I was at college park bicycles to purchase a bicycle for my birthday. They have a wide variety of bicycles and are also into repairs. I was well attended to by Carolyn. She was very attentive, patient and most importantly was able to work around my budget. I was impressed I was able to purchase a used bicycle on a short notice despite of the bike shortage due to Covid 19. I am a very satisfied customer so I hereby highly recommend.Very Friendly And Courteous Staff✅Good Service ✅♿️Wheelchair Accessible Entrance✅🅿️ Adequate Parking Space ✅

I called to inquire about having someone assemble an e-bike I purchased online. The staff member I spoke to told me that e-bikes bought online are made in China, usually of poor quality, have various issues because they come with cheap motors so therefore they dont assemble them.He told me this without asking what brand I purchased or offering alternative options for assembly. The brief interaction was dismissive and just downright poor customer service. The irony is that I spent almost $4K on the bike and it is one of the brands listed on College Park Bikes website as one they carry (which was the main reason I called the shop). If the staff simply conveyed that they do not assemble e-bikes not bought from the store and left it at that, I wouldnt have an issue. But to have an employee denigrate a potential customers purchase because of presumed product inferiority as justification for refusing service is just bad business. Not only because this potential customer is writing a negative review of the shop but also in lost future revenue because I wouldnt ever consider servicing my bike here.

As an avid cyclist, Ive been to many shops both here and in NYC. This is a topnotch shop! These guys made a couple of very needed adjustments on my rear derailleur, quickly changed my tires for me (as I didnt have my tools on me) all within 20 minutes!! Excellent shop. They know what theyre doing! Advice: they are very busy, so you have to let them know you need help as soon as you walk in. They wont seek you out as they are literally busy at all times with their heads down fixing multiple bikes at once.. But once you grab their attention, they take care of you 100%. I say this because parts are hard to come by due to COVID19. But if no one answers just go in. I watched them help so many walk ins. I dont know if they are able to do this often, but they offered to carry my bike back to the car due to my wheels not being on at that moment. They really need to place out a tip jar. The service was that good and my bike rode beautifully. They have the prices posted too.

I entered the bike market during the 2020 Covid bike shortage, as did everyone else. Finding a 47cm road bike for my wife was a pretty tough feat to accomplish. We call College Park Bikes and ask if they have any 47cm road bikes, and Yes they do!! They were unwilling to tell us what makes/models they had over the phone because they were “really busy”, but ok anyhow, they have the right size so we head to the store to check out what they have.We get there to the store and are greeted buy the staff. They show us the bike they have available in the size we needed. They then asked for my id so my wife could take it for a test ride. All good. She likes it!! How much is it? $1199.00 — Cool lets get it. As we are walking to the register, I ask what year is this bike? Its a 2014 the guy replied. Ok so I pay and the receipt says its a 2011.. whoa 3 year difference, but the wife is happy, so it was a win. (At least so I thought)Why 2 stars? This business preys on folks (like me) who didn’t do their research prior to walking in to their store. I easily paid double what this 9 year old bike was worth.Would I ever go back to College Park Bikes?NOWould I recommend College Park Bikes to others?NO - but if you do go, I suggest you do your research to know the market value of what ever you are looking for before going. Please do your home work, and avoid this place. If you purchase anything from them, you will be left feeling like you got robbed without a mask or gun!!

I went in with my Cannondale M700, seeking a 26” replacement inner tube with a presta valve, only to be told that 26” inner tubes are currently “globally” unavailable.Globally is a strong word to use, when I managed to order the replacement tube from amazon and received in the same week. They could’ve just said that “they” were out of stock..Anyhow, I managed to change the inner tube myself at home.Dear Manager:A shop with good customer service skills, would not let a client leave with a flat tire, but rather suggest that they order online from companies such as Amazon that do have stock- and mention that they would gladly install the tube for the customer if they did manage to find the item outside of the shops resources.

The sales gentleman suggested me to test ride a Trek Domane all carbon just to get a feel, it was little bit over my budget. but wow after riding the carbon bike vs the Alloy it was a big difference and couldnt buy the Alloy, ended up buying the Carbon bike. Im glad that i purchase the Carbon as opposed to trading up to a carbon and loosing money in the future. This bike shop is terrible. I wish I was able to give them 0 stars. The owner of the store is more interested in talking about himself than answering questions and selling bikes. I left messages with multiple people and never had my calls returned. When I went into the shop, I had to listen to the drama between the owner and one of the workers. I ended up working directly with Bike Friday to design a bike, and they encouraged me to purchase the bike from the shop, to build a relationship. Against my better judgement I decided to do this. When Bike Friday called to let the shop know that I would be coming in to purchase the bike, the guy at the shop told him that I shouldnt bother because he was too busy to help me. Yes, you read that right, the shop was too busy to accept my $1700.If you are looking for another shop in the area, try Proteus. If you are looking for Bike Friday bikes, just order directly. They both have great customer service!

Upon entering I was not acknowledged (not even a hi let me know if you need any help), walked around for 5-6 minutes with no one else in the store (the technician walked past me several times without even looking at me). Then two college aged women walked in and the technician immediately dropped everything he was doing and helped them, gave them a tour and offered to help with whatever they needed. I purchased my road bike from CPB after visiting several stores. My decision was based primarily on two factors. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and their bike fitting policy. Every bike store I visited had knowledgeable staff, but I was impressed with their policy to adjust the bike to my size. Also, Gil, is an outstanding rep. From the minute I walked in, he was enthusiastic about explaining concepts to me. This was my first road bike and he patiently explained several aspects. Each time Ive dealt with Charles and hes been exceptional in spending all the time necessary to get everything just right for me. Most recently, he spent more than an hour making sure a wheel and a rear rack for the a humble, inexpensive, used Novara were working great, the kind of service Id expect when buying a $2000 bike. He also made sound recommendations for replacement parts as well as educated me on how the different models function and would operate on a folder. I definitely appreciate Phils knowledge of folders. He also explained how the older and less efficient model of my shifters compares to newer ones and how it contributes to the problem and why I would benefit from a replacement. Ive been going to this shop for about 6 years. Might be even longer. Ive bought 2 bikes here and had many fixes. Usually not a problem. But my most recent experiences will have me taking my business to another store in the future (and there are plenty nearby).I came into the store about 2 weeks ago with a flat. Simple fix right? The tech starts on my bike while I wait, then after about 5 minutes stops and starts helping another person who just walked in. I wait more. After about 10 minutes he goes back to my bike. Yes! I think, almost done. BAM! He pops the tire. I then leave because I have a life and cant wait around for 30+ minutes. Run some errands and they call back, I pick up bike. No sweat. The next day, after one ride. The same tire is flat. Bummer! Bad luck? I take the bike back and explain that I just had it tuned. The tech (a new one) says its probably bad luck. I have doubts b/c the fist person clearly wasnt very good. Turns out the first tech didnt fix it correctly, but this tech does. Yes! I take my bike with me and Im ready to ride.Yet again, after a single ride, my tire is flat! Now Im getting frustrated. So, I take my bike back a 3rd time at 10 AM in the morning. Tech (another one) tells me to right my name on some paper and hell get to it. Cool, I got work to do anyways. Now its 2 PM and I havent heard from them, so I call. They havent got to it but will let me know. Its 4 PM and I havent heard, so I call again and explain Im going out of town in the morning and Id like to get my bike. The guy on the phone was getting rude with me asking, when do you want to pick up your bike? Me: is it done? Him, No. Me: okaaayy...um, so like whenever its done is when Ill pick it up.They call back about 30 minutes later and have phone issues. I cant hear the guy on the other line. So I call back, a woman answers and I tell her the whole story... she puts me on hold and transfers me. Ask the guy if the bike is done and he says it is. (No wonder Im having 99 bike problems if they cant track the phone). So I pick it up for the THIRD time and ask if they found the underlying problem. The guy (owner maybe?) talks condescendingly to me about how flats can happen for any reason and it could happen 50 feet from the store. Cool! I learned how tires work. Except, this time it was the techs fault for not fixing my bike the first 2 times. And no sorry for the inconvenience. No thanking me for coming back year after year. So now Im done. Hopefully this third time holds up. *fingers crossed* They get 2 stars instead of 1 b/c they used to be good. Definitely a downward trend though.Update: dropped to one star because my tire is flat again standing me at the metro in the rain. Who cant fix a flat problem after 3 tries?
