This review comes after a second visit to this place. 2 years ago, I took my Jeep to a place where it failed but since it was a Test Only place they were not able to make the necessary repairs so I was referred to B&J. From the moment I pulled up I was greeted by the owner with a great attitude and the prices were reasonable. They made the repairs needed to pass the Smog Test so I was very please. Now that my car was due for another smog test, I decided to go back and my experience was just as pleasant. Not only the owners but the staff was also very helpful, maybe not as friendly and pleasant but very efficient and helpful. Towards the end I interacted with the owner to pay and get paperwork and he did not disappoint, always with a smile and a great attitude. I am not surprised this business is always busy. Dont think about it twice, your car will be in good hands at B&J.

I 100% recommend this shop for emissions testing and smog testing for certification. I approached this place in a very vulnerable place in my life. The owner went above and beyond professionally and he was able to monitor if I would actually pass before charging me. After the service was completed (fastest I’ve ever been smog certified with certificate in hand) I went to pay and the owner empathetically said, “this is my way of helping you”. Very kind! The service was very quick. The owner was very friendly but more of a salesman. I needed help from a Star smog station first of all. Second, when I failed my smog check, the owner suggested I apply for money from the Dept. Of Transportation which helps with passing the smog check. I was told $1200.00 would be the amount awarded if approved . What I did not like was his suggestion bring 2 to 300.00 more because the 1200 was not going to cover all the repairs. The DOT did say they would cover 80% and if the total was over 1200 I was responsible for 20%. Thats my story In a nutshell.

My experience went as followed:I parked my carThey greeted me and gave me the forms to fill out.10 min passed.They were done, I payed $38 for my 2003 Audi A4 and I got my smog check paperwork.That’s it simple sweet and fast.Thank you for being super fast and efficient. This is the best place in the world, came here to get a smog test for my truck and I was planning to go to DMV to register it here in California and while I was Here at B & J auto repair I found out that they have an registration service here in the next office called Chula Vista Auto Registration Service. I was so surprised that they do out of state registration and even VIN verification. That saved me about 5 hours that I would have waited in line at the DMV and on top of that they are the nicest people I ever met. Than you Jesse for all your help and I will be back in a few months for a brake job and my oil change.

Fast and prompt service. I called around 11:30am and asked when would be the best time to come in. I was told either morning or mid-afternoon (not around lunch time) was probably best , first come first serve. I called at 2:30pm and was told there was no wait to be seen. I drove right over and my car was immediately taken in by the tech. Front desk was pleasant. Price was reasonable ($38, 29.99 + 8 for the certificate). I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. This was a no-frills place (4 seats, in front of a fan), but it was clean. Much less painful than some other smog checks I have been to!

Been coming here for about 2 years now since I moved to Chula Vista. Of all mechanics Ive been to these guys are the realest - especially Jessie the owner. Hell be completely straight with you about whats wrong with your car, give you a quite right away, and give you options. Hell work with you on your budget and provide discount after discount if he can fit one or more in there. He doesnt try to sell things unnecessarily either. And if youre shopping for a car, hes got plenty of very nice ones on the lot ready for purchase. I wish I went to him to buy my current car instead of going somewhere else, but I digress. I like coming to this place with peace of mine. They are honest and do the best they can do to give you a good price. I came here to get my timing belts changed and water pump. Also turns out one of my tires had a nail in it and my tires where in need to be replaced. Jesse hooked me up with a tire shop down the street and they where able to give me a great deal on all 4 tires. they go the extra mile to make there customers happy.

I am very satisfied with the smog check service my car got done here. I get most of my services done in LA. After reading other reviews on Yelp and Google, I decided to walk-in. Thats correct, I did not make an appointment. I just walked in and was able to get my car checked out.When I arrived, I was greeted immediately by Issa and asked to wait while they finished with another customer. While I waited, another customer got his car back and was surprised his smog test took less than the time he was quoted. I was in and out within 20 minutes and thats just because they got a bit busier after I arrived. My car passed the smog test and I was very happy I chose B&J Auto Repair.Super nice guys, excellent price, and great customer service. I will definitely be back when I need my car to get smog tested in the future.

My car broke down right down the street from B & J Auto Repair on the way home, and I had to tow it to a shop, and this was the closest one. I immediately thought to myself “great, I have to go into some shop I don’t know, they’ll probably take advantage of my emergency and charge me through the roof.” But nope, to my surprise they’re price was very fair and they were able to fix my car it needed an alternator and while I was there I had them replace my front brake pads because my brakes where making a squeaky sound . They were very nice here and fixed the issue with my car with no lingering problems. I trust and recommend this shop, they were very good.

My 1986 Ford Pickup needed to be smog certified by a Star Station. Yikes! Was I worried!! I thought I would have to retire my big old truck and turn it in for 1,000 bucks. Jessie, the owner and sales person, explained all my options before hand in case I didnt pass. I passed the emissions portion but needed to replace a couple hoses and gas cap. After that I passed with flying colors. His prices are reasonable and he made the experience enjoyable. With over 17 years in business, he definitely knows his stuff! Id consider buying a used car from him.

I came in with the anticipation this was going to take at least an hour. By the time I got checked in they had already started to work on my car, i walked out for a few minutes next thing you know theyre calling me back in; I figured there was something wrong with my car or I had forgot to sign some paperwork. Best place to get your smog done in Chula Vista. Great customer service by Jessie and the whole staff. Greeted at your car after you park. Time is taken to explain the process and rundown of the fees. I parked and left happy within 15 minutes. A+ rating and lets just say I will be getting my smog done her everytime!

B&J Auto s really great, they really get the job done right. I have used this company a couple times over the last year, between my old car and my wife’s old car we always have new issues popping up. Whether it was a simple check engine light or something that was a serious need for replacement, this company took care of everything we have run into and have kept our raggedy old cars on the road. When we do get new cars, we will most definitely continue to bring those in whenever we experience an issue. Recommended!

I went here March 11 on a Saturday morning to get a smog check. I did go here two years ago for my last smog check and the service was great once again. I believe Jesse was the one that greeted me as I approached their office. Quick and friendly service. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. I lost the letter for my smog notification from the DMV but Jesse assured it wasnt a problem. What I like is that they are a STAR certified station and the cost is very reasonable. By midnight my smog test information was sent to the DMV and I was able to pay for my registration online. Thanks again.UPDATE: Visited 1/20 to smog a car I am selling and was in and out quickly. Took my sisters SUV for her biennial right after. Customer service was great once again.

Went to B&J Auto Repair for the first time and will definitely return. I took my vehicle in for a brake service/inspection convinced that Id end up having to pay for new break pads. After a quick inspection, Jesse was honest with me and said everything was fine. He could have charged me something ridiculous but instead sent me on my way with a smile.
