short-staffed (same situation most restaurants find themselves in these days) but the employees that were working did their best to make up for it and were very friendly and accommodating.

While visiting NC we were pleasantly pleased when we arrived to this venue. Yolonda was the hostess and she was a delight. She was friendly, funny, and fast. We were told that their was a thirty minute wait but she got us seated in about 15 minutes. Our waiter, Darius was a busy young man who wore many hats. We saw him busting tables, mopping (what someone else spilled), wiping down tables, and running orders. He was very informative when answering questions and smoothly transitioned from one customer to the next without making you feel rushed. Good music, good vibes, good atmosphere, great employees!

Two stars because the food wasnt terrible. This is the second time I have been to Beyu and I was really excited to come today because the experience the first time was amazing. Today was not amazing. The wait for two coffees was 30 minutes and two breakfast orders was another 30 minutes. The wait for the check, after I offered my card, was another 15 minutes. There were issues my party was informed about after the fact but we were ignored by our server and the majority of the staff. The tables on either side of us were touched by management but we were not acknowledged. The coffees were lukewarm and one of two orders was wrong. We paid and just decided not to come back but the experience was so bad I am writing this review.

I’ll pass. My experience there was not great. The fact I was visiting from out of town for work and wanted to grab brunch and work because it is a café or so I thought. All I asked was to sit in an area where there was an outlet which there were plenty so I could plug in for work but I didn’t know it took the whole wait staff to get that to happen. The attitudes and talking under their breath for that simple request was enough for me. Their food may very well be good/great but I wouldn’t know. It was how I was treated when I walked in that turned me off from this establishment. Hopefully they work on that

First off, the food was good. However, my enjoyment was diminished by the fact that my take out food order took 50 minutes, more than 30 minutes beyond the scheduled pick-up time, and this was not during a busy time. And then I got home to find that 2 of my orders were missing items. Perhaps things just werent on point just for today, as I wasnt the only irritated person who had a very long wait, but I think this is something that needs to be addressed so as not to take away from what otherwise would be a good experience. Especially with it being my first time visiting the restaurant.

The food was good, the wait for the food was longer than we anticipated, but the worst part of coming here was the amount of fruit flies!! Great coffee and a chill place to study. This coffee shop is in the heart of downtown Durham, NC. Its also is set up for live performances as there is a stage if they want to go in that direction. Very chill on early weekend mornings. They have a good coffee beverage selection and cold brew coffee on tap or on nitro! Breakfast items are delicious although be warned that if the price is lower than the serving is also going to be smaller. We enjoyed the fried chicken English muffin or protein sandwich and the French toast pbj sandwich. These were both on the smaller side. Parking either on street or there is a lot in back that is public parking. Will be back to try other breakfast selections in the future since were enjoyed our breakfast.

Mission of BEYU Cafe is not only to serve wonderful coffees and other beverages, it strives to be an integral benefit to the community (BEYU essentially means be the best you) as well. Prior to pandemic precautions, it was also a vibrant hub for live music, and has remodeled so that the dedicated space for a performance is elevated for even better viewing.Situated in a prime location downtown, patrons can eat in, take out, and have access directly across the street to a public park area with WiFi, tables, benches, shade trees, and a good view for people watching. Occasionally art performances occur there, or at nearby CCB Plaza with its statue of Major, representing The Bull City. The Durham Bulls baseball stadium is in walking distance, as is the DPAC, and the central transit hub.If parking is an issue, use the nearby city parking deck.

I had the Chicken & Toast and a Mexican Latte. The coffee was great! I was nervously curious about the food combo, but it was incredible, and you should definitely try it at least once. It tastes weird with this combo and Im not sure why they include it. Stick to the maple syrup.

(3 stars for the food / 4.5 for the coffee and atmosphere)Beyu is pronounced Be You, and that sense of individual character permeates this cool and comfortable spot. Conveniently located and reasonably spacious, Beyu offers a comfortable ambiance: lively without being loud. This character extends to the menu as well, which features names to remember (Dope coffee specialties, a Chuck Berry Parfait) and fresh takes on familiar dishes (i.e. chicken wings and French toast subbing in for chicken and waffles). Hungry and tired, my wife and I opted for coffee drinks (Mexican coffee and a Carver’s Peanut Butter) and lunch items (Satchmo Po Boy and Shrimp and Grits). Everything was ordered at the register prior to seating, and service thankfully proved expeditious. Both coffee drinks were excellent. The Mexican coffee added cinnamon, nutmeg, and chocolate to the standard brew and made for a bold and rich concoction. The Carver’s Peanut Butter combined espresso, peanut butter, steamed milk, and honey. If peanut butter in coffee causes you to raise an eyebrow, a few sips of this smooth and tasty blend will make a convert of you.Unfortunately, the food wasn’t quite up to the same standard. The Shrimp and Grits used Italian sausage in place of Tasso ham, an odd choice but not a poor one. However, the shrimp were just short of overcooked, and the grits needed copious stirring to reach the right consistency. Thankfully, the flavor still delivered. Meanwhile, the Po Boy – actually, a pair of fried catfish sliders – featured nicely breaded fish, but the accompanying side salad sported dubious-looking lettuce.Given the atmosphere and coffee quality, I would not hesitate to return to Beyu the next time I’m in Durham, but I might think twice about ordering lunch.

Although the coffee itself isn’t necessarily the best in town, the atmosphere is easy going and unpretentious, the staff have always been warm and on top of things, and prices are more than reasonable. Location downtown is great, always lively but you might have a tough time getting parked. You’ll also frequently find unique live music and events here of a flavor and caliber different than any other spot in town that I’ve found. If you visiting Durham and want to get a taste of the town, I think that Beyu is an essential stop.
