I came here to get some snacks for one of my clients. When I arrived I parked in the plaza parking lot. I walked in and two young ladies were working and I was greeted by one of them. They had a deal of buy 10 get 2 free so I got 12 mixed cookies and a couple of cupcakes. I paid about $19 for everything. My clients were very happy to see the goodies. The cupcakes were moist and tasty. I didnt try the cookies but they looked great. All in all I had a good experience.

I took my child here for some cupcakes on her 6th birthday. She has a severe peanut allergy so I asked for a random box of 6 without any nuts. The girl behind the counter was super nice and informed me that every cupcake on the bottom had nuts and also wished my girl a happy birthday. We brought the cupcakes home and when my daughter started to eat her very first one, her face started to swell up like a balloon. She was having a SEVERE allergic reaction and I had to drive her to the emergency room. I was so scared for her we were in the emergency until 4 in the morning. The next day we got some sleep and I called the place up again to ask about the cupcakes, and I could not believe the response I got back. Firstly, the lady over the phone was extremely rude. Second, she clarified that all of the cupcakes on the bottom have nuts, which we were informed and had the staff chose for us. There were no nuts on our cupcakes when we brought them home. So how did my daughter have an allergic reaction? Completely ridiculous, this will be the last time I come to this store!!

Update: After calling the bakery in Princeton, the owner of the House of Cupcakes in Clifton, NJ called to apologize same day! Obviously there was nothing to be done for my husband’s party but he was so nice and I appreciated the phone call. He validated that the quality of work was not what they usually create, and as a previous customer I could personally vouch for that. I deleted the photos of the cake that I didn’t like and have added photos of their previous work, which was always phenomenal. The manager also called me that Monday to discuss.Previous review: Save yourself the aggravation and DO NOT order from here. I had previously ordered from House of Cupcakes twice and was so impressed, today that changed. I was throwing my husband a beer themed 31st birthday party and thought that it would be cute to have a look alike beer cake, the cake that he came home with looked so juvenile that the idea of bringing it to the restaurant was mortifying. As a rational person I called House of Cupcakes to see what they could do to fix it, they NEVER offered for me to come in and fix the cake, instead the woman on the phone had me on hold for 22 minutes supposedly looking up my email. When she finally found the email she was defensive and it was not until I suggested that they try to fix it that I was ever even afforded that option. When I came into their location she still continued to argue with me and refused to refund me , I left the cake, disputed the charges with AMEX and picked up 2 cakes from Calandras. Problem solved. What’s worse than the cake was how unprofessionally they handled the entire situation.

Just picked up an order for my twins birthday 🎉. Omg the cupcakes are delicious and flavor full. My faves were the strawberry shortcake and vanilla birthday . Thanks for helping to make their day special.

I made a phone call to the store it was listed as being in Clifton. The lady answered the phone was sooo rude and un pleasant to me. I called to rave about the cupcakes i had just ordered and she was like... whatever!!! I have ordered over 13 times from this store, but because of her attitude this will be the very last time. Thanks for a great taste that left a sour taste in my mouth.

Seriously the most delicious cupcakes! So soft, moist and airy! And there were so many flavors to choose from. My favorite was the Hazelnut crepe and the coconut custard! Out of this world. Would 100% go back!!!

I’ve ordered 25+ pull apart cakes over the years and they’ve all be amazing. If I ever had an issue it was fixed and customer service was top-knotch. I love their selection of gluten free and vegan cupcakes. It’s fitting for a family/ office/ or gathering of people with restrictions. Placing my next order tomorrow.

This review is for the vegan cupcakes. I tried all three flavors. The 2 stars is for the chocolate. It was edible. All 3 cupcakes were hard, dry and powdery. The red velvet was completely inedible. Weird tastes to all of them. Waste of $9. DO NOT GET THEIR VEGAN CUPCAKES! I think they have it just to say they have vegan cupcakes. Its evident no effort goes into it.

The staff was nice, welcoming and friendly. The cupcakes are to die for. My mom fell in love with the chocolate covered pretzels. Everything was top notch. Next time Im in town Ill definitely be stopping by for a delicious freshly made cupcake...

I visit this place often and find the cupcakes pretty decent. I placed an order of 24 cupcakes for baby shower and chose one of the designs from their baby shower catalogue. I showed them the design and discussed the flavors I would like them in. I gave the order a week in advance to make sure we get it right. When I went in to pick up on the day of the baby shower, I was disappointed to find that they provided me with regular cup cakes with the flavors as topping instead of filling them in and there was no sign of the design that was selected and discussed earlier. I could have picked up these anytime anyday; doesnt make any sense. My whole baby shower idea was messed up. They did offer some refund but whats the point? Your occassion is ruined anyway!! I am never going to visit this place again, felt betrayed.

I’m pretty disappointed, I came in this morning when they had just opened to grab vegan cupcakes but more than half of the cupcakes were empty including the vegan ones. When we asked the lady, with an attitude, just told us there wasn’t any, no apology, no letting us know when they would be ready, nothing. so we ended up just leaving. They also seem kind of unorganized, I had gotten a chocolate cupcake with raspberry in it one time around maybe a month ago, and when I went back to get more I was told that someone messed up and made it by accident. So now I’ve tried the best cupcake in the world and I can’t get it because it was a mistake. I definitely like house of cupcakes but the experience today between how empty they were and the attitude of the girl working just made me not want to go back.

I went to the Clifton location for my son’s 17th birthday, with COVID I wanted him to blow out a candle over his own little cake. We are very picky about dessert, can’t be too sweet and has to be fresh! Everyone loved these cupcakes! My son had Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and loved it! My daughter had the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough and thought it was fresh and yummy! My husband had the Boston Cream and couldn’t believe how good it was. I had the hostess looking one and was so happy that it wasn’t too sweet like the chemical tasting Hostess Cupcakes. We will be back to try the others but I can highly rate those 4 flavors by very picky dessert people! The service was fine too!

My 1st experience with them for my sisters baby shower was great so i decided to use them for my sons 1st birthday! i ordered a 30 mini cupcakes for a themed party and was told i can bring my own cupcake liners. I dropped off a pack i bought from amazon and handed it to a girl with short hair and bangs who was also there when another woman took the order. i explained what they were for and even wrote our info on the label and to return the leftovers. When the order was picked up, the liners were returned but not even opened! it just makes no sense. i called and was told there was no reason the liners shouldn’t have been used and they should be calling me to discuss it but never heard back. i gave it to them for a reason and it’s just common sense. what else would it be used for? it was for a big dessert table where everyone would be taking pics so i wanted the cupcakes to stand out and it just look so plain.

So far it’s been the best cupcake i ever had. I just bought two vegan cupcakes and they were amazing. Recommend to all my vegans friends to come here and try this fresh and fluffy snack.

Everything here looked amazing, i took my son here and it took us a while to decide on what we wanted to get! I picked the Italian rainbow cupcake (since those are my favorite cookies) and I was blown away by how amazing it looked and tasted! My son got the red velvet cupcake and muddy boots ice cream and both were delicious and left him smiling and happy we walked 20 minutes to check this place out! We will definitely be back next time we are in New Jersey!

These are really bad. Taste like chemicals, overly sweet icing. Nothing real about them, they taste very fake, even the cake part has a chemical/ fake taste. Never had a worse cupcake. Shoprite is better, Mr. Cupcakes is better. Anything is better.

I bought a couple of cupcakes yesterday and I have to say that the cake part was very soft and delicious. However, they put way too much frosting and not a lot of cake. The frosting is also a little bit too sweet. Especially on their caramel apple cupcake. Other than that, pretty good cupcakes!

I hate myself for how much I love this place. Look, no, seriously. I had the double chocolate cheesecake cupcake and was in heaven. My only suggestion is I wish there were cupcakes here with ice cream. There probably are but its better that I not know about them or else my stomach and my pocketbook will regret it cause Ill buy too many.

Some of their flavors taste like chemicals. Ive had chocolate of all kinds, and all percentage concentrations, and theirs tastes fake. Artificial food coloring tastes bitter in my mouth- I dont think this is a universal thing though, it depends on the person. From their cupcake sampler pack, although Im partial to chocolate, the strawberries and cream flavor tasted the best. Wont be going back, but it was called House of Cupcakes I couldnt not go inside and try it.

Thank God we only bought 3. Hard. Overly sweet. Sweet bricks for dessert. Went to Sonic after and it was 10x better than that atrocity.

If your kids have allergies I wouldn’t purchase the vegan cupcakes. Bought the chocolate and vanilla vegan cupcakes here and both my sons broke out in allergy. Called and manager said my kids must be allergic to soy because that’s all they put in the vegan cupcakes. My sons have allergies to milk, eggs and nuts. There must have been cross contamination with this batch of cupcakes. Not going back here again.

DONT ORDER OR EAT FROM THERE...EMPLOYEES DONT WASH THEIR HANDS!!!!!I walked in to inquire about ordering cupcake for my son’s birthday party . There were two employees there, an African American girl was clean up stuff at the register and the girl was decorating some cupcake. As I inquired about the process of ordering with the African American got, the Caucasian girl stopped to blow her nose and then she continued to decorate the cupcakes. She did not wash her hand...very nasty and unsanitary.

Worst cupcakes Ive ever had, which was disappointing since I thought I was entering THE house of cupcakes. Tried a chocolate, a vanilla and a red velvet and they honestly all tasted the same and all topped with the most sugary frosting I ever tasted. The cupcake itself reminded me a packaged tasty cake kind of cupcake you can get from 7 eleven. Just horrible. Should be called house of sugar because that seemed to be the o ky recognizable ingredient.

I just bought 4 cupcakes for dessert after dinner tonight! And when I serve everyone the cupcakes they was hard as a rock that even the icing was hard. I paid $11. To throw them out to the garbage! THIS PEOPLE DO NOT PUT FRESH CUPCAKES UNTIL THEY SELL WHAT THEY HAVE. VERY DISGUSTING!! DO YOU A BIG FAVOR IF YOU ATE IN THE MOOD FOR CUPCAKES GO TO A LOCALBAKERY OR SHOPRITE! I’m pretty sure you will get better and fresh quality than this place.

This place looked great with lots of options. We bought a dozen and some were amazing!!! The cream filled ones that look like hostess cupcakes for example were delicious!! But the Chocolate Riot icing tasted exactly like canned frosting from Betty Crocker. Really gross . So a mixed review.

I went there for the first time today and bought an assortment of 6 cupcakes. I never had anything so bad in my life! I think S&S cupcakes are better and thats not really a compliment. The cake part was nothing to write home about but the toppings were terrible. Hard, dry and flavorless. I bought a banana cream cupcake ... there was about 1/2 a teaspoon of banana flavor ... the rest was white, flavorless cream. Just because I believe in second chances, I tried a little bit of frosting from the chocolate cupcake ... same thing ... not as hard and dry as the banana cream but not much chocolate flavor either ... just very sweet. At over $2/cupcake, I would call this highway robbery. The rest are just going in the garbage because they simply arent edible. Buyer beware ...

Really disappointed in a custom cake I ordered$50 bucks down the drain 🤬 I asked for custard as a filling and got cheap butter cream. Besides that the cake was dry and over baked...I was so embarrassed when my husband cut the cake...Called back the next day to speak to the manager and an employee would not get anyone on the phone...she just took my number and said no one is going to do anything anyway. This place is disgusting!

One of my #1 cupcake spots. My mouth waters just thinking about the peanut butter and strawberry cupcake. So many of their flavors are delicious but the last time I was there I saw the mother of all cupcakes - peanut butter cookie dough. I wasnt brave enough to take that calorie leap but next time cookie dough....next time.

Good in the beginning bad at end. Gave me and my dad a 1 scoop ice cream and a small ice for my mom. Also charged my dad 10 dollars. This is the first time this ever happened. Her answer to my dad was thats all we could fit on the cone. They ussaly give us 2 scoops. It was good while it lasted. But there ice creams really good. But still never again.

Thus review is ONLY for the vegan cupcakes. They are sadly terrible. The red velvet vegan cake was a brick and the vanilla vegan cake was gummy. Dont bother with them.

I would agree with the comments below. The icing is way too sweet, even the buttercream is not that great. Also they should really work on their customer service skills. I would go here if I have no other options I guess.

Too bad a star has to be given to submit a review. Their cookies, cupcakes and ice cream are ok but they really need to do a better job hiring their staff. No type of people skills, horrible customer service. My child and I waited a little over 20 minutes unattended while One person took care of the one person in the store other than us; never did she say can I help you or I’ll be right with you we just waited patiently. Another customer walks in and she simply took her before us as if we were just hanging out in the store with no intention to buy anything. Needless to say I walked out super upset without buying anything and even at that point she sees us walking out and doesn’t attempt to stop us and make a Sale. Feel sorry for the owners of this place; with employees like this the business will never maximize its true potential.

We tried a peanut butter cupcake and a cookies and cream cupcake from their food truck at the Summit street fair. They were both moist cupcakes but NOT worth $3 a piece. They were normal chocolate cake with uninspiring icing covered with a topping off peanut butter or cookie crumbs. For a business that won cupcake wars I expected much more - at least to have the cake mixture or icing flavored in some way rather than just normal icing that every grocery store bakery makes cheaper.

OMG, your cupcakes were so good. Im not a cupcake person but my daughter asked me to try them, I tried the vegan one, and I LOVED IT. I just got them for my daughters birthday and you guys did not disappoint. Thank you. (STRAWBERRY was my fav). Absolutely delicious.

I order every year to celebrate my kids birthday at school, used to go to the one in Bay plaza in the Bronx, but they close. Now going to the one in Clifton, Great cupcakes and designs!

This was my second time here. I wanted to order cupcakes for my college graduation. There were 2 young ladies there and another lady who was the manager. The 1st young lady I spoke to was a bit snippy. Not really wanting to help me. Im at the register and told her the theme of the cupcakes I wanted, so she said you can look at the graduation themed cakes to get an idea so I go the front and Im looking at the display, no graduation theme in there, so I loudly ask her where she was referring, she points to books that have pics, however none where related to my theme. The books were baby shower, B-day, corporate. So I found the book. Then I found a pic I liked, then I asked her how many cupcakes are with that cake, she said however many u want, then she walks away. I wanted to taste flavor of cupcake, 1st girl was like, oh u want to buy, umm normally u get free sample if your making big purchase, nevertheless, i bought the cupcake with my debit card, which i never got receipt for, she threw it away and walked away. I asked the 2nd girl to help me, so I showed her the cake, then someone walked in, she also walked away and never came back, the manager saw me standing waiting & didnt ask if I needed help. I just walked out. Will not go back there. Not sure why, but I can guess why I received that type of service

I placed an order with House of Cupcakes for my boss - she wanted Christimas themed cupcakes - they came out AMAZING!! Everyone in the office LOVED them!! We will be back!! =)

Cupcakes are very good! But I was not impressed with the display, cupcakes were turned over on their sides, crumbs and frosting mess everywhere! And the cupcake cakes they have displayed were very messy almost looked like they were melting!
