Needed oil change and wheel alignment. Pushed my walk-in visit to 3 days later to make it convenient to be seen in the morning for a 9:30 appointment. Showed up 20 minutes early, left keys and was told “ call you when ready”. Was not informed it would take up to 4 hours. I returned later to know the status of my car and it was still sitting in the same spot where I left it. Was told vehicle wasn’t seen yet bc I still have 3 cars ahead of me. Asked for keys without service being done. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Tl;dr : good work if you’ve got time to waitThey’ve always done good work on my car, brought it in for an inspection the last few years. My only issue is the past few times I’ve made appointments online and it’s been forever before hearing back. I made an appointment at a certain time, but they waited until the next day to even look at my car. I wouldn’t mind waiting if that’s what I would have been told. When I make an apt at 4pm, my car should be seen around 4pm, or they need to say it’s going to take longer. All In all, prices are fair and not a scam. They do good work as well. Just make sure you don’t need your car for a day or so.

Best price around for an alignment. Friendly service and wasn’t too pushy trying to get me to buy new tires or additional services.

I got a flat on the L.I.E and decided to get both my front tires changed by the guys at Mavis. The shop is extremely close to my home and it would be quick repair. Talk to the clerk, got a price and left my car over night and didnt think much of it. Next day I went to pick my car up. The tire replacement wasnt bad, both tires were new and looked great. The mechanic told me that my car also got an alignment done. I was happy that was handled too. After paying the $453 dollars I went to my can, checked the back and saw a massive scratch on my trunk. Deep and unpleasing to look at. I informed them that my car was scratched. The man told me it couldnt of been done here cause the lifts dont lift from the back. What ever that means. I told him that then the scratch happen somewhere else here b/c I know I didnt leave it my car with a deep scratch. He told me the boss would review the video tape and get back to me the same day.I didnt hear anything from them that day so I came back the following day to see how they would help me fix it. They informed me that the boss just got out the hospital recently and would review the video on Monday. About 5 days from when I got the tires replaced. I drove around with my car with the scratch and did some investigating on my own. I looked through my dash cam to see if I can find anything to show when the the damage took place. I wasnt able to catch anyone red handed however i did find something else. There was a clip where one of the clerks took my car out for a drive to see if the car needed and alignment. After driving it for about 2 minutes he says on the camera this car doesnt need no f***ing alignment. Than why was i charged with $89 alignment? At this point I was just fully aware of the dishonesty and bad service that was taking place.When Monday rolled around I went back to the shop to see any updates. The clerk asked if I got a call from the boss. I said no. He gave a call to the boss while I was there and asked if he took a look at the videos. Then responded to the boss by when do you think you can take a look at the videos?. Implying that no was informed in the first place. This just showed me that there was no interest in resolving the issue. This is when I brought up the alignment I received. Showed the clerk the video of their mechanic clearly saying that it didnt receive any alignment service. The clerk in the front called the mechanic to the front, and asked him to explain the video. The guy explanation was something to the effect of, he already did the alignment for car thats why he said this car doesnt need a one? I did not buy this explanation so I told them to not insult my intelligence and just admit. He doubled down and I just didnt want to deal with with and just moved back to the main topic of, how will the scratch be fixed. He told me I will receive a call at end of the day. So I waited.No call. To this point I was cordial with them and just was willing accept that mistakes were made. However when I back I wanted to resolve this issue once and for all, it was a full week at this point with no steps towards anything. I went back to check updates and a new clerk told me that the video was inconclusive. Also saying that if the accident happened on their parking lot, that they arent responsible...I cut straight to the point. I gave them 3 options I could see this going down. One, they accept their mistake, send me to a autobody repair shop and get it fixed. By gones be by gones. Two, refund me in full for the awful service and lose my business. Or three, deny their wrong doing and i take legal action b/c I will not let someone or a company damage my property and get away with it.Long story short, they offered refunded me $375 and I accepted that b/c I didnt want to waste any more time. I dont leave reviews but I simply had to. Just looking out for future costumers. If they admitted to their mistake, I honestly would probably go back in the future. Just a dishonest job. (sorry for type-o)

We have been going to Mavis for a couple of years now, we have done business in several stores and have a great experience each time. The prices are fair and the work has been flawless. Commack Mavis team has gone well beyond what was necessary to help us with our repairs. We will continue to send our vehicles to Mavis.

I chose my tires online & set up an appointment. Mike contacted me & said the tires weren’t in stock. But he should have them in, by my appointment date. He called me numerous times with updates & got the tires in on time. He was polite, friendly and extremely professional throughout all our calls. When I got to Mavis, Chris was at the desk. He was also friendly & professional. He added on an oil change for me which I forgot to mention. The mechanic that worked on my car did an excellent job. The tires were balanced perfectly and not a drop of oil anywhere on the engine. I highly recommend Mavis in Commack.

Commack Mavis is by far the most efficient Mavis I’ve been too. Carlos works diligently, and explains everything detailed for customers to understand. Very honest store and hard and fast workers! Would definitely recommend this location, and Carlos is a asset to the company.

Brought my car in to get a tire patched up. They got me in and out in about an hour. Top notch. Highly recommended. Ill definitely be coming back when in need of service.

I had to come back and remove the five star rating. Recent experiences with Mavis have left me feeling like they are doing shady things with the billing, and their work is sloppy now. Im really disgusted. After eight or nine years bringing my car, and those of my wife and her kids, we are done with Mavis Tire, Maybe some day I will come back and tell the story of the stupid BS they put us through, but I will probably put up a web site and link it here.

Just recently had tires installed on my truck, Had a terrible experience with this particular Mavis (Commack NY) The technician that worked on my truck Damaged one of the trucks rims. The technician said it’s not his fault “ Had a long day and he’s tired “ The manager won’t do anything about rectifying the problem . I will not recommend this Mavis to anyone. They will never have my business again 👎👎👎

I went to this Mavis location to get my alignment fixed because I felt something was off (after JUST getting an alignment & tires a month ago at a different Mavis location). I called Commack to explain my situation and got in right away. Mike was so professional and friendly and not long after, I was told my alignment was shot. They re-adjusted it and took it for test drives. He even gave me a print out of what a normal alignment should look like. I had full intentions of paying, I didnt care because I just wanted the job done right and Mike let me know I had a 3 month warantee on the alignment. The other shop didnt even tell me about that! Nonetheless, Ill be going here from now on and I left very happy. Thank you Mike!

While replacing all 4 of my tires (which I was driving around with way longer than I shouldve) they called me to let me know I should really get new back rotors too, which was 100% true. Was able to get all of it done for a decent price and within a short amount of time. The man helping me behind the desk was super kind & friendly. Super happy with my experience!!

AN HONEST ESTABLISHMENT. THEY COULD HAVE TRIED TO SELL ME A NEW TIRE, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THE HOLE IN MY TIRE WAS REPAIRABLE.THEY DID A FINE JOB, AND DID NOT PROCRASTINATE. OTHER CUSTOMERS TOLD ME THAT THE PLACE IS VERY BUSY ON WEEKENDS.

Went here for a simple tire patch. 5 minute job. Even showed them where the puncture was. Went during my lunch break. By the time I drove back to work I already had a flat. The patch they put on failed literally the same day. Ended up having to patch it myself anyway.

Very disappointed I had an appt to fix a flat. When I got there I was told they couldnt do it for 2 hours. I understand that people went home sick! All I ask was to give a call to me instead of me going there and being turned away. Have some common courtesy!!

I had a grinding sound coming from the rear brakes on my 2011 Scion TC. I brought my car in to Mavis thinking I needed to get my brake pads replaced. I bought my car used and the previous owner had put aftermarket calipers on the car. The calipers had developed complications. They locked in the closed position due to rust and decay and after trying to free them with heat and lubrication it was obvious they required replacement. The manager Rob took a special interest and made sure that the end result of the service performed was above and beyond. My brakes are perfect and the new calipers shine a bright red through my rims. I would highly recommend Mavis to family and friends.

I wanted to write a review for Mavis of Commack . The manager was very understanding that being 70 years old I was concerned about having a much needed put off oil change . He took the time to look through his schedule and suggested when to come in to get out fast . He was wonderful ! The mechanic who changed my oil was polite and friendly . I would highly recommend Mavis of Commack .. you won’t be disappointed !!!.

Absolutely wonderful customer service at the Commack Mavis location. I needed a car inspection immediately since it was the last day and midas was inconsistent with their appointment so I booked on my way to mavis and they happily took me. Carlos was a delight and said it would be done in 20 mins in which it was. I didn’t have to wait long and they were following all protocols due to covid 19. I feel comfortable no matter what but I know a lot of people don’t. It was a very easy process and I didn’t need anything for the car. I will definitely be returning for my oil changes in the near future. Super convenient, phenomenal customer service and honest. Thanks again Mavis for making it easy

I used to come to this location all the time! The last time I was there was 3 months ago. The old manager rubbed me the wrong way! Hes like a robot with pre- set dictionary. If you asked him anything out of what I felt was his comfort zone he had no ans as well as no people skills!! From that day on I said I wouldnt come back if someone paid me! I would drive out of my way just to go to a diff store!! On my way home from work I hit a pot hole because God forbid we finish road work, my car started making a loud grinding noise. It was more of a scary sound. The more I drove the worse it sounded. I was about to pass Mavis & just get home. Im glad I stopped! Theres a new manager there. His name is Tim. He took me rite in. Very warm & welcoming!! Not trying to push things on me but making it clear. Things that need to be done now & things I can hold off of rite this second to save up a lil bit! To me that means more then anything!! Hes not just about the $$ that goes in his pocket hes about his customers as well. As I sat back & just watched the whole dynamics of the store, how everyone is together, as well as how he talks to his employees its just amazing!! (Esp after seeing how the store was ran previously). He will do great things for that store. & I can say all around everyone looked happy for once!! Everyone helping each other and smiling!! As for me!! I will 100% be back, as well as tell my family & friends if they have any issues bring it to Mavis- 2205 Jericho turnpike, Commack & ask for Tim- Hes the manager there!! Total RipoffMy son went in for an inspection yesterday and was told he needed brakes, routers , new shocks and new ball joints. Estimate was $1500I took the same vehicle to my mechanic Steve in syosset.that Ive used for many years.He said the vehicles brakes were in GREAT shape but the ball joints did need to be changed.He said the shocks were fine.Just another dirty mechanic trying to rip us off

Horrible place and service! My wife went to get a state inspection done at this place.Day 1: The guy at the front desk tells her the technician who does the inspections is not in today. Come back tomorrow.Day 2: My wife comes back at 9am and they tell her it will take 3 hours(!) before they can do the inspection.I call the manager Jim and he says he’s short staffed, has too much other work blah blah blah. Basically he was telling me my inspection was not important enough! I got the strongest feeling they either don’t like doing inspections or don’t want to do them because they don’t really make money on it. Either way this place is atrocious! Never going here again even for tires!

Had all 4 brakes and rotors done here. Was decently priced and happy with work. Wayne was very professional and friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking to get done same work.

I have always had a good experience at this Mavis. They are prompt, friendly and courteous. They do good work and respect your car. They get you in and out and never try to sell you anything that you do not need. Never overcharge you. I recommend this to anyone in need of tires.

Extremely satisfied with the prompt service when we went in with a flat tire. They had a replacement tire, which apparently is hard to find, as we went to 2 other tire shops who didnt carry the size. We were able to drop off the tire and it was ready for pick up within an hour.

Never go to the Commack location!!! First during this time of Covid it was NOT OKAY THAT THE MECHANIC WAS IN MY CAR WITH NO MASK OR GLOVES! Next I had them service my car and they left a light on that needed to be shut off in order to be inspected and for safety! I have been there FOUR TIMES IN TWO WEEKS AND GET THE RUN AROUND FOR THEIR MISTAKE. I made an appointment for today at 9 am to get there and be again told to come tomorrow! When this was not okay I had the gentleman call WAYNE the manager who said he would call me back and even come in to fix it. 4 hours and 4 calls later he has not called and I was now told he will call me TOMORROW! WAYNE IN A TIME WHEN YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL FOR BUSINESS YOU WILL LOSE OURS AND ALL OF OUR LOCAL FRIENDS! All you had to due was call and do the right thing. I have never left a bad review but in a time when businesses should step up and be human and kind you proved to be a horrible business man.

I went to this Mavis and asked for an oil change and a wheel alignment, now I do not know much about cars at all. The guy asked me which oil and I said full synthetic blend...I did not know that this was an up charge and he never told me it was which I think should have been mentioned. He wrote it up and I gave him the keys and went about my day, I was told an hour later that my car was ready. I go to get my car and to pay, the guy says that the bill is like $136 dollars...I have never in my life paid over $100 dollars for an oil change and wheel alignment. I look at the guy and say that has to be wrong there is no way...he tells me well you got an alignment which is $80 dollars and an oil change which was the premium oil change which costs $54 dollars. I was like well what do I usually get? He said you usually get a standard oil change...I then just think like why the hell would he have not mentioned that to me in the beginning rather than him just going along with what I had said!? He gave me two $10 dollar off coupons which I appreciate but regardless the bill was still $126 dollars but the fact that he could not point that out to me and that I paid over $100 dollars for the job is ridiculous. I know that I am a woman which I do not usually pull that card but I have been told by multiple people that this place definitely took advantage of me because I am a woman and do not know much about cars and prices. If this is the case then I hope they lose a lot of business from this review at the same time many people give Mavis a bad name but I decided to give them one last shot and well now I know never again. So Thanks for nothing.

Went to get my wheels aligned. After waiting 3 hours. Manager came out. Said they couldnt align them. And scratched 3 of my rims in the process. Will never go there again

I went in for a state inspection on a Friday afternoon. The shop was busy but staff was courtious. I didnt expect it to be done right away so I had my bike in car and biked home. Received a call an hour later, biked back and picked up my car. Inspection passed. I have nothing bad to say. I would try them again when I need further service.

I had my tires mounted and balanced, after I initially made an appointment with Pep Boys they said I had to wait an hour + before they could take me. I removed my tires from their shop and Mavis took me without an appointment.The work Mavis did was excellent, dont hesitate, they are very responsive and professional.

The team at this Mavis always takes care of our family needs! Lenny is very professional and is honest and straight to the point. Something you dont find at auto shops nowadays. Never had a problem with servicing high end cars here neither. ( Mercedes, etc)

The manager at Mavis was very pleasant and professional. I received tires for the same cost as Costco, and the service was 3X faster. I was very satisfied with both the product, Michelin Tires, as well as the service.

Here is the story of mine; after I complete front end job with my Buick, I drop to Commack mavis for alignment. They performed the alignment and I picked up my car right after their closing time. When I parked my car into my driveway, I heard noise from front left and did couple of times back and front to make sure what kind of problem it is. I live about 1 mile away from the shop. I called mavis immediately but they were close. I called them following morning and explain what happened, they ask if I can drop of the car so they can check. I dropped the car and they called me 6 hours later and report there is problem with steering wheel. When I told him there was no such a problem, he told me that his manager will call me. 1 hour later, I received a phone call from the manager named Mike and he told me there is a problem with the rack and pinion which theyve got nothing to do with it. I simply told him that to be able to perform alignment, you need to loose inner and outer tie rods which is connected to rack and pinion. He was keep repeating alignment has no connection with rack and pinion at all. I simply hang up and went to shop to talk in person, same scenario but this time, manager mike was talking to me without looking at my face and he was keep cutting me off while I was talking. I asked the person name wayne who was behind counter if Mikes statement is true as a certified mechanic, wayne confirmed whatever mike says is true. After I found no solution with this manager, I told both mike and wayne that I will take this to court and left the facility. As a last thing, I called the headquarter to report my experience, they listened and create a claim for me and told me the regional manager will call me. In the mean time I took my car to my mechanic and hold my car few days and told my mechanic to fix. Nobody called me ten days and I decided to call them to follow up. I spoke with a lady who told me a very surprised information; mike is the regional manager who is following my case. I told the lady how come the person who has been complained is the person who will resolve the issue, what kind of corporation is this then she transfer me over to someone also named Mike which he didnt even listened why I called. I am taking this matter to small claim court and post the result after.

Literally dropped my car off at 8:30am, called at 10am to ask whats the hold up, and they told me we will take it in shortly.. fast forward another hour, and I go back to the shop at 11:30am and my car is sitting in the same spot that I left it in since 8:30... I went in and asked for my keys and the only explanation I could get is, Im sorry .. never coming back

Rip off joint. Went there with a nail in the tread of my car with only 9k miles on it. And with barely a glance, the guy said I needed a new tire (at over $130) under the guise that the nail was to close to the edge, which it was clearly not. Went to Rob s Auto Svc down the road and they put in a plug which is working fine for $20. Beware of these guys!

Called ahead to make appt. and make sure they could get me in right away, as i was waiting while oil change was to be done. They did not start oil change for 1 hour. Spent 2 hrs of my day for an oil change. Will likely not return to this location.

Update 06/09/2015: Called Mavis corporate and was immediately issued a full refund after calmly explaining the situation. At least they have their act together.Summary: I was charged for work that wasnt done, and was in a worse spot than when I showed up. Got a flat last week and had to use fix-a-flat on account of not having room for a spare (like many new cars). Called this Mavis and was told $19.99 for the flat repair, and a 4-wheel rebalance special was running for 29.99 - seemed like a good deal, so stopped right in with no wait. While car was being serviced, the manager, Ivan, and one of the workers had a back and forth concerning the inconvenience of having to scoop out the fix-a-flat residual in order to get consistent balancing. They had to dismount and remount the damaged tire a couple of times, but never verbally stated they were any issues with finishing up besides the original complaint. Get home, and notice the work order receipt states couldnt find the leak (had fix-a-flat inside) even though I was still charged the $19.99. Odd. Fast forward a few days, I do my normal check on the car and note that the cold tire pressure on one of the tires was 35PSI instead of the factory recommended 24PSI, and another tire was missing the aluminum matching valve cap off the stem. Drive on the highway after correcting the tire pressure, and now the cars back to shaking due to at least one wheel being out of balance. Thats another $29.99 gone to waste. Today I called Mavis back and spoke to Ivan to have this work clarified. He states that theres no refund possible because the workers at the time HAD completed the work and regardless if they were able to do it successfully or not its not his fault. I was charged for a tire dismount and remount fee instead of the leak repair fee because they couldnt find the leak. Additionally, I informed him that Im not trusting enough to bring my car back there for a balance, so instead Ill get written proof that the tires had to be rebalanced and forward that paperwork to him for a refund - Which was abruptly Denied. I was then told that as a mechanic I should be aware that theyre not responsible for what I bring to them. Disgusting. This is why I do all my own work whenever possible - you honestly cant trust anyone...even with the simplest of tasks.

Just got new brakes at a good price ,for my truck.

Brought my Hyundai Eleantra in for a $59.00 brakes special at 6:00pm, John called about 15 minutes later to explain and suggest that I have some other items done to the car and why I should do the repairs. He discounted the prices on these repairs which made it a no-brainer to have them done while the car was in the shop. Repairs were done within 1 hr and 30 minutes and John even threw in a free oil change the next time I come in, which I thought was a great marketing tool. Service was excellent and I would highly recommend bringing your car to Mavis.

Wish I could give zero stars. I brought my car here to buy some new tires. Mavis recommended that I do a full rotor and brake pad replacement. They assured me the parts they put on would be as good as my current Brembos and that id save some money. Sounds good right?Fast forward, they replace my brakes, only a few days later they are uncontrollably squeaking. I bring the car back and im accused of racing my car and told they are not doing anything to fix it. Incompetent management that was not willing to help and do the right thing for the customer.

I asked the manager a heavy set man in a white shirt if they checked the air pressure in the tires and he says I think so, as a manager he should have just asked them instead of saying i think so and leaving it at that.I left thinking it was fixed and it was still off. The regional manager said they are supposed to test drive it after they do the alignment, my guess is they didnt or they would have realized it was still pulling to the left.Long story short I went to another Mavis (in Islandia) a few days later cuz I wanted to make sure I wasnt just paranoid. They found the problem and fixed it for me.
