Me and my dad have been going to All in a Dream for almost twelve years now and have no plans of changing anytime soon. Prices are more than reasonable and the selection of trades, graphic novels, and back issues is quite extensive. I always enjoy my conversations with the owner, Ray and his knowledge of the area and the comic industry is always impressive. If you are looking for a more personal experience when it comes to buying your comics without sacrificing diversity of options then All in a Dream is a great place to check out.

See, i like going into a variety of comic book shops, just to see what theyre all like. Reading the reviews, I could have gone here, or a place with 4.7 stars. I chose here for the challenge.Going in, having read the reviews, I simply said oh, i have a few titles in my head Im looking for and just looked through the shelves a bit. Once I had picked out a few titles, I checked them out, and kid you not, this dude talked to me for THIRTY MINUTES about just... whatever(there was a lot and some of it was comic book related and some not) while i just nodded and said oh? at times. At one point, he told me I would make a good Kate Bishop, which i greatly appreciated. If youre a fan of odd interactions, highly recommend.Star off because it smelled a bit odd and now looking at pictures, Im pretty sure the lights were off the entire time I was in there.

I tried to walk in to this place and as I opened the door I asked the guy working if he’d like me and my friend to wear masks. He asked if I liked comic books. I said yeah. He asked if I planned on buying anything. I said, maybe, can I look around first? He said, that’s the problem, that’s what they all say. Was the most awkward interaction I’ve ever had. Needless to say I left before actually entering. Not sure if me and my friend weren’t white enough, or didn’t look like we had money or were comic book readers. But it was extremely disheartening. It was my birthday and I’m a lifelong comic fan and was looking to treat myself to some comics. Never going here again

Not sure why everyone says the man (who I assume is the owner) is mean? I went in today, expecting the worst, but actually had a great time! We had a long conversation about the MCU and comics. I had read the reviews and expected to meet a rude owner. I did not expect to be run out of the store after politely asking if I could peruse the shelves with the intent of purchasing something. Truly a strange interaction. I assume the owner must own the building or not be in need of generating profit.

Sad to see all these negative reviews because this shop is pretty legit. Was shocked to here that a new comic book store was opening up near my lady friends place in Denver due to the utter state of the comic book industry. This place was exactly as I predicted, heavy on back issues, and he has a TON of them. I believe he had a small section for new releases, but as a Marvel guy, I havent been interested in their new books for over 6 years now 😕. I ended up buying 3 issues of a super 90s book I like a called Gen13. None of the books have prices on them, he looks up the current value on the spot which is honest prob a good idea. Everything is super organized, all comics are bagged and boarded. I guess I would suggest that people call ahead to make sure the place is open because this feels like its prob a one man operation, and we are still dealing with this pandemic bs. Next time im back in Denver I will be hitting this place up again. I just wish I had more time to think and search for stuff lol. I wish dude much success. Comic books need comic book stores or ITS GAME OVER MAN!

I happened to pass by this place and asked the guy up front for specific comics. He started out helpful and walked over to where I should look. No more than 5 min later, as Im looking through to buy a few comics, the same guy states out loud that he needs to take a break. He points to the door and gestures to the family that was there and myself to leave. This guy pushed the door on my back to hurry me from leaving. Crazy to see good reviews about the place but the bad ones are def relatable. The owner was rude right off the bat before we even got a chance to look around. We were planning on getting something specific but the guy was so rude we didnt even want to put money in his pocket at that point. As we were leaving he made some rude comments about wanderers in his store. Like someone would want to spend money after you were so rude? Later we went to go tell him how rude he was and he threatened us and told us to come in the store. I am assuming he was going to pull a weapon on us or do something in the store because why would you invite us back in when you didnt even want us there in the first place? I would not go here or trust the owner. Plenty of wonderful comic book stores around Denver, put your money somewhere that deserves it.

This is a fantastic place. The trade paperback and hardcover collection, in particular, is one of the strongest, most varied, and most interesting of any comic store (or book store) in our city. There are all the books you would expect, your Marvel Masterworks and your DC Archive Editions, your Essentials and your Showcases and your Epic Collections… but then there are weird, unexpected books that you won’t find anywhere else. There are plenty of great used comics, too, and they are situated comfortably on shelves at waist-level, easily accessible. Nothing too high or too low, like in some shops, so your knees and your back will be okay. Yes, now you know – I’m one of those older guys, who still enjoys reading about men in tights with special powers! But let’s focus here: besides being accessible, the back-issue prices are quite fair and reasonable. There are great deals to be had!Speaking of deals, dont forget to look in the sales bins or on the sales rack. There are some real treasures to be found there, and they are available for incredibly low prices. Poke around a bit; you’ll be pleasantly surprised. This store also has a great section of Absolute Editions, Artists Editions, oversized Omnibus volumes - you know, the Really Big Hardcovers that have become so popular in comics collecting lately. Again, this store has one of the best selections of these books when compared to other shops around town. Oh, and manga? And old comic-related magazines? And odd chapbooks, minicomics, and zines? And science-fiction and fantasy paperbacks? Yeah, hes got lots of that stuff, too!If you are building your own collection of the best comic-books ever printed (and the best comic-book books) ... this is the store for you. If you’re just mildly interested in the world of comics, just idly curious, this is a great store for that, too!

Friend and I were wandering around and decided to check out the shop, as we are both comic book fans and always want to support local businesses. As soon as we walked In the store, the man who I assume was the owner was extremely awkward to us right off the bat, treating us suspiciously and asking us to leave our bags at the front store, in his words “oh, just in case…” I assume he thought we were going to try to shoplift, but the whole store is open where he and the other two men in the front of the store could see us, so ultimately a little unnecessary, but not really a deal breaker, it was just approached somewhat uncomfortably. We browsed for a little bit, they do have a decent selection of old and some newer. If you’re expecting things like trading cards for figures such as funkos or otherwise, you will not find them here.We browsed and decided that we didn’t see anything we wanted, and as we were heading up to the front to get our “suspicious” bags, the owner sarcastically goes something along the lines of “ohh…that’s it then…” clearly being rude about us browsing. He then so graciously stood up and sarcastically opened the door for us and goes “well thanks anyway” very snarkily. As we walked out the door, he turned to his companions and goes “wow, see what I mean about the browsing?”Ultimately a decent selection, but nothing to write home about. Ultimately the owner’s rudeness would deter me from ever going again, and certainly warning friends and family to not waste their money here. There is no need to run a business that way, and the owner needs to be better. Maybe the owner needs to go next door to the Lova dispensary(highly recommend, staff and selection is great!)and learn to chill out before acting like a jerk to potential customers.

We said no, he said what are you looking for, we said just looking. He then said he doesnt really want people looking around because of COVID (kinda understandable but when the comics are in a stack how are we supposed to look). We then asked if he happened to sell marvel legends, he says he doesnt sell figures, he only sells comics. He then says thats what he was trying to get out of us in the first place. Such a bummer of an experience, on Halloween, couple days ago. Three of the books I was going to buy were set aside by the store owner to be priced in 2 days (I already found them online by the next day). The store owner complained to me that too many people come in and then flip books they buy, so he is sick of that, and he then explained how I have to return on Monday, to purchase the books with the prices he looks up. They are open on Sunday, but he still is adamant on having me return on Monday. I asked if he could use a computer to look them up -he doesnt have one. I asked if he could use his phone -he doesnt have one. Can I return on Sunday? -nope, I have to drive back on Monday for some reason. When I asked why he doesnt go through his comics, since collectors are willing to go through at least a third of a stores on-floor inventory each weekend, so why cant a shop owner do this -he said its too much trouble. He was very dry and dismissive, and kept talking about how he is sick of customers flipping books. I told him that is not fair to have me come back like that, and then he told me I was being argumentative. I tried to explain that as long as I am not raising my voice, cursing, or waving my arms around at a safe distance from him, I should not have to worry about a store clerk being entitled to act upset at me, telling me I am complaining, instead of empathizing that I am breaking my back leaning over long box after long box of comics, finding comics that he then feels like they should be looked up at his own convenience. When I told him that is absurd to take that out on customers he then told me to leave, that the store is closing in twenty min, and he wants to close early, and since I am not cooperative he is canceling my sale. So I said, oh, wow, so you are kicking me out, for politely discussing my point of view -then this store owner starts telling me how being polite and decent is a manner of subject point of view. Which I kind of laughed at, and was like Ok, bye, and then he was like lets do the deal. So then, ultimately the sale was made. Before the sale was made, at this point, I then made sure to only take a fourth of the comics I was going to buy. He can put the rest of those back, and observe how the cost of the books I did not buy were much more than the three books he is expecting me to pay for today Monday. I tried calling the store three times after they opened today, and after the third time the store owner picked up -he placed the three comic books back, since he was upset that I had set those other comics aside not to purchase.

I have been visiting this comic book shop from out of state for just over twenty years now. I try to stop in every other visit to Denver or so. It’s interesting because though the outside has remained basically unchanged from my perspective as a visitor, the inside has changed with the times. Not that the layout has changed too much, but the selection of books has evolved with the industry and comics in general. And I think for the better. You’ll still find some great back issues but the graphic novel selection is where it’s at.All in a Dream offers a wide selection and extensive graphic novel collection. It’s a small, local store that might not be able to compete with bigger stores or stores with a larger fan base, but what it lacks in size it makes for in quality, history, and flavor. The owner is a guy I’ve always found approachable, knowledge and a true fan of the medium. If you are a fan of comics and comic shops be sure to stop in, you’ll feel right at home. And maybe even if you haven’t been to many comic shops or aren’t as familiar with comics as some, then stop in for the authenticity and experience that can come from this shop owner’s understanding of the medium. I guarantee you will find great books and recommendations to meet your tastes.

I will never set foot in this establishment again. And its not the store, its the owner. In my 24 years of dedicated comic collecting I have never been treated so poorly, or disrespectfully by the owner of a comic shop.A close friend, and myself decided to go here because he was in search of 4 specific issues of 2 different comics. We know the covid deal, we were dressed appropriately, masks, gloves, sanitizer, etc. Were very nice and direct about our intentions. And chose to browse for a moment. We had money to spend, and had planned on doing it there. He was instantly dismissive of us, specifically my friend and his request. As well as was disrespectful of his comic choices, he was very insulted and chose to leave.I hung back, choosing to see if maybe Id missed a gem somewhere, and attempted to speak with the owner about possibly special ordering the issues my friend wanted. He was again dismissive, would not let me finish a sentence, and then walked to the front door and opened it, motioning me out.I have not been this disrespected by anyone in a very long time, let alone a comic shop owner. His actions were reprehensible for a human being, let alone a small business owner. If I could give negative stars I would.I dont know what that mans problem is, but he does not belong servicing this industry. Not only does he cost himself money, but hes costing the industry money.I have never not spent at least a few dollars in a comic shop, its just my way, my dedication to comics and those who chose to bring them to the world. But today was that day, and it broke my heart a little.I have been very upset all day by the way that man treated my friend, and myself. If your looking for a comic shop look somewhere else. This establishment isnt worth your money. The owner is such an embarrassment.

I am a culture loving nerd. When taking a specific trip through traffic on Colfax to check out this store, I was disappointed to find the door was locked at 4:30 on a Saturday. There were customers inside whom were speaking cordially with -Im guessing- the owner. He saw me at the front door and ignored me. It was embarrassing to be standing out in the cold. So shocked by the owners behavior, I looked up some reviews. It is not a bunch of random occurrences, people. It is bad company here. After such an experience, I will most likely never go inside.

Went in at 3:23. Owner asked if he could help us with anything. We gave the generic answer of “looking around” and he immediately said he was closing for lunch. He then gestured rudely at the door. His loss; we were going to buy a lot of comics. But there’s always better places with better organization. Avoid this place.

Dont ever waste your time here. Walked in to browse and see if there would be a comic Id be interested in getting. The guy looks at me and said if youre looking to browse, then you have to leave. Wow I was shocked and just left.

Amazing. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, I often spend much more time then I usually would talking with the Purveyor and his staff about everything pop culture.I have a good time every time I go and always get that good feeling in my tummy for supporting a local business. After being called a poser at Mile Hi Comics for trying to buy the Losers when the movie was coming out, I started going here and havent looked back.

I went in there this afternoon. I walked in, the guy looks at me, and says sorry we are closed. At 1:15? I am on my bike and look respectable, so I walk outside unlock my bike and as I do a family walks in, and guess what? I watch them browse around for five minutes and just rode away disgusted. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. I was about to walk in there and start yelling, but thought it was not worth it. Good luck surviving in this digital age.

I read a bunch of reviews here, was a bit scared but still went in. I had a wonderful experience! The guy who helped me out was patient with a newb in the comic world, showed me exactly what I was looking for and was super pleasant the whole time. I even went in the afternoon and they werent closed....So weird to see such mixed reviews.

Drove across town to check this place out and not even open. No hours posted online to tell. Dont waste your time, go to mile high comics. They post their hours and are professionals.

Zero stars. Yep, as pretty much everyone has mentioned...I had a horrible expierence as well. I was eye balled like a hawk as if I was going to steal something. Seriously hope this place goes under. I usually go to Mile high as well. Employees actually smile and laugh there. Who would have thunk.

This place was amazing. And dude was super cool. I struck up a conversation about an artist I like and dude totally threw some xtra comics on top of the pile to spark more interest in some titles I hadnt been aware of.

The guy wouldn’t let me walk around and look because he ordered food and wanted to close. I’ll delete my review if the owner notices the comment and addresses it. Could be a good comic book store but I’ll never know now.

Wow. Huge comics nerd here. I walked in today with my sister, as the owner was sitting on the front step with the door open, reading a book in the sun, which struck me as an inviting stance. He asks, What can I do for you? and then, when I say Im a huge fan of comics and was surprised I didnt know his shop was in my neighbourhood, he says, Actually, I have to close up now. When we ask what times he might be open usually, he snubs us with I dont really have normal business hours. Take care, and rushes us out the door.Since this is the closest comic book shop to me, and some reviewers call the owner a rough edged diamond and give it 5 stars, Ill give it another chance. But man, that was one of the worst attitudes Ive seen in my life from any kind of business owner.

Got off work a little early and was excited to see this place wasnt closed as it usually is. I specifically walked there and was perusing back issues with a friend. Asked about the pricing on a couple back issues as Im slowly collecting the new mutants run and was rudely told I can tell you if Im serious. I continued looking and was asked if we were serious cause he needed to run errands. I said I thought they were open until 6 (it was 4:45) and was told yeah but he was tired of bullsh*t browsers. We got into an altercation because I said I was planning on buying new mutants 1 and was called a liar. Will stick to mile high and online from now on.

THE OWNER IS THE COMIC BOOK GUY FROM THE SIMPSONS and the name should be More like All In a Nightmare Comics. Truly, Ive never been treated that poorly in a business in my entire life. The owner fallowed my girlfriend and I through the store and treated us like we were going to steal something. Then asked what I wanted, and told us to leave when he didnt have it. By told us to leave, I mean escorted us to the door. Please, spend your money else where because this is not a good guy.

Stopped in today to look around and ask some questions about some comics I inherited awhile back. The first words out of the owners mouth were close the door (I left it cracked because thats how it was when I walked in there)... Not a single word from the guy after that.. He was busy BS with a couple guys.. What about a let me know if you have any questions or some other type of greeting.. Based on some other reviews im not alone here.. If you dont want business jackass, dont open one...

Prime real estate to demolish. The owner is the most disrespectful business professional I have ever met. The second I walked theough the doors with 2 other people he rushed up to us asking what we were after. When we stated that we would like to browse around and take a look through all of the stuff he has, potentially making a purchase, we were promply argued with and ushered in the direction of the door. After a lecture that people come into his business and browse without buying anything too often, it was obvious that he was the main issue. Such a disrespectful little man. More obsessed with keeping his comic books to himself than letting people look around and find a new interest. I strongly recommend that you do not buy from here nor even enter the store, save yourself the disrespect. Not the way a business should be ran and maintained.

A lot of the reviews here are so negative. My experience was great. Walked in to find a lot of back issues in the center of the store, some manga along the right wall which is nice. Newer kids stuff in the right corner, some old books, and then almost 2 walls dedicated to trade paperbacks. Cool feeling in there as itt in a n older building. The owner was friendly, we talked comic shows and movies for a good 15 minutes.

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon. Was stared down by the owner the entire time. He asked if we needed anything we said we were just looking . He shook his head and looked pissed off. Said thank you as we left, no reply just the same angry face. Never felt so uncomfortable in a store.

I started going to All in a Dream shortly after Highlander closed. Ive been to a lot of shops over the years, and even worked in one for five years, but All in a Dream is my hands down favorite. Ive read the negative reviews, and find them amusing, since Ive been in the store for some of them. Ray, the owner, does not suffer fools gladly. His shop is located on Colfax, so he sees more than his fare share of undesirable customers. If you go in and are respectful of the man and his shop, he is amazing. If you go in acting like your patronage is a blessing, then prepare to be reminded that business reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. That being said, the selection of trades is truly overwhelming, and dangerous to my wallet. Ray is one of the most knowledgeable shop owners Ive ever met, and also a delight to talk to about things besides comics. The shop is also welcoming to women, according to the numerous female friends of mine who have become customers over the years, as well as my wifes fondness of the store and Ray. All in a Dream is the kind of shop I always dreamed of finding, and I am so glad that I did.
