I purchased my Terra Trike from Barr. I knew they had a great reputation for serving their customers. I did not want to purchase my bike from anyone else. I have not been disappointed with my choice of bike shops. I rode over today having some questions regarding the shifting mechanism. It was Al who helped me better understand the shifting mechanism and how to get the most from it. He knows his bikes and he knows the importance of truly listening to his customers needs. All the staff who work there are so very accommodating. If you are looking for a bike and great service after the purchase, head on over to Barr.

Ive been intentionally sending my business their way as theyre a long time bike shop that Ive shopped at many times over the years, but unfortunately, no more.Recently I dropped off a rear wheel with 1 broken spoke with a slightly out of true wheel. Imagine my surprise when I was handed a bill for $50! The bike itself isnt worth much more than that. In full disclosure, shame on me for not asking up front.Other shops charge half as much, in fact, the highest amount I could find anywhere was $35, which when you think of the time it takes a pro to do it is much more reasonable and what I was expecting. They even did a quick check on the rim to ensure truing it wouldnt be excessive. Of course, theyre entitled to charge whatever they think the market will bear, but there is such a thing as gouging your customers and thats how I felt about this transaction. I called them to see if there was possibly an error, but was told that no, thats how much it is - didnt get a warm fuzzy there either. The lesson here is buyer beware and never assume.

We recently splurged and bought two TerraTrike Rambler EVO’s. While they were not inexpensive, they have given me the confidence to ride a bike again. The price was worth it to see the smile on my husband’s face while I’m finally riding with him. Huge confidence booster for anyone who is concerned about riding a regular bike. Plus, it’s a lot of fun! Dave at Barr Bike has been great throughout the process and each day when we come back to add more goodies to our trikes. We have been customers of Barr Bike and Sport for over 5 years,and decided to purchase our TerraTrike Travellers after searching for trikes that could be easily broken down and transported in our SUV for trips across the country. Traveller fit the bill and served us well ever since. Though we dont believe TerraTrike creates the full break down version anymore, we have seen so MANY more trikes on the road in recent years. Recently we decided to have Barr Bike retrofit our trikes to electric assist which has given us even more reasons to love and expand our choice of trails. As we have told others, these trikes have been a life changing experience and have just gotten even better. Dave and his crew have been excellent to work with. Hes honest, knowledgeable, and has a friendly shop in which to search and find the bike of your dreams!! They are there to support your habit and keep you up to date and your bike fit for the rides ahead. So lucky to have them in our neighborhood!PS How could i forget to add a 5 star RAVE about our purchase of the Smart Cycling R1 EVO helmets! Dave mentioned them to us and this has also ramped up our enjoyment of our rides in being able to communicate with each other (even at quite a distance), listen to FM radio, and even be able to facilitate phone calls if we wish. I stopped in looking for a rear trunk bag for a bike packing trip this summer. Dave was extremely friendly and helpful in finding me a bag that would meet my needs in what I was looking for. An extra bonus was the bag was also on sale. I dont live in the Des Moines area as I was in town due to State Basketball Tournaments. The repair people were very helpful and fast. They even did a last minute request when I picked up my bike. My simple bike is operating so smoothly I am surprised by the improvement. Bo us they wore masks and so did the customers which made me feel safe. I highly recommend this establishment.

Purchased 3 bikes in July. Retired gentleman who only works on Wednesdays gave me great service! Wife didnt like the bike I purchased for her. We took it right back and worked with Manager Dave to find one that fit her better and that she liked. During our second visit we purchased another bike for our Granddaughter. Great bike store thats been in the same location for over 100 years! I purchased a close out 2017 new. Wifes Bike was about $50 higher cost than on-line but well worth it for assembled and adjusted vs. buying in a box off line. My close-out bike was 35% off retail. Used bike was in like-new condition and about 50% off a new model. Highly recommend Barr Bike!

I was in Clive to visit some family. I stopped by to check out a couple of bikes. Even though I told them I was just looking, they brought out a model of the bike I was interested in (in my size) and offered to let me take it for a test ride.The staff was extremely knowledgeable and polite. Although I live in Council Bluffs, I am planning on driving the extra distance to purchase from this shop.

I had previously been going to bike world and the experience was good enough but dizzying. I went to Barr on a whim and am very happy with the personalization and professionalism. Jason was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Not only did I just buy a bike I was given education about many other things that have already made my cycling experience better. Barr is my place now!

Got a nice helmet here, but the service guy was gone the next 5 days and another person didnt know to tell me what type of brake fluid you put in matters before selling a kit. Another shop showed me the importance of mineral fluid.

I got my GT sport aggressor here and they included a 1 time tune up which came in handy when my sprocket rail cable snapped I put it back together just tight enough to make it home and they only charged me maybe 11$ for the cable. They stuck to their word on the free tune up, and I wouldnt go anywhere else for my gear and sprocket problems. Very VERY good customer service, they dong hustle you into a bike that might be improperly fitted for you, they take your purchase seriously and thats something you wont find at bike world, or any warehouse bike shop.11/10

Had a bike Terra Trike bought for my son that they had at the store. Told them we would be in next week to pick it up. Latest Thursday. Went to pick it up Monday so my son could ride it and they sold HIS bike to someone else. Told me they would build him another one but couldnt get today. WHAT THE HECK GUYS.

Favorite bike store in the Des Moines area. They sell Cannondale bikes among others, but I like Cannondale the best. My Super 6 Evo Shram Red is the lightest, best bicycle I have ever had.

This is the worst place ever. Not only did they snap the neck of my bike i rode in but they were nice enough to tyne my bike so that it skipped gears till i took it to a place that knew what they where doing. I could have done it beter myself without now paying one minute. They lie made me pay for a new neck they snapped and belong in jail for being such a suck business. I dont want to pay for a 20 lneck because you broke my 80 dollar one because you cant train your people correctly. P.s. you suck.. dont bother to reply. Your a loser to your customers.
