This is my favorite local grocery store. They have a excellent selection of items. The store is always very clean, organized and the staff is friendly. Wonderful bakery, deli, butcher, flower shop etc. I love their hot soup, they usually have 3-4 different kinds. Their pizza is delicious and made fresh. Great produce with plenty of organic options. I but seafood here all the time because its fresh, healthy and a good price. Great service. Great store.

The store was immaculate first off! Displays looked so good right when you walk in! Secondly the Manager Jim went out of his way to assist me after I’d been through a hell of a day to say the least and his actions lead me to having the day end so much better!! And to the lovely lady who helped me at the counter Tabarek you were so nice and helpful I really appreciate the service you guys showed me yesterday!! Thank you again!

Great supermarket. Good competitor to Stop & Shop. Big Y has a lot of BOGO sales and who doesnt like that? I am a big fan of the take-home meals that are made fresh inside the store. If you havent tried their pizza slices I suggest you fix that as soon as possible. This particular location is always well stocked and very clean.

Went today to get a cake and there was a customer being allowed to shop maskless which made me feel very unsafe. The pandemic has been going on for over a year if customers don’t want to wear masks they have plenty of other options other than shopping in store. Staff did not seem to care that the customer was putting themselves and others at risk for not following a simple rule. Employees are required to wear masks for hours on end I am not sure why the customer couldn’t wear one for 20-30 minutes. Big Y doesn’t value our safety if they can’t enforce a simple rule.

Love going here for the specials and prices are very good

Good selection of items, especially fresh food. Not a great selection of sugar free or diabetic friendly items, though. Slightly pricier than some other stores for prepackaged goods.

I rarely go to Big-Y but when I do its generally a pleasant visit. Except for my most recent visit. I only bought some chicken and a gift card. Couldnt self checkout due to purchasing gift card. I waited in the regular line. When it was my turn I was asked to step out of line because I needed a Big-Y membership card to purchase gift cards. Easy fix: I walked over to customer service applied for one. That took longer than I would have liked but I signed up for (digital) card and got back in regular line to buy my gift card. I was asked if I was a member. I replied I am!. I was asked to swipe my member card. I said I dont have a card to swipe. Its digital?!? The clerk then says ...oh its ok you dont need one?!?! ...F*** YOU BIG-Y!!

They had everything I couldnt get at the other store, I left Big Y very happy. My granddaughter asked me why I was buying so much since I had just shopped.

I really wanted to give this review four or five stars; since I have had many years of great experiences here. However, I have noticed over the past couple years, that things are slowly slipping, causing me to shop elsewhere, more often. This is a very clean store! It is obvious upon entering, that management takes pride in the condition of the property! The place is sparkling clean, and I like that! I will also say, that the majority of the staff is very friendly and helpful. The one exception, being the meat department, where I am met with lots of “attitude” whenever I have a question or request, and I don’t appreciate it, AT ALL (- 1 star)! The store manager here is VERY friendly, and her own personal customer service skills are truly extraordinary! I’m hoping some of that starts rubbing off on the meat department staff! Big Y sales promotions lately, are terrible! I realize that this is more reflective of the company as a whole, and may be more of a corporate issue, than an issue about this particular location, but since this is the location I frequent the most, I can’t ignore it! The span of time, between sales on certain products seems to be increasing, sometimes you have to wait four or five weeks before items go on sale again, when that gap used to be much shorter! This is due to their new “lower pricing” strategy, I’m sure! The issue is, that the “lower price” on certain items, is not nearly as low as the sale price of that item, when it finally does go on sale. So, by widening the span between an item going on sale, they’ve got you buying it at a higher price, more often, despite touting their “lower price savings”. Also, entire categories of food, such as cheeses or sour cream, or tuna, or ketchup, etc., have weeks where not one brand is on sale! In the past, they would have at least one, maybe two brands within a food category on sale. Example: if Starkist Tuna wasn’t on sale that week, Bumble Bee or Big Y brand would be, so at least you could get some brand of tuna on sale, with the new sales/pricing strategy, some weeks you look at the tuna section, and NO brands are on sale! The same goes for cheeses in the dairy section, etc. They have also cut many name brand flavors, sizes, and varieties of certain products that are still being manufactured, to make more shelf space for comparable “Big Y” brand items. I’m seeing less and less space dedicated to the full range of product offerings of certain name brands. It’s frustrating, because sometimes you want a smaller size of a particular item, that you still CAN find at a competitor, but it’s not available at Big Y. An example is Cream of Wheat Original cereal. They used to have two sizes, at Big Y now, you can only get the larger size, but other stores and online, still have the smaller size box available. They are forcing you to spend more, on an item, by not offering the smaller size. I always liked to get ALL of my grocery shopping done at once, at Big Y, but now, with all of these changes, I have to make several stops, at their competition, to get the items they no longer choose to carry (-1 star).

I really love Big Y because they have a great selection of everything but they tend to be a bit pricier.

A local grocery store chain that was founded in Chicopee. Now, as it happens, their Chicopee location is their flagship store. Mostly on thee expensive side, they do occasionally have great sales. They have a good butcher shop that has gotten expensive over the years. Their seafood department is top notch and has fair prices as well. The deli and produce departments are solid as well. One place they stand out is their prepared foods. Top notch pizza, grinders, fried seafood, etc are well done and fairly priced.

I live closer to the South Hadley store but prefer the store in Chicopee. Help at all stores friendly and more than willing to go out of their way to help you. Shelves well stocked

Big Y SuperMarket have his perks! The best ever, beginnig with the Kids Club where they take care of the kids while you are shooping how cool is that. Today I saw a display of fruits for free yes for free! For children up to 12 yrs old. The flower shop have plenty of options to choose from and not only that they offer services for wedding arrangements. Big Y has comfortable aisles for make your shopping experience as best as possible can be. The meat area has plenty to choose from and fresh!!! I love also the mini Cafeteria they have with pizza, chicken BBQ, etc. Overall is very clean and the products are accesible. At the time you go to the cashier they staff knowledge their customers in a nice pleasant manner and are fair enough fast.

This is the best (in my opinion) Grocery Market store-chain in the local, Western Massachusetts vicinity. Perhaps, one of the best in the immediate area. Its family oriented as could ever be, they have taken to extreme precautions during the COVID-19, and considered a customer-friendly experience for all, including safety and safety of staff. Dinner deals here are usually good as there would be many sales on a regular basis. You cant exactly go wrong here. Much healthier than fast food counterparts.

Im from Florida. Originally from Massachusetts. Publix is the number 1 store in the world for customer service and there stores are spotless. After shopping at Publix any other stores are so lower in standards. You should have management go to Florida and check them out.

Quality items & great service!

Unmasked employee killing time with a masked employee who was wiping down shopping carts outside the store. Unmasked employee would casually hang onto the cart handles while chit-chatting with the employee trying to do his job. I approached the unmasked person to point out the danger of being unmasked and handling carts that were just cleaned. Didnt seem to matter. I reported it th management who headed outside to hopefully educate the employee.

Been shopping there for many years but I have to say that there are times that they dont have the items Im looking for and the items are Big Y brands.

As a black American female I always feel uncomfortable in all big y markets, especially in south Hadley and Chicopee, Ive avoided both these last few years. Much worse now in pandemic.

The Big Y is wonderful I bought a beautiful New York sirloin Prime Steak and it was the best I ever had when I walked in the carriages were extra sterilized and they had plenty of whites they are wonderful

Neat, tidy, a lot of big y brands to choose from. Items located exactly where youd expect them to be, deli part of store has a lot to offer. Staff is friendly, and non intrusive. Big y is definitely better than any other chain, such as Kroger.

I go every day for lunch. No fresh pizza wing bar was empty and the express lane had like 8 people in line and no offense meant to cashier but the slowest cashier was Manning the express lane. I have hall hour for lunch and almost 20 was in line to buy a soda and a couple bakery items. South Hadley big y is much better

I really like this Big Y, but the customer service has gone way down. Cashier Kathy is always unfriendly, never saying a word throughout the entire transaction. We all have off days, but its not just once. Its every time. And people wonder why we opt to go to places that offer self checkout.

Very clean store, even the rest rooms. Employees make you feel like their your friends. I love going to the pharmacy cause the staff there knows me by my first name and that makes me feel not just great but feel important. I find the quality of their food far superior than that of the so called bargain markets. If you shop smart using digital coupons as well as manufacturers coupons as well as buying products that are on sale you can do as well or if not better than these bargain outlets.And the theres getting .25 off a gallon gas isnt to shabby either.Go Big Y for you next Patriot game this weekend.

Close to home ,their staff one word INCREDIBLE.Always friendly,helpful and courteous.I love they have a digi App and receive great offers from manufacturers as well as BIG Y. Coupons can be printed or saved to your card through your PC.Totally love that option.The store is always well stocked for the most part,I wish their self help bakery was stocked with more options later in the day.They always ask if I need help with grocierie to my car,they noticed my hardship with walking.It feels great they would go the extra mile.

Very clean store and well organized but the cashier wasnt very friendly and the lady that was bagging my groceries was just throwing my groceries in my bags however she liked and when I approached her about it, she gave me a dirty look and goes What. Looks like she needs to learn how to bag peoples groceries the correct way!

This store is amazing I was in there this past Sunday June 7th and almost went into labor in their store because Im a high risk pregnancy the store was so kind meaning the employees they walked me out to my car they put my groceries in the car customer actually followed me home to help me get ahold of my husband everybody was amazing I would not suggest going anywhere else I actually went to Walmart on Tuesday June 9th to have one of their people tell me they refuse to get me an electric cart so I could wait in their ridiculous lie I go to Big Y same day just two minutes later cuz Big Y in Walmart or right you know theyre right next to each other and the girl has Big Y had no problem stopping what she was doing to help me out that shows you the compassion that Big Y hires their employees to have

Big y where i live is a huge store. It is clean and has alot of different varieties of food to choose from. Its a grocery store that has a deli a bakery, and a meat section. The shelves are stacked neatly that has signs of what food is down that isle. Its easy to find what you are looking for in the isles. The staff is helpful and nice. I had no problems when ever i go there.

Always clean and orderly. There are quiet places to sit to consume some of the prepared foods offered such as pizza, soup, sandwiches, or sushi. I rarely have trouble finding what I need in stock unless its towards the end of a Buy One, Get Two free item on sale for the past week.

Clean but never can find what Im looking grocery stores are never set up the same way. It would be nice if there was a model that grocery stores could follow.

I hada cashier who was allergic to dogs and I had my service dog with me and she made a comment about a great now its starting and I and she said Im allergic and I said Im sorry and she said yeah right you are. And then she just kept running her mouth about people who take animals on the planes as service or companion pets and snakes and other animals and she just the whole time she was ringing me out thats all she did was ran her mouth and put my anxiety over the roof that now I dont even want to go into any stores with my service dog. cashiers have opinion about this stuff they need to keep their mouth shut and not be running their mouth that people.

Love the spot sales. Got 2 packs Of St. Louis style ribs for just .65 per pound!! Also they have one of the best stocks of habanero peppers in the area. 🛐🇺🇸👍

This is not the first time I will buy cards from the store and before I get home and use the card it already used I wonder if they load the card to there personal account during the activation it all messed I lost my $200 dollar google play card yesterday I contacted google they told to contact the retailer that sold the card for me that they know what to do so I am very sure the card was used by the person who activate it but in other aspect they are good about groceries and attendance

Best grocery store in the area. I wish they offered more of a selection for healthy foods , organic stuff and allergen free foods and healthy cheese. I stock up on things when they have sales on certain items, but the selection of products is definitely lacking in comparison to other big y grocery stores. The store could be more organized as well.
