Came here to buy some inexpensive hiking boots for my daughter. Kids grow out of shoes so fast & I didnt want to go to REI & spend a lot on hiking boots that she will just grow out of so quick. I was able to find some Bear Paw boots that fit great & were a reasonable price. Id come back for future purchases.

This place is not very organized like the other Sports Stores around. No fancy golf department with $1000 set of Ping golf clubs. The aisles are crowded and merchandise is stacked high and in some cases hard to reach. But they do have very good deals on all kinds of stuff from shoes, tents, golf stuff and baseball gear. We have always ended up buying here after shopping every where else. Perhaps I like the chaos but I do enjoy shopping here. The staff is always very friendly and never flinches when I ask for a price of something that requires a ladder to get. Never been disappointed here a definite must stop for sports fans.

My first visit to this store. The store is really crowded with merchandise Especially Clothing. There are so many clothing racks on the sales floor it’s very difficult to maneuver through and forget trying to push the shopping cart through. However customer service in the shoe department was excellent they had what I came for.

Truley disappointed to get shoes for family and was unable to get help for longer than 15 seconds !! Other customers as well diverting the attention of the staff and it was really a horrible time just to get shoes, will never put ourselves in that situation again , ps only 2 seats to try on shoes ? The store had some fishing items that werent at Walmart. The aisles are not well lit for the fishing display. Staff was nice and able to point out the display area. The checkout was prompt.

I love Big 5 in Chula Vista, the store is small but they have a lot of everything you could want for your active lifestyle.Only complaint, is Karina cashier, was rude, not helpful, and behaved as if she couldnt be bothered. She should not be on the register, she should be in the back tracking inventory, because she is not a friendly face representing your store. Other than that the store is great!

My sister was looking for new work boots and the gentleman was very helpful and did not make faces when she asked for 2 differant sizes then tried both mens and womens. He was just as helpful when she tried on regular tennis shoes. She bought 2 pair of shoes kudos to shoe guy. I was purchasing a bean bag game board (corn hole game) and I was unable to carry it to the front and the same shoe guy not only brought it to the checkout counter, he also carried it to the car!. That was great for us. We were also able to use online coupons without a waiting period, so we were able to use 10%off sale item and 20% off regular price, what a nice break for us. Thank you Big 5

I just wish they carry better quality items. Everything is cheap because is cheaply made. Over the years they keep everything cheap by lowering the quality more and more. However, if you are in a budget, then this place will work great for you.

Store is way too crowded. Cannot walk around the racks, theyre too close together.. Went looking for cross training shoes in the specified location and all shoes were disorganized. Found work boots, casual shoes in the cross training section... when I asked for them they said they didnt have much of a selection. Very unorganized store.

The customer service was terrible! There were two reps and either a manager or the owner (I couldnt tell). All three were unbelievably rude! Acted completely put out and aggravated when I asked questions. I asked for four sleeping bags pointing to the display model which was Gray. The manager brought up blue ones and when I asked for the Gray, he acted super irritated! One girl actually rolled her eyes and sighed! Ill never go back there!

The store is far too small for their inventory and the staff is lazy. I often go to this store (avg. once a month) now that there is no other choice, at least until Dicks opens, and will find 2 or more employees in the checkout cage but only one checkout lane is open. Inevitably only one person will actually be running a cash register and the customer check out lines will stack up. The non-busy employees will be happy to just keep talking to one another and will not open a lane in order to speed along the customer flow.Ive worked retail before and know that letting people just stand in long lines is bad for business when you have employees standing around; doing nothing else. This has happened numerous times over the last few months and is a clear sign of poor management.It happened the other day that there were 3 employees in the checkout cage and a line of people that ran at least 10 people deep. When I went to the open lane where there were 2 employees available for checkout I was directed to the very long wait time lane and the girl that should have been checking out customers just went back to chatting with her friend co-worker. At first I couldnt tell how long the wait line over there was because there is so much junk everywhere that a person can hardly move in the store without bumping into something... So I just left the expensive stuff that I was going to buy and left the store. Ive given the benefit of the doubt too many times at this store and am done with Big5. Ill never buy from Big5 again.

Return Policy really such no thanks to an unfair manager. I spent s lot of money here the other day and bought a pair or shoes. I wear them once and my feet were killing me so I came today to return them and they now say I cant return them because I didnt have a box to go with it not even store credit. Other shoe stores have taken them before no problem. I now have a new pair of shoes that are now useless to me and Id hate for it to go to waste. Guys please be aware and buy at your own risk. By the way the manager herself was way overconfident and totally blew me off at the end by saying sorry you cant return them because you do not have the box that goes with it but you are more than welcome to buy yourself a brand new pair of shoes right back there as if I was trying to scam them now Ive ever felt so violated from such a respected business that I no longer respect.

The salesman who appeared quite Young, was not really very helpful. I am disabled and it is hard for me to reach shoes. he stood in the back of the store talking to another scale about how much longer they had before it was time to go. I was very disappointed they no longer have their discount table. The good part was at the checkout counter the young lady who checked us out was very friendly and helpful. She answered questions that the salesman appear to be too busy to bother with.
