Perfect place to enjoy some of the highest quality coffee and best variety of fresh, in house, baked goods. I’ve enjoyed Hooked for their coffee and delicious bites for more than ten years. They offer such a unique space to enjoy or grab and go. Supporting local businesses that support community is important to me. Highly recommend if it is important to you.

Well I went in to get a iced matcha latte, and the first one was too sweet. It was my fault tho cause I asked for too much sweetener. So I kindly asked to have it remade and the guy was super chill, but as he was making it and putting the ice, i think he saw something on one of the cubes… and he literally stuck his fingertip in to get it out. I will never return. If you want proper sanitary measures I’d go to the Starbucks down the street.

Staff there gave me the highest degree of disrespect. I dont dress like a hipster Denverite so they ignored me for the first 5 minutes despite me being the only person there, then gave me such curt hospitality that I didnt feel welcomed. They gave me a to go cup even though I informed them I would be dining in, then utterly disregarded me when I asked about the history of the cafe. I was incredibly excited to go their and their staff made me regret that joy

After many years, Im done with Hooked. Will get my coffee & pastry from the other neighborhood coffee shops. Today was the last straw. The Cranberry scone was all dry powder in the middle, and seemed to be days old. Ive loved the staff and their great service, good coffee, great location. Have had several conversations about their baked goods being sparse and quirky (lots of lavender, ginger, gluten-free (old)). They really dont care anymore. Theyre too much into themselves at this point. Only management, staff and/or baker changes can help them now.

Ill admit it, their little sandwich board lured me inside with promises of coffee, booze, and gifts! Hooked On Colfaxs open space is wonderful, yet cozy. I browsed their small items (art prints, mugs, t-shirts, wine, and notebooks) before settling on a beautiful candle. It is the perfect gift for the holiday season it doesnt feel cheap or tacky. Great coffee shop, Ive spent a lot of time here studying and working on my laptop. Good coffee and a full selection of teas. Theyre open later than most shops, which is helpful for procrastinators lime myself, and probably for the best since they serve alcohol too. Perfect for when you get on a roll and decide its time to switch to wine ;).Theres a variety of seating depending on your needs: sunsoaked tables at the front of the shop for catching up with friends, booths for study parties, individual seating if you just need to get some work done, and a downstairs space for that basement of the library on a deadline feel.I also love that they support local art. They display a new artists work every month or so, which helps keep the space fresh and gives what Im sure is a much needed shout-out to some talented people on the come up.Do yourself a favor and try an independent coffee shop. And try their mate latte, its tasty.

Review №73

Hooked checks a lot of boxes for the clientele they attract: locally owned, free WiFi, conducive to meetings/conversation, and fast service that isnt rude or pretentious. The biggest reason I make it a point to go regularly is that they tend to select interesting artists to show and the prices are budget friendly. In addition to the coffee, they make good smoothies. I like to sit close to the windows and take in some people watching on East Colfax. Its next to the Bluebird Theater so you might see performers getting caffeinated before their soundcheck. As more people and businesses move into this area, parking is harder than it used to be (some side streets are restricted to residents only during certain hours) but during the day you can always find a free 2 hour parking spot on Colfax within a block or two.

Ive lived in the neighborhood for over 5 years now and Ive been coming to this shop since the very beginning. The owners Scott and Melissa are great, you can tell that they have a real love and appreciation for coffee they serve. They partner with a couple different roasters and offer light and dark roast espresso. Upstairs is lively and bright with a garage door that opens up to the patio outside and theres a great seating area in the back that feels secluded even though its right off Colfax. The downstairs has an atmosphere thats perfect for studying. Hooked is probably my favorite coffee shop in Denver because of the quality of the coffee they produce and their unpretentious, welcoming vibe.

If you would like you coffee with a large cup of attitude, then Hooked is your place. Every time I go I hope the employees will be happy, talkative or smile, though that has never been the case. There are two parts to a good coffee house, the first if the coffee, the second is the vibe. The vibe at Hooked sucks and just wait until the staff treats you poorly then gives you the stink eye after waiting 10min for an coffee and not leaving a tip... There are better choices for coffee in the neighborhood.

Usually excellent coffee depending on which barista you get. All the ladies have been really friendly, their coffee turns out wonderful and as a bonus, they make pretty designs in your latte. A couple of the guys or maybe it was the same guy both times werent as friendly, but not particularly rude. He just seemed like he didnt want to be there, his coffee didnt taste as good, and you know by his demeanor that youre not getting any designs in your coffee. However, most of the time, the coffee is excellent. Their burritos are great too. Just a nice place to relax. I like that they have extra seating downstairs on both sides.

Not too shabby as far as the coffee and grub go. Service was pretty good too. My only problem with the place is it felt a bit more like an antifa meeting house than a coffee shop. Free country and all but why does everyone feel the need to attach their politics to their business these days?
