We have been purchasing soil and some gravel from this family owned business for years now. They are so friendly and full of knowledge. They have helped me with more then just goods. Have learned how to take care of my young fruit trees as well. Whether I pick up or deliver they take time to talk and really get the knowledge of what I am planning to do to make sure everything is right. Had a great experience when “dad” delivered my soil this week. I learned even more on how to take care of my cherry trees. He was not in a hurry to get going and not care. Even offering to help me if I needed it. It is always worth the delivery charge to me because they are so full of knowledge they don’t mind taking the time to share what they know about something that always help me. I would recommend them and say your crazy not to use them!!

Visited Focal Point Discount Landscape Center for the first time Wednesday (fyi-they close early on Wednesday) looking for rocks to paint, the staff were so professional, nice & helpful & surprised me.....she gave me the rocks! Who does that anymore. Big jobs & little ones like mine, I would recommend Focal Point. Good selection.

I highly recommend Focal Point Discount Landscaping! I called needing several yards of black chip road base delivered to prepare for my daughters outdoor memorial service that was being held in the rain. The friendly staff arrived at my home within 10 minutes of me calling with two loads of gravel and helped me get the job done. I will be forever grateful for their kindness.

They also were kind enough to loan us tools to finish planting our grass seeds. In my opinion they went above and beyond. We will be returning for future business for our next landscape project.

We purchased over $1200 in ground cover from Focal Point. Seemed like good folks and definitely a good price. However, they are not trustworthy with their delivery comittments. After each missed delivery window- it was attributed to something wrong with their truck. Brakes, water in the gas tank, etc., etc. It gets old after awhile. If you are running on a tight timeline, definitely not a landscape materials supplier that I would trust. I like to do business with people who do what they say they will do and not make excuses.

I have had nothing but good experience with Focal Point. Great prices on the products that they have and friendly service. I pick-up the material myself and very satisfied with products. I am very surprised at the other reviews since my experience has been excellent.

It is a discount material supply yard at discounted prices and delivery - so keep your expectations accordingly. As a landscape contractor- I feel they have the best prices for basic materials. Their selection is always improving with New Mexican stones. It is a friendly family run shop with as minimal overhead as possible.

So I went here to get some rock and the dude helped me load a few buckets of gravel. After a quick misunderstanding I know owe them money? Im so confused? Best place ever! Ill be back with your money when its not raining. LOL

A focal point would be the last thing this business has. After holding me conversation hostage for over an hour talking about rocks, he shows up the next day with the wrong rocks. I do not understand how someone could have a conversation about rocks for over an hour, and then deliver the wrong product. He is a nice guy, but has no focus.

This was a very unsatisfactory experience. I ordered 5 yards of garden mix and 1 yard of bark for my raised garden beds. When I called to ask the proprietar about his mix, he told me it was done on the fly on a case by case basis.I wanted my compost to me a mixture of worm castings, bat guano, chicken squat, plant matter, etc. I wanted my amendment to be a mixture of sand and finely ground rock a few mm diameter. I wanted something to retain moisture and add extra vitality to the soil. Usually this is perlite mixture.I wanted a simple mix of 20% compost, 20% perlite, and 60% soil amendment. I was told that the mixture was proprietary and he wouldnt tell me what it was. However, he did tell me that it would be 20%, 20%, 60% mix. The only difference would be that he would use volcanic ash instead of perlite. He would also beat the market price by $100 and would only charge a single amount for a double delivery of seperate soil and mulch. That sounded great. However, whenever I called I got the distinct impression that he wasnt the most professional of individuals. He worked from home, he was never in his office with records in front of him, he was never sure what his available inventory was, he wasnt certain when his deliveries could be made, etc, etc, etc...... Everything seemed to require 5 mins of checking to figure it out and I still got the feeling that he was pulling information out of his head.First off, his delivery was a week late, he lost the address for the delivery and had to call for directions. Due to high winds, he said that his neighbors complained about poor air quality when he mixed his soil and it had to be postponed until the next weekend. That sounded like a cottage industry and not very professional but I like to support small business and I hate annoying neighbors so I let it aslide.When the soil arrived it was riddled with non natural waste materials. There was chucks of metal rods, bits of plastic that looked like pieces of feed bags, and large rocks that ranged from cm - in in diameter. It appeared very granulated and not rich. Ive built gardens before and bought yards of soil. I know the texture and smell of dirt so black and rich that it makes you smile. This was NOT that quality. But he was confident in his volcanic ash product and kept talking up how all the landscapers in town bought their soil from him and resold it.I filled two 4x16ft garden beds with Focal Point Garden Mix on 5/2/14. Its now 6/21 and almost all my plants are dying. Ive gone to the store an bought a 2nd round of plants to fill in the runts and the die offs. As soon as I plant them, the leaves start to turn yellow and die. Ive grown all kinds of plants over the years and I know a nutrient imbalance/deficiency when I see it.This whole season has been a waste of time and money. Im going to have to pull all my drip lines, buy a yard of compost, mix it in and redo my irrigation system. I should have spent the extra $140 and gone to Sutherland Landscaping in Chico, or The Worm Farm in Durham like I had done in the past. But I was relandscaping my backyard and was short on cash, so I went with the lowest bidder on soil.Dont make my mistake. Spend the extra 30% and go to Sutherland Landscaping, The Worm Farm or Zamora Sod Farm. Those three companies were excellent to work with. In the end it will save you MONTHS of time.
