Bari is a very good sub shop. Its an old school spot with many homemade items. Ordering a sandwich at 9am is perfect, you cant beat baked overnight bread, just be weary once you get towards dinner time. Slightly dryer, slightly crispier.Best meatball sando in the city, if you disagree I would love to hear your suggestion.

The sandwiches are yummy though this last time the tuna was missing some of the magic I remembered. I love the feel of this place and it is definitely unique.

Truly the best subs in the entire city. Incredible quality and very nice people working behind the counter. While they are known for the subs, I recommend the seafood salad.

Solid sub sandwiches!! Friend recommended I try this deli and sub shop. They were churning and burning in there. They made the subs fast which was impressive! There was a line but went super quick! I tried the Italian sub and Tuna Sub.

I was looking for the most authentic Italian Beef I could find and came across Bari’s. Let me just say I’m so glad I found this place. All of the staff are very friendly. The place is this cute grocery store that sells various things you would be looking for. In the back, there is a Deli. They have a number of sandwiches but I got the Italian Beef with Hot Peppers and Cheese. Oh my gosh, I was lost for words when I bit into it. It was the most delicious thing I consumed while in Chicago. I live in Ohio and I would drive back just to get that sandwich. Please give this place a try, you won’t regret it.

How could you not love this place? Some of the best Italian sandwiches in Chicago, and then its a good little grocery on top of that. Plenty of DOC San Marzano tomatoes, good bronze-die extruded pasta, good oils and vinegars, Caputo flour, homemade giardiniera, canaroli rice, oh and the only place Ive ever seen Diamond Crystal salt!

The staff are AAA Service Friendly. The people working the deli seem to read your mind as far as how you want it sliced. The finest quality meats and deli service. The best mortadella and hard salami in Chicago. Make sure you get a nice wedge of Fontinella cheese in the refrigerator. Sandwiches are superb and made with care. It would be a shame to skip this place. Oh, and they even take Apple Pay!!! How cool is that! Got to love it. Helpful hint. Sunday morning before 10am is the best time to beat the crowds. Youll have the place to yourself, well, maybe not anymore.

This place is the real deal. Classic Italian-owned Deli and Grocery that cures its own meats and make some of the most incredible sandwiches and soups youve ever tasted. Last time I was there I was in line with two firemen four police officers and half-a-dozen construction workers. My favorite is their 12in Italian sandwich with medium giardiniera. They use fresh bread from bakery nextdoor and the pastas in the freezer are extraordinarily delicious. A must stop whenever Im passing by.

My first time at Bari’s Deli and I had great experience, selection of products I never heard of or saw before which makes them a unique family owned Italian business. Employees are nice and helpful...I ordered over the phone a 12’ Italian and also a 12’ American subs with everything on them. They were delicious and tasted great 4/5 stars but I have had better subs at other hole in the wall spots. I will be coming back again😃

True, authentic Italian sub sandwiches along with general Italian grocery items. One of the best sub shops in downtown Chicago, but preorder for pickup otherwise face a long line wait. Always crowded, testament to their quality, desirability and popularity.

My wife loves the roast turkey sub. Its big, has lots of fresh stuff inside, and is very reasonable priced. Also we get some lasagna or eggplant parmesan to heat up at home for dinner.

Ive loved this setting for many years. I can get great subs, groceries, and pickup a variety of cheeses and get them grated. Theyll take good care of you.

No More Damatos Bread.... so sad.... that is what made the sandwiches so great. The bread is not comparable at all. I miss the old days of Bari sandwiches made with Damatos Bread. Besides the bread the food was good. The lady in front was nice. The guy that took my order walked away while I was telling him what I want. I didnt know if he was taking the order or not. Another guy came up, I told him what happened and that I wasnt finished ordering. He took the rest of the order. The other guy brings up the first sandwich I ordered. I came to find out that he didnt put the cheese on it as I requested. Maybe a class in customer service may be needed. Unfortunately i feel this is my last time ever going back. BRING BACK THE BREAD!

I loved just walking in to this Italian deli. The smells that hit me brought me back to my childhood. The Italian beef sando is phenomenal! Reminds me of my grandmothers. The meatball is legit too. Be sure to get the beef sando dipped. Dont worry, the bread holds together.

Best subs in the city. Also great for deli meat and specialty Italian cheese. Good for a quick and delicious lunch, or to grab something for a nice dinner. Huge pasta section. Highly recommend the Barese sausage. Cook it in beer or wine. Put it over pasta with lots of Romano.

Staff is pretty friendly and youre getting a lot of food for what youre paying for. I got the classic Italian and its basically two sandwiches. I was very disappointed with the bread though, it was a little stale. The deli meats were good.

Went for the sub. Only one vegetarian option, but its a nice Caprese, with good quality Italian bread and fresh mozzarella. But its a better place to get imported Italian dry goods and prepared sausage etc. They carry a variety of pasta made in a bronze die and frozen foods too. Next time I will get those. Looks like a leftover from an earlier time when this place must have been a Italian neighborhood. Theres a lot of Italian delis, restaurants and bakeries in this stretch.

Amazing subs. Top 3 sandwich place in all of Chicago, best meatball sub by far. I have had almost every sub on the menu, and have yet to be disappointed. Just on weekdays around lunch time pre order your sandwich. Waiting in line takes forever...despite being worth the wait.

Chicago hidden gem. No frills just great Italian food. If you been to Italy then order Caprese and add prosciutto and you will satisfy your needs without flying to Rome or get Italian with giardiniera for classic taste of American Italian.

We drive from Indiana to get their homemade spicy sausage. Ground & links.. it has a lil kick that’s not to hot but flavorful. I called ahead and they had it ready for me when I got there..

Love that veggie sub... The eggplant is the source of all my powers. Grab a just of giardinera while you are in there, and put it on literally everything you eat for the next week. Trust me, you wont regret it.

If I could give zero stars I would. I try to frequent this store to give a local establishment my business. They wouldn’t sell me a few slices of cheese from the deli because they were closing in 15 minutes. You can do a lot in 15 minutes. Apparently, they can’t. For a store with already limited hours, you would think they would at least serve their customers until their 5pm closing time.

Gotta be one of the best Italian sandwiches in Chicago. Got Cannoli from D’Amato’s next door and they were really good too.

This place is awesome. Its a small, old school Italian neighborhood grocery and deli. Ive been to similar stores as a kid in Italian neighborhoods in New England, and also in small towns in Italy. Im 100% Italian and have dual citizenship with Italy so I like to think that my opinion is credible, but if you need further proof... Today I took my grumpy 86 year old father here. He didnt want to go...I twisted his arm. He loved the place. It brought back his childhood and he kept pulling products off the shelves! He also loved his sandwich and the specialty sausages he brought home.Go here...go here NOW!!! 😎
