We had dinner here last Saturday night. It was outstanding. I had the flat iron steak. It was the most flavorful steak I have ever had. It was served on top of grits with grilled veggies. It was so dang good, I’ll make the 5 hour drive back to Cleveland just for this place! My wife had red snapper...served on a medley of veggies that I had no idea went with fish! It was phenomenal. It’s a casual, but beautiful place. Great, friendly southern hospitality! We will be back! And the moonpie bread pudding was incredible! Sorry...it was the only photo I thought to take...everything was so damned good!

We had lunch during the down week between a Christmas and New Year’s. We were a little disappointed that the tamales were not available, but the rest of the menu lived up to our hyped up, “Somebody Feed Phil” expectations. The wedge salad is a thing of beauty and is very well a meal in itself. The hot ham and cheese sandwich was perfect. The staff is friendly and the environment bright and clean. A wonderful place for a meal, and the grits, polenta, and cornmeal are available for purchase. Enjoy!

We planned a stop in Cleveland just for this meal and were not disappointed, the service and food was wonderful. Simple but elegant and tasty dishes. Was a bit confused reading prior negative reviews as this was one of our best meals on our road trip!

The Delta Meat Market was a very pleasant surprise. It’s located in the hotel we were staying in (The Cotton House). We went for dinner and the service was A+. The chef is a James Beard Award nominee, which says a lot. I can’t remember the name of my cocktail, but it was basically a Cosmo topped with bubbly (either Prosecco or Champagne). The first one was good but the 2nd didn’t taste the same. The bartender left out the bubbly. Our server was quick to resolve the issue, so that was much appreciated. My party of 2 shared the Burrata as an appetizer…it was different but good! I had the scallops and spinach salad as an entrée. The scallops were cooked to perfection (which is hard to do) but the spinach salad didn’t meet the mark. I’ve had better and can make better at home. The presentation of the salad was lacking and the hot bacon vinaigrette both appeared to be and tasted like straight bacon grease. Again, I make a similar vinaigrette at home so this was disappointing. The other guest had the grilled pork chop which was tender and very flavorful. We shared the moonpie bread pudding for dessert. While it didn’t taste like moonpie, it was a delicious and very rich dessert. While there are some things that could be better, I’d definitely return.

This review is for “Bar Fontaine” .. but it’s the same folks that own Delta Market. The food and drinks are outstanding!! Lemon Drop Martini for me! There is only 1 other place that makes them that good... Deadwood SD. Staff is awesome! Love that they have live music on Saturday’s “Horis” . (Just wish there was a way to have speakers on the patio). Kudos to our server and the bar tenders!

The positive: On a Tuesday evening, Bar Fontaine was open. (Delta Meat Market, our destination, was not.) We had the place to ourselves. Our server was friendly and attentive. The rest: The food was not good. I ordered the chicken stir fry. (Unless intended to be a nod to Mississippis Chinese community, it was an odd menu item, but everything else seemed heavier than I was up for.) The broccoli was over-cooked -- olive-green and mushy. The oyster sauce was very aggressive, as was the salt. She ordered steak frites. She is Francophone; she knows steak frites. Obviously, a chef may take liberties with the classic presentation, but this was not good take. The ratio of steak to fries was low. More critically, all were dredged in salt and doused unpleasantly in what tasted an awful lot like the same oyster sauce that featured so prominently in the stir fry. (Also, both dishes were indifferently plated.)Ive seen the responses to other negative reviews, so let me emphasize: we had no quibble with the service or the wait time. The food was the disappointment. We were passing through; we have not had good luck with meals elsewhere on this road trip; we were very much looking forward to DMM.

I visited Delta Meat Market on two separate occasions during a business trip to Cleveland. I stopped in Sunday night as it was one of the only places in town that isnt a chain that was open. The atmosphere was great, it wasnt too busy so it was nice and quiet. Where to get service was a bit confusing walking in - needed to order at the bar, found my own seat and they brought my hamburger to me. Hamburger was excellent - lots of smokey flavor and the price was right. Being Sunday, they had a very limited menu. Draft beer selection is pretty pitiful, but they have some can selections as well. Staff was awesome - personable, approachable, and actually took a moment to chat.I returned my last night in Cleveland - menu was more full, restaurant was pretty full so I sat at the bar. Had a beer then switched to a mixed drink - the Old Fashioned was mixed very well - the bartenders were again awesome, personable, and held conversations with us at the bar. I ordered the steak frites I believe - amazing strips of perfectly-cooked steak over fries. Just awesome.I wish I could have gone back - this was my favorite place in Cleveland due to the staff and the clientele who took time to chat at the bar. It was great for an extrovert traveling alone in need of some social human interaction.

Somewhat disappointed! Seemed more of a hot spot for drinking rather than dining. Chef is a local celebrity and appeared more interested in visiting with his friends than the quality of his food. We stayed in the hotel, so was a little confused why the restaurant wasnt open for Sunday brunch..... We went elsewhere and so did several other groups from the hotel. Hmmmmmmm......

The place has very nice decor. The waitresses were very polite/sweet and often apologetic.Thats the positive. In contrast to those things, it took no less than 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive (the restaurant didnt seem busy). When they did arrive they werent what we ordered.... That wasnt worth writing a negative review about, but the raw chicken and broken glasses we had inspired me to post this.

My excitement and anticipation for my first meal at Delta Meat Market was quickly met with disappointment. Farm to table and locally sourced ingredients should be a representation of the community, culture and expertise of the chef, however this was not my experience. Our table of four had under cooked chicken, cold, oil saturated potato wedges, a scallop dish with substituted golden raisins for cranberries and a strawberry shortcake that was bitter. While I understand the struggles of restaurant owners and the service industry in general during COVID, there is still a level of responsibility owed to those who chose to visit your business if you remain open and accept their money. I too was surprised by the amount of tables occupied by people drinking rather than eating, which made my experience even worse because it wasn’t due to too many orders on a short staffed kitchen. If I were local, I would absolutely visit again for redemption purposes, but unfortunately I traveled from Jackson for DMM and can’t say I would make that trip again or wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone else. Hopefully my experience was an “off night”.

I’d like to say I was able to eat at this place as I searched for the best place to eat in Cleveland and chose this place. This review is not based on the food. It’s best solely on the customer service we received. We walked in but were unsure where to order or if we were to seat ourselves. A waitress or a hostess did not greet us. As I walked in the direction of who I thought may be the hostess, she simply pointed to a menu without even looking at us and told us “Thats where the menu is and order here when you have picked something out.” No greeting, no eye contact, no effort to pick up and hand us a menu she has her pointer finger in range of picking up, and a brush off like we were there to bother her. We walked out the same way we came. Too bad. I’m here every 16 weeks and wanted a nice place to go while in Cleveland I could be a regular at. I’m a fair reviewer and maybe I’ll try again sometime but I believe your “front face” in customer service should be the best you’ve got to show your customers they are valued.I have edited this review as I was called right away with an apology for the poor service and an invite on them the next time I’m in town. Great customer service. Hoping to try the food next trip!!! 😊

Saw this place on Netflix and was super excited to try it. Started well enough, its a very pretty restaurant with a nice staff and an awesome location in the Cotton Row part of Cleveland. My family and I had an hour to eat before we had to be at a football game. We sat down and there were only 3 other people there and they already had their appetizers. We ordered and then we waited over 45 minutes. At this point we had to leave so I went to get our food to go, we got it bagged and the manager said he would reopen my ticket and discount it after I left. So far this hasnt happened. The food was mediocre at best. The 30 dollar steak entree wasnt enough to fill up my 14 year old daughter who then had to eat most of my 13 dollar burger. The burger was tender but mostly tasteless, and the 6 small roasted potato wedges were mushy and bland. Lastly, my wife got the 18 dollar charcuterie board that didnt even fill up the styrofoam to go box...Overall, the only redeeming features were the style and decor and my daughter said the 4 bites of steak were amazing.Edit: I absolutely have no issues waiting for good food. My issues were it was a 45+ minute wait when there was literally one other table in the entire restaurant. We sat before 5:15, we were a little late because of a tractor, but I wasnt aware that burgers, a salad, and charcuteries would take so long. The manager was accommodating, however, the portion size of what we had was very underwhelming. Judging by the other reviews, this was apparently an outlying incident, but its an honest review.Update: Never received my discount. Hopefully this is not indicative of what its usually like.

They also stock several local/regional craft beers which was nice.

Honestly I am MAD about how great this place is. Now every time I drive by Cleveland I will have to stop! The service was above and beyond, super patient and really friendly. The food was AMAZING, came out quick and hot and mouthwatering just thinking about how delicious it was. Portion size was pretty big & had to bring half of my sandwich home. Cant wait to go back and stay at the hotel also. Bought some meat to bring home and the service over there was outstanding, too. Just doggone love yall.

(First google review I’ve ever left)Extremely disappointed in this place. Chicken was so dry it was like the turkey on National Lampoons Christmas Vacation! Got the chicken and waffles. No one came by to check to on our table despite our efforts of trying to wave someone down. Staff was unconcerned when we brought it to their attention and we waited for management for over 15 minutes. Left hungry. Wish I could ask for my tip back, but they make you pay before you sit down.

The Delta Meat Market, now located on the ground floor of The Cotton House Hotel in Cleveland, MS has been a rare jewel in the downtown area for several years now, but in its new incarnation on the other side of the green strip, it has blossomed into a fresh vibrant magnolia bloom of its former self. DMM has always been a great source for premium meat and seafood, but paired with the bright and welcoming space in the new location, it is sure to be one of the finest dining establishments in the entire MS Delta. From the moment my party and I walked in to DMM, we were cared for by friendly and attentive staff who not only took our orders with charming courtesy and prompt attention to detail, but made us feel at home as we took our seats. It is a rare and wonderful thing when diners feel like the staff has been secretly waiting for them to arrive all along! The seating was spacious and comfortable and the décor was inviting and the overall ambiance was like walking in to a room of old friends.I was dining with my wife and a few close friends and we ordered a variety of items from the menu so that we could share and experience some of the many exciting options available for dinner. My wife was thrilled at the presence of deviled eggs topped with bacon marmalade and sweet onion jam. Our friends chose the pork kielbasa and grits, and I ordered the wedge salad and the green tomato soup. My wife and friends raved about the eggs. I sampled the kielbasa and grits and was blown away! The sausage was cooked to perfection and even as a good old boy born and raised in the South, I’ve never had finer grits in my entire life! They were so creamy! The salad was excellent, but the shining surprise of our starters was the green tomato soup! It was topped with shaved almonds and the lemon and parsley in the soup gave it a fresh effervescence that felt like a spring morning.Just as we were polishing off our starters, our entrees arrived. Two of my friends ordered the grilled king salmon, one ordered the Homeplace Pastures Pork Chop with honey, and I decided to try my luck with the lamb curry. I HAD to have more of those grits and so ordered some as a side along with the sweet potatoes and sorghum. As we all began to dig in, our simmering dinner conversation about work and families was immediately replaced with polite closed mouth moans of gustational pleasure. The lamb curry was rich and spicy and topped a bed of gloriously tender long grain rice. The grits… mamma never made so good. The sorghum sweet potatoes were just about the best application for that tuber one could ever ask for!My friends were fortunate enough to share and I got to sample the pork chop, as well and I was only disappointed that I would have seemed a glutton to have ordered one right then and there and enjoyed it with my lamb curry! We finished our meal off with dessert. I had the lemon pound cake and it was a marvelous balance of rich textures, sweet icing, and tart lemon glaze. After dinner we went to the roof for a cocktail at the new Bar Fontaine and the relaxing atmosphere, cheery service, and incredible view of beautiful downtown Cleveland rounded out a perfect evening of great food, great drink, and great friends. It has been a long time since I’ve felt so thoroughly satisfied with a dining experience here in Cleveland. I am looking forward to many more and I highly recommend and endorse both Delta Meat Market and Bar Fontaine as stops for anyone looking for a memorable fine dining experience.Chef Cole Ellis and all of his staff are to be congratulated on such a fine job!
