In todays age, customer service and trust are hard to come by in the retail or business world. Wednesday, I found a place that still deals in friendliness, honesty, integrity and with a bit of humor. I am not a big coin collector or precious metals collector, however, upon walking in, the person that helped me out (I wish I knew his name) was friendly, up front and walked me through the process of what he was doing in valuing my coins and metals. I went in thinking I would be dealing with mostly coin value and he treated the transaction as a metal value. Needless to say, I was surprised that something I did not think was worth much was actually worth more. That kind of honesty and integrity you dont find very much anymore. If anyone were to ask what they should do with coins or precious metals, go to Hallenbeck. Really, go to Hallenbeck. There is a reason they have been in business so long.

I just got home to Pueblo and wanted to write a review. Today was my first time coming here and I came because I had a few old coins. I also had a few of my silver rounds with me. I am very happy and am still smiling. I was able to trade a few things in and walk away with cash. I brought in silver rounds, a vintage charm, and an old gold Liberty. I left with money, a five gram gold bar, and a 10 ounce silver bar. The lady who helped me was friendly, professional, and to the point. I did read the reviews before deciding to go. The door was locked and there was a short wait but to be honest this made me feel more secure. The owner was very visible and walked around frequently which also made me feel secure. If you are looking to buy, sell, or trade then I will highly recommend this place. I also liked that I got a printed receipt and that all of my information is in their computer system which feels much better than my local coin shop that sends me text receipts or non itemized receipts. I like knowing that I can easily prove a purchase if needed. They are fully stocked and I finally got to see what a kilo looks like in person. They have a lot of collectibles. I am still smiling and can honestly say that I will never, ever go to a pawn shop again. I will keep coming back here. I was looking for a little extra cash because it has been a tough year paying for my 10 year old yellow labs chemotherapy. Thank you for the great experience.

This place is a joke. Its unfortunate that its the only coin shop in town. Over priced. Ive taken in a coin that I knew to be gold and at 1st was told it was dental scrap... only to have another staff check it out and validate the coin being gold. Not to mention the wait outside to be brought in. You fail hallenbeck coins!

I finally decided to part with unused gold chains, antique jewelry that no one wanted-much that I couldn’t even say who it came from. The young man who helped us was very personable and answered questions for us. Professional and knowledgeable.

They were so great and helpful. The lady that worked with us sat down and even gave us a little history on the things that we were wanting to sell. She was also kind enough to tell us places we could take the things that she was not interested in, but may possibly sell to another business. She was very kind friendly and supportive.I had fun and enjoyed my experience there and used her references.I am disabled and in a power wheelchair so my review as to the accessibility of the store is okay.I came at the end of the day and exhausted to begin with so I wasnt able to do a complete review of the store.They did have street parking with a handicap spot. I was able to get in and out of the shop with my power wheelchair just fine. I was able to move around enough to get a place to sit at their store square center where they service there customers. It was very nice because the counters were all made for sitting where I was planted with an extended counter area so my chair fit nicely there.There was also plenty of room in that cubicle area for my sister.A positive experience for me although limited due to my exhaustion in the first place.

Lowballed on my silver coins. I checked online before going there. I also checked value on the other coins I brought in and again given dirt cheap offers. If not in a desperate situation, I would not have sold them. Just feel cheated. Not much I can do now, but will not deal with them again.

I should have known it was a great place by how busy it was when I was in there. Ive never seen so much traffic in a coin shop before. Staff was knowledgeable, extremely friendly and helpful. I was at first disappointed by the selection in the display cases, but as soon as I asked about other coins they went in back and brought out exactly what I was looking for. A lot of the people in there were selling coins, so I feel confident that they will have a fresh supply each time I go back. I will be going back. Thank you!

My parents lived in Colorado Springs. My Mom died last year and my dad had to go into an assisted living facility. My dad had ordered many, many coins over the years, much to my Moms dismay. (These coins were not ordered from Hallenbeck - just from various advertisements and other sources over the years.)So when it came time to clear out the house, I was faced with boxes and boxes of coins. I had no idea if they were valuable or not. I left them at Hallenbeck Coin Gallery. The staff members at Hallenbeck showed a extraordinary level of professionalism and care during this difficult time.They went through each coin and prepared a written inventory, including value of the coin, which they presented to me. They wrote a check for the ones they purchased. There were some coins which were face value and needed to be picked up. I dont live in Colorado Springs and had to choose to see my Dad one last time before I left Town or pick up the coins. At the end of the day, Hallenbeck was kind enough to process the face value coins and simply send a check so I could visit Dad.I wished I could remember the names of the staff members - I think it was Joe and Susan but may be wrong. In any event, I highly recommend this gallery.

I have been buying and selling from Hallenbeck for close to 30 years now. They are as honest and trustworthy as any dealer I have met in the entire country! Their numismatic knowledge is by far superior to any other dealer in the entire state. Whether you are selling, buying, trading, or appraising coins, bullion, jewelry, silverware, etc., this is the place to go! And whatever you do, please, please, please, NEVER clean your coins!! This place is great! Very honest and great prices. The staff are very knowledgeable and I enjoy shopping here for bullion and some coins. Everyone here seems to enjoy what they are doing and it makes for a good atmosphere. After checking most of the other places in town, this is the only place worth going to in my opinion.

You may have to wait in line for a moment cause theyre giving their full attention to each and every customer but once you are assisted Hallenbeck will answer any questions you have about what your interest is. I have done business with Hallenbeck coin for years .. They are one of the relatively few really trustworthy dealers in Colorado. If they err it is usually on the conservative side and they are consistent. I believe the people who work there have integrity and will deal honestly with their customers. It is definitely good to have a reliable dealer like this in Colorado Springs.

Ive went in this shop a few times and had bought some coins. Ive had nothing but good customer service and helpful advice while buying silver. My first visit I went in there with spare change and no clue what I was buying. I walked out with silver and some knowledge about silver. I will be buying more silver from this shop for sure.

These people are phenomenally amazing! Just wow! I unknowingly purchased a fake gold bar and was starting to question my purchase so I did more research and then called the wonderful people at Hallenbeck to see if they could and would confirm the authenticity of the bar or tell me if it was a fake. I pulled in close to closing time and was greeted as I walked in the door. I explained my situation and they took care of me within 3 minutes confirming the bar was a fake! They expressed their sorrow for my situation and said they would be glad to help in the future with any questions. I understand some people have issues and there’s just no pleasing them but at this point, I just can’t see what all the negative reviews are about all though there’s always two sides.Look, bottom line, this is a great place with great people! They will have my future business!

I have gone to Hallenbeck Coin Gallery several times over the years. They came highly recommended and I have been very happy with their services. Whenever I want to sell coins or precious metals I call around to other (and much closer, I might add) reputable dealers but Hallenbeck always pays top price (usually $10 over spot price). They are well worth the hours drive. I am frankly shocked by the one-star reviews, and namely the one reviewer who complained about an irate manager. I have personally worked with Tom Hallenbeck who is a kind and affable man who has shown himself to be professional in every way. Ive also worked with Chad and he is very knowledgeable and attentive. The gallery is always hopping, which tells me they must be good or so many people wouldnt be doing business there. I am very consciencious and careful with my reviews because I depend heavily on other peoples reviews before making my own important financial decisions. I firmly believe that Hallenbeck is one of the best coin buyers/sellers in Colorado.

Myself and my mother brought a large collection of coins to the gallery to sell. we had the pleasure of dealing with tom. tom was very straight forward with his pricing, pointing out items of greater value mixed in the collection. tom spent over 3 hours with us and didnt rush us or seem impatient one bit. tom made sure to take his time and go over every detail and made sure we were comfortable with every aspect of the transaction. i would suggest to anyone that you go here for any of your coin related needs.

POOR customer service, NASTY, I purchased a 10.00 ring for dying child in the hosp. The label got damaged, the ring got returned and they got NASTY when I kept telling them the ring was lost in the mail.

Stumbled across this store while browsing online. I ended up purchasing a really nice 1928 Peace Dollar. They were very easy to work with and shipped my item registered mail in a very timely manner. The Prices are lower than most any other coin shop I have shopped at both online and in person. Especially since most of their coins have been endorsed by CAC. Used to come here all the time, I liked a few of the employees, especially one older gentleman (his name escapes me) with whom I would converse with regularly. However, at this specific time I had a 18kt solid yellow gold ring with a large light green cabachon stone set in it. It was a family heirloom from Ireland my mother had given to me. This ring happen to be the last piece of property she had from my grandmother who passed away durring childbirth with my mother. In other words, it meant a great deal. I had come on hard times & decided I would take it to hallenbecks & temporarily sell it to them to help with bills. When I sold the piece I had made it very clear to the person whom bought it from me, that I intended on purchasing the piece back the following week. I stressed the repurchase was of the utmost importance as the ring is the last family heirloom left from my mothers line. I was reassured that it would not be an issue. For the ring I received $100.00, which would of been an insult, save for the fact that I assumed that would be the cost to retrieve the item & that was within my means. Come the next week, I enter the shop & as usual I begin my visit by looking at the jewelry displays. To my utter unsuspected surprise & disappointment, there was my mothers ring behind the glass, with a $700.00 price tag attached to it. If I had been who I am now then, I would of handled the situation with much more poise & grace however this was not my finest self so needless to say I completely lost it & had to exit the store lest i have the authorities called because of my reaction. Long story short, I was completely mislead & taken advantage of when I was surely vulnerable & I feel as though Ive been done a major disservice. To this day I am heartbroken as there was no way I could come up with the $700.00 asking price, & I still couldnt come up with it now. If there was a way to track the piece down I would do it, but I do not come from a wealthy family, & I am not independently wealthy either. Lesson learned though, as I will never recomend this store or have anything positive to say since that last visit.

I had questions about the value of some coins my grandfather left me and was educated about coin grading, spot prices, how much over spot they would pay me for my coins. At no time was I pressured into selling. A first class group!

Best place in town to buy or sell, period. Ive been to many, many other shops in Denver and not one of them even comes close to Hallenbeck. If your planning on selling your pms, do it here, they pay over spot which most places do not. As far as selling coins, they may not give you what you are asking or believe your coin to be worth, but this is true of most shops as they still have to turn around and sell it too. Still the best place to sell bullion though, for the reason as outlined above.

Ive had a few other experiences with coin and bullion dealers in town and many were condescending and jumped on opportunities to try and to manipulate the situation in aspects I wasnt knowledgeable in. All three times Ive been to Hallenbeck theyve been very friendly and more than willing to answer any and all questions I have; even at one point telling me not to sell some things to them because I could get more than they could give me If I shopped around with private collectors. My boyfriend had an old gold bracelet he wanted to sell and got a quote first from one of those We BUY your GOLD!!!! type places who quoted him about half of what it was worth and haggled in a very sketchy way. So I look up Google reviews and see pretty good ones for this place.. at first I was irritated because there was a long wait. However, I realized the reason for the long line when our turn arrived and we were given an offer of 80% of the gold value, which in my opinion is a darn good deal, and it was $100 higher than the quote from the less reputable business. The inside of the shop is also very nice as well, with unique coins displayed and a comfortable yet professional atmosphere among the staff. I highly recommend selling any gold jewelry to this shop.

I have used Hallenbeck for years. The service is good and the prices are fair. Yes sometimes there are allot of customers in there. But when it is your turn, you get their full attention. I would not go anywhere else for coins or precious metals.

Based on a co-workers recommendation, I stopped in Hallenbeck to check out the shop. Since then, they are the only coin shop I will use. Im sure that to them, Im a small potatos customer, but I have never been treated like that. All of their staff has treated me like a valued customer. They always take as much time with me as needed and are always willing to answer any questions to help educate me. I had made a few purchases online before going to the shop and now I only buy at the shop because the pricing is as good as the mail order guys and I get such great service from their employees. Yes, on Saturday the shop is busy and you may have to wait a bit, but it is worth the wait knowing that they have such great customer reps and they dont rush me through. This is the kind of Bricks and Morter, Mom and Pop shop that I love doing business with.

I know every business is in business to make money but there are folks out there who run coin shops that really care about people who love the hobby and make collecting a little easier on the pocket book for them. Having said that, it is an awesome place to sell, trade, visit in general and buy if you have the cash to spend.

I dropped by to offer a nice (slabbed) coin for sale. Some condescending guy (not Chad or Tom, theyre usually nice to work with) told me that because it wasnt in a PCGS holder, that it wasnt worth much. He offered me less than half of bid. I walked right out, drove to another coin shop, and was offered 5% over bid, without the condescending attitude. I used to enjoy going to Hallenbecks, but their down-the-nose attitude really turned me off.

Trust their appraisals. I had several pieces of gold jewelry I wanted to sell and started my day at Luisa Graffs. Their offer seemed impressive until I checked out two other places in Colorado Springs the same day- Gold and Silver Buyers and Hallenbeck Coin Gallery. Hallenbeck offered more than twice what Luisas staff quoted and $500 more than Gold and Silver Buyers. Just a thick gold bracelet alone was worth more than $400 what LG offered for the entire collection. Im SO glad that I did my homework and checked out more than one place! Luisa Graffs offer was thievery for the uneducated. Hallenbecks was by far the most honest and informative about the entire process= trustworthy. No pressure to sell and I came back when gold prices increased and did even better.

The management at Hallenbecks are rude and condescending. I went into their shop to inquire about selling gold coins but apparently that was a huge bother for them. When I first entered their establishment there were 3 or 4 people working but none of them acknowledged me for over 10 minutes. One of the managers was far to busy berating one of his employees publicly in front of other customers and staff. When the manager finished his loud, public, and derogatory rant towards one of his employees, the employee was able to come over and assist me. He was actually rather helpful but after only a few minutes the manager returned to say that all the information he gave me was wrong. He berated the employee some more in front of me until the employee pulled up some chart to show that the numbers he gave me were right. That infuriated the already belligerent manager who then told him he was awful at his job and he better start wiping down all the glass because it was filthy. I sure hope that employee quit because no one should be treated like that, I will NEVER go to hallenbecks again.

Took coins in appraised for more than $1000/each. The lady helping us was eating her lunch the entire time acting as though we were a disturbance all while trying to buy the coins for 10¢....... they were very condescending and rude.......
