The initial buying experience was great. I enjoyed my salesman and I felt he was 100% honest with me. I ended up having a change of jobs and had a need for a different vehicle, at this point I had moved hours away so I didn’t have the opportunity to work with them again which I definitely would have.When I started working with my new dealer they ran the carfax in the vehicle and informed me of a prior accident that had occurred on the vehicle. This was NEVER told to me buy the salesman at McGrath. Now I owe way more than the vehicle is worth and have little option to move to a new vehicle. I realize I should have been more thorough with the original purchase but I felt I could trust my representative.After posting this review I was contacted by the sales manager Trevor. I would like to commend him for taking ownership of this situation. He was not only apologetic but listened to my concerns. Very stand up and definitely improved my opinion of the McGrath staff.

I recently traded in my 2019 Colorado for a 2021 model and McGrath made the process so easy! Logan was excellent to work with and they were able to move the customizations from old truck to my new one. I no longer live in the Dubuque area but will always try to do business with them again in the future!

Service was acceptable. Met my minimum requirements. However, selling my email address to third party venders is NOT acceptable. My inbox has been filling up with spam ever since the service appointment. Will not be going back again.

Not only was I offered a 1600 dollar check that would come in the mail if upped my parents from 358 to 400 bribery But I experienced a rattling noise coming from the front end. So I called told them and they brought me a loaner. Took them around 2 weeks to fix the issues. Ive had the Jeep back almost 48 hours and there is still rattling. Im highly disappointed and regret going through McGrath dearship. I should not spend 24,000.00 for a car that is falling apart

Had an issue with my Buick Encore and Trevor Bell in service went above and beyond to help me get the problem fixed. Very knowledgeable and very easy to work with. Thought I knew the problem but with Trevors help my $100 fix turned into $9.13. Not so good for the dealership but good for me. If I need anything else, this is where I start.

Bought a 2015 Ford Taurus at Christmas time that They brought a car up from their Davenport store for me too look at. Did oil change in fast efficient way.

Sold cars for quite a few years myself and I was pretty disappointed in the service we received. The sales guy was new and he was a great guy but definitely needed some training. Didnt get a manager really involved until we were pulling out of the lot. My opinion is early management involvement so that way everyones on the same page and shows that more that you guys care about what we are trying to achieve.

My husband found what I have been looking for Friday night and went to look on Sat (we live an hour away) and brought it home to surprise me since I was actually out of town for the weekend! Before he brought it home they gave him a large red bow to put on the truck for me to see when they found out that He had been looking for exactly what I wanted for some time. On Monday night we took it back to officially buy the truck and Tim Temperly was a wonderful Sales guy on the floor that had been working with my husband from the start. He cared for our needs and that meant a lot as my last car buying experience was not good and I really dread looking for a new vehicle when we needs too. Tim made the experience much better this time. I felt comfortable this time around buying a new Truck! My first time purchasing from a dealership and I am happy with the turnout! I worked mostly with Kevin in sales and Peter in finance. While I am new to the car buying process, I feel that I was able to ask the right questions and Kevin and Peter worked with me to get the deal I wanted. They were also flexible in allowing me to back out of extended warranty a day after taking my vehicle home.

The staff were very friendly, knew how to make you feel better about being in unfortunate situations, the work done on my vehicle was phenomenal, and the process went overall smoothly.

I had bought a car from McGrath in August. The day that I was supposed to go look at the car, they had informed me that it had damage from the recent storms in Iowa. When I had gotten there, they told me the damage was almost $10,000 dollars roughly but they would have it fixed like new. So we waited for about a little over a month for my car to be done. When we finally bought the car and signed all the paperwork the guy had explained to me everything except for the extras they were selling me that we were unaware of. When he finally gave me the completed paperwork I noticed that I was buying my car for almost $5000 more than their listing price. When I finally found out that the extra money was coming from the bumper to bumper coverage I had told them that I wanted to cancel that because it raised my payment almost $100 more than what they had told me my payment was going to be. So they told me they canceled it and a couple weeks went by and it was time for my payment to come out. Nothing had changed. Called several times and they said itd be fixed. Nothing.. Went in and signed paper work 2 TIMES now to remove that coverage and here I am 4 months later and 4 payments in getting screwed and still paying for something I DONT have anymore because I signed twice now to get it taken off. It has been an ongoing fight with them and I am not happy nor would recommend this dealership to anyone. They are truly scam artists and you truly need to pay serious attention to every detail that they are marking on their paperwork or you will get screwed over like I did.

I bought a used suv about a month ago and the Marcus was great. Josiah in finance did a very thorough job. This week I had a n issue with my temperature going up and down. I contacted the service team and spoke with Dustin Scott. He had me bring it in and the issue was resolved. Even though the vehicle had no warranty they helped me. I will definitely be going back when my wife is ready to get a new vehicle. Great experience all around 👍 👍

Tires were rotated.I did not want or request.I learned after the fact, that I have to request each time.Previous conversations with other McGrath Employees led me to believe that I could request what I wanted from the Package, including Car Washs.I had 1 more Free Car Wash coming, but no more Oil Changes. It seems now I lost my chance at my last Car Wash. Wait time was excessive, 1 hr..Part of the Reason was that my Tires were being Rotated without my Consent.

Bought my first car from them and only having it 6 months it broke down several times and when i took it to get serviced it had more damage done than when i first took it there. it’s been a year and the car is still not safe to drive. 10/10 don’t recommend

Great experience with McGrath Chevy again. I’ve purchased my last two cars from Dave S. here, GREAT guy!I’ve had problems with our Jeep since day one, due to COVID-19 we weren’t able to come in and have this fixed. One year later about the time our warranty is due to expire we took it back. They ended up, with Dave’s help, replacing four tires for us that were of the original issue when we purchased it. FINALLY FIXED! Fantastic service as well through Jeremy, putting up with constant questions and calls all with a smile!This dealer and it’s people go above and beyond what most others would ever consider doing.

Justin was great to work with at the Volkswagen location, even though it took me several months to decide on what one to go with he was always checking in with me and had great customer service. Also Alfred was amazing and very helpful. Between those two you be great hands to make your next vehiclepurchase.

I scheduled a test drive for one of their vehicles at the Dubuque location with a mutual agreement that the vehicle would be driven to McGraths Cedar Rapids location for a test drive by appointment.  The employee at the McGrath dealership in Dubuque gave me multiple reassurances (the day before the appointment and the day of the appointment) that the vehicle would be in Cedar Rapids for the appointment we scheduled.  Said employee also committed to letting me know which sales team member I should connect with at the McGrath in Cedar Rapids for my appointment (ultimately, this did not occur).  I showed up for my appointment in Cedar Rapids, and the vehicle I was scheduled to test drive was not there, nor did anyone at the Cedar Rapids location have any indication that I had this appointment.  Said employee at the Dubuque location insinuated that I was confused about the scheduled appointment, which doesnt square with the appointment confirmation that I received via e-mail.  All around, this was an inconsiderate and unprofessional experience.  Based on this experience, I cant in good conscience recommend McGrath to a prospective car buyer.

Weve been a customer of mcgrath for 2 years now. Weve enjoyed working with bethany and jake in sales. when it came time to do financing we told curtis, the manager, we specifically said we wanted our loan to go through wells fargo and told him wed walk away with no vehicle before going with dupaco. When looking at our credit report, there was a total of EIGHT HARD CREDIT PULLS! Dupaco was even pulled and not even wells fargo. We wont go to mcgrath again.

Service took a week just to diagnose my car. My salesman was very helpful with the process. The service was overpricing the labor when it should have been covered by warranty. I bought my car 2 months ago, and have already had to take it in twice.

Buying cars isnt always a smooth experience. If you know what you are looking for, thats great. But for me, I was looking to make most out of what my budget. I stopped at a few dealerships in Dubuque to see whats available and I must admit I dont always feel comfortable. Yet, I had the best experience at McGrath. They were very professional, polite, and accommodating. They answered all the questions I had and had booklets ready on hand to give me the specification of the cars I was looking for. It was completely different from what I had previously experienced at other dealerships here in Dubuque. I did not end up getting a car at McGrath since a relative gave me an incredible offer, but I would definitely recommend McGrath. The price was also very reasonable, and the dealership was very willing to work with me. Yes, every business wants to make a profit. But I felt like the staff at McGrath went above and beyond. You can definitely tell that they enjoy doing what they are doing and that is something I can appreciate. Thank you for the experience.

I had a loaner car while my vehicle was in to be fixed. After a certain time of my vehicle still not being fixed, I was asked to return a loaner vehicle that did not match the vehicle they gave me. After telling them I did not have that vehicle, a few days later I got a text saying I needed to return, again the vehicle I did not have. I needed to return it by the end of the day.Texted them back, said I do not have that vehicle as a loaner. They texted back wanted to know where to pick it up at. We went back and forth. I felt they were very rude and I felt harassed as I was at work trying to communicate regarding this issue.They were very unprofessional and looked even worse when they realized they lost a vehicle and I didn’t not have the one they lost!

Terry Wisely helped us find the perfect used car today. We spent most of the day looking at various cars at the McGrath Chevrolet location and the Dubuque Used Car Superstore location and we had our almost 2 year old with us. He was very accommodating and patient and made sure all our needs were met. He was even a hit with our toddler. He made the process as easy as it could be for us.

McGrath goes above and beyond. My girlfriend and I were concerned about going to the dealer during a pandemic. Well I identified the car I wanted on there website and they brought it to me to test drive. I decided to buy it and we did all the paper ahead of time and salesman left the car with me that day. Fantastic effort by McGrath to serve their customers in this very restricted world we are all currently living in.

I have bought many cars in my life and have dealt with many dealerships, but I have never had such a pleasant and relaxed buying experience as I did at McGrath. Mark Updegraff and Peter Wissink were great to work with on the purchase of the new truck. My wife and I moved to the area last year and the team at McGrath treated us like family. I am impressed with the amount of effort Mark took in finding the right truck for me and the professionalism of the organization. In fact, everyone I talked with at the organization was friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this dealership.As an update, while the sales department has been great, the finance department requires additional training. The dealership messed up the loan paperwork using old forms, I had issues with the license plates, and we never received any of the loan information on where to make the monthly payments. I had to return to the dealership twice because of these mistakes in the first month. The loan mistake was not caught until after 3 weeks. We never did receive the loan payment information and had to work with the bank despite repeated calls with the dealership to find out where to make the payment.

My car was towed in for collision repair. Said it would be at least 2 weeks before they could get to it, Gave a loaner vehicle as mine was not driveable. McGrath had it 5 days then called me to say they were too back logged to work on it and I needed to tow it else where and return the loaner. I was to return it with 1/2 tank of gas which is what I picked it up on. Thinking it would be 2 weeks, not 5 days , I filled it up when gauge hit E, then had to return it the next day. So I paid for towing twice, basically donated a 1/2 tank of gas since they wouldnt reimburse and got no service what so ever. Will never visit Mcgrath again nor would I reccomend you. Shame since we had gotten great service in the past when it was Bird!!!!

We stopped in to have a key made for our Malibu. A friendly salesman WALKED us back to parts to make sure someone was there to talk to us. Trevor in parts was very patient in telling us what was involved in programming our key. (We had no idea it had a chip!)

Not A Great experience since McGrath took over from Bird Chevrolet. Mostly the service end has been tipped over and failed to right itself. Its a shame.

DO NOT buy a vehicle from McGrath. I went to test drive a vehicle that they brought from one of there other locations and it went from putting down $500 to hold it to buying it. The finance dept. was very misleading and deceiving on presenting the paperwork, added on a bunch of extra warranties to my loan and do not bother to explain the extra costs. They used the excuse It was getting late. Ran my credit through one credit union then called the next day telling me they got even a better rate for me just have to come down and sign. They never cancelled the first loan application so I was paying double on a vehicle that I dont like. After several emails to PegasusPay (which I was NEVER told about) I finally was able to get my money back on a loan they NEVER HAD. I went up the following weekend after purchasing the Jeep to talk with them and was met outside by the salesman, finance and John. As a single women I felt like they were ganging up on me. John agreed and PROMISED to fix and make right whatever I didnt like. They fixed nothing!!! and brought me back a vehicle that still had brake issues. John even laughed AT ME when I told him about not being able to listen to my favorite radio station! I just pray that a tree falls on the Jeep and I can get rid of this nightmare. I filed a complaint against McGrath with the Better Business Bureau on July 6, 2020 and they have 30 days to respond. Even a 1 star rating is more than generous.

Quick service and communicated the service well

Had a similar experience as described in earlier reviews. Sales process and negotiations were excellent, really enjoyed working with Marcus and the rest of that team. Several issues with Financing, however. Forgot to have us fill out a necessary form and also screwed up the loan details. Made repeated calls to try and get the issue resolved - promises of calls back, but nothing ever done. Finally just worked it out with the credit union myself. Pretty pathetic service - was clear that once they had what they needed (with the previously mentioned missing form), they didnt care about fixing the loan payment error that affected me. Theres too many places that sell the same car, for about the same price, to waste time with someone who puts so little into post-sale customer service. Will never return.

The service department was very polite and told me exactly what was wrong with my vehicle and they kept me up-to-date on what was going on. They had a shuttle vehicle to drive me around while my vehicle was getting serviced so I could still get things done and not have to weight around in the weighting room.

Poor communication. Called 3 weeks ago about a warranty claim on my truck. Said they would get back to me that next week and I am on week 4 with no response what so ever of what is going on. I have reached out to the dealership and people said they were going to pass the message off to the guy who takes the warranty pictures and I still to this day have never got a call. Poor service.

The staff at McGrath were excellent to work with. Our sales person, Michelle couldnt have done anything else to make our purchase any easier. The day we were there, they were the busiest I have ever seen, and yet we were treated like we were the only ones there. The best part of our experience was; no pressure.
