WOW! I could say the place was super clean and the atmosphere was exceptional comfort cafe but, the real story is how good the food was. I had the grilled chicken, green beans and rice. It has to be stated separately: the chicken was perfectly cooked and I do mean perfection. I am a picky green bean connoisseur and usually prefer softer over crunchy, these beans were were the best. Now for the rice I really don’t know how to explain but, I didn’t know rice could be cooked so tender but, not sticky. I had no idea rice could be so good. I will eat at the Red Balloon Cafe anytime I’m in the area.

The Houston City Beat Foodie Life Show went out to experience the culinary creations at Red Balloon Cafe and we have to report - pure enjoyment! We ordered the chicken salad with cilantro dressing and the cheeseburger with bacon. Both were excellent. We also had a tasting of two bisques and the butterfly shrimp.Words just can’t describe! The Chef has done an excellent job and Houston City Beat gives it two Heat all the way. It was everything we were expecting and more!Update: our most recent experience:

What a complete surprise! Eric, the owner/ chef, and his staff, were unbelievably inviting and personal. He offered us free samples of the his shrimp bisque, poblano pepper soup and my wife, who isnt a soup person, purchased a bowl to go, obviously.. The catfish and shrimp platter was delicious, not oily and heavy, very light and crisp, the way it should be. My hamburger was solid as well. Nice outside patio if you feel like dining al fresco. Definitely coming back.

Good food and service.Rather limited menu. But the fried shrimp were especially delicious! If you get takeout thats all you need! I would definitely order that again if I happen to be in the area.Patio not pleasant due to being so close to the feeder and freeway. Lack of ambiance inside.Maybe music and TV would help some.

Best Shrimp Bisque Ive EVER had and the Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger was equally delicious! First visited on Tuesday for a late lunch. The chef warmly greeted myself and a gentleman walking in after me. We were generously offered samples of Shrimp Bisque and Poblano Soup, which immediately sold me on the Shrimp Bisque. It looked like a small serving, but it was extremely filling so I ate half for dinner. Im not a fan of poblano peppers, in general, but I still enjoyed it!Returned Wednesday for the Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger. The thick patty was cooked to perfection, no pink and not dry. The vegetables looked and tasted fresh. The thick cut fries had just the right amount of Cajun seasoning and were fried perfectly, not soggy, not burnt, just right.The cafe is brand new, therefore; the menu is not set in stone yet, hence the crossed out items on the photo. The owner mentioned adding salads and a childrens menu. Regardless of future updates, this place is a gem!! Looking forward to cooler weather to enjoy the large patio with my colleagues 💛

I cant say enough GREAT things about this place! OH-MY-GAWD!!! The food is absolutely delicious!!! EVERYTHING is so FRESH!!! The catfish was BEYOND outstanding. Mom loved the juicy chicken breast. The brownie w raspberry sauce is devine! Oh, and the samples of soup and margarits🥳🥳🥳PLEASE help support this neighborhood business! Its sooo worth the visit. I tried this restaurant yesterday along with a few coworkers. The owner was incredibly nice. We sampled the delicious poblano soup and shrimp bisque. We all liked it so much we ended up getting a cup of soup and the chicken tenders with fries. It was all so so good! You must check this place out!! *food was so good I devoured it before snapping a picture*

Amazing food, service and hospitality! I was bummed when the Clay location closed and was super excited to see them hang their shingle again on the Beltway. Went for lunch and wasn’t looking for a huge meal. Started off by trying samples of shrimp bisque and poblano soup…both off the charts. Eric (owner/chef) was sampling a chicken fried steak and offered for me to join him at the table. Highly recommend it. By the time i was ready to order, i went with the grilled chicken, rice pilaf and green beans. Nailed it again. Thanks Eric and team for a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back…

Yum! Creamed potatoes are awesome. Chicken tenders are light and crispy. I recommend the cilantro dressing as the dipping sauce.

We live in the neighborhood so we had to check it out and try this place. We went on a Friday night. The food was excellent, we ordered the grilled catfish, rice & veggies, the tilapia with rice & veggies, a grilled chicken salad and bbq chicken breast sandwich & fries, the family enjoyed it and the outside patio is very inviting. Will definitely be back, especially with cooler weather, we cant wait to eat the soup they offered us, its excellent!

One of the best little hidden in plain sight eateries off the beltway 8 and Hammerly. Very good food and reasonable prices. The owner/ chef Eric is very friendly and chats with everyone. I highly recommend this place.

The fish, shrimp & cream potatoes were delicious!! I ate there for lunch but also ordered take out. I was disappointed because they left out my desert, my brownie, in my to go order. ☹ Perhaps they should put a receipt on the bag, of the take out orders, so you could verify your order is correct.🤷‍♀️

We decided to try Red Balloon out after seeing such great reviews and I can definitely say they did not disappoint! Everything was fresh, delicious and served beautifully plated. Dont be fooled by the casual decor...the food (most important part) is 10 stars! The fried shrimp was amazing and my wife is very picky (her fave is Pappadeauxs) and we have to say these shrimp perfectly cooked topped the best out there. The fish special was also cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. Poblano soup was also delicious. Another positive note...we love supporting small businesses and the young lady who helped us couldnt have been more professional and delightful. We will be back when we are in this area again for sure. In our opinion, this is what we need in every neighborhood! Thanks Red Balloon for all your attention to every detail. We appreciate it!!

Some of the best chicken fried chicken weve had, it really stands out. The creamed potatoes were delicious, quite a surprise, not the run of the mill mashed potatoes. Comfortable restaurant, nonpretentious setting with a gorgeous deck. The cream of poblano soup was full of roasted peppers and creamy chunks of avocado and crispy tortilla strips. Really looking forward to returning.

While the food was good, it was very disappointing to find the restaurant had no highchair for our 15 month old AFTER ordering dine in. I hope this is remedied in the future as Spring Branch is full of young families. We wont be returning nor ordering to go since the business has no problem alienating a large customer base.

Spring Branch is so fortunate to be home to the Red Balloon Cafe.Outstanding menu selections from 44 Farms beef 1/2 pound Hamburgers to Gulf Fried Shrimp and hand breaded Chicken tender combo. Plus Chef Erics signature Pablano soup and Shrimp bisque that everyone must try a taste. Simply incredible food.

My wife had a sample of the homemade Poblano soup and stated it was Delicious. I ordered the large chicken fried steak and my wife had cream chicken parmesan both looked good and delicious

Chef Grbic and his team once again deliver. Prime rib was excellent.

Came here a few weeks ago and got fried chicken (dry and bland) with a side of fries (also incredibly bland).

First time here since reopening. Eric the owner knows what he is doing. My wife had chicken tender plate which they made fresh. Chicken was juicy and hot honey mustardis made in house. I hade the shrimp bisque that was very creamy and goes toe to toe with Fishermans Warf in Galveston. And we also got the chicken and shrimp combo. Also very hot and made to order. Restaurant was very clean and the owner him self came and made sure we were ok and food was to par. Cant wait to see what he comes up with next. Highly recommend Red Balloon Cafe.
