I love this shop! Not only do they have amazing products but the staff is so nice and always willing to help. I feel so wonderful in the shop the energy is always flowing and everyone is just absolutely amazing there and I’m so grateful that they have such amazing staff. They are very knowledgeable so anything that you need to know if they’re not sure they will definitely find out for you no many holistic or metaphysical shop Are willing to spend time educating their customers! All I can say is this is my favorite store in the whole wide world. I recommend that everybody goes here.

I’ve been coming to this shopOn and off for years. There was a nice man who worked here and always made me feelWelcomed. However,The new staff are notVery friendly or professional. The last time I was in, I really didn’t like the experience. The woman working there , she’s about 40’s long brown hair, was so rude and unprofessional. First she was giving some “psychic” advice to a customer for about 30 min from the register and speaking very loudly about the woman’s personal business . Very uncomfortable. Secondly, she was beyond rude when dealing with customers. Her tone was snarky and rude and made everyone in the store uncomfortable. She became very defensive when I told her she was behaving oddly and made me uncomfortable. A little bit ofProfessionalism and being less intrusive with your customers would probably bring more service to the store. Based on these reviews, I see I’m not the only person who gotBad vibes or a bad experience recently. You’re a business , be professional.

Love this place. It was better than what I expected, the vibe was amazing. They didn’t have what I was looking for but we found other items and was very pleased with them. Will definitely go back. It was my first time being there. Amazing!

Update: Ive been shopping at this boutique for over 2 years now. Spend very good money here. Im always respectful, but after how uncomfortable I was made to feel during my last visit I will NEVER spend another dime in this place or recommend it to anyone I know. Went in for a candle reading and I was greeted by a cashier with a very dry attitude, which I ignored at first.After my reading I decided to stay a bit and browse as I normally do and on this day I had my purse with me. I literally caught the candle reader whispering to the clerk blatantly pointing at me thinking I didnt notice, badmouthing me!!!? And the cashiers attitude got even nastier afterwards and I already knew what was going on.I come here all the time, they know my face, Im a respectful woman, and you disrespect me and think Im going to continue business in your store forget it. The staff in here seems to have changed over the years and apparently not for the better. I am firm believer that theres just certain things you just dont do.

When I arrived I was not greeted by any of the kind souls in the store. No one was available to tell me what was what and provide any assist if I needed. When I did ask, the male person would just point to an area in the shop. I bought two new crystals from them. I didnt get a name card so I forgot the names. I tried calling back but the male person said he was too busy to look at the jars left on the table; however, I had just left and there was literally a couple in the store. Where did this wave come from?Flash forward a few monthsand I reached out to a holistic store back home in Texas for clarity on one of the crystals out of desperation. I still didnt know the other one. I reached out via the companys Facebook to see what the other one was. No response. I called the store again this same male informed me he didnt have access to the messenger and didnt know when the owner could get back to me. Such a terrible experience that has lasted months for two crystals I mistakenly purchased from a not so whole holistic shop.

I visited Augustines last week to purchase a couple of crystals. I used my debit card. Meaning I would have to enter my pin code. The cashier still asked for my ID for the $13 purchase. It made me feel some type of way. Its always been that if you enter your pin code that was proof enough that you are the card holder. But she requested my ID. Im wondering if she was stereotyping me because Im a black woman. I wont be visiting this store anymore. That really made me feel uncomfortable.If Im entering my four digit pin code with my debit card thats enough proof that its me. I would be more understanding if there was no keypad. Then I wouldnt question why my ID was necessary. So whatever...

Very KNOWledgable however some items are a bit pricey. Pillar candles can be purchased at the Dollar Tree for $1. It’s literally the same thing. A candle is a candle & all they do is slap their business logo sticker on it & up the price. Just an FYI for consumers who just aren’t aware. It’s all about intention. While I was standing in line two separate customers were interested in purchasing Selenite that was in the display case. They referred to it as Quartz. The cashier did not correct either of them. Selenite & Quartz are not the same thing & I found that unprofessional of them to not correct either customer. The cashier also gave me negative vibes and after reading thru some of the reviews I now have clarity about how I felt. I am very intuitive and my intuition is never wrong. So, glad I am not the only one addressing this issue. I was standing behind a customer and had a jar of crystals in my hand as I was purchasing a crystal for a crystal healing necklace I planned making for my daughter. He motioned me to come up to the counter just to sit the jar on the counter. I was hesitant as I wanted to give the lady in front of me her space so he could tend to her since it was her turn. When I didn’t move forward he pointed at me and then pointed at the counter in a demeaning manner as if he was demanding me to step forward like I am slow & didn’t comprehend what he meant the first time. I had to catch myself from cursing him out because he’s rude as hell. He also seems to have a know it all personality. One who thinks he knows more than the customers coming in there. I been traveling this Earth too long to deal with those whom live in their egos. He has this personality that reflects someone who just because he is KNOWledgable & runs &/or owns a metaphysical store any customer coming in is below him, not being conscious enough to the fact that souls that are more ascended than he is also are coming in as customers. He should really check his being. I read energy and his energy stinks. Aside from that they have a lot of nice items & a decent selection of crystals, tarot cards, oracle cards, etc. The boarded up front door gives the illusion that the place may be out of business. We only knew it was open because we called first. I won’t be returning simply because the cashier’s energy stinks 🤮.

I went to this store with high hopes because it was my first time no lie I didn’t know were to start because I’m new to all of this but for some reason that day I decided to go so I went and walk in the store and felt like a kid in the candy store so happy so many things to choose from were do I start lol I ended up getting a couple things a lot of things lol but when I got to the counter the guy was kind of rude idk if he felt some kind a way because I had a lot of question but I was very kind and respectful he just gave me bad vibes as if I was getting on his nerves so I asked was I doing something to bother him by it being my first time I have questions because idk how things go he replied with attitude I brought my things a nice gentleman walked me to the door and told me don’t let him bother u because u did nothing wrong enjoy yo day and don’t let it bother you at later on I was told that I shouldn’t have brought the things I did from there because the energy was off and was pointed into the direction of another store but hopefully others will have a better experience 😃

My first experience here was a good one! I didn’t ask his name but the guy at the counter was very polite and friendly. Has nice stock supplies as well.I didn’t see the poke root and snake root but there was plenty of other stuff!

Keeping this review short and sweet. My favorite psychic healer Scott (Stitch) no longer works here; but he was one of the truest, kindest and MOST LEGITIMATE psychic healers Ive known who could actually bless and dress candles that ACTUALLY WORKED! He was incredibly and naturally psychic and Augustines lost a gifted healer so I will miss his presence. I have visited this occult supply store over the years and the candles vary in prices. I was in dire need of a 7 day candle that was gold metallic. Thankfully the sales clerk pulled one for me but unfortunately there wasnt any pricing listed so I was charged $10 for a gold metallic candle that I woukd have been able to purchase at another candle shop for $5.50. I needed it badly so I accepted the higher price and Im grateful he was at least able to find me one to use for prayer work this evening 🙏Also I dont like being catty but in the past I purchased two beautiful, long smoky quartz wands here from Brazil with so many inclusions that they both broke apart and they were very very delicate. I paid so much money for each wand so I was so disappointed that they broke so easily.This shop is extraordinarily clean and all of the staff members were always so helpful and polite with the exception of a former employee named Crystal who was somewhat irritable and moody especially with me. Stitch was truly a gem and thats why Im giving four stars. Some of the prices here arent very fair; it all depends on which candle or crystal you decide to purchase. I support small businesses but charging me $10 for one 7 day candle isnt very karmically correct. Also an expensive wand should not break that easily either. I actually own several crystal wands that have never broken quite so easily. I give 4 stars 🌟 for the beautiful healing work Stitch did for me because he was a shining light. I always send POSITIVE karma to small independent businesses who offer unique magical supplies. But please have a heart ❤ and Dont take advantage of your customers in a time of need by escalating your prices it simply isnt karmically correct.

This Place is good for figurines and eclectic fines, but when it comes to practical every day items on your shopping list I wouldn’t recommend. I’ve been here three times now and I must say, The every day spiritual shopper can definitely find better prices anywhere else. A huge quantity of the crystals in the store are fake, and imported from China… Just check the bottom labels, store owners hand write prices and will increase the price at the register....Everything here is just overpriced OK.

I love the shop and ive been here before. the staff are very willing to help on everything. however i was in the store today and i was talking to the man working when he stopped his sentence to ask me to button up my shirt. i found this extremely inappropriate but i was so taken aback i buttoned my shirt up. there was nothing wrong with my attire, and im very worried that he felt comfortable enough to say this. i will not be returning.

Very knowledgeable staff. They are also very patient with helping find out a path that works for you and patient with questions. Overall they get 1000 out off 10. Wonderful and excellent all together.

He is a very wonderful, charismatic and helpful person. He gave us the best advice and provided us with the products that we needed. I LOVE THIS STORE! Since the moment I stepped foot in this place, I knew I was in good hands. Im usually assistanted by Rev. Stitch who is a volunteer at this beautiful establishment. This is the only place I go to re-up on essential oils and anything that I need for spiritual work. I always leave in a better state than when I walk in. Loyal customer, have no plans or intentions of going to a different establishment.

I love coming here. They always make me feel so welcome. They have almost anything you can need for spirituality. I especially love when they do personalized candles that are for your specific needs. For as long as I live in Chicago, I will always come here.

I called the store seeking help and Rev. Jones stated he could assist me with my issue. I asked if I could make an appointment and he said that he preferred I just come in on Sunday between 12-4, which I did.When I arrived rev. Jones was assisting another person so I waited patiently for an hour. The store isnt very big and he was the only employee there at the time. I could over hear everything that he was discussing with the customer and despite the fact that it was of a sensitive nature he remained to speak loudly and let others hear her issue.By the time he was done with the customer there were other customers waiting to be helped, but being that I was next he approached me to see what I needed. I stressed the sensitivity of my need and informed him that I didnt mind if he assisted the other customers first and that I would continue to patiently wait. To my surprise he said no and that if I wanted his help I needed to tell him what my issue was. The other customers were there to purchase items which he could have quickly dealt with as my issue required more of a consultative service. He stated that hes been doing this for over 15 years and that it was a place of trust. However some how that did nothing for me as I didnt feel comfortable or respected having to divulge my personal issue in front of five other strangers.He stated that is how things were handled there and if I wanted his help that I would have to speak to him then. He also informed me, while the other 5 customers were standing next to me, that the issues I was experiencing I was manifesting them myself, although in a much more colorful manner as he has the vernacular of a drunken sailor, no offense to sailors but this reverend dropped the F bomb many times while speaking to his customers.It was also extremely presumptuous of a perfect stranger who didnt have a clue of what my issue was to inform me that I was manifesting things. This by the way was the same exact advice he gave the customer he was assisting when I arrived.Perhaps to some, having their private and very sensitive issues aired in public doesnt bother them, but it seemed he was doing this more to allow people to hear him instead of actually wanting to help the customer. For him to get so upset also tells me that he isnt as centered as he claims to be.Understand that I am not saying hes a bad guy, but I asked for respect and discretion. Instead he informed me he was already there past closing time. Ive been dealing with my issue for more than 30 years and when I initially spoke to him I was very hopeful he could help. But that proved to be false as he didnt respect me enough to allow me to wait until he checked out his customers. I even asked if I could return and he stated it would always be that way. Sorry for the negative review, but please dont offer your services if you arent going to be respectful to the person seeking them.

This place has a great selection of incense, candles, and oils, there candles are top quality as well especially the 7 day ones, I also like the fact they make their own oils. However anyone can learn to make the oils themselves and to because they are homemade they are pricey. I could only give this place 3 stars for a few reasons. First depending on the day you may have to wait up to 2 hours to explain your situation to get proper advice as they may only have one person working. Second I requested a candle they did not have they agreed to make a label for me and to my surprise the price doubled from $3.50 to $6.50. So a paper label automatically doubles the price? Also I wanted a candle fixed and they wanted to charge me $40 plus the candle fee for one 7 day candle. I understand the price goes up for fixed candles but that is overcharging. Bottom line come here to buy your candles and incense dont ask for help and dont ask then to make a candle they dont have. Other than that its a good place!

Decided to finally stop in this shop with my mom this afternoon. She was so excited since she had been wanting to stop in for some time now. Boy were we disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the shop itself IS very beautiful and I must admit they have lots of great spiritual items available. My issue was with the horrible customer service we received from an older man working there. He was with a young lady, who I believe was also an employee. Right off the bat this guys whole vibe was funky. He was very rude. Didn’t bother to greet us when we first walked in the door & no offers of assistance while we looked around. Not even a friendly smile our way. He just kept watching us and saying things under his breath. I still can’t get over the fact that HE was the employee on duty. He made us feel sooo uncomfortable. When my mother confronted him about it he replied “I wasn’t even talking to YOU, I didn’t say anything TO you” she responded “no, but you’re talking about us to your coworker and I can hear you” She began explaining how he made her feel and how upset she was. Then he tried to apologize but by then it was too late. We ended up putting the items down that we had planned on purchasing and walked right out. I truly suggest they find themselves a NEW employee, one who actually understands the type of vibe and attitude to have when working in a spiritual environment. Sad to say, we will not be back nor will we be referring our friends/family to this shop.

I should have written this review years ago as Kotaro and his shop are a joy to visit. Not only do I make a point of visiting when needed, I frequently tell out of town visitors to make some time to just stroll through, talk to whomever is working and inevitably, they too attest to how perfect a visit it is. I wish I could give 5 stars.

Rev stitch is a really cool guy. He is usually swamped with a ton of people who need advice and readings etc but he talks to you in the order you got there, so there may he a wait. But he gives good advice and is hilarious, as long as you dont mind that he swears like a salon. He is not the type of person you want to go to if you want to go to if you are in a hurry or are the type of person who is sensitive to swearing. If you are laid back and not sensitive to the likes of that then you will love the man.

Rev Stitch been knowing me since I was a 14 or 15 years old n Im bout b 27.. every time I go there I always ask bout stitch.. till one day he told me Crystal was a good person to go to if hes not there so I use to go Crystal sometimes... Im glad that I might stitch and Crystal 😇😇😇😎😎 they both are on point and give a advice... But I wish I have stitch and Crystal email 😢😢😭😭

I enjoy this occult store. Stitch is very helpful. I brought some skull candles today, the only problem is that, this occult store has very few skull candles. My other go to occult store has very few skull candles too. They also didnt have a few things I wanted for dark magick, but besides that this store has a lot to offer. I love their oil selection, candle selection plus no one has a problem answering any of your questions. When I was a new witch I would come here all the time, and ask questions. Everyone was very helpful. Moondragon is another great occult store in Downers Grove.

Augustines was a second home to me for years, Carolyn Hennes the owner and her staff are wonderful caring people. They carry very high quality oils and bath and body products produced in house. A great local place with clean energy and a great selection!

Whats not to love about a place where you can be free to explore and learn! The staff is delightful and offers so much information. You can find anything that you need and more. Bonus: youll have a conversation that sparks a fire inside of you!

The owners were the sweetest most helpful characters ive encountered in my whole life!! they were kind enough to answer all of my questions and cater to all of my needs. i walked out with several candles, oils, incense and herbs. not to mention cute jewelry. definitely recommend, such a positive vibe and experience.

The shop has a nice collection of what you would expect at a spiritual boutique including: crystals, necklaces, tarot cards, incense, Buddhist and Native American paraphernalia. Although the store is clean and well-kept and the owners are friendly, I was turned off by the HUGE selection of home made candles (the tall ones in glass cylinders) with paper labels printed and glued on them (probably using a regular inkjet home printer). The problem was not with the look of the candles but rather the promises the candles would have on them: earn more money, find the love of your life, find joy, etc.. I just find these empty promises are misleading to those feeling desperate especially when the items are some what pricey.

Expensive. However many good things inside. Nice selection of stones, incense, religious cards, tarot decks. Staff is friendly and some good personalities too. Custom readings and consultations are available on individual basis.

I was less than impressed with Augustines which is a shame because I had high hopes! I went in looking for a box for my tarot cards, they only had one box there for $140!? The proprietor of the shop, Stitch, claimed that I would be hard pressed to find one for cheaper. I then went to Alchemy Arts and purchased one for around $15. What a ridiculous claim for him to make, I have no idea why he is held in such high esteem; any person trying to swindle others is not someone I would trust with any spiritual advice or otherwise.

Had been a customer for 24 years and love going there their products are excellent quality and sales represenatives are very helpful. Highly recommend

I went on a Sunday and waited to talk to stitch. I liked the selection of candles among other things. The worker Stitch was able to tell me which candles would be the best for my situation.

I have been to this place more than Reverend Stitch knows his stuff as much as I do . I got my Pomba Gira from here years ago. It is imported and the real deal.The stains are from Ritual work. Powerful candles and oils that never disappoint. This store is my favorite type of store hands down.I hope Rev Stitch appreciates where my paintings are strategically placed on my google. reviews a total of 3 times for 3 terrible places who tortured me.

The sales person there talks too much he rather talk to you about everything then get you what you need. I was there for 20 minutes waiting for him to stop talking to this customer about his life not about the products I wouldnt go back.

I dont recommend using this novelty shop as a first choice.... Charged 8$ for 2$ worth of main stream sage that no one could even tell me the origin of... Micheal was the best part though, he was personal engaged and actually making conversation and giving me good knowledge on tarot cards. I bought them bc of him. The Chinese deck, Im gracious for your knowledge and proven patience... The other employees either watched me walk around or corrected me on terms... Over priced manufactured crystals and no assorted choices for sage... I feel like this place is gimicy and takes Advantage of a culture that has become a trend. . But magic is my life and not a novelty.

I went to Chicago and was looking for metapsychical shops in chicago while I was there so Augustines was the closest shop by me. I got a bit lost looking for the shop which is kinda small if youre not severely looking for it so I decided to call them. The person I was speaking to on the phone was seriously rude and I got bad vibes from him so I decided not to take the effort to try and find a parking space for the shop. I ended up going to unique thrift shop and found a few very unique finds like a nature carved plaque and a large glass ball.

This place has an incredible vibe to it. The employees are very helpful & knowledgeable, my friends & I bought stones, candles, etc
