Not bad. The installer was a really nice dude. The company that installed the main door added an extension to the threshold (not Defender). The door that was delivered would not have fit. The installer removed the threshold extension and the storm door fit perfectly. A 4 star from me is like a 5 star from most. I saw some negative reviews but my experience was great. I wasnt in a hurry though. Also, the lady in the office was very nice over the phone. Thanks guys.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my experience with Defender. From the first call to the last call everyone in the office was professional & helpful. I love my new steel security door. The installer was a sweetheart.. I didn’t mind the wait because I have a vintage door (Round Top) & I knew it would be a wait prior to purchasing.. Defender also beat out the other competitors…

Very happy with our screen door installation. The installer was super nice. The only thing is I wish he would have swept off the stoop and porch a bit as there were metal fragments left behind. Other than that, great job!

My experience began in May and I was concerned. The usual ability to navigate service/product providers seemed to be a bit difficult.Well dahhhhh! The worst period of time in the USA to expect perfection on every point is during this pandemic.I spoke to Pam, Robert and their assurances were good. Then, my door came in. It was installed by JIM and let me tell you, this man wrapped up Defender Door in a cloak of confidence....He is an AMAZING representative of this company.So, its easy to write complaints when your miles away from the business and your herculean muscles are flexing on the keyboard.Give this company a chance, remember to be kind, add a bit of understanding, know whats going on in the world (ie. business supply chain issues) and have JIM install your product!!!!

I purchased a storm door about 2 weeks ago and when installation day came I saw this older gentlemen pull up and I was like OMG this man needs help so I called my husband to come help him. But he refused the help. However, looks can be deceiving!!! This man move better than my husband he was so professional and quick and very knowledgeable about what he was doing. I was impressed with him and I told him that I want him to install my next door.

I would not recommend this company. Sale person and pitch was excellent but the actual services was a nightmare. Paid top dollar for 2 storm doors to be installed and a service person showed up that appeared to be 60-70 years old. Ruin my door and my porch with some type of black spray paint. Was very confused why he was spraying black paint when my doors were suppose to be brand new. I was very concern for the worker as he appeared to struggle going up and down the stairs with doors and other equipment. To make matters worst excess nail and wood cuttings was left on my property from the installation. When I called to complain a female manager was very rude and board line disrespectful. She was more concern with her opinion of the elderly worker then that of mine which was the paying customer. Very bad experience; paid over 1500 dollars and I’m still had to pay someone to come out and fix what they messed up as well as what they were paid to do.

In my opinion 5 stars are not enough for the service I received from Defender. Dealing with Robert was an extreme pleasure. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and trust worthy. I felt very comfortable throughout the entire process. Not only did I get the best price from Defender compared to numerous places I looked into, my door was in stock, delivered and installed within a week!! They won themselves a customer for life.

These guys are the absolute best in the business. I have used them for every service that they have to offer on multiple occasions. I have even recommended them to my mother. My whole family uses Defender whenever we need work done. I want to say that it surprises me that they have so little reviews on here, but to be honest it doesnt. The reason being is they act and treat their customers the old school way. They are very connected with their clients on a personal level and dont push people to their website for service. If you are anything like me and want to pay people who are genuinely good people and do good work, then Defender is the way to go. You will not be disappointed if you chose this company. Special shout out to Bob Bianco for being the most standup business owner I have ever encountered. Make sure you take the time to talk to him if you get the chance. He has an incredible story.

It takes a while to get the door so just keep that in mind. Covid has slowed down production and installation. I am very happy with the door and their service.

It amazes me that these people are still in business I will never do business with them again they made me wait an entire year for custom stair railings and I had to threaten to sue them to get my money back finally after a year whatever you do dont trust these people maybe their other store with a different manager is better I doubt it but not the one on 35th Street run forest run!!!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! They were scheduled to fix my grandfathers picture window for weeks. They kept rescheduling. Then finally we got another appointment for 7am ... didn’t hear from them until 9am that they weren’t able to come! What company doesn’t want money? Management needs to be contacted and this business needs new employees. It’s freezing cold outside and we’ve been trying to get this window fixed by them for WEEKS! Unprofessional and would not recommend this business to anyone!

I waited over 3 months for a security door, the sales man BOB just lies I feel bad for the owner he tried his best. I wanted a American made product but this place cant get it right...I never got my door!!

Worst company to do business with. They are liars, will quickly take your money and install your doors next year if not never. Oh and don’t even bother asking for a refund, the owner and scum of the earth owner, ROBERT BIANCO, will lie through his teeth no problem. Shameful company, shameful owner. If you have given this company and money talk with your bank to get it back.

My experience was the best possible, perfect I dare say. Because of the history of reviews I was hesitant, so ordered only the first of four desired security storm doors. The door apparently was in stock and was installed in less than a week, and is beyond my expectations. I had purchased a door from this company in the 1980s and loved the product then, was looking last year but the reviews put me off. I reconsidered and am glad I did. My experiences with Pam on initial inquiry, with Robert in the sales call and selection of the product, and with Jim the installer (who told me he doesnt work Mondays when I said there would be a follow on order) were all top rate. I dont dispute that others had unfortunate experiences, and dont know the circumstance thereof, I just know I had an extraordinarily good experience. And there is nothing like a steel door as opposed to inexpensive vinyl or aluminum. I am placing the follow on order and will follow up with another review.

Had to file a BBB complaint to get my moms money back. At the time of filing, they had 31 BBB complaints filed.

I really regret not following up on research - was told by someone who had ONE good experience to use this mob.I paid for the doors on June 13, 2018 which I was told will take around 30 days. Since then I have had multiple delays, which all appear to be delay tactics:- I was told the shop typically wont switch paint in the machine until they receive enough orders to clean out the black base paint- After that delay, the next one was because the glass tempering needs time to be completed, which is baffling because the glass doesnt need to be painted not sure why this process couldnt be completed on its own- Lastly, the installation contractor doesnt work Mondays and because of that the next available time is 3 weeks away???So 3 weeks later, the installers didnt call to confirm, havent turned up either today.I am going to lodge a complaint with Cook County for sure.Edit: our door was finally installed on Oct 11, 4 months after payment was initiated. The quality is great, but the post-sale debacle and lead time were very poor.

This is the worst company you possibly do business with, if you actually expect them to finish the job. Sure theyll come and install the doors and theyre nice, but dont ask for anything after that. Total incompetence in the front office from their staff which seemingly cant do anything more than answer the phone. I had doors installed at my home on the south side of Chicago and when it came time to paint them (as I paid for, and they said they would gladly do), the company has been been full of BS every since. First its the weather, as if we havent had a sunny day in Chicago in OVER A YEAR since the installation, next up is their crews dont work on Mondays. Yet the owner, yes the OWNER called me and assured me they would, but again nothing happened. Totally incompetence and rip off company. Go somewhere else if you need this type of work done.

DO NOT ORDER DOORS, I ordered doors the end of Feb this is May 30th still no doors, I was schedule a installation date for May 16th got a call from Pam saying the truck broke down on route to them and she will call me with another delivery day she never called, I was given a deliver date for May 24th after calling them back several times. so May 23 I had not received a phone call from anyone confirming, so I called the office but they were closed for the day, I then searched through my caller ID for the number for the salesman that called me to set up the delivery date. first no answer then he returned the call and when I told him what it was for he said we had a bad connection and he would call me right back, of course no call. I called the office the next morning and spoke with Pam to ask about the delivery she stated that I was not on the the schedule and could not give me any delivery date, and I would get a call once someone from the installation team gets in, of course no call again, I called the cell phone # and spoke with the salesman again he said he thought the delivery was for the next day and he would check once in the office, this time he did call me back only to tell me that they were sent the wrong doors and that he was very sorry and would proceed however I wanted and if I still wanted the doors it would take another week or so, I asked for my 1,000 deposit back and he agreed but I would have to wait until Tuesday the 29th because that was the only day the accountants were in the office however he couldnt promise because of the holiday and all on Monday but I would get a call, well no call so I called and spoke with Pam to Inquire about my refund and she said that she would have to check the folder and give me a call back, no call, I called back the next day and John answered the phone he said that he would let Pam know I called and she will call me back, no call back from her, called back and and waited until Pam spoke with me she said that I was suppose to get a call from Mr. Robert Bianco I asked when was he in the office the response was we are a home improvement company the are in and and out. still waiting for my refund.

The worst place to order your door from! Extremely unprofesional. I placed the call since January and they showed up half an hour later to sign the contract and pay up front the full amount in cash. However, now its been 14 weeks since and they have still not installed my door that they promised would take no longer than 6 - 8 weeks. When I call to complain they promise to call back but never end up calling back. I have to constantly call them back just to get an update. They were quick to come pick up the cash but afterwards they will neglect you. Do not shop here, you will be dissatisfied with their lack of profesionalism!
