Order a Suzuki 25HP with all the shortages going on right now I understand why it took longer than usual to receive my outboard. But my engine got delivered fast (South Texas) and I would definitely use them again. Ask for Scott.

I was able to put a deposit down on a Tohatsu 6HP that was still being shipped from Japan unlike another online dealer that would only notify you by email when the motor would arrive and still had not gotten that notification even after I had received delivery of the outboard from this company. They answered my questions thoroughly and listened to my concerns and time frame for delivery. The item came undamaged, on time, and started the motor within 2 days. I ordered an outboard from their online store and had it shipped to my house. I had an invoice and tracking number the same day as I ordered it. While I have not fired the outboard yet, it came in the original packaging from Tohatsu with the warranty card for registration. Quick service, good selection, and great prices.

I don’t usually write reviews but the service I received was great. I was skeptical about buying an outboard online but after reading numerous reviews I decided to give it a shot. The purchase process was very easy, there were issues with tracking (which seems to be the norm with fedex these days) but Lori was on top of everything and kept me informed with what was going on and even followed up to make sure fedex got in touch with me. She was great through the whole process. I will definitely be using outboarddirect.com in the future and recommending them to anyone looking to make a purchase.

Poor customer service and price gouging. They are unorganized. Product listed as in stock really not in stock. Raised price of engine by over $400 due to low inventory from competitors. Avoid and deal with more reputable businesses.Owner attempts to blame customer for poor organization. Website is not accurate, shows inventory as in stock. When I order, then told item is actually out of stock. Owner was gracious to refund money 100% for an item he didnt have as he stated in his reply below.I checked inventory again for a suzuki 20hp engine, it was not in stock, so I decided to order a tohatsu engine, once that order was placed, the next day I saw a suzuki in stock and asked if I could cancel the tohatsu and reorder the Suzuki. I was told that was a mistakes and suzuki was not really in stock. Then the next day owner called me to say oops, yes the suzuki is in stock and changed my order.Price paid on suzuki plus free shipping is comparable to several of owners competition, so its not like he did only me a favor with that price, it was priced in accordance with what his competitors are selling same product for.Website showed another Suzuki 20hp in stock so I inquired to purchase only to be told that no its really not in stock, but he did have a Mercury in stock he would sell me for $3800. I looked up that motor and found several of his competitors selling exact same model for $3400 and asked if he could price match. He said normally he would, but since the competitors didnt have the engine in stock he would not lower it. That is his right to do in as he is the seller. He can raise his price and not match his competitors and gouge due to low supply. As a customer, a repeat customer, I can take my business elsewhere to a dealer that will sell motors at fair market price. There is no slander in this review. This is 100% true and my experience.

Ordered a Tohatsu 8hp for my Jon boat online. Their service was great. Price was the lowest I could find on the internet and it was delivered from TN to MI in just 3 days.

The 115hp Mercury four stroke engine on my boat with 39 hours and under warranty was missing so I asked the owner if they would look at it. They had it four six weeks and only changed a fuel filter which didnt fix the problem. They didnt have the correct computer software so they couldnt analyze the problem despite telling me they were an authorized mercury dealer.I finally took it elsewhere. This dealer fixed the problem in two days. It was a bad spark plug. Does that tell you how capable Plateau Marine is- six weeks? They are disorganized, unresponsive and basically a clown show. They also need a new service manager.
