Great welcoming environment, good people and quick service. Had an issue with my rear derailleur and cassette, they took it straight back, pulled the cable and got right to work. Reasonably priced, esp if you typically work on your own bike. Take your bike in, you will not be disappointed.

This is my absolute favorite Bike store. I want to thank Family Bike Shop for being so accommodating and friendly. I have purchased bicycles here over the years, for my daughter, since she was a little kid. She is now going to be a Senior. They have been so friendly and helpful in deciding what kind of bicycle is best for her. She is a dancer, so I wanted something safe for her, and to have the correct equipment, so that she would be comfortable while riding and not injure herself unnecessarily. The owners and staff were really helpful and let her try out the bikes in the parking lot area. They helped fit, select and size, the safest helmets for her, and have always explained safety features and correct usage of the bike and equipment. Even though she is not into racing, they spent time making sure that she was knowledgeable about her bicycle choices and their features.

I bought a bike from this shop several years ago. They told me that I would have a life time of tune-ups. Called the bike shop about a year later and said I wanted to drop my bike off for a tune-up. They told me that it would only take 10 minutes. OK - so not much of a tune-up but its free. Probably just a little bit of lube. Went back today for another tune-up and they tell me that I have to leave the bike for a week. I told them that that was not going to happen but could they just give it a quick lube and I would be on my way. They were NOT happy. They checked the bike and told me I need a new chain and new brake pads. Told them thanks but I could do that simple repair myself - could they just lube the bike. Got it home - clearly no lube. I now have a flat (leaking) front tire and as you can see from the picture, I really did not need new brake pads. They still have half their life in them! I will never go there again and would not buy a bike from them. Follow up - nice try by insinuating that I was rude - which I was not. Still did not explain why the pads are barely worn but you wanted to change them out. Sad response.

I have purchased two bikes from Family Bike Shop as well as bike accessories, and I have always received excellent customer service. They have even taken the time to help me to make sure that we were purchasing the right size bike and helmet. They have provided free bike tune ups over the years right on the spot. I have even brought my bike in there because I had minor issues, and they fixed it quickly. The staff is always very friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.

We have been happy customers of Family Bike Shop for over six years, and have bought bikes and accessories, and had our gear quickly repaired and upgraded. The staff is friendly, and their knowledge and experience has kept my beach cruiser, my wife’s hybrid, and my kid’s unicycle on the road for years. Even when COVID negatively impacted bike and part availability they did their best to keep everyone moving. This shop is great for families, hobbyists, casual and serious cyclists alike.

Family Bike Shop is the BEST shop in town! When I ordered a bike for my son’s birthday it was back-ordered because of Covid. The Family Bike Shop kept me updated on shipment status until it finally arrived. When I went to pick it up they helped size it perfectly for my son and made adjustments on the spot! Their customer service is so good that Family Bike Shop is the ONLY place we take our bikes!

I have been buying bikes from FBS for over 20 years for myself and 3 sons. Can’t say enough about the professionalism and expertise of owner Jonathan and his staff. Recently I came to Jonathan to purchase a beach cruiser. Even though he didn’t have any in stock Jonathan took the time to help me find one online even though he wasn’t making any money on the bike I order. When the bike arrived he promptly assembled for me at a very reasonable price.

I hate to leave bad reviews on small businesses but in this case it was just so bad I feel like its more of a warning. I got a bike for free, I wanted to get it fixed up and get it ready for regular use since I just moved to a nice, super bike friendly neighborhood in the city. I took it in, everyone was super friendly and when the guy helping me recommended their ~$150 tune up service, I was totally cool with it, 150 bucks for a decent, safe bike seemed like a good deal. When I picked it up I was told that the bike was too old to get shifting cables for it so when they go bad they go bad, which alright... Why not tell me this before doing all the work and charging me? I was in a place to get a bike, I would have literally just bought a bike from them if they told me this bike wasnt worth repairing. Anyhow, seeing as the bike could shift it didnt seem like an immediate problem and I felt like at the least I could get 150 bucks worth out of it just riding around the city. Then I took it out for the first time and could have been killed going down a hill, not only did the brakes screech terribly when applied but they didnt even work and I almost bit it at the bottom of the hill when a car pulled in front of me. I was upfront with every person that I talked to here that I didnt know anything about bikes, and I dont even know if I could have known ahead of time that the brakes didnt work by looking at them. Anyway, everyone seemed nice, no one was rude or mean and there werent any hidden costs that showed up at the end, I just have rarely had such a bad experience with quality at a small business.

Had the very worse experience ever made me feel horrible. I walked in the store a guy (Bryce) looks me in my face didn’t say hello may I help you or anything. I honestly didn’t even know he was an employee because he was with someone looking at a bike so I thought they were a couple shopping however after me another customer walks in (a white male) and Bryce says HELLO HOW MAY I HELP YOU 👀👀👀👀I COULDNT BELIEVE IT I SAID YOU DIDNT SAY TWO WORDS TO ME he apologizes then says may I help you. I look at the cashier who I believe is the manager if not the owner and he points to him as if to say I’m not helping you he can help you. This made made me feel humiliated I’ll never return ever.

I brought in a bike that was given to me by a friend . Apparently somebody abandoned at his job ,it was in pieces .. needed a tire and inner tube ( from what I could tell) . When I came in the store Andrew did not hesitate to come help me immediately . He grabbed the bike from me and took it to his work station. He looked throughout the bike very meticulously . He checked the Brakes , tires , brake cables ,shifter cables etc.. he then proceeded to carefully explain to me what the bike needed to be safely back on the road... he showed me the new parts that were going to be installed and told me the prices.. he told me they were about a week backed up work. The prices were fair on parts and labor so gave him the Ok on the work.. 3 days later the bike is done and ready for me.. I will definitely be coming back for more future maintenance and possibly a new E Bike. Thank you Andrew!!! He deserves a raise!!

This bike shop has great customer service, if you have any questions, concerns, or issues they go above and beyond to help you. They even gave me info on a bunch of local places to go ride my new mountain bike and suggested bike trail apps to download onto my phone. I would definitely do business with them again.

A couple of years ago I brought my 20 year old bicycle in for a tuneup. I had never had much done to it. The bike did need a little work, but I didnt want to buy a new one. I was used to the way it felt on my torso. The shop did a fine job.A couple of weeks ago I finally bought a new gel seat online. But it came with no post, and it didnt seem to be compatible with old post.Long story short, I brought the new seat and old old seat and post in. They looked at it and told me this was a 5 minute fix. And it was, for a very reasonable price. I was worried this was going to be a problem, and I am so pleased with their service!When it comes time finally for a new bicycle, this is where Im buying it.

I love this shop! My bikes always come back to me perfectly tuned and the owner and staff are always super friendly. This is the sort of shop that breathes life into a community. Shop small family owned businesses like this one and pump money back in to your community! You wont get this kind of customer service at big brand box stores that is for sure.

All my kids bikes came from a big box store until my teen wanted a good mountain bike. About a year ago we went looking and ended up at this shop. The staff was so great helping us pick a beautiful bike. My son has had a great time riding trails with his friends. He just broke his brakes and they repaired it in no time at no charge!!!Fabulous customer service!! Ill never go elsewhere.

I went to another bike shop on the area and they told me it would take 3 weeks before I can get repair service. On my way back home disappointed, I stopped here and they took a look at my bike right there!!!! Turns out my bike was fine!! If I had went to the other place I would have had to wait 3 weeks to get that answer!! They were really nice. I will be back!!

Great store, excellent service. I took my bike a few days before the DC bike ride, to get the brakes repaired and the attendant fixed it on the spot. The repair took only a few minutes and he tightened a few minor things as well - all for a great price. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I would definitely return.

I walked in with my dads bike that had been sitting in our garage for 20 years. I was expecting to pay an arm and a leg to get it into riding shape (its sentimental) but they honestly let me know I didnt need a whole overhaul and saved me a lot of money! Not pushy or looking to milk people, such a refresher. I also watched them work and it seems they all definitely know what theyre doing and love the shop. Ill be a customer for life for sure!

I must give credit where credit is due: The people in this shop are friendly and helpful. They seem to give you their genuine opinions and not just try to up-sell you.I must also emphasize, however, youll pay a premium for that level of service. Their pricing strategy is a bit of a gimmick: They price most everything at least 15% higher than youll find elsewhere. They then lure you in with a regularly published 15% off Any One Item coupon. I guess if you only buy one item at a time, with a coupon, you wont overpay, too much.

I went here to get a bike tire replaced, and since it was my first time, I asked if they wouldnt mind showing me how to do it. Ryan took me right into the shop and walked me through the whole process, step by step. Afterwards, he recommended a few products and then Sarah took over and answered all of my questions. Easy and painless shopping experience. Purchased two bikes for my daughters, and it took maybe ten minutes from first seeing their kids/bmx style bikes to purchase. Price was right, and they held the bikes until I picked them up on Christmas eve day...around noon, a week after I bought them. Definitely going back to buy mountain bikes for the wifey and I. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous.

Excellent bike shop for repairs/bike service. I had purchased a bike frame from a private seller, and was having trouble finding a headset to fit it.Family Bikes was able to help me identify a headset that would work and did a great job with the install.I like the guys here, too. Some bike shop employees are a bit elitist; these guys meet you where youre at.

These people only stole my money, I took my bicycle for a tune up and they gave it to me in the same way, they put on the bill that they changed the brakes and they were the same ones that I installed myself days before, I asked them to undermine a bearing and They did not do it, bad service, that is not worth it.

I love having Family Bike Shop right in the neighborhood. I brought in a too small bike for me, that I purchased off of craigslist, and they were able to help make some changes to the bike to make the fit more comfortable so that I could ride it for over a year before deciding to purchase a better fitting bike. Prior to my first Ironman distance event, they gave my bike the once over to settle my superstitious mind. Always willing to think outside the box. Always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and great people to boot...or pedal.

Always excellent customer service. The folks (Jonathan, Sara and Ryan) at Family Bike Shop have a passion for cyclists. The word Family definitely fits since it always feels like visiting family everytime we go into the shop. Jonathan and the folks there always take care of me and my bikes. Anytime I have brought my bikes in so many times over the past four plus years for a quick once over and they would recommend repairs with safety in mind if necessary.Most recently Jonathan was able to work with Shimano to get my cranks replaced at no cost. Due to not knowing how long that might take I decided to purchase a new backup bike to ride while awaiting my other bike to be repaired. Got a great deal on a backup bike that kept me riding.Thanks Family Bike Shop for always being there.

Awesome local bike shop, Ive purchased every bike ever owned from here, and wont go anywhere else. They are extremely knowledgeable, community focused, and very friendly.

I have purchased several bikes, helmets other items from these people and given them service workI walked in the store with my daughter today to purchase her a new helmet and look at bikes for my wife. There were no customers in the store and the only greeting we got was from the dog while a woman, a man and a teenage boy were too busy talking about dogs behind the counter to ask me if I needed help.We looked at helmets on the display rack and the woman looked at me, turned her head and continued to talk to the man. No may I help you, or even an acknowledgement of my existence was given. I was thoroughly insulted and we walked out.My wife went there and tried to get a bike fitting with them several weeks ago. She was rudely asked if she was a professional (absolutely not), and when she said no, she was asked why she thought she needed a fitting and that they were too busy to help her. Ridiculous - bike fittings are one of the menu selections on their website - see for yourself. I thought, well, maybe they were having a bad day that day.Apparently theyve gotten too big for their own britches and no longer need to consider customer service.I will never go there again!My daughter and I went to Annapolis Velo after we left the shop in Crofton.We were immediately met by a courteous young woman who asked if we needed help. She was very helpful with my daughters helmet selection.A young man working on a bike behind the counter even greeted us and the owner who was in the back of the shop working on something also came out and greeted us.The folks at Annapolis Velo know what customer service is and will have my business from today forward!

I called to find out the cost to assemble a bike not purchased from this store. While the person answering the phone was quite nice, the price was ridiculous and more than what I paid for both childrens bikes together. $125 to put a bike together, I think not. While I have been to the store for other purchases before and was satisfied, I did not think this was necessarily a family friendly situation.

WORST Experience Ever, my bike was riding Perfect until My Husband and I took it into the Family Bike Shop in Crofton, to have a water bottle holder placed on it, they said sure then placed my bike on the stand and convinced us that it needed just a little fine Tuning We decided to leave it for a couple of days so that they could make the minor repairs. When my husband returned to pick up my bike he finds they had completely disassembled my bike, and stated that it could not be repaired ; but offered to sale us one of their bikes instead . I had never been so disgusted in my life (with such terrible service)..... The guys in this shop have terrible customer service skills, they have the approach of a car sales man trying to sale a bike and make a deal..... Rather than a family shop whose goals is to services bike riding families and those who are passionate about their bikes. MY advice please dont go in this shop to buy a bike or get you bike repaired..... They should really look into changing their name to the BIKE DEALERSHIP OF CROFTON......PAST CUSTOMER & DISAPPOINTED RIDER!
