Star Music is still alive and kicking! Im so grateful that there are still Mom and Pop music stores around. Prices are great, staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and the shop is clean and organized. Rentals are inexpensive yet offer great quality investments, and check out the academy too! Thanks Star Music!

This store is WONDERFUL!!! It was very clean and organized with a great selection of instruments and gear. The staff member who worked with me, Chris, knew his stuff and was super informational. The store even ordered the specific strings I was looking for and had them ready for me the next time I came in! Everyone working there was super welcoming and gave the store a very lively feel to it. Not very often anymore can you find a true music store with customers and staff openly jamming in it and inviting to have anyone join for the joy of music! They have wonderful music teachers who are dedicated to the musical growth of their students. Definitely going to continue coming to this store for now on for all my music needs.

Terrible experience with individual working on 10May2019 hopefully not a reflection of the entire company price for repair of flute was doubled upon pick up, no courtesy phone call that it was ready for pick up, then he gave me a lection on whole sale which he made no sense or relation to the music repair than I ask for what was done to the instrument and he said read the tag its all on there. What terrible customer service wish I would have got his name to inform management definitely will not deal with them again in the future! One star for the service repairs!

Good service, usually have replacement reeds and strings in stock. If not, can get from other locations fairly quick. Instrument repairs always take a week, pricing is on par with other places.

For the record, I have never posted a negative review before though it may have warrented, but the treatment my partner and I received from Northeast Star Music employees was so egregious, I felt compelled to make it public. About 4 days before school started, the octave key on our sons tenor sax stopped sealing properly. I couldnt get a hold of our regular repair guy so I called around for service. Northeast Star Music said they would try to get the sax repaired by friday 8/23 when our son needed it for the football pep rally. To expediate the process, I volunteered to drive even further into Columbia to the other Star Music store where the repair person could readily retrieve it. The repair person had to replace several key pads and called me mid week to explain that ants had got into the sax case and made a snack out of the leather pads. He further explained how he would place all the contents of the case including the sax in a tall kitchen trash bag to protect it from the ants and the case in a separate bag until we received the items back and were able to exterminate the ants within the case. Everything seemed great and the Columbia store promptly brought the items back to the Northeast store so we could pick them up on Friday. I work out of town, so my partner arrived at the Northeast Star Music store about 2:15 pm. When she got there, employee #1 handed her the sax in its bag and nothing else. She asked about the case and employee #1 said there was no case. My partner knew if nothing else, there was a case too. Finally, after a few go arounds, employee #1 said he would ask someone else. Employee #2 comes over and finds the bag with the case. He takes the case out, gets the sax body out of its bag, places it in the case, closes the lid and hands the case to my partner. First of all, he was not supposed to cross contaminate the two items, and second of all, my partner is not a musician and was not present when the items were surrendered and therefore had no reason to believe employee #2 hadnt put the ENTIRE instrument in the case. She paid for the repair and drove the sax back to the high school just in time for our son to play it...except the NECK WAS MISSING! We were initially just in a panic that the Northeast store didnt know the neck and other items were still in the trash bag and maybe threw them out by accident...I mean mistakes happen right? So I called the Northeast store and I learned that it was employee #2 that took my call. My voice was a bit firm and stern but mostly out of panic as I explained that the neck was missing. Employee #2 was very quickly defensive and directly blamed my partner that she had left the items on the counter. First of all, my partner would NEVER have left any part of our sons instrument to her knowledge. Kitchen trashbags are not transparent and clearly no one told her there were more items in it. If employee#2 knew there were more parts in the bag, why did he let her walk out. Even if no one noticed that the items had been left on the counter until she was gone, why did no one call me or her immediately to let us know. We had given them both our names and numbers. I told employee#2 that I was aware of employee#1s obvious incompetence, but employee#2 was dismissive, saying he stepped in and remedied the situation...WHAT??!!..no HE made it worse. Finally, he kept saying, Maam, I apologize, BUT.... and continued to shift the blame to my partner. My partner was COMPLETELY innocent. All she was trying to do was pick up the items that belonged to us and get them to our son. Instead, my son had to go to the pep rally without his instrument and my partner and I were left feeling sick to our stomachs about what happened. And now tomorrow, my partner has to make another hour or so round trip and is riddled with anxiety over having to even see these people again. We would have gotten over an honest oversight with a sincere apology, but blaming the customer is not just bad business, its unforgivable. We will not Ever do business with this company again.

Not cool! I was convinced by the salesman to get a piece of junk instrument. It was banged up and pieces were broken. When I brought it back the salesman try to convince me that it was in a perfect playing condition they wanted to charge me almost $500.00 for it. I was given a hard time when I tried to return it and get my $ back. Eventually I was able to get a refund. I went to another store Music and Arts and got a brand new, better quality instrument for the same exact price, $500. MusicStar wanted to charge me $1300 for a new instrument.
