We are so happy we found Chicago Roof Deck and Garden for our rooftop Pergola. After extensive research, they were the most professional and organized company we interviewed for the job (and we met with 5+ contractors in the city). Special thanks to Jake and the design team who provided amazing renderings and walked my wife and me through our many questions. Jake also suggested the awesome grey and white color for the Struxture system which really makes them stand out from the competition (it wasnt black only which makes the area very, very dark). When my wife had questions she was able to make a quick visit to the showroom which was great to see the product firsthand. We also were impressed with Kevin and his crew that built it...incredibly professional from wearing masks, taking off shoes, and cleaning up daily after their work! By far the best crew Ive ever had working at my home, thank you. They did such a wonderful job were already talking about partnering on our next project and compelled me to post this review which I never take the time to do. I highly recommend working with Chicago Roof Deck.Once the area is cleaned up underneath, furniture in place, tv, etc this will be the best space of our home!

We worked with Jake on the design process for our 800 sq ft terrace. It was a raw space and Jake was able to take our limited vision and design a beautiful outdoor space for our family that included planters, an outdoor fireplace and TV. The process seamlessly transitioned to the construction phase and we were very pleased with the quality of work and timing. These guys are great. Very happy with the experience.

I highly recommend Chicago Roof Deck and Garden. Let me tell you why:I recently bought a new condo, in a 30 + unit building in downtown Chicago. Our unit has a terrace, and we wanted to “deck” it to level out the space, build out a privacy fence, and add lighting. I had looked at Chicago Roof Deck and Garden, and while their work looked great, I thought my project was likely way too small. This led me to reach out to another well regarded roof decking contractor, who has some of the best reviews in the city. They came out to visit the site, took measurements, told me about how they have done this a million times and that my job was no problem. My building approved the plans and materials pending permits and I thought we were all set. I wanted a second opinion so I decided to give Chicago Roof Deck and Garden a call.Jake from Chicago Roof Deck and Garden reached out to me and asked me a bit about my project. I told him what I wanted to do, gave him the measurements so that he could provide me with a estimate and told him about the types of materials currently spec’d for the project and that I had already received HOA approval. The email I got back from Jake was astonishing, I have never received such a detailed email on a first reply from any builder/contractor/designer. The level of detail in this email confirmed that he understood the project, the budget constraints, and city code. It was this last point that separated Chicago Roof Deck and Garden from the other company I spoke to.In Jake’s reply to me, he pointed out that the materials that the other contractor was planning to use were not up to city code. In my building all the materials need to be Class A Fire Rated, and what my current contractor was planning to use was not. Jake also pointed out that the privacy fence that I wanted to build would require a permit, another thing that my existing contractor told me I did not need.So I followed up again with my existing contractor. After some digging the contractor emailed me and confirmed everything Chicago Roof Deck and Garden told me in my initial email exchange. I would need a permit for the privacy fence, the materials currently spec’d were not up to code and could not be installed. More importantly he was unable to complete the work because it was too complex. This was a big shift from “we have done this a million times”. My building approved the project, which means this deck would have been built, and if anyone had realized it was not up to code, it would have had to be torn down and I would have been left without a deck and been out 10s of 1000s of dollars or worse if the deck ever caught fire. THANK YOU JAKE, AND THE CHICAGO ROOF DECK AND GARDEN TEAM FOR SAVING ME FROM THIS NIGHTMARE.When I spoke with Jake from Chicago Roof Deck and Garden, I told him this story and he told me that unfortunately this is common. We then focused on my project. Jake was very quick to acknowledge that this job is on the smaller end for the work they do but they could make this project work. He pointed out that my vision for the space was already very solidified which would allow me to save on design costs. He brought up the privacy fence and asked me several questions about why I was putting it in. After listening, he suggested artificial hedges, he suggested this for two reasons. First planter boxes and hedges do not require a permit, where a privacy fence does. Second, the privacy fence was going to require a re-enforced sub-structure to the decking frame to be up to code. This was expensive but would not be required with planters, saving me a ton of money. All of these things helped get the project to fit more comfortably within my budget and led to an overall better design.I have spoken to a lot of contractors and I have never had a conversation that left me feeling as confident and comfortable as my conversation with Jake.

We chose Chicago Rock Deck and Garden after evaluating a few options to upgrade our roof deck. We knew going in they would be the premium price vendor but were encouraged by their commercial and residential portfolio and also really liked working with their team. I could not recommend them more, they completed the project in the time theyd promised, were flexible to make cosmetic changes as the build out progressed and helped us visual the space with 3D mappings in order to pick the best finishes and layout. If you are on the fence with Chicago Roof Deck and a cheaper vendor, I would highly recommend paying the premium for them. It was a seamless experience and they are professionals

Great people to work with....while we havent executed the plan at the moment, the process of delving into some potential complications was detail oriented, thought provoking, and fun! I am confident that when we get the going, the same professionalism and joy of process will be in place!

Kassie and her whole team were fantastic to work with. Really appreciate the thoughtful yet practical designs. We ended up needing to change things at the last minute due to our condo board, but Kassie was there for us the whole time. Definitely felt like she went the extra mile, but thats why we were recommended to go here in the first place. Thanks again for all the help!

Had a great experience interfacing with Jake and the quick turnaround in what we had discussed and envisioned. Up front about recommendations and concerns and nice to have a casual, yet professional conversation. Very cool office and design studio that showcases a lot of possibilities. I would recommend them to people looking to build out custom rooftop decks.

These folks are super helpful. Recently purchased a home and hand some run of the mill questions regarding pricing and design. They were happy to assist and took the time to walk me through exactly what I needed to know. Will definitely be using their services when we push forward with our deck.

Awesome design team. Jake and Ally are fantastic to work with. Note: decks are extremely expensive - this isn’t the place to go if you want a quick, cheap deck. If you’re willing to make the investment, this is absolutely the place to go.

The attention to detail in the design process resulted in a functional, inviting outdoor space for relaxation and entertaining guests. Chicago Roof completed the work on schedule too! Not the way that I want to do business. Warning to anyone that wants to use this company: $500 is what it costs to get a portion of a proposal. They dont come to your house. The proposal doesnt include the actual design. They use what you say you would like to have and they just add it through a CAD program. I could have build it myself through a lesser program than CAD or drawn what was presented to us with a pencil.

I have had a blue tarp on my roof for over a year now and finally got around to calling a professional to handle the leak. Money was an issue for a while and when I was ready I called Chicago roof and deck. They were straight forward with me and I appreciated that. After they came out to inspect the damage and give me a quote, I was ready to get the ball rolling. The cost was not crazy and the end result looks a lot better than the old tarp.

I had the pleasure to work with Adam Miller & Tom Bartoseiwicz at Chicago Roof Deck and Garden on my garage roof deck from ground up. Their design/ build approach was a big part of my decision making process as they were able to handle the project as turn key solution. Not only did they build a new masonry garage for me but executed my dream roof deck space. During the build they were communicative and responsive to my concerns and all of the little hiccups that come with such a big project. I was so impressed that every time I called either one of them, they always called me back in a timely manor and addressed my questions concerns right away. I have dealt with many builders over they years and that rarely ever happens! Over a year later I still talk with the team every couple of months and absolutely love my outdoor space. I would strongly recommend this company!
