Lived in China for a few years and was able to find many of the items I became familiar with. The meat/seafood department was great. Lots of variety. While this the store, in no way, has the feel of a regular western supermarket, it has the feel of a truly great Asian supermarket. The variety of food was great and I was able to find everything I was looking for and more. I would recommend this market if you are looking for authentic Asian food choices :)

Asian market with all the necessities -- chinese veggies, live fish, dry noodles, snacks. i picked up some ingredients for hotpot and was a little disappointed by their meat selection. their frozen food section is also a little confusing/not the most intuitive setup. but other than that, a pretty standard asian market. its not the newest/fanciest, but it serves its purpose. the carts are kinda old and rusted... probably because daly city fog. but yeah. parking is easy too.

Easily one of my favorite grocery stores in the Bay area. A great place for produce especially if you are going to be making soups or smoothies. Great selection of spices and noodles from all over the world. Great prices compared to most other places. I have seen people that work at Safeway or Luckys shop and they told me that even with her employee discount this is much more affordable.

Its been a long while since my last visit. I use to shop here weekly when I lived in the area. Nothing much has changed, cashiers are still rude. Most of their cars are rusty and dirty. Cant get assistance in finding anything youre looking for. Only difference now from then is that they can be reviewed.😀

Great veggie selection here. Always recycling and fresh, I appreciate this grocery store more and more, though I wish they would remodel or modernize the place a bit more, but still happy to come back. +1 for the butterfly splitting and deep frying of fish! Protip: choose the catfish with the least foggiest eyes, ask for a butterfly split cut with extra deep fry, enjoy!

One of the best places in the Bay Area for Filipino food & plenty of other ethnic Asian foods. Amazing variety. I love the fried squid, Adobe and siding in the food court, but its more fun to bring home some fresh fish, veggies, spices & sauces & cook up something awesome in my own kitchen!

I come here pretty often, usually for all vegetable, some spice and items that other asian grocery stores don’t have. they have a lot of fruits and vegetables, cheap + acceptable quality. a while ago, I bought some ground pork and I noticed the smell like it was about to go bad. So I asked the supervisor near the checkout. She said “It’s OK.” I didn’t want to spend a lot of time for couple bucks, so I didn’t do anything. just wanted to let one of supervisors know which she did. that’s why I come here just for the green.

Today we bought a top 5 big fresh swimming sturgeon in the seafood department of Manila oriental market. The people in them exchanged a small dead sturgeon in front of us for us, and then we took a closer look and found If it’s not right, let’s say whether we changed our fresh sturgeon. The employees in them have been reluctant to admit this mistake. Later we had a person who was said to be a fish stall and took a look and exchanged the fish we just bought. we. Their behavior is too shameful to deceive consumers, and the attitude and handling of the manager in charge of the supermarket is difficult to accept us and react to this incident. As a result, she just said that I am a bit busy now shirk the responsibility and hope everyone buys fish or Keep other seafood dim sum

I have been shopping in the market for several years. Actually, I would give five stars for this supermarket because of the good price and the great variety. But I am very disappointed at one of the cashiers, which is the tallest(probably) woman with colored short hair. She is very rude and unfriendly. You will never feel that you are respected as a customer from her. When she finishes scanning the items, she always pushes the food rudely to you and turned her back towards you. Either talk to her coworker from another aisle or just turn her head to Somewhere else. What’s more, she still ignores you and just pretends that nobody is in front of her when you say “thanks” and “have a good one”. She really doesn’t know how to respect people.I Will NEVER go to her aisle anymore. She will definitely ruin your day. Any cashier over there is way better than her. Stay away from her and save your day!!!

Review №49

This is a standard Asian market. Prices are good. But smelly and not the clean, well-lit, and wide-aisled environment most Americans are used to. Produce is mostly pre-bundled for you, like at Trader Joes, so you dont get to pick individual pieces of fruit. The meat counter carries a lot of cuts of meat, poultry, and fish that you cannot find at Safeway, at very reasonable prices. Can get really crowded mid-morning and patrons are not good at social distancing. But everyone is masked and respectful at the checkout lines. Ive started coming here almost exclusively during quarantine because I cant handle waiting in line just to get into Safeway or Trader Joes, and supplies are still plentiful at Manilla so I never leave without the items I need.

All the cheap soda, countless snacks and instant noodles one could ask! Anything else like the produce/meat section or can goods, proceed with caution. Check expiration dates or look for discoloration on fresh foods. Most important, wait until the cashier bags your groceries. Technically that’s part of their job.

I have been going to this market for many years. It has that distinct smell that most seafood Asian markets tend to have. The prices are decent. Not all items are worth buying because some items are overpriced. But there are deals to be found.Today I stopped by to buy shrimp. I was going to purchase tiger prawn shrimp. As I was about to bag some up I noticed it had specks of white marks. I tried to ask several people behind the counter and they all acted like they didnt know what I was talking about. I picked one up and it was slimy. Nasty looking with white spots and and slimy. I will not be going back!! It has seriously gone down hill.

Its just convenient for me that is why I go there to shop, mostly for fruits and vegetables. You need to inspect (do your own QC on freshness!😉) and choose the good item to get.It irked me one time that there was a receipt checker not too far from the register (like they do at Costco!). That, I thought, was unnecessary! O well.

TOO MUCH PLASTIC!!!As stated, there is too much plastic for their produce where its not needed. Melons to apples in a foam tray covered in plastic. Adding more plastic to cabbages for what reason? Dont think that is needed. Its quite scary how much more plastic they add on for their produce. I get it if it came that way, but Im sure it didnt. No other markets Ive been to have I seen added plastic to their produce. Meat is one thing, but more added plastic to produce is absolutely unnecessary.

PROS: Huge selection of imported food from all over Asia. Good selection of fresh vegetables and seafood that are hard to find elsewhere (e.g. about 10 kinds of leafy greens, fresh squid). Great prices.CONS: Meat section can be dodgy. Dont be surprised to see packed on dates that have not occurred yet. Ive stopped buying anything in the meat dept unless I can smell it first. Some of the produce is also of low quality. They dont trust you no matter how many times you go in; Expect to check your bags, and show your ID with a credit card purchase. Not a lot of parking.AMUSING: The constant stream of 70s and 80s American pop music playing over speakers that crackle on every bass note. For years its been my go-to store when I want to do some Asian cooking. Really its fine so long as you know its strengths and weaknesses.
