I highly recommend Dr. Melzer, she was timely, personable, and did an excellent job explaining diagnoses to me. She didnt seem rushed and had a great bed-side manner. Her technician and receptionist were also friendly and knowledgeable, especially the one in the blue scrubs. I personally despise the eye doctor and know the importance of getting a good provider. While I cant speak for the other doctors at the practice, it was great to find one that made me enjoy my visit- plus, she knows a lot about bees! I asked for a fun bee fact and she delivered.

Dr. Stephanie Melzer is fantastic just like her dad. My family and I have been going to the Melzers for 15 years. I find the technicians to be extremely helpful and professional as well. The rest of the staff is typical for a medical office. The optical store does a nice job too, real happy with my Ray-ban sunglasses.

I am sure there are other doctors there that have a better demeanor than the one I had. This was my first time at this office and the doctor wasnt friendly at all. When I checked out the desk clerk said we have had complaints on him. She attached a business card of one of the other doctors and said, you will like him. So disappointing, when I left, I didnt even know the results of my exam.

Im going to be looking for a new eye doctor as of today - if I could rate this practice as a minus 10 I would. Ive been coming a little over a year since my other doctor retired, and I absolutely love Dr. Melzer. She has a great doctor-patient manner and has always treated me with the utmost respect, concern and great demeanor. It is the rest of the office that is a total hot mess. The front desk staff is extremely rude and disrespectful, and dont even mention the contacts department. If they EVER respond to you, which they dont unless you make repeated calls, Julie is completely rude and disrespectful and frankly, Im not going to pay an office practice for their office staff to treat me that way. There are other doctors out there who are just as good and are appreciative of the patients they treat. And dont give me the excuse that due to Covid, blah blah blah. That is ridiculous at this point. We have all been having to deal with Covid for over a year now and will continue to have to do that for the foreseeable future. Covid is no excuse for being rude and totally non-responsive. You need to get your act together and start behaving like a professional medical group! Like someone previous to me said, there is a reason that there are so many one-star ratings. Do yourself a favor as a patient and go somewhere where you will be treated with the professional courtesy you deserve!

THE NASTIEST PEOPLE EVER! I would have given this review fewer stars if it were an option. The office staff was unbelievably rude from the moment we walked in the door. While in the exam room, I could overhear the staff in the back making very inappropriate snarky comments about patients and laughing at them behind their backs. It was demeaning and debasing behavior coming from a medical office. I couldnt believe it. After the office exam, they refused to explain the diagnosis or even acknowledge it when I called to ask them to revise their insurance submittals. When I confronted Dr. Keyser about this he was contrite but seemed helpless. Now Im wondering if I should file a formal complaint to the Colorado medical licensing board? There is a reason why 20 out of 30 Google reviews are only one star. My advice is stay away.

Run from this place. My experience has only been for LASIK, as for their other services, I cant speak to. Had numerous issues getting LASIK set up in the first place, from them putting my prescription in wrong and telling me I didnt qualify, to having to pay 100% of the cost upfront before ever speaking to the doctor, to the tech forgetting to give me the valium at my pre-op so at the surgery center I was told that I would have to suffer through without anything. My prescription is now WORSE than before the surgery, not to mention that I see rainbows at every light I look at, and suddenly have a sever astigmatism that makes driving at night difficult. Ive complained about these issues and every time the Dr says Youre right on track! Right on track for what, total blindness?! They refuse to do a comprehensive eye exam or give me my new eye prescription. I had to go to an outside eye doctor office and pay out of pocket to have an actual exam done. Not to mention that they ran out of the steroid eye drops to give me for the inflammation causing the rainbows (which should be included in the cost of the surgery) and wrote me a prescription for an eye drop that cost $132!!! I wish I had never had LASIK, worst decision of my life. RUN RUN RUN.

This is a review about the outstanding experience Ive had with Dr. Jason Jacobs - And the whole incredible team at Colorado Ophthalmology. Now with regards to cataract surgery in both eyes.. Having been unsatisfied with my previous Ophthalmologist, I began a rather desperate search in earnest for a doctor that truly listens and especially someone I could trust. Based on five star reviews, a hunch and and a referral from a doctor I have known for over 30 years, I was fortunate enough to make a decision to go and see Dr. Jacobs and the staff at Colorado Ophthalmology to remove my cataracts, and consult with him as my situation was more complicated than most people - due to something called keratoconus. From the get go, Dr. Jacobs formulated a plan to do surgery on my eyes for the cataract problem and simultaneously deal with the keratoconus complications. The results have been phenomenal: no more cataracts, 20/20 vision in my right eye (With scleral lens correction) which was legally blind, and now one day after my left eye cataract surgery I am seeing 20/40 with no correction and no pain whatsoever. I fully expect I will see 2020 with scleral lenses In both eyes - all recommended by Dr. Jacobs. I have been so impressed by his work that I insisted my wife to come in to Colorado Ophthalmology and she is now seeing without glasses completely pain-free - And no more cataracts! So in our household within a seven month period we have done all four of our eye cataracts removed and replaced with perfect results - Thanks to the professionalism of Dr. Jacobs, Dr. Frank, and the well-honed staff of Colorado Ophthalmology. They were also willing to work with my health insurance and we did not pay extra for a special lenses. Believe me when I say it is a miracle - they simply have retooled our vision in the best way possible - for the remainder of our lives. if you are looking to get your eyes taken care of by professionals that really listen, care and know what they are doing (better than anyone else in the Denver area), do not hesitate to make an appointment and go i

Everyone was kind and helpful. The optometrist’s assistant, Nancy, was probably the best health care provider I’ve ever had. She was comforting and professional, always explaining each test before she would administer it. As a new patient without an existing eye/health record with this clinic, Dr. Keyser was helpful in finding me a new prescription and brand of contacts. He wrote me prescriptions for two brands to try for free, and offered to find me a third brand if I was not comfortable with these two options. All around detailed, patient-focused care!!!

100% would not recommend going there for any medical reason. If you need eye drops, glasses, or contacts sure go ahead. If you have any medical reason, I would specifically say to stay away from Dr. KEYSER. Does nothing but disregard your issue as something else. Offered me the same eye drops TWICE after I said that it didnt help the first time, then proceeded to give me some other eye drops that were less effective for whatever he thinks it is. I KNOW, he THINKS.. Not coming here again

This office has no respect for the patients time. My appointment yesterday was for 3:15 pm. I left work early and arrived 15 minutes early as requested. At 3:45 with still no explanation I was still waiting to go back. I asked the front desk staff how long it was going to be. After 5 minutes she came back and said it would be another 15-20 minutes before I could be seen. When I told her I could not wait that long she asked if I would like to reschedule. Not with this office. I will find another doctor that respects my time. I have been bringing my daughter to this office for six years at the recommendation of a friend. When we first started here they were great but in the last two years the service has gone downhill. My daughters last appointment was pretty much the same. They also take days to respond to emails and take several reminders just to get you prescription emailed to you. As of this morning I have a new eye doctor for me and my family.

Ive never had a problem with any of the doctors, but every time I go there they try to tell me that I dont have insurance and Ill have to pay out of pocket. I have VSP and Aetna, and Ive checked multiple times with both and they confirm that Colorado Opthamology is covered under my policy with no deductable. I dont know if it is a clerical issue or if they are trying to fleece me but it is incredibly frustrating and unfortunate that they dont want to acknowledge my insurance.

I have been going to Dr. Keyser for a few years now and absolutely like him. The problem is dealing with the rest of the staff. After my last interaction with Julie of which she was rude and condescending, I made up my mind that I would not be returning to this office. Since then, I have been requesting my prescription for contacts for over a month and being told someone would email me back with it. I finally asked America Best to call and fill my prescription and Colorado Ophthalmology declined to give them. I just had a full check-up in April and a follow-up in July of this year. I would suggest finding an office that respects you and won’t treat you like an inconvenience. I might have to find another doctor and pay out of pocket to get yet another exam just so I can have a prescription only 4 months after being to Colorado Ophthalmology. This has been a horrible experience.

Worst place i’ve ever been for eye care. the nurse or doctor did not wipe down any of the machinery before i put my face near, which is extremely unsanitary. i waited over twenty five minutes to be seen. dr keyser was rude, cold, and didn’t explain absolutely anything while he was touching my eyes and putting drops in. all of a sudden my eyes were numb from the drops and i couldn’t see very well because he also dilated them. i understand these are normal procedures but it would’ve been nice to know what was happening to me before my vision became impaired. the lady at the front desk did not give me any sunglasses to wear as i drive home with dilated eyes and did not bother to mention that you should never drive if your eyes are dilated. the contacts office was rude and unhelpful and so was the eyeglasses center. man at the eyeglasses center was condescending and gave me no useful info. never going back here and will never recommend to a friend. wish i read the reviews (which are almost all bad) before scheduling an appointment here.

Great doctors and assistance with exams, giving 3 stars for the less than savory, extremely rude, and abrasive attitude of Karina in the optics department. More than once, I’ve called to inquire about my glasses order only to be cut off mid sentence and talked down to for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I’m polite and patient, I work with people on a daily basis and know what good service is. Karina is the absolute worst, clearly hates her job and the people she serves... be sure to ask for Jim, he’s helpful, kind, ready and eager to assist. Never have I ever been so disappointed with customer service than I have been from Karina in optics. Next time I’m in, I’ll be asking for a supervisor to speak with about her awful and disgusting attitude towards people who don’t deserve it.

In 10 years of wearing contacts with several diff eye doctors, ive never had this issue. Also, dialated my eyes without warning/asking, just said lean back and put drops in my eyes (at 10 am and i couldnt go back to work as planned)

Please save your money and go somewhere else!!! Ive found the office staff to be brusque and unfriendly - just short of rude. The ophthalmologist I saw appeared to have very little interest in me or my eyes, and he gave me a bad prescription. It took no less than seven phone calls to get it fixed, and I actually ended up relying on the office staff because the doctor did not return my calls (six messages I left!). These people really do not seem to care about anything but moving people in and out like cattle. If you want friendly, personalized service from people who are genuinely concerned about your well-being, look elsewhere.

While I will purchase new glasses this year it WONT be from this place! The individual, Jim that works in their optical center is an extremely prejudiced person. And a low-key racist. Numerous times during my visit he made negative, stereotypical comments about the glasses I wanted to purchase. Blubbering on and on about not wanting to be offensive, but repeatedly making comments and judgements about race, and social class. When I told him I was browsing and probably was not going to purchase that day he turned nasty and sour. And started tossing glasses on the table! I would NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS PLACE! Jim needs to be FIRED IMMEDIATELY

Dr. Keyser made me extremely uncomfortable as a woman (yes, I know I was given a traditionally male name, long family story). He wouldnt perform the imaging I was there for. Dr. Keyser found every opportunity to ask me to think about when you were a little girl. I am in my 30s. It started to feel excessive and inappropriate. Dr. Keyser told me that I didnt have the diseases that I was previously diagnosed with, but instead simply have a lazy eye. That is so dangerous to tell a person. Instead of performing the imaging that I was referred to him for, he wrote me a wildly strong contact lens prescription even though I told him mine was fine, but I just needed a fresh script. I got the feeling that as a young, fit woman he was ensuring a return for a more appropriate prescription or the original imaging that was supposed to take place. In front of me, Dr. Keyser was condescending to 2 of the 3 female employees in the office. This just is not a professional office.

Dr. Patterson performed LASIK in both eyes in 2015. I was left legally blind on my left eye due to Dr. Patterson causing my cornea to detach. Six months of not being able to drive and I had to defer a semester of graduate school due to his incompetence. ZERO follow-up from his office or from himself. He told me this happens one in ten-thousand cases. Should have bought a lottery ticket, since it happened to me. You would think with this destroying my life that he would follow-up, send a note, a card, something. NOTHING. NADA. Could not possibly care less. Hired an attorney and there just isnt any recourse. Sorry to have left you blind, but we will keep your money and continue enjoying our own lives. I waited a LONG time for him to right his wrong and now I am ready to speak VERY openly about how he has ruined my life and for ANYONE ON THE FENCE ABOUT DOING LASIK DO NOT DO IT. I didnt have dry eye prior and now I have chronic dry eye and constant irritation, not to mention not being able to see. Oy vey...

I had a very poor experience with Dr. Ammons. The process of getting a LASIK or PRK surgery takes about a month and a half – including around 3 appointments in Denver and being outside of your contacts for 2-3 weeks ahead of the surgery. I went through all of that and the day before my surgery Dr. Ammons gave me a call to let me know he didnt think I was a good candidate and wanted to cancel the surgery. Im comfortable with his medical decision, but waiting until the day before meant I was now stuck with a hotel reservation in Denver that I could no longer cancel (because it was the day before) and a fully paid for procedure that I now needed to be refunded. This call did not happen the day before, I even tried to call Dr. Ammons the night before this and he never returned my call. All in all he was extremely disrespectful of my time and he handled the situation very poorly. The rest of the staff were good, but I would not recommend Dr. Ammons to anyone and I would just be very careful that this doesnt happen to you.

Absolutely horrible service, Ive been there 2 years in a row and I have to wait at least an hour past my appointment time and the medical staff has no idea what youre doing the doctors are sarcastic and can be! This is by far the worst service Ive ever received. Also Im on a medication where I have to have my eyes checked every 6 months and I didnt even get a reminder call or anything in the mail. Out of all the specialist I deal with this is definitely one of my worst experiences. I also sent my husband there to get his eyes checked and they told him he needed glasses for the rest of his life and how to pick out a pair of expensive glasses that we couldnt afford. And didnt tell him how much they would cost. Along with that they rushed him out the door because they were closing. When I went in to complain about this the issues were simply pushed away and denied. Do not go here.

My elderly grandmother has been a client of Dr. Keyser for as long as I can remember and she was always very fond of him. However, these last experiences are disturbing, mostly due to the inconsiderate and self involved management and office staff. My grandmother was mailed reminders at an incorrect time, scheduled during rush hour though they knew family would need to take off work and drive across town to bring her to her appointments, then ultimately, she was sent away from the doctors chair after arriving without so much as an apology from the office staff for the mix-up. My grandmother was very confused and slighted by the experience as she has been a long time patient (+10 years) and she had to reschedule this appointment three separate times due to needing to coordinate a ride--none of those times which the staff was able to notice that it wasnt yet time for her check up by insurance standards. To top it all off, the business manager refuses to return calls and her staff cant seem to remember who my grandmother is or why any of their incompetence, rudeness or lack of empathy would upset me or their patient. I hope the doctors here reconsider their office staff. I cant imagine how unscrupulous their billing practices must be as they are apparently unable to coordinate care correctly and even schedule check-ups. This customer service is appalling.
