Absolutely the most overpriced and horrible liquor store Ive ever been in. $36 for a bottle of vodka that cost $18.99 anywhere else. Highway robbery at its finest. STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY.

Owner is a complete sleazeball!! Prices aren’t listed anywhere in the store! Was in a rush so stopped here on the way to a buddy’s to buy a bottle of espolon and it wasn’t in their tequila “section” so I asked the sleazeball owner if they carry it and he grabbed one for me and rung me up. The sleazeball didn’t tell me the price until he charged me gave me receipt my back for $46 dollars. After asking if I can return this because I can go down the block and get it for $18 and the price wasn’t listed anywhere. He then asked me to leave his store. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LIQUOR STORE AND DONT SUPPORT THIS SLEAZEBALL OWNER

The older lady who is behind the counter owns the properties on both sides of the street. All in need of repair. She could care less about the neighborhood.Large graffiti tagged last month in front of her liquor store. I went in to ask her if she was going to clean it up as it degrades the neighborhood.. We live here. She laughed and said the city will do it. She is next to the Ace Hardware. A $5 can of Goof Off and 10 minutes would have done it. It took almost 3 weeks to have it removed.Now she has a broken window on the front door. That should be taken care of by next year. Dont shop there. Bad neighbor. Would score a ZERO if it was available.

In agreement with everyone else, I just spent $30 on a box of wine. The owner mumbled the price so I didn’t think anything of it until he handed me the receipt. They have never worn masks. They know people will continue to stop in as long as they are located in the middle of Capitol Hill and are not all worried about your opinion.

This is truly one of the worst liquor stores I’ve been to. 80% of the shelves are straight up empty, terrible selection of just about everything. Extremely old, dirty, and out dated. Cashier had Fox News on the TV and of course no mask. So much potential in such a great location just straight up wasted

I would give 5 stars because Christmas Eve they let me in after closing to purchase my holiday beers. 4 stars because I called earlier in the day to ask when closing was, which was 10pm; but they were closing at 9pm. It took me calling and explaining my situation. I’m just happy they will accommodate.

I think the overwhelming majority of comments are the sadly honest reality. As harsh they seem, they are deserved and should be expected. I too advocate for and support small business anytime I can, but think about this --- almost all liquor stores in Colorado are independently owned, hence the law barring supermarkets to carry alcohol over 3.2%, so that argument doesnt hold water. There are many, MANY other options (especially in this area) of owners doing fair business with employees that are consistently friendly and helpful, therefore very appreciated and get their well deserved success and 5 stars!

The recent settlement highlighting this racist owner is reason enough to not give this story my business ever again. Even before recent events, products have been overpriced in general, and the rung up prices vary every time Ive bought something. Its as if they charge you based on your appearance and their particular mood that day. Plus, the selection is very limited. I highly recommend supporting another one of the neighborhood stores.

I went in here with my boyfriend and the cashier made so many inappropriate sexual comments about my boyfriend getting lucky. I couldnt believe it - I felt so dirty walking out of there. I will never go back, and wish I had never given a cent to this store. The owner needs to train employees in basic human decency, especially toward women. (The older woman who works there is nice though, and I feel bad that she has to suffer that poisonous environment.)

DONT GO HERE. It is horrible. There are no prices on any of the shelves. WHO DOES THAT? Better yet, who buys anything from a merchant unwilling to display their prices. What do they do... make prices up on the spot? How would you know if they do or if they dont?Here is the thing.... the employee (cant tell you who because I would not want to get them in trouble) explained to me that most six packs are $10.00. They jack their prices and dont post them on the shelves so you have to take it to the counter to figure out how overpriced everything is. Service and selection are fine, but there is no way Ill be back when their are so many other great (cheaper) options in the area. Overpriced/Dirty/Scam warning: Ive only ever gone in here because I live a block away. But this place is awful. WAY over priced, sometime double the price of places literally blocks away. When I shopped here a few weeks ago, I was disappointed to find a small, over-priced selection. I ended up walking away with a way-too-expensive 12-pack of Modello. The staff was also rude when I checked out. I had already decided not to shop there again, but after hearing recently about the owners racist business practices, I decided to leave this review.Skyline Spirits is a fine liquor store, only two blocks north, with good selection and friendly staff. Both times I have purchased products from this store I was overcharged by 30% on average. $10 for a 6-pack of Corona the last time around. There are no price listings for a large number of items (everything in the coolers, as far as I could tell), for the likely reason that the owner/operator can easily overcharge people.

Capitol Hill Liquor continues to mislead and trick their customers by not displaying prices on anything as well as at check out. I wanted to love this place since its down the street from my house but I will never give them another dime. We had gone in a few times and purchased the same exact 6 pack which had 3 different prices over the course of 2 weeks. I had read the reviews but didnt want to believe it but now I do. We make sure to tell any of our Airbnb guests to avoid this place because of their very shady practices.Additionally, the owner owns the entire building & the one across the street (Ace hardware, Namaste, Great Frame Up) both of which are clearly in massive disrepair. Ace Hardware, which is an awesome btw, has to keep plastic sheets over their shelves because of the leaking roof. This owner is greedy and should be ashamed of themselves.
