Great experience at the Cycle Center a month ago after checking for a XXL in Charlotte and Johnson City for a bike in my price range. Checked the website, called, s/w Rebecca, confirmed 1 in stock, she held it 2hr drive later I was in Columbia, bike was exactly what I was looking for. Staff very friendly, couple immediate accessories added, and insight from Rebecca since I hadnt ridden in 10 years. She had time to walk me out, helped load it into my SUV, an elbow bump due to Covid precautions and I was out. Great ride to date with many compliments. Shout out to Cycle Center

Would recommend Cycle Center to anyone looking to purchase a bicycle. The staff was very helpful and attentive. They currently have a waiting list due to circumstances out of their currently but don’t let that stop you. I recently signed up for my first ride and have never ridden on a road bike before in my life. I went to the Cycle Center looking for guidance and appreciated that they measured me to see what size bike I needed, but didn’t put a hard sell on any bike. They showed me some appropriate “entry level” bikes that could work for me and my budget without pressuring me to buy anything. I didn’t buy anything that first day. I ended up taking a used bike to them to check out for me to use instead. While although that bike was awesome, it was a bit too small. I ended up buying to original bike I looked at and am so happy. It’s awesome! They made sure if was perfectly fit to me and showed me everything about the bike. They didn’t try to up sell me on riding shorts, shoes, additional pedals or any other gear. Of course I did buy a helmet though! I am so happy with my purchase and will be back soon to get all the extra gear I need!

I’ve never been a big review person. However, once in a while you come across a business that’s worth the effort, and this is one of those times. I’ve been a customer of Cycle Center since my early college days in 1990. You will not find a team of more knowledgeable people than these folks. John and his team are experienced in this business and they are the only ones I trust. What sets these folks apart from other biking stores is that they will take the time to ask you good questions about what you’re looking to, how often you’re looking to ride, etc. so that they can get you the best bike possible to fit what you’re looking for. There is a difference between what a customer “wants” in a bike verses what they “need” in a bike. That’s where their knowledge and experience comes into play and sets them apart. They’re not there just to sell you a bike...they’re there to sell you the RIGHT bike. Just like a clothing tailor, they too will find the right bike to customize and tailor to you so you will get the maximum enjoyment out of your bike and biking experience, for years to come. Lastly, their customer service is second to none. These folks take great pride in what they do, and it shows with the way they treat their customers...that’s why I am a lifer with the Cycle Center team. Columbia is very fortunate to have them in our community. There’s a reason why they’ve been in business for over 30 years. Bottom line, whether you’re a beginner or experienced biker, and want the best bikes and prices in town, look no further than cycle center.

I popped a spoke at the end of a 70-mile ride. This week, I challenged my friends to see how far they could ride in one weeks time and I was going pretty strong! At 270 miles in 4 days, the last 3 days would see, roughly, another 400 miles. This meant a lot to me. Then I popped a spoke. The nearest Scott dealer is in Evans, GA and I thought my week-attempt was over. I called Cycle Center and told them what happened and what I was doing. They told me to bring it in! Within 30 minutes, my spoke was fixed. The shop was neat/tidy, the mechanics were very knowledgable and personable, and, with my permission, they ordered a few parts that needed replacing for when I bring my bike in again for a tune-up. 10/10. Would definitely recommend. Dont let the location fool you, the folks at Cycle Center are worth it.

This is the best bike shop in Columbia. They are super friendly and not intimidating at all. They don’t try and up sell you and answer all your questions honestly. Getting back into riding after almost 20 yrs. Went to CC in 2018 for a mtn bike. All the guys were very helpful and found a bike I really enjoyed. Went back this month and bought a road bike. Great experiences both times. Would recommend highly.

Dalton, tall dude who works there, is pretty cool. I am definitely not him. They have several bikes on sale if you forgot to buy a Christmas gift. Purchase a bike and get 15% off parts and accessories with your purchase. Purchase two bikes, get a 10% discount on one of the bikes. A year of free tune-ups from professional mechanics come with the bikes too. These perks are so good I remembered all of them which is surprising because I definitely dont work there.

Extremely helpful and genuine group of people. I came in with an issue on my bike and they called the manufacturer for me and got it replaced under warranty for free. Their prices are super reasonable and they go well above and beyond what’s expected!

Harry is a fantastic. He had an answer for every question we had about bikes. He was extremely patient with the fit of TWO bikes to test ride (and I’m sure he would’ve done dozens more happily). The cycle center itself is well stocked. All of the employees are helpful and knowledgeable. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in this area for bikes.

This place is great! They had the part we needed for my husband’s bike (free wheel remover tool) and the staff was incredibly nice. They even took off the wheel for us free of charge to save us some time. We will be back if we need anything else.

I had shoulder surgery and screwed up my other shoulder during recovery. I was told in no uncertain terms that I would continue to injure myself unless I switched to something low impact. I thought riding would bore me, but I was desperate and its been one of the best decisions Ive made. I hadnt been on a bike since I was a kid and had no clue where to start, but Rebecca shared her expertise without hesitation. She spent a lot of time with me without pressure or expectation, showed me how to hold myself to avoid stress on my neck and shoulders, and gave me tips on what to look for in a bike regardless of where I bought it. Im insanely cheap but had zero doubts about buying from Cycle Center. This place is full of passionate people and it shows.

I found the right bicycle that I was looking for, and then some extra stuff that I hadnt come for. For the most part, the employees at Cycle Center were prompt, professional, knowledgable, courteous, and tactful. Cycle Center has an inviting and comfortable atmosphere that left me wanting to come back time and time again.One of the best things about buying a bicycle at Cycle Center is the low cost of repairs. I tore my bicycle up so many times, and Cycle Center fixed it for a low price every time. The bicycle mechanics also do a thorough job on all repairs, and ensure that it is fixed right. The bicycle mechanics also explain all bicycle problems you have with your bicycle, in the event that you dont know, or are unfamiliar with bicycles and their parts.As far as pricing goes for bicycles its really a hit or miss on affordability. Cycle Center is really good about giving you parts, gear, and ordered items (not including bicycles) for cost plus shipping. The only employee complaints I have of Cycle Center in Columbia South Carolina are the following: Cycle Center can be rude, and disrespectful when it comes to emailing, so be advised. The other employee complaint I have is this: Each time after my bicycle had been repaired no employees at Cycle Center contacted me to let me know it was fixed, as I was promised. Every time my bicycle was broken the employees said they would contact me when my bicycle was repaired. However, my bicycle had been repaired for over two days, and no one called to let me know it was fixed. On several occasions this happened, and I was disappointed every time.Finally, Cycle Center of Columbia South Carolina is easy to find, and also has accessible parking.

Cycle Center is an excellent resource for Columbia. Rebeccas experience in the cycling industry helped me make my choice on which bikes were right for my twins. There was a wide selection of colors online which she helped me navigate and in just 1 week the bikes had been delivered and built at the store for us to pickup. The girls have been on them everyday since. Great customer service.

Bikes can be special ordered and otherwise customized and maintained here. Definitely a higher end bike shop and covers any pedal powered vehicle from one wheel and up lol. My tough mountain bike had a bent back wheel & a broken spoke....when I retrieved this wonderful bike, the gears between the pedal ground loudly which was not happening when I took that bike the Cycle Center!!! I honestly believe they damaged the bike to run up the bill!!! In health care we talk to 1000 people a day & Ill pass this on & worst of all I leave VENGEANCE to The Lord!!!! Craig..What. I noticed later was that the chain guard, which is black and the chain is black, was smashed!!! Either this good old bike was placed in a vice or hit with something...Gonna call The 5 Points Association... This is just Bad business....CRAIG

As a 20 year customer obviously they must be doing something right. I believe Ive purchased 6 bikes from them over the years and an uncountable amount of accessories . Most of my Bikes were custom builds So lots of special orders were always made with no problems. And I cant say enough about the Service department, A big shout out to Tim and Brian for taking care of me all these years . With 0 failures in all my races and triathlons.

Great place - a real asset to the community! Im not the typical customer for a bike store and was a little intimidated by the thought of going. As soon as I entered I felt at ease. The staff listened to me and really helped. They were very knowledgeable and didnt make me feel stupid or less important than someone needing a custom bike for a marathon or something. This place should be the first place to go whether youre looking for an advanced or special bike, need something fixed, or just bike curious. The store looks great and well organized, but its the people that really make this place stand out. Thank you for being a very valuable part of the community and for being so good at what you do. Its great to see people who take pride in helping others and doing their best. I wasnt in your shop that long, but the quality was just that obvious.So I went back. I work with older people. One of them had a rollator (walker with wheels) that had a broken brake. Getting it fixed usually cost between $40 and $60. I took it to a medical equipment shop for repair. After saying they would try but werent sure they could fix due to age and type, I left it. They called and told me it was unfixable. So, not giving up, I took it to Cycle Center. It was late in the day so I left it with them. It was fixed and ready early the next morning. They had given me an estimate of $30. The amount of the actual repair was less than $28! These are extraordinary people who do great work and really care. I cant say thank you enough.

Bought a Women mountain trek bike from you guys back in about 2014. Great experience and road the heck out of it.. until a few month later I found out I was pregnant with twins and now just had my 3rd son. Was wandering if you guys. Bought back any of your own bikes. I bike for the majority of my around town transportation and I was looking for a more capable hauler. I bought a Surly Big Dummy cargo bike here after much deliberation between buying a used cargo bike off eBay, a new Yuba Mundo Lux (online only), or new Xtracycle Edgerunner (online only).The Surly Big Dummy was the only cargo bike I could find that any bike shop in Columbia could sell. Cycle center was the only shop that offered a refund in the event that I didnt like the bike (unfortunately, cargo bikes are virtually nonexistent in Columbia so they had to order the bike). Before I bought the bike they helped me pick the right size frame which turned out to be a perfect fit. They helped me install the bags that come with the bike, which took some time to learn how to use with all their different straps used to make the bags expand.The Big Dummy is very stable and smooth over typical bumps of paved roads even at high downhill speeds. The 60mm tires are good on dirt/ sand roads but still sink down in deep sand. Its an all around good bike for carrying groceries and even human passengers, although its a bit wobbly at lower speeds. The bike probably weighs around 60 pounds so it can be hard to pedal up big hills. Im planning on doing an ebike conversion within the next 2 months. You get a 15% discount on accessories with purchase of bike and one year of free tune ups.

Great Bicycles. They have a nice 2nd hand selection..well usually, but you cant blame them for great bikes for significantly lowered prices. Good accessories selection too.Cheapest, but yet still high quality road bikes go for as low as $650, a great replacement for a car!

Cycle Center is my favorite bike shop in Columbia. I tell this to everyone I know, but Ive never bothered posting it on the web. After another great shopping experience today, I realized I should spread the word. If you are looking for a shop with lots of great gear (mtn bike / road / tri / kids), quality mechanics, friendly people and most important of all---a huge knowledge base, Cycle Center is the place to go in Columbia.After closing their Two-Notch location (due to a fire next door), they focused all of their attention on the Harden St. store. It appears that the fire was a blessing in disguise, because the new Cycle Center is vastly improved. It has more selection to choose from, yet it is easier to find what you need with the improved store lay-out. There are friendlier faces and even better deals. If you have not visited Cycle Center recently---go and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I recently purchased a Cannondale Caad 12 road bike from here and it was a huge learning process that was simplified by THE MAN Derek. I came in on 3 separate occasions to ask my laundry-list of questions on components, sizing, frame technology etc. Derek answered them all.There were other associates in the shop who were so excited for me and my venture into cycling; they were recommending accessories to go along with my purchase. This is easily the best bike shop in Columbia. I live within walking distance of their biggest competitor (where you can walk around for 20 minutes and not be greeted or asked if they can help you) but I go out of my way to go to Cycle Center. Ive purchased two bikes from them over the past 20 years and the service and knowledge are second to none. You can avoid the pretentious bike shop vibe of the other shops that are staffed by kids trying to hard sell you. These are mature professionals who are pillars of the cycling community and play a central role in growing and maintaining our local trail systems. You leave with only what you need, at a fair price and knowledge, instead of feeling like you just walked off a used car lot. In this age of trying to save a few bucks by ordering online, Im always surprised by their competitive pricing and wide offerings so support deserving local shops like this rare gem, so theyre around for another 25 years!
