Great experience with Distinctive Surfaces! They made the process simple and did an excellent job start to finish

We had a great experience with Distinctive Surfaces.... despite having a relatively small job, Morgan gave us the time and help we needed to find the right granite countertops for our great room and laundry project! The tops were delivered in the timeframe given and installed perfectly! Morgan & Mackenzie are a great team! Would highly recommend and we will use them again in the fall when we re-do our kitchen!

We had some Granite order as well as a sink to go with our new counter tops. We dealt with Amanda during our transaction. We picked out a single basin sink and we were delivered a double basin sink. After review of the docusign agreement I realized I did not catch the error. I was hoping for a simple price comparison of the two sinks to make sure we were not charged for one item and delivered another. As any document you are signing it needs to be read carefully. I caught one error on the first set of e-paperwork that was sent to me but did not catch this error. Overall a simple phone call explaining what had happened would have been acceptable. I know we requested a single basin sink because that is what we discussed with our contractor as well. Overall I would not recommend.

Distinctive Surfaces just installed Fantasy Brown countertops for us. We dealt with both Morgan and Mackenzie and their crew of installers. Each and every person we dealt with was fantastic! Our countertops are gorgeous and we couldnt be happier! Their level of professionalism is unmatched and hard to come by in our area. Thank you so much Distinctive Surfaces, you rock!

Installed a leathered granite in an outdoor kitchen for me. They did a terrific job and the installers were amazing. They had to make some last minute alterations onsite, and did a terrific job. Professional, courteous, and an amazing finished product.

I purchased quartz from Distinctive for two bathroom vanities. From day one when I visited the showroom I was met with professionalism and knowledgeable help. My representative was Sam Maloy and he was very helpful and patient with me. I visited a few times to look at samples and Sam was again very patient and did not mind pulling out the samples again and again for me so I could be sure of my selection. I even visited their supplier in Charlotte, NC. The communication between Distinctive and the supplier about the quartz I chose was quick and precise. Sam was so thorough he even pointed out to me that the back splash may not fit with my choice of faucet. That there may not be enough space between the two. He was right. Even though this meant they would not make as much in the sale if I didnt install back splashes he was on top of all the measurements so as to avoid problems during installation. The installation went just fine and the installers were professional and courteous. They were running a little late for arrival but I did receive a phone call informing me of this. I would highly recommend Distinctive Surfaces and I will be using them again in the future for our next project. Hopefully I can work with Sam again when that time comes.

Sam and Mackenzie were very helpful. My customer was blown away with every step of the process and how efficient it was. Distinctive surfaces went out of there way to order more material for my customer to look at a few more slabs before she made her final decision. The install went flawlessly. Distinctive Surfaces also made a special accommodation for my customer to allow her to leave the refrigerator in place. This was huge since it did not inconvenience her or cause any major disruptions in her lifestyle. Sam took the time to speak with my customer and make sure that every question she had was answered. Mackenzie also reached out to us letting us know that we could expedite our project schedule by two weeks, my customer loved it.

Sam and McKenzie were very helpful and knowledgeable. I think I probably had the smoothest counter installation experience I could ask for. I definitely recommend going to see them!

Even though our job was small (quartz counters in a tiny kitchen) we couldn’t be happier with our experience at Distinctive Surfaces. From sales to installation I got what felt like VIP treatment. The counters are so beautiful and I highly recommend them!

Smooth and efficient kitchen counter top install. Small issue with color variance(from manufacturer) that was corrected immediately at Distinctives time and dime. 10/10 Would recommend! I saw a bad review on here and thought itd be a good idea to show some support for a remarkable company and send some positive vibes their way.

Great planning, countertop selections, good contractors and fair prices.

We have been working with Distinctive Surfaces for several years. Our firm has worked with several stone suppliers and installers in the area and Distinctive Surfaces is the company we recommend to our clients. Their showroom is impressive, their sales staff extremely knowledgable and their installers are detailed, courtesy and professional. TFO and our clients are always thrilled with the final product!

Our experience started out well with Blair (who is no longer there) then went downhill with the install. We wanted to replace our kitchen countertops with a quartz product. On install day, one countertop was cut to short, one was cut too long and the soap dispenser hole was missing. Only the longer countertop was installed that day. After the crew left we removed the plastic cover, we realized the countertop color/pattern was different than the sample. We had to follow up with Distinctive Surfaces the next day after not receiving a follow-up call from the company.After 3 weeks, the owner finally viewed the one countertop and reported that variation can still occur with quartz products even through we were told that quartz had very little variation. The owner never offered an apology for the inconvenience and bragged about how many jobs he had done in our neighborhood even implying about getting a difficult project completed with one of our neighbors by last name. After contacting two neighbors by that last name (coincidentally both used DS) and hearing their negative experiences, we realized that we needed to part ways with Distinctive Surfaces. By our due diligence our contact was cancelled, the one countertop was removed and our payment was refunded. I warn others that you may have a good experience but if you don’t, it can go really bad. I did some research after the lack of customer service and found out this is not Christian’s first business (Cosa Bella). Even though Distinctive Surfaces has a nice, convenient showroom it is not worth the time, money or hassle if the project goes bad. Do note, at least one of the positive reviews on facebook is an employee of the business; wonder how many other reviews are from employees/friends of the owner?

This review is a two-fer. We first worked with Laura Kay on redoing the kitchen counters and sink at our lake house. From setting up an appointment, visiting a great show room and getting personalized attention, and the workers collaboration with us to get everything in stalled, we were treated like a number one priority.After getting the quartz installed at the lake house (and our neighbor insisting on looking at the kitchen and getting kitchen envy) we decided to update the powder room in our home in Cayce. We worked with Laura Kay again and we repeated the process. Everything went just a smoothly for this small project as it went for the big project. Weve been really satisfied with the professionalism and courtesy weve experienced with all of the Distinctive Surfaces employees. Now theyre measuring our kitchen at our home in Cayce. We look forward to doing business in the future and only recommend this company to friends looking to redo their surfaces.

RESPONDING TO ORIGINAL POST AND THE RESPONSE: NO, the original quote was for the measurements I provided, not from the builder. ALL MEASUREMENTS FOR ALL PIECES WERE PROVIDED FROM THE START and were quite accurate. This is why I was so shocked when the company came back to me with additional charges --many, many hundreds higher!!!I did have to change the granite for ONE bath item only however, this would not have modified the pricing so significantly. A price change due to this instance is understandable and would be justified.But this is not what caused the huge discrepancy and your response to throw the blame on me is outright wrong. The incompetence and errors are TOTALLY on the companys end.I tried to reach out to resolve this, IMMEDIATELY writing a personal letter (snail mail) to the owner and received no personal response at all. The owner couldnt be bothered to speak to me and address my concerns. In the response the company says to call. If they were truly concerned, they would be calling me - they have my contact info!I stand by my warning to others.... I share my experience as it demonstrates that customer service was not a priority nor was I treated in a fair and ethical manner. I recommend future potential clients double check measurements and the square footage the company calculates initially -- buyer beware!I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!! I dont usually write reviews, especially negative ones, yet I am so angry and believe that I was ripped off by this companys less than ethical practices that I want to warn others!!This was the fifth time I worked with a granite fabricator for an install so it wasnt my first experience. I gave them very accurate measurements for my 3 bathrooms and kitchen. I received a bid from them as well as other companies. They came back with a competitive price yet did not offer complimentary choices of edges unless I paid more . As they were recommended by my builder, I decided to work with D.S. and settle for a plain edge.Like most fabricators, they state that their quote is subject to the final measurements however, as the measurements I submitted were generous, I felt confident that pricing should not change. How shocked I was that after measurements, they told me I had to pay MORE than $700 over the initial bid! How could this be as my measurements were comparable to theirs!!???! They said they needed more square feet of granite to do the job than initially quoted. When I did my own calculations as to the square footage needed for the job I found that there was NO WAY THE SQUARE FOOTAGE OF GRANITE THEY ORIGINALLY BID WOULD BE SUFFICIENT FOR THE JOB!!! I personally reached out to the company president to point out that this was their error and felt that they should honor the quote. They refused. They did give me a small discount of $100 but I was still out by MANY HUNDREDS and received no apology, no upgraded edge (an easy offering) or recognition of their responsibility for this miscalculation! I would have walked away but I was under a construction deadline so I was forced to proceed. BE FOREWARNED THAT EVEN IF YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK, YOU NEED TO BE AWARE THAT YOU NEED TO DOUBLE CHECK ALL THEIR FIGURES OR YOU TOO MAY BE PAYING MUCH MORE THAN YOU ANTICIPATED!! Ultimately we had to pay much more for this job due to their inability to calculate elementary width times length measurements.

Do not use this company! They do not stand by their work or take responsibility for their own mistakes. We built a new home and were recommended by our builder to use this company. We picked our solid surfaces out and paid them in full. Everything was down hill from there. First, they put the wrong granite in the wrong bathrooms. The placement of the granite was in writing. They offered no apology or resolution. Second, the installation of the granite was horrible. The seams in both the flat surfaces and back splashes were not even and the bonding agent was applied very sloppy. After we addressed this with our builder they did come back out and work on it. The seams were improved but not comparable to any other house that we have owned(they did not do the granite in our other homes). We sent the owner/manager of the company an email to address our problems. We did not ask for anything free just to get what we paid for and to have a quality job. The owner never responded!!! Lastly, after the installation we noticed that the ends(approximately 8 inches)of all of our back splashes in our kitchen are discolored. This is where they apparently wiped something on the ends while they were installing. It Looks like possibly silicone or sealer. We addressed this with our builder at closing and also put it on our 30 day list. Distinctive surfaces called my husband yesterday and told him that this discoloration was due to something that we must have put on the surface and that they were not responsible. After a brief discussion they agreed to contact me and make an arrangement to come look at the issue in our kitchen. After they did not call today or show up to look at the issue I contacted them. They stated that there was miscommunication and that they would not be coming out to even look at the issue. Before you use this company please understand that we have not asked this company to do anything for free. We just want what we paid for. We are responsible adults. If we had stained or damaged the backsplashes in our kitchen we would admit to it and take responsibility. We are not internet bullies that write bad things about companies to get free services or discounts. In retrospect we should have done more research. Dont make the same mistake we made. Things dont always go right in business. The true mark of a business is how they respond when things go wrong. This owner hides behind their employees who dont speak very highly of him.
