Super close to my workplace back when we worked in office. It was always a great place to unwind for me either during my lunch break or after work. The staff is always friendly and helpful and I love that (almost) all of the cats are available for adoption. Not only is it a great foster system for shelter cats, it also allows the cats to be socialized and be comfortable enough to show off their personalities to potential future owners. It’s a very great community! One thing I do wish was better is the “cafe” portion of it. I think having more baked goods would be a great bonus!

I’d been wanting to go see this place for a long time. I finally went in to destress. It’s not a good energy. Check in was awkward. I was the only patron there. The owner/employee in the room was also awkward, seems to have her office set up there, and proceeded to make an irritated complaint call to a call center within a few minutes of me entering the room, as if I wasn’t there. I have that kind of stress in my regular life. Very disappointing. They don’t seem to be super excited about regular people walking in. Perhaps it’s better with a party/group/event. Not sure what their mission/purpose is … I would rather be relaxing with some kitties right now than writing this review.

Papa’s Cat Cafe is my favorite place to spend my free time and is the best local business in Columbia to support! Their iced coffees are amazing, the gift section is a cat lover’s dream, and the cats greet you with snuggles! Papa’s Cat Cafe also does a great job accommodating people with sensory friendly hours. If you’re visiting CoMo, this should be your first stop!

Great cat cafe. The cat room is large with plenty of cats. One cat even got onto our laps without us trying to do a single thing. Very loving. Some cats were playful as well when we went.Cons:* The drink selection is sparse and not the best (They do have alcohol though, if youre into that)* I could defiantly smell the litter box room

This visit was my second, first being some months prior to the pandemic. The interior hadnt changed, with friendly and courteous staff tending a myriad of beverages and local made treats like muffins, cookies and donuts.Parking out front isnt crowded, with handicapped spots near the door. The cafe is clean and well organized, with a unisex restroom that was also tidy. One thing that had changed was a reservation and fee system for entry into the main section with a couple dozen adoptable cats. You are charged for either a 30 or 60 minute block of time. There is also a full time cat wrangler present to help avoid incidents and answer questions. The rate wasnt very high for 30 minutes plus tea and a muffin. Overall its a superb stop to take a guest for a quick bite and beverage, and then enjoy the company of a diverse group of felines with a staff member present to answer any questions on breeds, names, demeanor and general cat facts.

Great idea and we enjoyed ourselves, but the concept needs a little work. The cats are awesome and adorable and sweet and silly and fun, but the menu is totally ho-hum boring. I get that the cats are the main draw but unless the cafe part can provide some decent menu options, why not just go to the shelter to see kitties for free? I opted for a hot chocolate for my drink and probably would have gotten a pastry or sandwich but there were only a few muffins left (at 11am) that were not enticing at all. I would have purchased a second drink but no one bothered to come around to our table and ask, and we were there for two hours. We were a group of seven... Imagine what we would have spent on a great cafe menu, plus tips for the staff. I really think they are missing out on some serious revenue by not doing a better job on the cafe. Also, why did we pay more for reservations when walk-ins are less expensive? There werent more than 4 other people there besides us, so it seemed wrong that we paid more for reservations. More comfy furniture and more tables would be nice. As mentioned, the cats were awesome and the reason we were there and we had a great time, but dont expect much else beyond that unless they improve the cafe part of the business.

Papas Cat Café is one of the most unique small businesses in Columbia. Most of these reviews are going to talk about how much fun they had hanging out in the cat room. Those reviewers are not wrong. Playing with the cats is so much fun. In our day to day lives my wife and I are currently taking care of sick family members, which is stressful to say the least. The best part of my visit to Papas was getting to see my wife smile for an hour and forget her troubles. That alone was worth every penny. Happiness, it turns out, is found in a room full of cats. There is no doubt that the cats are the number one reason to go to Papas; but Id recommend staying for the food and coffee. The pastries offered by Papas are baked fresh daily by the owners. If I didnt know better, I never would have guessed that many of the bakery offerings are vegan. They taste just as delicious as a non-vegan pastry. All of Papas coffee beverages are made with Fretboard coffee beans that are roasted right here in Columbia. So by visiting Papas youll be supporting not one, but two local businesses at the same time. The baristas at Papas have received training from the coffee makers at Fretboard in the art of making espressos. Thats the kind of attention to detail and unique service you will be hard pressed to find anywhere else in town. If you are a cat person, Papas is the place for you. Not a cat person but like a good cup of coffee? Then check out Papas. Either way youll be supporting local businesses; and youre patronage will help cats be adopted into forever homes. If that is not a win-win scenario, I dont know what is. I cant recommend Papas Cat Café highly enough.

I have been to Papas so many times with friends and my boyfriend. Needless to say, anyone that I have brought with me has absolutely LOVED Papas, including myself. We have never once had any problems. They have online reservations, which are great as I am quite introverted. You check in with the cashier, tip them, get your free drink (if you do an online reservation), then head into heaven in the form of a room full of (mostly) ADOPTABLE CATS. It really doesnt get much better than sipping coffee and being surrounded by cats.

I absolutely LOVE this place! Both the cafe and cat aspects are phenomenal -- the drinks are all great and decently priced, and the cats are amazing. All of the cats are super friendly and the cafe is truly one of the purest, most relaxing places Ive ever been inside. My friends and I love visiting this place to just hang out with the cats and learn about their stories (which are posted on a bulletin board in the back). Theyre all adorable and the staff is incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The space is well designed, with a cafe side that has all of the food and drink, as well as a relatively small seating area, and a larger room where all of the cats stay. And the cats have plenty of places to hide if they get tired of humans and just want to take a break. To make it even better, Papas is also super cheap in comparison to other cat cafes -- its only $10 for an entire hour and it comes with a free drink. You do have to make a reservation and fill out a waiver form, but its super quick and easy to do online. And, as Ive recently learned, they also have special events, like wine nights, book club, and game nights, which I will definitely be checking out the next time Im in Columbia!

I have been in different cat cafès around the world and this is the first one in which you have to pay to see the cats, and a ridiculous amount of 10 dollars. It does not make any sense! Having cats around to spend time with should be part of the experince without paying! Thats how it works in every cat cafe! I completely advise against going!Answering your comment: wow, you really know how to take criticism or bad reviews, dont you? I said and I repeat that I find your fees to high for what the experience is worth and I will not change my mind. Im glad and thankful for your contribution to your community, but how you are reacting to a criticism by a client its really not okay.

By far, this is my new favorite place in Columbia. Ive been to numerous cat cafes in Korea and the U.S. , and this place is by far my favorite one. What a great place; the owners are kind, the cats are adorable with completely different personalities, and the coffee and snacks were the perfect treat. I played with a spunky blind cat, had a lap cat adopt me for a short while, and by the end of the hour, I felt relaxed and simply happy. As I said to my friend, This place it better than therapy. Really nice setup, both for the cats and for the customers. Cats have a big play area with lots of options for playing, sleeping, scratching, etc. Comfortable tables and benches to relax at if youre letting the cats come to you. The cafe section has bar seating with a large window, so its possible to just stop by for a cup of coffee and soothe yourself by watching some cats. But why do that when the price to visit the cats is so reasonable? Some cat cafes are only occasional destinations due to their high prices, but for $10 WITH an espresso drink included, I plan to stop by weekly.

Someone told me about this place when I was at a conference. We actually waited 3 hours (we were going to leave town earlier) for Papas to open at 10. You walk into the coffee and treats area. It is spotless and the kitchen is visible. There is a large window where you can see the cats in the next room. The coffee was just fine, and I enjoyed the cheddar biscuit. But not nearly as much as I enjoyed those cats! My nephew and I had a wonderful half an hour petting cats, lowering my blood pressure, laughing and learning more about the place. Theyve been open 2 months and have already adopted out 17 cats! The cat room is very clean, the cats have toys and humans to entertain them! Please do visit, and think about doing this in your town.

Interesting concept for cat lovers who cannot be cat owners for some reason. This was our first time here. We reserved online for an hour and shared the cat room for the first half of the time with a childrens birthday party. So, a room of over-sugared, rowdy kids and traumatized cats (to be clear, the cats were never abused at any time, I would not tolerate that and the staff was very attentive to cat welfare, but traumatized by high levels of noise and activity). After the birthday party departed, when all calmed down, it was quite relaxing to watch the cats and stroke the ones who came up to us. The coffees we had were good and the pastries looked tasty. Only suggestion, instead of reserving online and taking your chances, call and see what group will be sharing cats with you. Also, kudos to this place for finding loving homes for unhomed kitties.
