Within 10 minutes of entering this establishment. I was sold the most comfortable shoes Ive ever worn. I was instructed to walk and through that he diagnosed my walk pattern and prescribed me a pair of shoes. The shoes came with a week warranty. Definitely recommend.

The service by CJ and Stanley (I believe thats his name, great kid) is always top notch ... I have a wider foot so CJ helped me with shoes that fit me better than just walking in to sell me anything. He sold me my first pair of Hokas and really are loving them. Im not a runner at all but I enjoy a very nice and form fitting shoe that can last. When you want an absolutely great customer experience from start to finish and then some, go see CJ at American Running Company.For years (since high school, actually, and Im 58), I never experienced that wow factor with comfortable running shoes. My feet always hurt sooner or later (usually sooner).Ive gone to several businesses (some national chains, some local) and have been (mis)diagnosed and told that I needed:- wide shoes- regular width shoes- shoes for overpronation- shoes for supination (which is it?)- neutral shoes with premade inserts- custom insertsYou get the idea. Everything under the sun but the right advice. Until, that is, American Running Company was recommended by my doctor who is very in-shape and active. He said that ARC is where he goes and had very high praise for them. I now know why, and so will you when you go there.For the first time in 58 years, I have shoes that are actually comfortable, stable and a joy to wear (and they didnt break the bank). After correctly diagnosing my gait, CJ brought out multiple options to choose from. He evaluated my gait in each pair until we had three candidates, then it was up to me.Not only do I like the expert opinion and other things as mentioned above, I appreciated the time spent with me on analysis, diagnosis and evaluation. It showed I wasnt just another sale but a valued customer.As far as the review that stated ...they didnt even measure my foot, I thought the same thing until it was explained to me that shoes by different manufacturers are just like clothes: a size/good fit in one made by Company A doesnt guarantee a match in size/fit in one made by Company B. Trust ARC to do their job and you wont be disappointed.

My girlfriend and I drove about an hour down there last week, We were told that we have a week to test them out. If we dont like them for any reason that we can bring them back due a full refund or exchange. I made sure that was what was said. Ive worked in retail quite a long time and I know to make sure the customer knows our policies before they leave the store. Had known we couldnt get our money back and Only get an (exchange or store credit) When we came back we would have not purchased them, and got them online like we did. Thats bad buisness and do not recommend going to this store to anyone.

I found this company about 5 years ago after I got into fitness. I thought it was normal for my feet to hurt during & after my workout.... until I heard about ARC. After an assessment, they told me that I needed a certain type of shoe. And they couldnt be more RIGHT!!!! No more pain!These guys & gals definitely know what they are doing.Highly recommend.

Awful return policy and customer service. Sales guy never asked me how long I run, how often, and definitely did not access my gait or have me run on the treadmill or anything. Based on their website, they are supposed to get to know you (running style, history, goals, etc.), do a gait analysis, and then do a fitting and recommendation. I was not given any of these. The only reason I bought a pair of shoes here is because I saw a brand that intrigued me, but the guy never suggested them, nor really any shoe despite me telling him what I was looking for and wanted out of a shoe. He kept saying, 7 day for returns but never told me it was for exchange or store credit only! I did not feel I was appropriately cared for and I also felt I was lied to about the return policy (even the brand of shoes I bought, if I bought them from the manufacturer site, it gives 30 day trial RUN). The shoes actually hit my front toe the wrong way Ive found, and even though they are new, never used, and I was told 7 days to return I actually cant really return the $150 shoes. I dont even want a store credit because I want to go somewhere where I actually feel like Im taken care of and treated like a valuable customer. Totally disappointed with this place and wont be back or reccomend to anyone. And by the way management, get better sales people who can reccomend, assess, and leave the customer feeling confident in their purchase, and get a better return policy. I feel totally cheated by you guys.

Because the staff is educated to fit the right shoe to what your foot does during your walking and running gait pattern. As Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants, we appreciate their knowledge. And as customers, we appreciate their friendliness and excellent customer service. American Running Company is truly the best store of its kind in the Tampa Bay area!
Heard good things about this local store, particularly that they offer great customer service, so instead of heading to the mall, I checked them out on a Sunday afternoon.Loved my experience! I called ahead of time to check on my preferred style and size, which they had in stock. Layla helped me with fitting - suggesting that I size up to allow for expansion as my feet swell during a run. She showed me styles for my pronation and toebox width, and Im very excited about my purchase. Will definitely come here, first, for my future running needs!
I have been shopping here since their Dunedin days and I have always had great experiences. The staff is very knowledgeable and very welcoming. They fixed my shin splints long ago with a good pair of shoes and I wouldn’t trust any other place in fitting me. This is the place to go if you’re into fitness
The young man who helped me looked to be about 15 years old. He did not seem to know anything about feet, fit, or shoes. He did not offer to measure my foot or do any of the fancy foot evaluation and fitting like the website claims they do. He just asked me what type of shoe I was looking for and I told him about the Asics I was currently wearing. He then said they dont carry my size and offered to order it. I dont like to order shoes that I have never tried on. The man behind the counter never offered any help and they acted like they couldnt wait for me to get out of the store. Which I did. No sale.
Went in without any knowledge of type of shoe needed or gait. The employee there was extremely knowledgeable and assisted my wife and I very well. We will be returning here for future needs.

I am new to the sport of running and was nervous going into this store because I am not a runner. I was so happy and relieved when the store manager Paulina took me in and showed me around. She took her time and showed me a few things that I would need to get started. I left feeling confident about my purchases and will definitely be back!
It’s a bit out of town but the staff were helpful and spent time letting me try on half a dozen different brands of running shoes until I had the perfect fit.The left inner heel lining of the Sacony runners I bought wore through after a month and they exchanged them without argument, so their after sales service is good

As an avid walker, 70 miles plus a week, I am so thankful to have found this store. Bought new shoes there a few months ago, went back in today with an issue regarding the inserts my podiatrist gave me and some discomfort. Instead of upselling, he showed me the way to tie them to adjust the fit. This is not a store just for the young runner, I am a 61 yr old walker, the store caters to each customer as if they were the only customer. Highly recommend.

ARC since moving has continued in their excellence. The store is stocked with what you need to get your run on. The staff is not always the best with people, but they are well meaning and attempt to best fit the shoe to the person/stride. I look forward to purchasing more shoes and running gear from American Running Company!

I highly recommend shopping here...I am a local massage therapist who works with a variety of clients, who have various types of issues including pain, postural/structural issues, neuro issues, accidents, and musculo-skeletal conditions. I have found that in some cases they are wearing shoes that are less than supportive for the conditions they have and for the activities they are engaging in. I encourage them to go to American Running for an evaluation and to purchase the proper shoe and accessories needed. I have had happy clients reporting back to me.
Back in July, I was fitted for a pair of running shoes - Saucony. It was the best thing I ever did for my workout and well-being. The owner helped me pick the right pair of shoes by watching my gait. I am still wearing them during my workouts, and they still look brand new. Before, I just pick whatever shoe was on sale at a chain store. My toes wore through the the shoes. Not now, my Saucony pair were worth the time and cost. Three months later, I am stil happy cutomer.
I dealt with the General Manager of the store when I purchased a pair of Newtons. The $175 shoe was different than most running shoes in that the sole has articulated lugs to help guide you onto the sweet spot on the ball of the foot, instead of landing heel first. When the manager sensed my hesitation, she said if I didnt like them, I could return them within seven days, with receipt and box, for an exchange. The Newtons were not for me, so I bought a $120 Brooks shoe and was given a gift certificate as the remainder of the credit instead of the cash as preferred. I felt this policy wasnt made clear at the time of purchase, but the manager held steadfast.I was also disappointed with the knowledge of the young staff. Two of the employees (one in training) told me I pronated, which Ive never been told, and limits one to style choices. I actually bought shoes on my second visit from the general manager who told me I dont pronate when I asked. Be aware.

Staff is SUPER FRIENDLY! Ive had problems with my feet for a while now and told Jennie about my chronic pains. She watched me walk and she knew exactly what I needed! This was my first visit here and two weeks later when I came back to the store, Jennie knew exactly who I was! (Impressive!)I thought the shoes were expensive at first. But after wearing them for two weeks now, Ive realized that you get what you pay for. If you dont want to spend $$ on good shoes, go to your local Wal-Mart for shoes. If you want the right shoe for your lifestyle, GO SEE JEANNIE!!!!(SHES THE BEST!)CJ is ok too. ; )
