What a rip-off! I just had a fairly large pole barn built and had a bunch of metal scraps from the siding and the roofing. Hundreds of pounds. It was clean, and it was just metal roofing/siding. It was enought to fill my 3/4 ton truck bed up and it was heavy! My reward: $6.45. .....wasnt even worth my gas over there.

We’re new to the area. Were told this recycling center takes everything but we called ahead to make sure. No one answers the phone, ever!! A week later I call again and finally after the recording kept prompting me to press 1, some female answers and was so rude! Acted as I was bothering her by calling. This place only takes metal apparently. Customer service isn’t their business so don’t expect it.

Current national scrap price for complete car is $95 a ton, brought in my car and got $33. They gave me 1/3 the price of national average. On the plus side the workers there are super helpful people, they just have terrible rates.

I have gone here twice since I recently moved closer. I have had a really good experience both times. Andrew and Ethan helped me unload my copper and brass without making me feel rushed or bad for having so much. The girl in the office was also really nice too. I will be coming back again in the future.

You can tell they really know there job well and enjoy working with the public. Thank you Clearfield recycling for employing such fine young men!

Clearfield Recycling has ripped us off for the last time. We have taken loads of scrap to these guys and get paid pennies compared to any other recycler from Salt Lake to Ogden! We live within minutes from Clearfield Recycling but its worth it to drive to blooms in Ogden or even make a trip to Salt Lake to turn in our scrap, as at least youll get paid for what your scrap is worth. Clearfield labels EVERYTHING light iron. No matter what youve got. They dont know whats what, they make up their prices. They tell you one thing but when you go to cash in your ticket its something completely different. The ladies in the office are nice but the guys rush through sorting and get you out as if youre such an inconvenience you them. Im done being screwed over by these guys and will go out of my way to take my scrap to a fair recycler before I EVER waste my time with these guys again! Their sign should read Pennies for scrap, NOT Cash for scrap! What a joke!

Theyre decent as a local place to dump your junk so you feel better about not putting it in a landfill. Beyond that dont expect much in the form of payment. I have no idea what kind of profit these guys make but it has to be ridiculous considering how little they pay people for going out of their way to bring them raw materials. Their prices are pretty out of touch if you do simple google search for the going rate of materials. In 30 seconds I found 5 different scrap yards paying 2x the amount they were paying per pound. That being said all of these places were a drive so these guys are capitalizing off being one of the few local scrap yards. Their pricing for an entire engine block was basically $13. What?..... If I stripped everything down to the raw aluminum block they would bump it up to their aluminum rate netting me about $40. Again what? I watched a guy bring in an entire car get paid $110. I honestly dont have any idea where their prices come from but they must be raking in profits, and if not, completely mismanaged cause I couldnt even find another scrap yard come close to their rates.EDIT: The owner has commented below detailing the process. Here is the point though, your processes are no different than any other scrap yard in the country. If you have so much overhead that your prices need to be 1/2 of what other yards are paying elsewhere, youre mismanaging your business. Particularly in areas with such a high population density.

These guys made it extremely difficult to get my truck traded in. They worked with my on the title but at every turn I was getting poorly treated by their manager Daniel. I came in to get payment after they had closed on Saturday because Daniel said he’d be there. The gentleman who I saw that came out very aggressive and I explained why I was there and that I didn’t realize they had closed early, later went on to say I was rude to him to the manager who called me the next morning to explain to a customer how I should be acting to their employees. At every turn I was treated poorly and unprofessionally. Would not work with these guys ever again.

No honesty no integrity, the worker that weights your things will get over you if you dont watch him. Do your homework of what your taking and what you should revive if not this people will burn you, we work really hard to collect and save so we can make extra cash, not for you guys to steal from the customers.

They have some straight geniuses workin there. Came in with 100 pounds of bright and shiny copper, the guy that weighed it told me it was number 1 copper because I had some angel hair stranded wire mixed in. I tried to explain to him that bright and shiny copper can just be melted down recycled and insulated and alloyed copper takes an extra step for purification before it can be recycled thats why bright and shiny is worth more. He laughed and said thats not how it works and said it has to do with how big the wires are then proceeded to count the individual strands....called another guy over to verify. I have been an electrician for 30 years. Half of that was in a copper mine. ive been recycling bright and shiny etc. for just as long. When I started to put my wire back in my car because I was going to go somewhere else, they told me I couldnt go anywhere else.... somebody please get this company some helmets for their employees.

Dont do it as with most deals involving a easy way to scam money this place is no exception mind you I scrap a lot Im in automotive line of work and know prices I know a honest shop that you send pic to them they give you a honest price I check around I went to clearfield and asked if they would be abl to price two cats you bet so they say $3 apeace knowing they are worth $160 at least lowest offer so far I said no way so what they are doing is buying them for 2 and 3 each and turning a profit of hundreds on them you get screwed and I am not talking shaving alttile weight if I was you stay away its worth it to drive as far as needed to get a right price this isnt including they mark down I got on all my other metal they take it all down to a cheaper price
