Best comic book store in the area. Its great there there are local shops like this. Their events are amazing for example they have a free comic book day where theres a very long line with food and you can see some superheros! (cosplay).

A clean, well lit comic shop. Joe Field (the owner) is a leader in the industry. The shop provides great selection to young and old. From classics to hot off the press. Flying Colors also offers great events from time to time with great artists and local hand made treats. The staff also is very friendly and has excellent knowledge of their trade.If you are looking to get your child to read, comics are a great start. Flying Colors is the place to take them and the staff are the ones to lead you to the right book.Remember the two countries with the highest literacy ratings (Germany and Japan) push comics on their children from a young age. It has a proven record to raise reading comprehension and acts to the brain the same as playing the piano.

Exceptional customer service. Both experiences I had with Flying Colors exceeded my expectations. It would have been really easy for the staff to dismiss me due to my lack of comic knowledge. However, all of my questions were answered professionally and with courtesy. It was also obvious that the owner and the staff really know comics. Rare to find such a gem nowadays. Nice little business with comics and books for people of all ages. Nice options for little kids and our Tween is hard to pull away when he’s browsing the different options inside.Some of the material is definitely more mature but easy to navigate and keep younger kids focused on age appropriate stuff.Always clean and quiet, and it’s a good spot for buying a quick gift or some leisurely shopping/browsing after an ice cream cone from the Baskin Robbins next-door.

These store is awesome! They have Manga, comics, and baseball cards! When you go in ask for Spencer! Hes super knowledgeable of comics, has never steered me the wrong way!!

I love it here. The staff are knowledgeable of their comics. Even when the store was full of customers, there were still employees walking and asking if they could answer questions.

2 things make this place great. The people, and the organization. The people working here are very friendly and super approachable, it makes getting help really easy and sometimes fun. Unlike some other comic shops Flying Colors has an organized collection and finding a comic is a easy as singing the alphabet.

These guys are great! I went in and asked what they had in terms of Venom and they gave me several options including the best place to start. Im new to comics and they were really helpful in terms of getting my feet wet. Ill definitely be back once im done with the books I got today!

6/20/17Well I THOUGHT I’d left this review a long time ago, but it seems as though it’s only today I’m actually telling you how awesome Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff is! If you haven’t been in this ‘comics and more’ store within Oak Grove Plaza, come check them out.I’m not personally much of a comic book person, but I can appreciate the collection they have here and the knowledgeable staff. I had a work project a few years back that involved the valuation of a collection of comic books (none of which turned out to be of much value) but the store owner was super nice and took his time looking them over and talking with me.I live nearby, so sometimes I walk over just to browse the aisles a bit before stopping next door for ice cream or groceries. This unique store and it’s staff are definitely a fun contribution to our neighborhood and this plaza.

Clean, great layout, lots of comics. The staff wasnt really engaging. I might have bought something but no one really came up and asked about my or my kids interests, etc. Comics and graphics novels galore

My opinion, by far, the best place to buy comic books..new or old issues. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I saw a father that wanted to introduce comics to his young daughter. One of the staff members stopped what he was doing and proceeded to talk and introduce what was specific to her age group.

I understand each experience is different, and I know this may be unique to my experience however, I visited this store on Sunday and found the employee there to be a bit condescending. I am a pretty avid collector and reader of comic books. I live in Sacramento and was visiting family in Walnut Creek. I decided to see if the store had any rare variant covers of the Uncanny Xmen. I was greeted with an explanation of rare variants and the store doesnt do 1:500 variants. Plenty of stores in Sacramento partake in these so I was surprised by his response. I was going to still buy some stuff but my wife who was with me told me We arent spending a dime here, he was disgusting. I am a bit more forgiving than her because I know the need for collectors to flex thier knowledge. Suffice it to say I left without buying anything even though I saw some books I wanted. Hope to come back and have a different experience.

Small store but theres so much to rummage through. I can spend hours in there. Its very organized and the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Its a must go to spot for comic book lovers of all ages

I come to this comic shop once a month when I go on road trips. This is one of the best comic book shops in the bay area with plenty of newer copies of new releases. The staff is always friendly.

Came in to check out a new comic book shop. Did not disappoint at all. Clean store with plenty of space and a variety of displays. I wandered over to the $8 hardcover bins and I stumbled upon a Battle of the Atom (10 issues). I thought it had to be a mistake. An employee saw me looking through it and pointed out that 4 pages were torn on one corner. $60 cover price? Ill take it!Helpful, talkative employees, deals, I love it!

They have alot of things comic book related and mangas. From the books them selves in new issues and collected volumes. Along with posters and toys. Its always a pleasant trip over there.

Ive been coming here for years. They always have something for everyone. They even carried my CAOS funko pop!

My wife grew up coming here and so its a special place. If you think about how physical media seems to be dying (Barnes and Noble), the fact that this little comic book store is still alive is amazing. I get my fill of Dark Knight materials anytime I drop by.

Okay this place deserves a 5 star but there is one thing that really grinds my gears at this store. that one thing is the rack. its not the selection , its not the arrangement, its the locations. i dont know who thought it would be a good idea to have the magazine rack at my feet. its like i gotta bend down and squat to see half of the store. I am tall so this is really annoying at times. if the owner is reading this please for the love of god fix this problem with your store. it also makes it hard to put back a book if i dont want to buy it sometimes i dogear books just putting them back on the shelf. other then that the store is a comic book paradise with toys and books and everything else you would expect a comic store to have.

My parents sent me to high school near Flying Colors in the mid 90s as I was a troubled youth from a few towns over. I bought my first comic here on a lark after getting a soda from C&B. It soon became my shop of choice replacing the shop I had bought my comics at for years. After moving away for college and life, I was able to bring my family back to Concord a few years ago and one of the first things I did was go back into my LCS. The staff remained friendly and ridiculously helpful. The pretension you often find at shops where the need to out nerd or one up someone when asking questions is nowhere to be seen. Its simply a wonderfully run small business. One Im happy and proud to support.This shop easily makes into the top 5 best things about living in Concord.

This fabulous store has an amazing collection of comics and books ranging from the just published to my murky childhood memories, and my fathers. If you love comics, this place is a shrine.

I dont know what it is but the staff always act uncomfortable around me lol. Even when I compliment one of them about one of their previous selections for me, they hesitate to engage. Prices here are retail, selection is always decent, though.
