Everything you will need for home-made Indian food, you will find it here. The place does not look big but trust me, it is big enough to house everything you will generally want. The people are also super friendly and they will help you a lot to the best of their abilities

Spice Bazaar is a great little family owned shop in Durham. The store is always full and the owner and his family are super friendly. Many times they gave me free foods to try! Really gives the feel of going to a true Eastern Bazaar atmosphere, where you get to know the owner and he gets to know you. Prices are great too! If you are into Indian/Pakistani groceries and live in Durham, this is, or will soon be, your place to go!

This is a small family-owned grocery store. If you start shopping here it wont be long until everyone recognizes you and knows what kind of things you are coming to shop here for. I imagine that Spice Bazaar is the kind of shopping experience that people had in America in the middle of the last century. It is a welcome alternative from the big box stores but the ones that exist right across the street. And theres almost always fresh samosas for sale at the cash register.

Please check it carefully before purchasing any products. I once got amul cheese which had fungus on it which I understand that sometime it slips away from a small business owner to keep an eye on every single product. But then recently I bought potato chips (one you eat when youre fasting) and it has bugs all over it. I personally would not be shopping here but would definitely suggest others to check the product before they purchase

The best Indian Store in Durham NC. It is very good and very neat. And whoever dares say anything bad about spice bazaar, They will know what is the best thing about spice bazaar. The reason why I say this is because he gives free samosas and chai. Both have A VERY GOOD COMBINATION. Then even though they have expired stuff, The owner cares about it and he will remove. James I belive is the name of the owner is the best. Other indian stores I probably give 1 star but this store should get 10 stars if it was the thing.

I generally don’t write reviews, but felt like I should write one, since I see someone intentially trying to harm and bad mouth a small family run store. I am neither a relative nor a family member of the owners of spice bazaar .I have been living in Chapel Hill for last 1.5 years and have been visiting Spice Bazaar ever since. We used to buy fresh chips and samosas every time. We never found that bad and even my 20 month old child likes it .No parent will give bad food to their child. Shop owner always uses tongs/gloves to get samosas and chips. Be assured if anyone use hands I will never buy. It’s a small and decent store and it’s been a good place for people in and around Chapel Hill to buy Indian food items. After reading the bad review below, I feel like the person visited this place several times in the past and looks like had fallout with some one and decided to badmouth. If you don’t like samasos and chips please don’t buy, but there are other people in the community who likes and love to eat it.Anyway, Spice Bazaar please continue with the good work you are doing and bring the Samosas back asap.

Spice Bazaar is a pretty filthy grocery store that sells expired food and the seller over-charges for the items. I asked the seller about this and he was very rude saying that he can sell / charge whatever he wants since there are no receipts / records to keep track of, in most cases. Pretty arrogant and unethical in my opion. I will never come to this store again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

I have been and kinda have to go to this place because this is the only closest place to buy Indian stuff but unfortunately their items are expired and still for sale. The owner is charming bit does not keep record of products that are stale, one year beyond their expiry dates such as Knorr Soup, Chings Masala, packs of Bhelpuri.I hope they are more cautious/conscious.

The storekeeper sells packaged frozen goods that have not been adequately frozen in storage. As a result, the food being sold is sometimes “re-frozen” stuff. When my wife reported this issue to the storekeeper, he made a sad face and said that his shop had experienced a power failure as a consequence of which the entire products being stored in the freezer had thawed out and frozen again. He did not reimburse us for our purchases (approx.. $21) but offered instead two samosas ($1.98) in goodwill. On another occasion, she requested two packets of frozen Aaloo paranthas (potato flat bread); he said he would personally fetch those for her and tried to rip her off by putting one Aaloo parantha packet over a plain parantha packet. Apparently, he had only one packet of the former and tried to fob her off with a different kind of bread. Luckily, she called him on it. During Eid, we purchased a packet of phirni. It was so old, that when we opened the packet the rancid smell was such that we had to wrap the phirni in a separate bag and leave it outside our house. My wife also bought 2 packets of frozen Shrikhand (sweet, thick yogurt) during Janmashtami and found out later that the packet had expired. It tasted like cardboard. Lastly, when we wanted to buy a little bit of plantain chips for the first time, his teenage son was behind the counter. The son looked at his dad and asked him which paper bag to use. The storekeeper replied in Malyalam, use the largest bag and charge her. He didn’t realize that my wife is a south Indian myself and could understand what was being said! The storekeeper has no ethics whatsoever. Do not let him take advantage of you.
