The North Co-op is my favorite grocery store. They generally have high quality local produce at good prices. The owner discount is helpful for food budgets. They have some good vegan baked goods, and their bulk section is outstanding. The atmosphere in the store is friendly and relaxing.

Prices have gone up noticeably in the past few months. Who can afford to shop here regularly?? It’s a lot cheaper to shop for produce at the farmers’ market! Customer service is hit-or-miss with some very kind employees and others that just can’t be bothered. On top of that, the bakery items are poor quality and deli ready-foods are crazy overpriced. I do subscribe to a cooperative, community-minded philosophy and prefer to shop bulk/zero-waste/locally/sustainably. But this co-op seems to cater to a high-income clientele with more focus on high-priced organic items than equitable access and collective purchasing power.

Definitely would not choose this as my go too store. There are several other places in town way cheaper and have much better employees and managment. Who wants to pay $5 for a sports drink?

Great local grocer, serving South Corvallis for over 50 years. If you are looking for quality food and beverage at a great price, minimal packaging - this place is for you. My first stop for all my food needs. Excellent customer service and knowledgable staff. Extensive bulk selection.

Local, humane, organic, Corvallis staple. People read the labels here and care about what they are consuming and from where it came.

Co-op, the term hopefully will grow among us. FA( First Alternative) brings fresh produce from local farms, ethical products, so many choices abound. Vegan products are popular, the store offers meat and dairy products from local and/or state. They offer a deli that provides dishes to heat, huge array of desserts and go food like sandwiches, each half wrapped separately, salads and innovative food ideas. A well stocked variety in bulk foods also, wine and beer, local bakery bread and so much more. It is a true co-op, membership is for lifetime, voting for delegates for the Board and discounts.❤❤❤

Well I have to start the folks at the North co-op are so nice they’re fantastic they go out of their way to help you in anyway they can and that’s first now the food is fantastic throughout the place and you can get almost anything in there !!for a co-op I was thinking more of lower percent prices but that’s not the case you’re about in tune with Market of Choice....So I say support them!Their local and Market of Choice is from Eugene so it’s technically Local too but I still feel we should support the co-op and also ask them for a little more competitive pricing as more and more people jump in and carry better foods some of the same foods they carry like ie: organic bananas $.98 right down the street they’re $.78 ...I still want to support them and believe they will be more conscious in picking their prices because the people are fantastic and they can do better because they’re a multi million dollar industry and keeping the folks that are helping them stay in business more abreast with better pricing!!Better Health and Good Neighbors !!For it is a “Co-Op”!up date ;Thanks for your quick response but I think my point was misunderstood direct to the point it’s a co-op and as co-ops go ,I believe it’s doing pretty good but why with all the other stores in the area , that are also carrying local produce and alternative goods And quality products...do i see the prices higher at the CoOp then the highest priced quality local store !! And I used bananas as a example. But going even deeper products that are the same products at other stores in the area are less than the co-op and as a Co op goes if I understand it right you have combined co-op buying power similar to their buying power so why on a fairly regular basis are the prices higher at the co-op for the same items elsewhere in the very same town I guess that’s what my point and question was And no disputing the co-op folks are great but none of the other stores are shabby as far as the workers either they smile just as nice as they go out of their way just as much and they’re also very kind hy..are the prices escalating for the same items yet going down else where!! ??

As a student, Im grateful this is an option. I eat at their cheap and delicious salad bar/hot food bar 3 times a week. As a grocery store, I do wish they had more options all around. I prefer Capellas Market in Eugene if I need to do major grocery shopping. That said, their sales and prices are better than Capellas. The name First Alternative Natural Food Co-op is just awkward but does it really matter? Thanks for being my nearly daily lunch go-to. The wholesome food is nourishing for my engineering studies.

.50 cent scoops of rice and $2 cups of soup? Incredible. Dinner on a budget. And super healthy. Homemade muffins and cookies? The best. Great produce section, and lots of bulk to choose from. Fun people to jibe with. Get outta town! (but stop here first). North store rules the school (sorry South, never been the same since you lost the tree).

Love everything about this place. Fresh produce. Great variety in the bulk bins. Lots of locally sourced foods. Fun non food items too! Cards, mugs, jewelry, pins, stickers and more! Hot breakfast bar, coffee, and tea available every morning. Salad bar available at 11. Take out or eat in the seating area. Helpful and friendly people!COVID update: No salad bar, coffee bar, or in store dining. Can grab prepared food to go. Masks requires. Surfaces sanitized between customers.

This is a good store for me to look for spices and grains in the bulk section. It is very convenient to park, go in and get things quickly. Many people do not value convenience so other stores where prices for the same item is lower (sometimes 40% -50% of the First Alternative price) are a good option. All in all, I like coming here when I dont have tons of time to go to bigger stores.

Closed my owner share after experiencing more drawbacks than benefits.First Alt lied to all its owners about the patronage dividend payout. The email everyone received says, “80% will be retained as equity under the Owners’ names.”This is a brazenly false. First Alt did NOT apply 80% of the patronage dividend to the owners’ equity as their email literally states. In other words, if you close your account, the equity they give back to you will only be the equity you originally invested. They will only apply your dividend equity to your owner share if they don’t use it for something else. It’s disturbing, but entirely within character, that First Alt would so grossly misrepresent the truth.Owners can open a “tab” if they are checking out and forget their wallet. Some random stranger put a charge on my account. Apparently, cashiers don’t check the person’s ID against the name associated with the account number. When I was contacted a week later to pay the bill, it took hours of emailing before they found proof that I didn’t place the transaction. This obnoxious situation would not have happened if management had better policies in place and communicated to employees.Almost every time I place a special order on a sale item, they price it wrong. On occasion, they drop the order entirely without telling me.Some of the deli staff is intent on avoiding customer interaction. Trying to get their attention to acquire meat/sandwiches/etc. is painfully awkward and unwelcoming. These long-term issues reveal that certain managers are thoroughly disconnected; they consistently fail to address feedback and make improvements. The hiring practices and pay rates are rife with double standards and inconsistencies. The label “co-op” is a façade—First Alt. operates about the same as any corporate natural grocery chain, except you have to pay to be a member. The benefits are negligible and not worth the investment.

I absolutely love the quality of each product they carry, as I have yet to find fault in anything I have purchased. However, the service here is quite terrible. Each time I check out the cashiers act very odd and never want to chat. Only once has a cashier given me a bean for the fundraising- never had I known about that. I will continue to shop here as I feel I always get great produce and grocery items (plus I love their bulk section) but the quality of customer service is at a very low point.

Love the selection. Very expensive but usually worth it, I shop here whenever I want the best fruits and veggies in town. However, once I bought a loaf of organic bread from here, then one day later it was covered in black mold. I dont know their quality check system, but it was kinda disappointing
