I bought a car from them and I should of went with my gut. They couldnt even get it off the lot on time. Every time I called there was another delay. Then they say the car is in 100% perfect shape you can come and get it. Had to bring it back the next day because the tire pressure was off and the tire light kept coming on. Had to bring it back 3 time to get that fixed. Then the sunroof only closes what it wants to. Now its summertime and the AC doesnt work and I find out its because there is a blockage. These people are very shady business. I bought a car from them a few years back before it went to new ownership and I had no issues. Ever since new ownership took over they suck

Unfortunately, I bought a car less than a year ago. The basic needs of the car were a problem to get fixed before even leaving the lot ...the brakes, the windshield, and inspection. I have had the car less than a year and the check engine light is on so it cant even pass inspection, the windshield molding is coming off, the ac doesnt work anymore. Ive replaced the battery twice and the car is dead again for the 4th time. This place is a scam hole and people should NOT trust buying a safe vehicle from this place. DO NOT BE FOOLED OR WASTE YOUR HARD MONEY HERE.

Very shady dealership. Car broke down 3 months after purchase, and the salesmen raised the price of the car prior to me signing the paper work without my knowledge. No this was not dealership fees or tax’s this was the actual price of the car. I should have read the paper work more throughly but that was my mistake. Never again, please safe yourself a headache and stay far away from this place.Update: place is under new new ownership and seems to be running a much better operation

I know someone who has had 3 successful purchases here and I personally have visited there location (without purchasing) and had a good experience. They are under new ownership now and their inventory is excellent, however the cars are mostly overpriced for their mileage, but there are still some great deals to be had.

My daughter bought an 05 Civic. They seemed trustworthy and made buying the car easy. My daughter, wife, and myself all heard Brad say during the transaction, and Im paraphrasing, Even thought its sold As Is if you have any issues let us know and well stand behind the car.Evidently that means they stand behind the car, wave goodbye, and when you call with an issue they do nothing but tell you theyll help and never do.It soon became clear the car was sold by the previous owner because of a blown head gasket. I called Brad who told me his dad Charlie handled all the service. So far so good. Charlie asked for an estimate (we live 3 hours away). The first delay tactic was to tell us he thought the estimate was too high. I called another shop and got an estimate that was close to first one. Then Charlie said I should bring it to them and they would fix it. That morphed into them paying for less than half the repair. I asked if they would pay that amount if I had the repair done close to home and Charlie said yes. After a few more weeks and several phone calls they kept saying they would pay and the check never showed up.I would not recommend buying a car from them.

You cant get quick reliable service just anywhere. I browsed Car City on the internet a couple weeks before coming in, so I had read the reviews and saw all of the inventory online. I felt confident that I had a good idea as to what I was getting into when I arrived, i.e.: read the reviews, saw the price of the vehicles, etc... I went there with a budget of 2k, paying in full, no financing, so maybe my situation is a little different from all the other reviews. Charlie negotiated with me, and got me a great deal.I ended up purchasing a 2002 Lexus RX300, it has 233,000 miles on it, and still drives great. The car was dirty when we arrived, but they really cleaned it up nice, and it looked like a completely different car by the time I left. They told me up-front that it could take a day to get my car, since it needed to be registered and I have a NY license. No biggie. I got a call 5 hours later, the car was inspected, registered, and Jeffrey even printed my insurance card and put it in the glove compartment for me. Over, all I had a very painless experience with them, and know fully well the ramifications of purchasing a very old, used car. That’s the gamble you take when you buy a very old, used car.

I have read the reviews here online about car city and I dont understand why so many people were saying negative things. I had a good experience. The owner was very nice to me and was willing to work with me as far as the down payment since I didnt have all the money with me the day I signed the papers. I brought a mechanic with me who looked at the car I purchased and he was pleased with the condition as was I. The only thing I would have liked would be to have listened to the engine and maybe test drive it, but I am pleased with my purchase and will definitely purchase an extended warranty and would recommend anyone with bad credit to come here and purchase a car. You will be approved and they will work with you. Thank you again for my car!!

Many years ago I bought a Nissan Xterra through these fraudsters. The next day, the Check engine light went on and I took it straight back. They promised theyd fix it and it would be good to go. Turns out, it was leaking oil and they replaced the oil pan. I thought it was fixed until I noticed the check engine light peering out from behind the black tape they put over it. They actually removed the dash and stuck black tape over the light! I reported them to the DMV and consumer complaints but they couldnt do anything about it. Charles Guy is a scam artist. Stay far away.

Called 15 minutes before closing due to my car jerking when accelerating. Dropped it off after hours and they looked at it first thing in the morning. Discovered it was the transmission and they towed my car to the dealership for no charge. Charlie was very kind and even offered to help if the dealership tried to give me any trouble. Highly recommend!

I have used Car City on two occasions and my experience was not a bad one. Charlie has always helped me. I wont say they are perfect but what car dealership is? I have also referred someone to them. I will definitely return to them.

I cant believe whats happening with these people they sold me a car five months ago the car wasnt good condition. But he also promised me to fix it and I believed him. He also tell me what to say To sensitive auto,that the car is in good condition and then i gave you $500, and thats what I said now the check engine light is on all the lights on the panel on the car is on The car dont have air condition the right sides of the car windows dont work and I cannot even charge my phone on the car These people dont treat people with respect. Now Im stuck with a car that is no good also 2 loans to two different banks. He did all this without my permission I never knew he was making two loans from two banks these guys a crook Plus he son and all his workers there are all the same they are pigs and thats how they want to treat people like pigs. I dont understand how these people still in business.

Any 5 star review on this place is obviously fake or a lie this place is trash and what’s worse is Charlie the manager is a con artist and rude. He refused to give my cousin his deposit back after he tried to sell him a “lemon”. Parts of the car were litterally falling off. He even had the nerve to say we were wasting his time. Also they can’t even provide something as simple as a car fax so who knows if your purchase will even last a month. Please, if you care about where your hard earned money goes, stay away from these thieves and go to a reputable dealership.

Charlie is a lying con man who sells vehicles being held together running with glue and tape. A month after driving off his lot engine seized from a electrical defect. The dealer is responsible. So I didnt pay one month and his repo guy was at my house to take the junk when I was 3 days late. Car city is a scam and theyre vehicles are 99% all scrap

I went in looking to test drive two cars , I was immediately sent to a guy in the back who checked my credit and told me basically to go some place else . Though it was a pay here buy here place guess not ! Lost a customer and will loose more .

Stay away from here....junk cars.. their mechanics are nothing but back yard mechanics...sold a car to my brother..the car was at their garage once a week..they never fixed anything..rear end was shot within 2 months.., head gasket blew 1st month ,heater core blew 2nd month,third month a/c died extended warranty is a joke..I wouldnt let these guys do an oil change on a lawn mower..the staff is nothing more then some bsckyard mechanics....have reported them to state of CT and dmv...this place should be shut down..

My mother and I were online searching for my first car, being that I am so young we decided to look for a used car. We came across car city in Danbury and found a Gold/Tan 2005 Nissan Maxima. Everything was just perfect, well thats how they made it seem. We were excited that it was in such good shape a such a great price. However we live about an hour and a half away so this wasn’t a quick trip. We spoke to Charlie (the owner) twice on the phone and he ensured that the car was there and that I could look at it. We got there after a two hour drive and looked at the car and it was keyed up. On the hood of the car, the B word was written across it and the A word on the side with key scratches all over. Charlie never mentioned this because we would’ve never came that far for that. Charlie tried to sweet talk us into just getting a Honda civic but obviously that’s not what I wanted. How could you try to sell a car that is keyed up without telling the buyer as if I would like to drive around with profanity on my first car!!! I would not recommend this place, that was very sleezy of Charlie!

I bought a used, low-mileage, 2000 Mustang convertible from Car City in October of 2012 and I still have the vehicle today.When I first arrived, the salesman (I think the owner?) gave me space to look over the car without coming out to hassle me. When I was ready, he came outside, let me inside of the vehicle, went over everything with me, and told me to take as much time as I wanted looking at it.He told me when I was ready for a test drive, hed photocopy my drivers license and hand over the keys. I test drove the car for around 20 minutes (all alone). I checked underneath of the car, under the engine, etc., and everything appeared to be in good order.I had a Nissan Sentra and the owner gave me a fair offer on a trade-in (he actually offered more than I was expecting to get). Then I made an offer on the Mustang, $1k less than what he was asking, and he accepted. The Mustang has been great ever since.When I got the vehicle home, I noticed the air conditioner didnt work and apparently hadnt been checked. I had to get that charged. But that was minor.I had a remote car starter in my Nissan and asked if he could install that in the Mustang, free of charge, when I picked up the car. He agreed to do this -- and gave me a loaner car to drive for a few hours while he transferred over my remote starter. The wait was a little lengthy, considering they didnt even start working on it for 1-2 hours despite an appointment, but at least they gave me a loaner to kill time with.He was great in handling all of the DMV stuff, which I was concerned about being Im a NY resident and hes operating in CT. But he said this is routine for him since hes so close to the state line.

Called 3 hours before scheduled pick-up & was told we were all set. Arrived to pick-up and NOTHING had been done!!!! No apologie, no explanation & no nothing..... STAY AWAY FROM car city of danbury.

We bought a 03 BMW from them and was told it was a great little car, my ass!! The day we bought it the check engine light came on. We called Charlie and he said he would fix it three trips later still not fixed and found out the radiator was bad so bad in 3 weeks we blew through 7 quarts of oil! Found out the car has been in an accident and cheaply repaired and also to pass just PASS NYS inspection it needs $3000 worth of work! They are a joke and such con artists! If You value your life or your loved ones DO NOT go here! If i could give 0 stars i would!

I would not recommend buying a vehicle from this dealer. I purchased a Toyota Tacoma 10 moths ago. I recently found out, from a mechanic I trust, that the frame was rotted and it was not safe to drive, this did not occur over the time period I owned the vehicle. The dealer passed the truck on a state inspection deeming it safe to drive. The dealer has ignored my attempts to remedy the situation. Charlie, the owner lied to me about the way he was going about helping me, by telling me he was going to contact the Toyota district manager. When I contacted Toyota directly, they told me that the contact information is only available to Toyota dealers. I feel that I was cheated out of my money.

Just bought a truck a month ago from them. Told them I can give $500 down on a $4500 truck, was told theyd raise the price to $5000 and say I gave $1000 down. Said it would look better to the fiance company. A week later I finally get the car, said they replaced the tires which would fix my concern over the tires slipping, only it was the ABS brake line which caused slipping. The very next day they started acting up as well as smelling gas coming from the tank and the check engine light coming on. I call and no answer. Then a few weeks go by and they call me asking for $500, saying I never gave the full $1000 down. So I didnt answer, now they call and tell me they are gonna repo unless they get the $500. So basically if I give them $500 Im out of $500, add to that my truck didnt start tonite because of a gas leak, I had 1/2 tank and 30 mins later after being parked that long the truck didnt start.

Truly awful. Ripped off. Spoke to a professional dealer and was informed they have one of the lowest ratings in our area and have a very (and I quote) questionable dealer. I can attest to the fact that the owner is more than questionable - a thieving scammer is more like it.Regular dealers care about getting your money. This owner cares about getting your money and leaving you in a ditch to die.Dont go with Car City and take an unnecessary risk - there are *many* better options in the area.

STAY AWAY!!! I admit, I didn’t listen to the reviews and I bought a 2009 Subaru Legacy with 75K miles from these crooks. They told me the car was fine and everything was good to go. I had my mechanic take a look and he too said everything looked good. Fast forward 3 months (just past the CT 60 day standard warranty for used cars) and my engine blew, apparently it was leaking/consuming oil which is why my mechanic couldn’t know by looking at it... I took it to subaru to get a USED replacement engine and after labor costed me $5,300.00 on top of what I paid for the car from Car City-which was too high to begin with...do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Trust me, you will be the next one writing a bad review for these guys if you don’t listen to me!!!!!! It’s too late for me, but SAVE YOURSELF!!!! Seriously tho, don’t buy from these guys.

Purchased 2 Vehicles never had any issues with them. I also referred some close friends of mine to them and they too had no issues. They keep to their word and when they say they are going to do something they get it done. I will continue do take my business there and refer my friends their also.

If I could give them a zero I would. I bought my first car here they sure sucker me I ask if there was anything wrong with the car because I didn’t know much about cars at the time they told me nothing’s wrong with it. A couple days later the car broke down. I spent most of my savings to paying for the car I thought I could trust the car salesmen but they were only trying to make a buck. Lesson learned. Don’t buy from them.

I bought a 2010 Chevy Malibu from the morning less than a year ago , they sold me the car with the wrong vin number and made me refinance after 6 months and they refused to honor the 3 month warranty they offered and claim to sell as is , I’ve been down multiple times due to my check engine light yet they told me u have to pay to fix whatever was wrong even tho I owned the car for only 2 months at the time , and now my engine has blown and they refused to make it right so I was forced to surrender my loan because I couldn’t afford the 3 grand it was going to take to replace the engine , I 10/10 DO NOT recommend this place , the BBB needs to shut them down , they are ripping broke people people off who just need a damn vehicle and they don’t care

There should be a special place in hell for people like you. You take advantage of young people with poor or no credit. You ripped off my 20 year old daughter when you sold her a Mazda 3 last August. She was alone, and desperate for a car to go to work with, and you totally took advantage of that fact.The A/C compressor was blown, and you promised her you would fix it. She brought it in 3 times, only to find nothing fixed when she picked it up. To add insult to injury - the last time she brought it in, she had a half tank of gas when she left it - and the tank was empty when she picked it up, and again - it was still not fixed.The price of the car was double that of the Kelly Blue Book price, and you got her financing at a WHOPPING 17%!!!One of the struts gave out, and we just learned of a cracked motor mount. The armrest in the back seat is missing, there is a lousy bondo job on the right quarter panel, and all the black trim on the inside is flaking off, only to show a hideous neon green color underneath.I hope someday your own daughters or sons falls prey to the same unscrupulous characters as you are....but until then, we will do all we can to report you to the BBB, Consumer Affairs, the DMV, and anyone else we can think of.You get a ZERO stars rating. I only put the one star because I couldnt post this unless I put something.

Look, they were friendly and cool but they kept switching prices on me , Charlie told me 75 a week then the bank called and told me another price , and then Charlie had told me with 300 down payment and my car as trade in i could get the vehicle , then another guy told me I would have to instead put 400 down and my car ... like man can they stick to a price ???

I also had a warranty.. its a used vehicle. ...Dont buy a used vehicle without a warranty. Theyre always very helpful wuth repairs and maintenance .the loan company that they deferred me too has been very patient and Im having a great experience.im am satisfied with the loan and conditions of my vehicle. I dealt with a sales Person by the name of Brad Guy, Brad was very nice and cordial, up until the headgasket blew the next day and smoked up the interior of the vehicle wich made a unpleaseant ride for my 5 year old daughter. BRADs attitude changed quickly when I disputed some Labor charges for for replacing the water pump/ and timing belt that was done by my request while the engine was being worked on (Figuring it would save money on labor) I was told several different prices, wich made things seem very shady. We agreed on a price of 400..300 in parts and 100 in labor after 10 minutes of bickering with this man BRAD GUY NEVER RETURNED ONE PHONE CALL.....not one....there is now under 3,000 miles on the vehicle, I had them replace a coupling that was causing severe vibration, I had to drop off the car on two seperate occasions to have this handled. Now it seems those vibrations are back, most likley the wheel bearings...

Owner Charles Guy is a theif, this man sold me a truck, and didnt let me take it off the lot till 6 days later, because he said he needed to change break pads and get it registered, after I drove an hour to pick up truck, it was falling apart, I believe this scum, to parts off of my truck to put else where, there was no locks, no A/c, no drive shaft, No window button, he promosed me he was going to get it fixed, 2 months later after me calling all the time and getting on his case, he tells me to pick up the vehicle, that I was being to rude to him, and not to mention, he sold me a fake warranty, i called my finance company, and they said warranty doesn’t exist after he charges me $1.700.00 for a warranty, STAY AWAY, RUN , DO NOT ENTER !!

They dont have too many cars on lot and this dealership process a loan for a vehicle that I never even test drive. It has been hell having that removed from my credit.
