I’m just visiting Detroit for a couple of days to go to a show and forgot my contacts. I tried calling a few eye places around Detroit before realizing there was one in the Renaissance Center. I just walked in and explained my situation to Shanté. She was so nice and helpful. She communicated with my eye doctor back home and was able to give me 3 temporary contacts free of charge. She even gave me contact solution for free. Best experience!

I had the greatest experience here at the Henry Ford Optimize Downtown Renaissance location. The staff and service was the best. I had the most wonderful and pleasant EWC Consultant named Shante, she showed Excellent customer service and went over and above to make sureI had the best eye care and experience anyone can recieve. And I want to say that I am glad that I chose this location and thank you for your great service...🙂

I visited the RenCen location this morning. Shante assisted me with picking out frames. I literally went back and forth, but she continued to service me with a smile. She gave A1 phenomenal customer care. She is amazingly patient!

Very professional and very friendly. The safety rules were explained clearly and we felt very comfortable (this was my wife and my first office visit anywhere since shutdowns). Dr. Maniaci was got us through our checkups very quickly but also gave us plenty of time to answer our (mostly my) questions. Bianca P. gave us great advice on frames and was very helpful after the appointment when I needed my Rx for some custom lenses. We will definitely come back here next year.

We came to OptimEyes in the December rush in the middle of a pandemic - and received the absolute best service ever. The tech we saw was absolutely wonderful and so knowledgeable, the optometrist took time to explain things, and the woman that helped me pick out glasses had wonderful taste. Would def recommend to a friend!

EDIT 8/31/2021: I went back two weeks later and had a great eye exam. I still stand by the poor customer service the first time I arrived, but the second appointment was much better. Amended from 1 star to 3.Original review: Would give no stars if I could. Just came in to try and catch a 4:45 appointment and they told me the doctor was gone and to try again later. When I explained being late by 15 minutes the woman at the front told me that I’d been 25 minutes late (NOT true) and while she was pleasant enough otherwise, there was zero guidance as to where the parking garage is and where the storefront is. I was early but completely lost and missed my appointment because someone did not send the necessary email instructions to me. Even then, the email tells you how to get to the parking lot but nothing about getting in the ren center with covid restrictions. Incredibly upset she insinuated continually it was my fault when I was not communicated with. Left in tears feeling entirely disrespected.

I experienced the lack of customer service at another HF OptimEyes location and I called this location and immediately and professionally experienced the customer service that Henry Ford offers.I have been trying to order contacts for 2 days and the other location relies heavily on the Office Manager for everything. As of this review I still have not heard from them regarding my insurance or ordering my contacts. Very unprofessional...

Came here 2 years ago for an eye exam - all the staff and the doctor were knowledgeable, helpful and super nice. I also found a pair of glasses that fit me SO WELL. Fast forward 2 years... my glasses got stolen, and i cant find another nice pair in my new city. So i call these guys from across the country and theyre shipping me the same pair!! Took care of all the insurance and patient information for me so fast, so easy. Layana J. - the office representative was the most helpful, cant thank her enough for setting it all up for me.

I recently visited this location for a much needed eye exam and new glasses. From the start all communications, reminders and emails were timely and informative. The renaissance location was very stringent on social distancing and I appreciated that very much. The office upheld their social distancing policies as well. Everyone was very friendly, efficient and my appointment went smoothly and quickly. My exam was very thorough and Dr. Ben was nice and explained my results very well. Bianca, who helped me with my glasses not only selected great choices for me, but also walked through my insurance plan to ensure that I was getting the best deal for me. She also explained the rationale for buying a second pair of readers only for when I am reading in bed. I will make sure to recommend and refer everyone to this location. If I could, I would give them 10 STARS! Very professional, very knowledgeable, very customer focused — my entire experience was awesome. From the moment I arrived and was checked in, to the examination, the technician and the doctor were both great. When I sat down with Bianca that entire experience was AMAZING! Bianca knows her stuff and I knew I was in good hands with her as I ordered my contact lenses, prescription eye glasses, and prescription sunglasses. She and the entire staff were all just wonderful. I left from there feeling much better than I came thanks to them!

Excellent service from setting the appointment, I had the advantage of having a proper expectation of the visit experience with both a reminder call and email. The greeting was warm and friendly, I dont take anything for granted, the space was bright and as clean as surgical implements. Dr. Maniaci was pleasant, concise, and left me satisfied with an overall understanding of the health of my eyes both stand alone and juxtaposed to my peers. The star of the visit was Shante she took the drs script and turned it into fashion, she was fabulous. Thank you Shante, my eyes were dilated and you took your knowledge of facial shape and frames and curated a narrowed down few choices for me to choose from, just what the customer needs. Then, Ms. Shante introduced me to the concept of polarized lens for my sunglasses, if you are not wearing these sorts of lens, please see Shante immediately and let her change your life. I look forward to picking up my new specs and coming back next year. Lastly, my parking ticket was validated and I was on my way. Wonderful visit. Highly recommended.

I have been going to HFO at the Ren Cen for 8 years and have always had a terrific experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, with a wide selection of glasses and sunglasses to choose from. I have had multiple great experiences here. At my annual appointment and eyeglass fitting, Bianca was so helpful and made the glasses ordering process easy. Then, when I recently had a sudden, painful eye injury, the office staff got me an appointment first thing the next morning. Dr. Maniaci was fantastic; he was very reassuring and made sure I understood my treatment plan. It was a scary injury for me and I am so thankful for everyone at this office for taking such great care of me. Definitely recommend!

I LOVE my eyeglasses! Even more than my glasses though I love the service I received from Bianca during my visit to Henry Ford OptimEyes. I have been wearing glasses over 40 years and have never had the kind of care and service in the search for eyewear as I received from Bianca during my visit. Her attention to detail and willingness to challenge my comfort zone with eyewear was so appreciated AND NEEDED. Finally my eyewear fashion is more closely aligned with my overall style. The staff I worked with were extremely helpful. They did everything they could to help me get my glasses as quickly as possible since my previous pair had broke. They called the lab to ensure the lenses I needed would be available and put a rush on my order. I received my glasses much faster than anticipated.

I visited Optimeyes at the Ren Cen in early August 2020. I had an eye examination, got a new prescription and got three pairs of new glasses.Everything about my visit was remarkably pleasant. The level of care and service was exemplary. I saw Dr. Renfro who was covering from the Southfield location. He and his optometry assistant were great.Bianca helped me find new glasses. Friendly. Made me late to work by not being ready for my appointment, but very nice, friendly, gentle and professional. They were not ready for me at my appointment time, but more than made up for it with a great cup of coffee and intelligent conversation. The exam, the lens selection and the rest were all great. All in all I give them high marks.

Dr. Maniaci is a real professional. Very friendly and patient. Also, loved the staff (cannot remember everyones name) who guided me through all of the various tests. The ladies were great! I loved the espresso - it made me feel like family! Great experience!

I love this office and the staff. Its always well kept And Im always greeted with a smile. This has been my office for over 2 years and Ive never been disappointed. I dont remember everyones name but all the ladies are great, friendly and accommodating...at all times. The manager Joel has a fantastic team. If I call or visit Im always treated with the utmost respect and any issue I have is always resolved. My glasses always arrive within 2-3 days. I just highly recommend this location so everyone can experience superb sevice.

So, I really only visited this location because it was convenient and I needed to get an update on my prescription asap. When they handed me my prescription, it looked incomplete and quite arrogantly demanded they take another look. They were kind and trying to help me understand. In my head, I was like, I knew I should have went to my regular optical place, I just couldnt get out there. I was disappointed nevertheless. But when I put my glasses on with my Henry Ford prescription, I could see so clear. Turns out that I had been misdiagnosed for the past three prescriptions. This new perscription has never felt so comfortable on my eyes. Lets just say, I now where my glasses throughout the day and sometimes forget that theyre on because the prescription is so clear. Thanks a million!

First Id like to preface this by saying that I dont like to leave negative reviews or do so very often. But I really needed to share my experience here in the hopes that somebody out there will see the problems and maybe make some changes.My husband and I came here to get our eye exams and purchase contacts and glasses.The pros:Very convenient location. Close to our downtown home. The staff are friendly.The cons:Very pricey.Although they are friendly, the staff were not knowledgeable.They misinformed us about our insurance benefits. They told us if we used our benefits on contacts, frames would not be covered. This is just not true for our insurance. I understand they were trying to be helpful, but Id rather they told me they werent sure how our benefits work than give me false information. We could have gone on our merry way and completely missed out on the frames. Despite calling back to correct them on their mistake, the manager still took a day and a half to figure out very simple insurance benefits which took me literally 10 minutes on the phone with my insurance provider to find out. He had to apparently call multiple departments but really he just needed to call one number.. my insurance provider.Furthermore, I had called to ask about the index # on lenses we had ordered from them. Instead of verifying the number, the girl on the phone told me they were 1.67 ( they are actually 1.61), a number which I later found out to be very incorrect, only after the glasses had already been made. Because of this, we had to go back and get the correct index lenses which took another week or so.On top of all this, the doctor even gave me the wrong prescription! I got my glasses, tried them on and immediately knew something was wrong. I could tell that one lense was actually blurrier when I put it on than without. I called the store and spoke to the manager and asked if it was possible they had keyed in the wrong prescription. He assured me that there was no way that could have happened. So I had to come in yet another time to get my eyes rechecked. After a little testing even the doctor admitted that because the prescription was so off, he had probably keyed in the wrong number for my prescription. Again, more time and energy wasted because of the carelessness of the staff here. I had to order another pair of glasses, wait for those to be made, on top of having to take time out of my day to go in to get my eyes rechecked.All in all, I think the staff have the right intentions but they just need to up their game. I appreciate them being patient with me all those times I called back (which was a lot). But a lot of the back and forth could have been prevented if they had given us the correct information up front. When you make such an expensive and important purchase (we spent nearly $800 here!), you want to feel comfortable and happy with what youve bought and you would want to have trust in the people youre purchasing from. However, because of this experience, I simply do not feel that way because of the staff here. Although, I can say Ive learned quite a lot about how vision insurance and lenses work because of all the research I had done to check everything I heard from them. I dont think well come back here again.

This place is AWESOME! this was my first time going here as I had been going to the same eye doctor for years. I am so glad i switched. The ladies in the office are super friendly and professional! Shante Wills was awesome. I told her how much I wanted to spend and she helped me pick out the perfect frames. Dr Maniaci is awesome. He checked my eyes very thoroughly. I was honest with him in telling him that I dont take my contacts out as much as I should and he assisted me with finding the most cost effective contacts and checked to ensure that I had not damaged my eyes. I have worn contacts for years but never fully understood how to care for my eyes or my contacts before. Dr Maniaci explained everything from top to bottom. When picking up my glasses Joel was friendly and assisted me with fitting/tightening my glasses. They staff was just very awesome and definitely made me glad I made the switch. Theyve gained a life long customer!
