Great Gelato. It was fun to try some unique flavors and the texture was heavenly. We werent sure about the cantaloupe flavor, so they gave us a small scoop on top to taste it. It was a nice treat to go with the heavier creamy Gelato in the cup.

I showed up in a large group close to closing which is the worst thing to see walk through the door as an employee. Sorry guys.Still, the staff didnt rush us, they were totally patient. We all tried a few flavors, ordered and got outta there very happy. The balsamic strawberry was to die for. My gf got the mint chocolate one and it was fantastic too. Im sure if I had more time to try others they would have been just as killer.Im not local but if Im ever in the area again, Im going back. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

The goat cheese ice cream and the hibiscus gelato were both delicious and the sitting space outside the store was nice. Shout out to the wonderful employee Lincoln who answered all my questions about the flavors and made sure I enjoyed myself!

I tried Black Dog Gelato for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I combined Blueberry French Toast with Blackberry Lemon. It was ridiculous... ridiculously good! Im now a fan4life!

The staff were lovely. I tried the goat cheese, malted vanilla, and strawberry balsamic flavors. The vanilla and strawberry didn’t really taste all that different from vanilla or strawberry ice cream, I didn’t taste any maltiness and the balsamic was pretty subtle (maybe not a bad thing). The goat cheese one was my favorite, and I don’t normally like goat cheese ice cream.

Mint cookies & cream and birthday cake were great. Service is wonderful. Overall pricy though.

The lady with pink hair was super nice and made sure my 2 year old was happy. The guy at the counter was a jerk when I asked if they had more of the pretzel flavor, which put a damper on the experience.

Artisanal gelato in the outskirts of Wicker Park. They make their gelato fresh daily and have a rotating set of flavors. Day old pints are sold at a reduced rate. Service was prompt and friendly. Highly recommended!

Perfect 5 stars. Great selection of flavours. The goat cheese is incredible. Sorbets are not too tart. Really like the salted caramel as well. I would say one of the best craft in-house gelato places in the city!

Fresh one of a kind gelato flavors.

We tried two flavours - smoky cherry chocolate and the goat cheese cashew caramel. Both flavors were true to their name and tasted exactly like advertised. super nice! I personally preferred the goat cheese flavor but if you like stronger chocolate flavors, try the cherry chocolate. Looking forward to trying more flavors - specifically the blueberry french toast!

Lucky for us we went during a snow storm, no wait! it would be worth the wait either way! we went for the Game of thrones inspired flavors, let me tell you, they hit a grand slam here! had to sample a few before we made up our mind! summer is coming! we will be back frequently for sure!

Good gelato at a decent price! Try their pistachio gelato. There isnt much more to say, they offer samples if you want to try. I bought by the pint, 3 for $15. Flavors are all deep but not overpowering. Staff were nice, but interior was a bit warm and limited seating.If youre in West Loop, definitely stop by for an after dinner treat!

Creative flavors that change every month and make it nearly impossible to choose from because they all sound so good. Prices are fair and gelato is delicious, not much else you could ask for!

There are much better options for frozen treats. Is it a good option, sure. It is a solid option to visit and patron, but other than that, there isnt much spectacular about this establishment. There are better frozen treats around the city that are more satisfying in my opinion, and worth taking into consideration when trying to satisfy a sweet tooth

For the past five years I have been looking for a gelato that at least resembles what I grew up with in Sicily. Yesterday I tried the pistachio from Black Dog Gelato and for a brief moment I felt like I was in Bronte munching fresh pistachio nuts right from a tree. And the other flavors were really good too!

Had a steady flow on a cool night in June can only imagine how busy it will be come high Summer, the friendly team there was patient and efficient offering as many samples as desired. Best place to land on a summer night! Weird, delicious natural flavor combinations, some you will love, some you wont, and some will make you cry. We like the day-old pints to enjoy at home. Dont bother with those other frozen, artificial goos. Black Dog is the real deal.

We like to go for walks and grab some dessert. This a great neighborhood gem. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Sometimes the flavors are hit or miss though too strong or too bland.

We had Blackdog Gelato cater our July 2017 wedding at the South Shore Cultural Center. The entire experience from start to finish was fantastic. We worked with the owner, Jessie, who had us in the shop to sample many different flavors and even provided samples of a few flavors we requested that weren’t on the menu that day. It was so difficult to narrow down to four flavors, but we ended up with Blueberry French Toast, Dark Chocolate Sorbet, Mint Chip, and Salted Caramel. We booked the service late, so the cute cart wasn’t available, but they did have a table top serving piece available and we used it for our ‘first scoop’ instead of cutting a cake. They worked with our caterer to deliver during a tight delivery window and made the entire process easy!

What a nice place. The gelato was good, the service was friendly, the place is nice. They have a lot of interesting flavors which you wouldnt normally think of. The price is a little expensive but for a once in awhile treat, its worth it for gourmet gelato.

Some of the best gelato Ive had in Chicago. The flavors are really unique and incredibly flavorful. I had the espresso, pistachio, and Mexican hot chocolate. Super impressed by the pistachio. It was creamy and had real pistachios in it. Mexican chocolate was a little spicy for my taste (I could feel it burn a little in the back of my throat), but was still delicious!We came late at night so there were slim pickings. Most of the favorites had already ran out. Will definitely come again.

We go down to Chicago to visit my husbands old neighborhood, and - specifically - Black Dog Gelato. Their flavors are always unique, intense, and delicious! Their sizes/portions are always overflowing, unlike other gelato places that barely fill the cup to the rim.

This is not your average gelato. go expecting lots of interesting and in season flavors sure to please any palate. They even have day old pints you can get for a great deal. This place has a small outdoor patio to sit back and savor every bite. Enjoy!

I dont order Gelato often but Id have to say this was pretty amazing. I tried a bunch of samples and had a hard time choosing. I ended up choosing their sea salt and caramel and it was to die for! Great treat but small portions and a bit expensive. The cones looked pretty tiny. Id definitely stick with getting cups instead of a cone.

May be considered pretty decent in the Chicagoland area, but highly overrated. Does not measure up to the superior gelato found at Gelateria De Medici in Florence. I’m being generous by giving Black Dog 3 stars.

Look, this aint traditional Italian gelato. Goat Cheese and Caramel---really? And yet, and yet, this place absolutely lives up to the hype. The flavors are creative (well, duh!) and change from day to day. What really sold me, though, is that they have the fundamentals down. I tasted their vanilla, and it tasted *exactly* like it should---no French Vanilla nonsense, just smooth, velvety, egg-y and milk-y vanilla. Given that, Im more than willing to give them a license to go crazy with flavors like Olive Oil and Figs (if I recall correctly).
