Nice ace with helpful staff that you can actually find when you have a question. Try doing that at home Depot and tell me what happens lol. Not only do they have staff but the staff are friendly and they have knowledge theyre willing to share. Very good local hardware store that is being built onto in the ever expanding cool city of clawson. Looks like theyre adding on a level to accommodate apartments. Should be very cool!

The only store you the size of your living room where you can wander around for 30 minutes looking for something. Prices are double anywhere else. But hey, if you need sth quick and find s/b to point you to where it is, then its worth the trip.

This is MY Ace Hardware. I have been shopping here FOREVER. When I have something I need to get done, I can ALWAYS count on the manager and workers in THIS STORE to give me quick, accurate, courteous and professional support for whatever I need to accomplish around my home. Lately, with this pandemic, I have been particularly impressed and grateful to these individuals. I am a senior citizen and work for a school in the special ed department. I have been working from home trying to support my class with innovative learning and morale boosting. The manger here (Jeff) has gone out of his way twice now during COVID to help me put together and purchase items for projects to teach and uplift my students. Jeff worked quickly with me, both in the store and over the phone, to brainstorm on solutions to implement my ideas. He suggested items I needed, put my purchase together and got me in and out of the store as safely and easily as possible. He has gone out of his way to be kind, flexible and supportive. I could not ASK for better service and consideration. Ive always been a loyal customer to this store, but now want to advertise for them......YOU NEED to try this store out. They are GREAT to deal with!

Always never nice and helpful

This is one of the few physical stores Ill get up and drive to instead of lazily searching for the first 5 star Amazon product with Prime shipping. The staff here knows something about everything and its helped me out on at least 10 different occasions.

Ace really is the helpful place. I love the easy in and easy out because everything is so easy to find. I pay slightly more than HD but its worth it for the convenience & I really like the selection. I can tell they really care about their customers & its nice to have smaller stores like this still around. I hope they dont go away anytime soon its just hard to tell with all the big box stores taking all the business but at the same time I end up in those stores way longer than I should be.

Needed an obscure shower part. They did not have it, but the employee at least made me laugh when she had no idea what I was talking about.

I love this store. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Its usually a simple in and out trip.

We come here a lot. Pop in and grab stuff we need kind of place. Staff has always been nice and the store is laid out well. Parking lot is great. Next to Noble fish, I record store and Detroit burgers.

Ive never left the store without what I went there for and customer service is always great.The only bad thing is the construction of the apartments upstairs means everything is always moving around. Itll probably be worth it in a year or two when they are done with the expansion.

Have been going here regularly since moving to area just over a year ago. Always nice staff to help you out. Prefer going here over big box DIY stores. Recently had all my screens fixed here. Good price, quick turn-around, quality work.

I think this is a great little local hardware store. The people that work here have always been helpful. For how small the store is the selection is pretty large. They also cut keys and are a distributor of Yeti products.

Its like how hardware stores used to be like. Employees go out of their way to help you and look for things for you and will hold them even if youre calling in over the phone. Its very pleasant to shop there!

The manager or whatever the guy is that is always there always asks if he can help....but he can...and does. I like this place better than home depot for quick hardware needs. They have a wide selection of almost everything you could need to fix something broken in your home. Top notch.

I went to Ace Hardware in Clawson today with my girlfriend and we are doing some house work because we live in the area but when we got to the door of the store they told me only one of us could enter the store and the other stay out. All while they continue to let other people behind me in. Their excuse was to “minimize foot traffic” but what is the difference of letting the 5 others behind me go in but She has to stay outside while I shop the entire time. Very disappointed and angry with this sad excuse they hold here. Wont be coming back, do yourself a favor and save yourself time too

One of my favorite things about moving to the Clawson area is the small town feel of downtown Clawson, and this store is no different. They have a great selection of products here but the reason I like shopping here is the staff. Its nice to see familiar faces and workers actually acknowledging you when you walk in. 99% of the time when I go to big box stores I waste most of my time trying to find someone to ask from help. When you shop here youre always greated by someone asking you how youre doing and if you need help finding anything.

Came in for license plate screws but I didnt know what size I needed. When I asked, an employee grabbed a box and came out to my car with me to try different screws until he found the right ones, then screwed my license plate on for me. Very helpful staff.

This used to be my favorite place to go. Ive been coming here since I was a kid, when it was ACO. Im so disappointed after today that I wont be returning. As much as I dont like supporting big stores, Ill be using Home Depot exclusively from now on.Today I came in for paint. I was set to buy 4 gallons. I picked up some swatches yesterday, took them home (about 50 of them) knowing what I wanted ahead of time and got the perfect colors, just the wrong brand. So I came back in today to color match with Valspar. Was almost done color matching (found perfect matches to ALL of my colors) when Paint Guy comes up and mansplains to me about checking the colors against my walls at home. I explained that I did, he rolls his eyes and walks away. I go to check paint prices, and overhear him on the next isle complaining to a co-worker about me, and how disappointed Im going to be for not taking them home first. Not only am I an experienced painter, but I also have quite a bit of common sense. I wasnt going to blindly come in and buy paint in the hopes of returning it when I didnt like it.My husband had the same experience with the same guy last week when he went in to get a socket (second one that day). The guy asked if he could help my husband find anything and my husband explained that he knew exactly where they were. The guy got an attitude, and let him know that he would have made his life so much easier had he let him help. But whatever, find it yourself. Absolutely obnoxious.As convenient as this store is, and for how often we go there, its disappointing to know that we will have to drive far just to have a better experience. You guys lost a lot of business today, and for the future.

Previously had good service. Went there today to look at Stihl products and replacement bar for my chainsaw. Waited 10 minutes for someone to help me. Had time to look up online the items I needed and found another place to get them from. Walked out of the store still with no one checking to see what I needed or if i needed help.

Its your typical hardware store as usual if you have a decent size truck youll have a hard time parking but staff was friendly

Very helpful staff, but I went there hoping to find a furnace igniter. It was a long shot that didnt pan out. Went to a nearby Graingers per the employees suggestion, where I found what I needed.

Prices are higher than these gigantic hardware stores like Home Depot but at least youre not stuck in there for a half hour to an hour or trying to look for what youre looking for
