The crew the was unprofessional! They moved landscaping pavers without asking me and threw them on my neighbors property! They left space under the fence so my dog could get out! They left trash all over the property and over filled the post holes where grass is to be planted and now can’t! When I called the company sales person he made excuses for them!!Worst of all, they BROKE THROUGH THE DOWNSPOUT OUT FLOW AND FILLED IT WITH CEMENT!!! This backed up the water next to my foundation which would have eventually flooded my basement!! The crew obviously didn’t care because they left pieces of the pipe in my garden!!! The manager says that is not their responsibility and refuses to investigate the reasons this happened and hung up!!DO NOT USE THEM!!

Not to sure if it’s because I did the scheduling through Home Depot or not but here is my experience with Great Lakes fence co:4/5/2021:I scheduled through Home Depot’s app, received a call from Home Depot scheduling me a date with their contractor (this company)They can schedule me a little under two months out, nbd it’s a busy season I understand. They mention the gentleman who would be doing my estimate, Jim Gallagher.4/21/2021:I received a call from Jim stating “I’m in the area I can do your estimate now”He comes over and everything goes great. He seems to be a great salesman. I’m really excited because this is my first house and to have a privacy fence for my backyard would be awesome!He tells me he should have my estimate available by Friday.4/29/2021:I reach out to Jim regarding my estimate as I have not heard back. I receive radio silence.I’m thinking at this point I guess I could wait for my original appointment day. 5/24/2021 comes along. It gets to 1:30pm and still nothing. No call/text or email.I literally got ghosted by Jim.

Finished product is awesome. Richie was a great salesman to work with. He was always prompt to respond to my questions. The crew showed up on time, got straight to work, and completed the tear down of the old fence and installation of the new fence in two days. The crew did a great job not tearing up my yard and they cleaned up the yard great when they finished. Id highly recommend Great Lake Fence Company, they were a pleasure to work with.

We had 500 ft of picket fence installed and a small paddock with horse fencing installed. Chris and Rich were both highly responsive. The crew showed up when promised and were incredibly precise. Over 500 feet and every inch is STRAIGHT and LEVEL. We made some last minute changes to gates and they rolled with it. We had just purchased our home and did not know where some underground lines were. We thought we hit some during installation, when in fact, there was just a gap between power being provided between owners because we didnt overlap responsibility for ownership with the power company. It was stressful but they helped us communicate with the power company until it was sorted out. And they had done their due diligence by having the lines marked prior to installation. We want to have them back to install more horse fencing. Excellent workmanship, Great communication, First Class Company.

This company states that they fix gates...but spoke with staff member and was told they only doing NEW PROJECTS since COVID 19. This is just bad business especially since this is on the website.

Great Lakes Fence put a fence in at my home and did a tremendous job. People were friendly and professional. My fence was complicated due a retaining wall and grade of my yard. The fence turned out better than I could have imagined. I highly recommend Great Lakes Fence!!

We just had them install over 275 feet of the Dogwood / Haven series in white. I signed the paperwork in early spring, and had asked them to see what they could do to work with me as we were getting trespassers weekly. They were able to help me out and move me up in the schedule.I worked with Rich in getting the quote, and he helped me revise it short notice. The morning we were supposed to have the install, was very windy and rainy. I got a call at 8:10AM from the lead saying they cant install but will be there tomorrow. They showed up at 7:50AM and immediately starting working. I did walk with the lead to just go over the plan. During the install, they did ask such things like exactly where do I want the gates. Whats nice about this system is they build each panel/post as they go, not install all the posts then go back. All the guys knew what they were doing and worked very hard to get it as level as they could on our property that had some high and low spots. They were done early afternoon. Overall a great experience and highly recommend them to anyone that asks.

Great Lakes Fence installed a fence Copperwood and told the home owner it would stop smelling after 4 months. It has been 3 1/2 years and it still smells like diesel fuel. I am in the process of getting a lawyer, and having my soil tested for contaminants.

From the first call to the estimate to the install im so very happy with Great Lakes Fence. Out of four companies I called they were the only ones that were nice to me on the phone. The estimator was very informative no pressure at all. The guys that installed my fence were Awesome and very skilled. I highly recommend this company.

Had a 9am appointment for an estimate. No one showed and no one called. I had to call twice to find out what happened. I was promised an estimate in email, but never received one. Never got a call back to reschedule an estimate either.

Best fence company

I had 5 companies come out in September 2017. The first guy practically ran off the property when he found out I had a few beehives. The other four had no problem. The estimates were all relatively in the same ballpark. I liked the option of the Ozark lumbar from Great Lakes. Six months later I called Great Lakes and said I would like to get the fence in as soon as I could. I almost expected them to say they would need to rework the estimate due to the length of time passed. Our salesman Rich M. pulled up the estimate and came out the next day to get everything squared away. I was sort of dismayed when they said it would be five weeks out, but to my surprise the permit went through pretty quick and Great Lakes called to set up a time to come out. The installation took a little longer, but that was due to the weather in early March and not Great Lakes. They finished today and the crew was polite and hardworking and the fence looks great. A couple of days the weather warmed up enough for the bees to start flying but it didn’t phase the installers a bit. Based on my experience I would recommend this company without hesitation.

So about 3 years ago I purchased about 35 ft of 4 ft fence from these guys. I opted for one of the top tier types of wood Ozark something I believe, supposed to be some good long lasting wood. They came out for a site visit and told me everything was good to go. Fast forward to day of install and they send one guy maybe 20 years old to do the install in a beat up unmarked truck, probably due to the fact that this guy told me that he doesnt even work for them he just subs some work from them during the summer. He then explained to me that because the ground is giving him a hard time that they will need to charge me hundreds extra. Hey would have been nice to hear this possibility prior maybe durring the site inspection but whatever I just wanted it done. It then took him 3 days to install this tiny fence and he just showed up as he pleased over those three days. Current day I want to sell the house and about 15-20 of the slats are warped some pretty badly. So I call them and was told the warranty only covers bugs and they wont do anything about it. So there is no satisfaction guarantee, no warranty on the fence itself, and all this over a small portion of the fence. After looking at other negative reviews on here its clear that this company does not care to keep their customers happy one bit after they have the check for the job in their hand. I mean I work at customers houses every day and have went way above And beyond to ensure my work is beyond reproach and that the customer couldnt be happier. I guess not everyone cares that much though. Save yourself the trouble there are cheaper better companies out there.

The fence is great. The office staff never answered or returned a call. I had to wait for them to call me. Not a great feeling when they have your money. In the end, it all worked out but I won’t use them again.

We had the pleasure of interacting with many of the wonderful people at this establishment! And we couldnt be happier with the outcome! They come and installed a much needed new fence in less than 3 days. Everyone was extremely friendly and considerate! We will use them again in the future! And recommend them to others as well!

Went through Home Depot to get a fence installed 3 weeks ago. They never attempted to call or otherwise contact but were were as the local contractor. Dont waste your time contacting these people, they clearly dont want to be bothered.

Spent more money on this house project than I ever have...and it was worth it.My installers Johnny and Ryan were precise and did the job with skill.They were considerate with my install and dug a few holes by hand to accommodate a sprinkler line.They were true pros from start to finish!The fence was high quality and the 2 neighbors that were at risk of disliking my fence actually complimented it.Want a pro to install your fence? After waiting 3 months and a rocky start with Home Depot and Great Lakes Fence, out came Brent Mittelstaedt. Not only did he call me that morning, but he took the time to explain to me what he was going to do and why. He is a very conscientious young man and very methodical and precise in his work. He worked nonstop each day he came. He was a Godsend!! And I told him he was worth waiting for. I am very happy with the way the fence turned out and have received many compliments. Brent should be recognized for his very professional work!

We signed a contract with a salesman who misinformed us about the companys procedures. This company has been around for many years, I thought they would be a honest fair company, And boy was I wrong! Where do I start??? The salesman will say anything to get the sale, But fails to follow through with anything. He didnt return any of our phone calls. His office reps were just AS BAD They picked & chose which phone calls they would answer. They were very misleading and everyone I dealt with at their store were very deceptive.... We were promised that they would get our fence application into the building department the next day....My wife offered to do it herself because Time was of the essence We later found out that this was never done. We were lied to about company policies and Great Lakes fence refused to honor our signed contract. I would rate them negative 5 stars for honesty, Costumer Service, & for being reliable. My advice is RUN away from this company. Dont walk, RUN! There are many reputable fence companies in the Cleveland area. My advice is find an American Fence company that has been in Cleveland area for over 48 years.

Contracted this company in June 2018 [during busy season] and just had my fence installed late August 2018.Bobby was the lead guy on the project and I couldn’t be more impressed! The temps were 95+ degrees and they were still out, showed up ready to work and did a great job...the fence looks exactly as it should!Costs were commensurate with other companies due to the time of year I scheduled the work and customer service was excellent back at the office. Only company in the phone book that’s willing to back their work for 15 years...I don’t anticipate an issue, but if I do run into one, I’m confident they will square it away!I’ve heard stories of fence jobs gone bad and I’m glad I contracted this company for the work!Edit:It’s now 2021, fence is still standing, perfectly straight as it should be! I definitely recommend oversized gates!

Amazing experience from start to finish!!! Rich was our estimator. He was on time, very professional and provided sound advice on the various products we were considering. We had multiple estimates and Rich was by far the most knowledgeable and understanding He took the time to explain everything in regards to their warranty and install. So we moved forward with Great Lakes. We waited a few weeks for the product to come in and scheduled for install. The gentlemen that called to scheduled picked up where Rich left off. He offered a few dates for install and said the crew would be there at 8am. They arrived right on time and ready to roll. I walked the yard with the lead installer and explained what we were hoping for. I then needed to go to work and my wife was home with the kids that day. She had questions along the way and stopped the team to ask. Everyone was very polite and more than willing to answer any and all questions without making her feel uncomfortable. The team put up over 200ft of fence in ~6 hours. They returned the hose where they found it and left everything very neat. They even left a little extra product for us as I requested for any future needs I may have! The fence looks amazing and we could not be HAPPIER!!! I will not hesitate to tell anyone how AWESOME Great Lakes Fence is!!!! FIVE STARS FOR SURE !!!!!!! Thanks guys!

Terrible customer service. Even worse is the quality of work!! Fence was installed in a matter of minutes and quickly fell apart. The company only has one kid who doesnt know how to fix a thing. But of course we are expected to pay full price for the fence that looks like a bunch of kindergarten kids with plastic tools put up. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM IF YOU DONT LIKE WASTING MONEY!

I have used these guys for years, but Im sorry to report their poor customer service. I need a minor repair to one section of fence that was crushed by a tree in July. I called them and was told I would be called back in 4 to 8 weeks and someone would look and see what repairs were needed. I call again today and Im told I need to sign a contact , sight unseen, for 800$ just to say hello. Then the actual repair would be 10 or 12 weeks from now. Who would agree to that? They have lost my business forever. Look elsewhere unless you like being treated like like dirt

Stay away from this fence company...had work done thru Home Depot and the work was terrible.Took forever for them to complete the job to start off; kept getting run around when the gate section was coming. Workmanship was terrible, boards not straight on shadow box design allowing gaps..now boards/nails are starting to pop out after just a couple yrs of having it done.

Horrible experience. Make sure you are home to watch over things which i regretfully wasnt able to. 1) wanted 10 foot driveway gate , got 8ft. 2) wanted gate 1 feet from sidewalk , got close to 3feet . These two mistakes combined made the end of fence about 3 feet from where it was supposed to end. 3) took 3 days to install the 120 feet of fence. 4) oh , and was expected to pay full price. good luck with these guys?

If you feel that a job well done or good customer service is important than this is not the company for you. I made the mistake of thinking I was dealing with a quality company and had them do a pretty big job for me ( building a fence for over 15k ) After just a couple of years Im finding our that what I received was a horrible job where they skipped steps and used wrong materials which has led to problems that Im currently dealing with. Ive tried at least half a dozen times to get a hold of their service guys and its always the same thing. The receptionist answers the phone and says that a guy named Chris will call you right back. Well there are no return calls and no attempts to not only take a look at the problems or offer any resolution. Ive been clear that If the items are not covered I would be happy to pay for the work but I need it taken care of. But Chris as well as the entire company have made it clear that once the project is done forget about any kind of help beyond the original work

Did not show up on time or answer the phone when called waited over a hour. Got home to them in my yard with a fence up in the rain in less than 1.5 hrs. Then left mud all over my driveway, nor did they clear areas where they dug post. That was less then a week came home today with a broken panel already

I requested an free estimate for a fence and was given a time. The day and time came waited home for person to come by, but never happened. I called the office and told they have no record of the estimate and they dont do appointments in Windows. This was a total waste of my time.
