Located at Dana Point Harbor, this is a nice place to rent water sports equipment. It can be little hard to get to this place as it is inside the harbor. You can either park at the harbor for $5 or park at the free parking further away.Overall good experience to rent kayaks and pedal boards.

Simple and easy rentals. Wife and I shared a kayak rental for two hours. Pickup was quick! (They asked you to leave keys or and ID) Then get your vests on and walk down to the dock which is literally right in front of the shop. Workers were helpful to us get into kayak and situate ourselves—even took a photo.We got lost finding the place (it’s in the boat loading area of the Embarcadero)—Google maps had us go down the peninsula for some reason. But even showing up 15min late, they still let us use our reservation and even said we have two hours from the time we left the dock in the kayak! Overall, very chill staff!

Walked up and was able to get a jet ski rental with my sister. Super fun riding around out in Dana point. Makes me want to buy my own to ride to Catalina!

Rented a few kayaks for a fun event on a Friday.Working with them was great. Prices are competitive, staff is attentive (and plentiful) and communication was great.Guy and Andrew really stood out. Those two just went above and beyond.Everyone had a great experience. The harbor was a fun place to paddle around too!

I rented a kayak and a jet ski today and Im impressed how professional and helpful everyone on their team was. First, the lady who answered my phone call. The staff in their office, the older gentleman helping with life vests, and the dock hands. All of them were friendly and outstanding.Their equipment is in excellent shape and looks new.My 12-year-old son and I had a blast. Well be back for more.

The girl work here is super rude and useless , called her at 4:40 ask for direction for parking and located the shop, she doesn’t explain very well and when we finally figured it out arrived at the place at 5:03 which is for the last kayak time , she told us it’s close because we are 3 minutes late! Thanks for that, drove 2 hours to here for nothing plus she has bad attitude!

My boyfriend and I had a great time on 7/6/21 kayaking in the harbor in a purple 💜 double kayak. It was his first time kayaking and he had a work out he was winded lol the staff where all great we will be back to try something else out maybe a jet ski

Worst experience. Wind was big and they didn’t let us know it’s difficult for jet ski to keep stable on the sea. Jet ski flipped over and we didn’t move as instructed by them. And the jet ski floated and beached without our control. They charged us 2000 for no damage and beach only! We have played jet ski before and this is the only time we feel ripped off.

Amazing experience. The entire staff was very friendly and extremely patient with all the instructions and questions we had. Some of the jet skis are brand new. We had a great time here.

Great selection of boats and personal watercraft for purchase or rental. Plenty of staff on hand to make sure you get what you need and understand how to use your new equipment. Ordered my 2020 Hobie Outback through their Oceanside location before I knew this location existed. Chris (the manager in Oceanside) even offered to drive the kayak up to this location to save me from driving an extra 50+/- round trip miles from LA.They had the kayak ready and waiting for me to pick up and walked me through what nearly every lever and pulley on the kayak did or was for. Even helped me get it loaded up and showed me how to strap it down properly for longer trips on the highway.Absolutely top notch sales, clear communication, and truly wonderful service. I will definitely be going back to Pure Watersports for any more Hobie accessories or parts.

So great. The staff were the absolute best. The front desk person was so incredible (I messed up my reservation and she was so amazing about helping me out) and every other staff member was just as helpful and kind. This will be our go to rental spot for sure!

Worst kayak rental around all kayaks seat backs are broken or in shambles. I was told by the employees on the dock that all of their kayaks seats are broken or in shambles. We got a refund and left…. Their was no issues when requesting a refund which we did appreciate, but probably wont ever be back.

Terrible experience. We had rented 2 Jet skis and they terminated our ride half way into it and did not refund the rest either. They provided confusing information about the bounds in which they want you to ride in and if the manager believes you are outside of the imaginary bound on sea he will come and terminate your ride without refunding you ( he is circling around just watching you). They also insinuated that we were stupid for not understanding the conflicting information they provided.

Great service and great prices! Only $15 for an hour SUP rental... The only downside is having to transport your boards over to the baby beach but if you know ahead of time its not a big deal... But bringing a car/truck you can transport in is 100% recommended...

I had a wonderful experience at Pure Watersports. My wife and I went in to inquire about Hobie pedal kayaks. Evan took his time and answer all our questions and was not pushy at all. We scheduled a demo time the following weekend and ended up purchasing a Hobie Mirage Compass Duo. Great service and wonderful staff!

Rented kayaks and jetskis Everyone is super helpful. Big area to jetskis in. We loved the seals and dolphins.

They offer Hobie, the most comfortable kayaks ever. The check-in process is easy at is the check out. You get your life vest peddles and off you go after the helpful ans friendly lads who work there help you on and off the kayaks. While lockers arent provided, they do have an open shelf area where ones extras can be left while on the water. They also sell snacks and refreshments (bottled water, soft drinks) in the main area where Hobie kayaks are also available for purchase. Finally, the price is fair with many options for kayaking times. Parking on their lot is limited. Parking up the hill at Battery Park is recommended as its an easy 5-10 minute walk downhill.

Very nice place, great prices especially for renting paddle boarsing which cost $15. If you are going mid summer you would probably want to call in advance. Otherwise it is first come first serve. You get to use their harbor which has seals in it which is pretty neat. They give you all the equipment you need. You can also get a wet suit if you are going when it is colder. People are all very nice.

Really great first time kayaking experience for me, my teenager has been a few times. Amazing kayaking by sea lions and seeing pelicans. Reasonably priced

Going with 4 stars on this just due to some weird glitch with online reservation where it have me a confirmation number but didnt actually reserve anything. In any case the girls up front were very helpful and got me what Id ordered any how. The inside was a mad house though, people with no masks crowding up the entire inside space, it was like a normal summer day. I know its an extra cost but the company should have someone walking the floor enforcing social distancing and mask wearing while inside.

For your on the water fun needs, look no further than Pure Water sports on Dana Point. My family and I have rented Stand Up Paddle and Kayaks. The staff are friendly and the equipment is well kept and in good shape. Parking can be tight on weekends and holidays, so come early or make a reservation. I recommend this outfit to all my family and friends.

Staff was kind and helpful. The parkinglot is small, so make sure you show up early to make the parking situation easier on yourself. Guy helped our group get settled, he was funny, energetic and kind.

The staff was super friendly and the jetskis were awesome. We booked a week in advance. Definitely do the same. A lot of walk ups were turned away or kayaks and SUP.

The Guy at this place is awesome. He really wants everyone to have a good time and enjoy life, hes that type of Guy. The Dockboy Evan was incredibly helpful and kind and helped show my girlfriend and me everything we needed to know to set us up for a great day. I would highly recommend this place.

We rent jet skis from Pure Watersports and its so much fun!! You need to arrive a half hour before your time for training and to get your life vest. Great customer service and a great activity while practicing social distancing.

Good place to rent kayak. It takes about an hour to go around the harbour. You will see sea lions, all sorts of birds, fish, crabs and snails.

Employees were rude and dismissive. They were also sticklers on time (they didn’t allow any leeway on the time spent on the jet skis). Don’t recommend.

I have been a customer for years at this location. I come on a regular basis and feel un comfortable that even the dock boys who hold your boat while you get back on to the dock do not wear any face covering or mask. We customers are wearing masks which might give them a clue that it would make us comfortable if they wore as mask for even the 1 to 2 minutes when in contact. Just a suggestion.

Great service on most of the water sports. You can walk in on weekdays. But, its safer to reserve on weekends at least 24-48 hours prior.

We rented jet skis from them. It was well organized, easy and clear explanation, skis ran great. Staff were friendly and chill. Feels recommend.

Had an awesome time! Came here with the girlfriend to kayak and signed up for 4 hours on two single kayaks, we haven’t ever kayaked on the ocean and after about two hours we were back and they were kind enough to reimburse us for the hours we didn’t kayak. Highly recommend this place for a wonderful day out on the ocean.

Employees here are still not wearing any masks. I noticed a previous review with the same concern from three weeks ago. Why does this business feel like they do not have to show customers the same respect and consideration that we are showing them by wearing our masks.

We rented kayaks and jet skis, custom we service was very good. I havent ridden a jet ski since I was little and had a bad experience so to say nervous would be an understatement, the young man who helped us go over riding instructions was very informative and made me feel more confident getting out there. Had a lot of fun and enjoyed seeing the town from the ocean and riding the waves.Kayaking was just as fun, getting to be in the water with the sea lions near and playing with us was awesome and a must do if you are in Dana Point! I absolutely enjoyed it!

We reserved 2 kayaks for 1 hour then I was concerned we might go over 1 hour and get charged an extra fee, so before taking the boats out I went back and asked them what is the rule if I go over is there going to be a penalty? The girl said to return it as close to the agreed time as possible. I talked to my partner and we agreed wed be out for likely 70 minutes, so i went back to tell the girl so she can add an extra hour. After paddling for 60 minutes, and 5 minutes to check in our gear, I told them wed only had them for an hour as originally explained ,and the same girl said no there are no refunds. I then said, can you give me a credit for next time or tell me where in the contract it states this,and they said no.I was never given a copy of the contract and no receipt.This is poor customer service. I‘m throughly disappointed. Beware potential future customers.

The only issue I had, was that they told us it was a waiting time of 1 hour and it almost reached 2. Besides that it was a great kayak experience and the crew is really nice.

I will never be renting from this place again and I 100% dont recommend it. I rented a jet ski and it was very bad and I had to switch it twice and wasted time and still made me pay the time that was wasted (they took a really long time to get you another one and the police offered to towe me because he was worried that the wind might draft me away because it takes forever from that place to help me. Read all the reviews before you rent from them.

Ive been renting kayaks here for years. The people are always nice and friendly. Its a great place to unwind while youre getting a little exercize. There are always sea lions hanging out somewhere in the harbor as well as the occasional dolphin or two.

This place was terrible🤬🤬😤. We rented 6 jet skis for 2 hours and 2 of them broke down. It wasted an hour of our time. When we talked to the manager he was extremely disrespectful. If I could give this place a negative I would give them a negative 100. 🤬🤬🤬😤😤😤

Nice and helpful staff but jet ski stopped working leaving me in the middle of the ocean for an hour. Sent ocean rescue to help me. The other jet ski we rented wouldn’t go faster than 20 mph, something was off with it. At least we got our money back though.

We rented two jet skis from here yesterday and it was a lot of fun. the staff was thorough in safety instructions. their skis were brand new and performed extremely well. we were given an F1 with 300hp that topped out at 60mph. very cool - I would go back again!

I came down on Saturday to rent stand up paddle boards from my daughter and boyfriend and they had a blast. It was their first time trying it and the crew was very helpful where they needed launch and stay outside the surf zone. Michele and the crew are outstanding and I will continue to recommend to family, friends and anyone visiting DP. Dana Point Jet Ski is a jewel to the city of DP and you couldnt ask for a more friendly group people to deal with for your water craft needs!love you gals!!

I love going kayaking out of pure water sports in dana point. For $25 I rent a kayak for two hours! Their friendly staff help you in and out of the kayak, and the time is perfect to cruise around the harbor, or go outside the harbor and enjoy the beautiful views. I try to go every weekend ❤

A bunch of us went out on jet skis as a side event before my brothers weeding. What an awesome idea and this place was dialed in. Very good and new equipment. Staff explained the map and areas to go/no go.

Let me start by saying the first time paddle boarding was fun and prices are great, and for my daughters 16 birthday with friends, everybody had fun. But, the guy in the front was in a bad mood I guess, and they have no help for us. We had to all carry our own boards and paddle 1/2 mile or so. Very heavy and girls were really struggling. Then we had to carry them back and load them on their slots ourselves. We did all the work for them, and they should have a truck or something so the girls didnt have to carry their own heavy equipment.great experience, but lame customer service. Will find a different place next time

Very bad customer service. The mechanic flicked us off as we drove away because we were not happy after they charged us $200 for minor scratches. You can easily find better and cheaper jet ski rentals in LA.

Went in to look at and demo a kayak for the family and bought 2 Hobie mirage oasis (in red :) really nice staff and Tim was a great guy and good knowledge on the units he carried, which is always nice.

There was a mixup with our jet ski reservation (guess a famous guy wanted to rent out the entire fleet or something). However, the staff corrected the issue and totally took care of us and made everything right. These guys are awesome.Jet skis were very nice, too. I unconditionally recommend Dana Point Jet Ski & Kayak Center.

Kayaks and service excellent. Great location to paddle out from- if windy, stay in harbor and enjoy the sights. If not too windy, can go out to ocean, paddle out.

We rented 4 of their Kawasaki 1500cc jet skis, they had a reservation available same day and t he exact time we needed. We were by the pier and asked someone where the jet ski rental is, then pointed us towards the seadoo rental, the guy there said we were at the wrong place but really wanted to rent us the 4 jet skis, except he was $135 each instead of $110 at PURE WATERSPORTS. We ended up being 20 minutes late because we had to move our vehicles to their parking lot. I called and they said it wasn’t a big deal. I figured they would just make us return them after 40 mins because we arrived late. That being said, when we got there they were all ready for us, paperwork ready to go, took 5 minutes to get on the water and we had a blast. Got one of the seas up to 48MPH. After about 35 minutes one of them started to go a little slow, probably picked up some kelp or something but we headed back and ended up being a little late back because one of the jet skis couldn’t get over 25-30mph. Not a big deal because it was toward the end of the hour. We got back after being out for an hour and ten minutes. They pulled us in and didn’t charge extra for being late. Great company who seems to have empathy for people who are not used to California driving;)

If u know someone cant perform u shouldnt charge them the full amount. We could have rented and actually use the equipment. Im mad that after I told them that we werent able to ride maybe a little ok well let me discount one at least. Too heavy to carry, and you cant launch from their bay.Plus other nearby stores have better deals. Check baby beach, better equipment and cheaper.

This was one of the main highlights of our vacation. I had an unforgettable experience and even had a dolphin tag along for about 10 minutes. The staff here are great I would 10/10 recommend to family and friends.

My favorite place to kayak. Reasonable/cheap prices and very friendly staff. The location is also excellent because the sheltered areas of the harbor are easy to kayak in and the scenery is beautiful. There are always Sealions to see, and sometimes I see dolphins too.

Horrible experience! My family and I went to this place all excited about kayaking. They didnt warn us that my father who weighs more than 250 lbs should not sit on those yellow kayaks. He sits and flips over in the freezing water. The workers just stood there and watched him. Then, they said, maybe we should give you this red kayak that is bigger and can hold you. REALLY? What if he had a heart attack in that cold freezing water?! Couldnt you have given that sooner?The story doesnt finish here. Before going to the water, I told them that my mom cannot swim. They said these life jackets wont do much to her. I said i dont think the kayaks would flip, and he didnt say anything. After going to the water, she flips after slowly going towards the deck and hitting it. She was drowning. I had to jump in the water to swim and save her. AGAIN, they were standing there just watching doing nothing. NO HELP whatsoever. Where is the safety??? You rather have her drown and die in front of your eyes?!The day was ruined. They didnt even help us after we got out of the water at all. In fact, after getting out of the water and walking through the deck on the other side of the departure area, which was separated by a fence, they asked us to jump the fence instead of coming and helping us somehow to get to our car. We were wet, bare-feet on the ground, freezing, and panicked. They are horrible. Do yourself a favor and do not go to them.

I have rented from this company before and they were helpful in the past. Taught us how to use the equipment. Even nice on our return time. Today was a different. When I called to get information on their summer prices the person hung up on me and I had to call back. We still decided to go with them. We were able to borrow 2 boards from family but we still need one. The girls that took our information at the front were kind and courteous. There were two younger gentlemen, Evan and Liem who went above and beyond, but there were two older men one in a blue shirt and red hat(found out his name was Tim) and the other in a neon yellow shirt who were both very rude towards me as well as to the group I was with. Tim asked me as I was caring my SUP board with the cover, if it was mine. I told him it was but we had rented one for someone else in our group. He then continued to work on what he was doing. Few minutes later he harshly told me that I would have to take the cover off ba k in the parking lot and carry the board in. I kindly asked if one of the gentlemen that was there could help me. He said no very sharply. I understand if your busy or if its an insurance thing, but you dont have to be rude. This guy was very grouchy. Not customer friendly. And what I later found out is he is a manager. What upset me even more is once I stumble to the dock with the awkward heavy board, another older man yelled down to Liem on the dock dont help them and pointed towards us. As we returned from our rental time, we asked kindly if we could rinse our boards off or if there was a place near by that we could. The man in the neon yellow shirt said rudely Thats not his job. I didnt ask if he could do it! Uh... Evan over heard and said he could help us. He even asked where we wanted it. The final straw came when I noticed another group on 4 customers were getting help from the staff to carry there equipment to their car. Why did they get help? I was so disappointed in this experience. I do not recommend this place. The rentals in Newport are much more customer friendly and a better price. Especially during the summer and if Tim is the manager on duty.P.S. their boards are all dinged and peeling. I dont think they take good care of them.

Prices were ok ($25 for two hours on paddle board) staff was nice but location want the best if you are just looking to hurry up and play. You have to either drive your board somewhere else or walk down the street which isnt too bad.

YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!It was my brothers birthday and I asked the cashier who asked the owner if they have a special for birthdays like all the other normal places do, the OWNER looked at me like I was stupid and gave me a nasty remark with an attitude we dont do discounts for anything can you believe that?! And on his special day! I had to console with my brother as she didnt mean it because he had a sadness to his face after the owner said that. What a nasty owner she is! Go someplace else where at least you will be respected! BE FOREWARNED.

Dana Point Harbor is a beautiful place to visit. Strolling along the harbor, walking your dog or stopping by Johns Fish Market for a bite. Very relaxing.polarbearheatingandaIr recommends this place.

From the ladies at the front desk to the guys at the dock, everyone was energetic & friendly. The jet ski rental process was a breeze & the experience was unforgettable.

We rented 6 paddle boards from here and it was so much fun! The staff were friendly and helped us as soon as we got in. There is a $5/board fee for them to bike the boards over to the beach, but it was well worth it.

Michelle was so fabulous words cannot describe how great of a time we had it was even pretty cold outside and with our wetsuits it was perfect -- would recommend to anyone and everyone whether youre one person or an entire family
