Love this store. As soon as you walk in its always neat and decorated nicely. Always clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Honorable mention to the sushi display and I dont even eat sushi.

I asked the clerk working in the floral department if she would place some flowers I wanted in a vase and she rudely told me NO she was leaving in 10 minutes and didnt have the time she told me if I wanted something in a vase buy something out of the flower case that had already been made. Walked by 20 minutes later and she was still standing at the counter never have I been treated so rudely and told No by any employee that they didnt have the time to help me Bye bye Stracks !!!!!!!!

Strack is a great place to shop. Especially the health food and gluten free sections. The fruits and veggies are always fresh.

I LOVE the organic section in the Valparaiso Stracks!!!Very organized. Friendly checkers. A lot of the customers wore No masks. I loved that. Freedom to Breathe!

The floral manager is awesome. My mom told her it was her first time in a store in a year and she gave mom a beautiful yellow rose! She also brought us an extra bag to carry our groceries! Strack is lucky to have such a kind and helpful employee! 🥰

This store is always clean and has a huge inventory. Ive always found everything I was looking for and some hidden gems I wasnt expecting!

This is one of the better Strack stores. Produce, which is a weak point in some stores, is fairly decent here. If it was closer I would make it my go-to store.

Stracks has the best reward program of any grocery store. I like the special coupons for members. I got a nice turkey for Easter at an excellent price. I also love that they have charity each week you can round up your total for.

Heidi in the floral department did the flowers for my wedding. She did an AMAZING job! She took time to figure out exactly what I wanted, reached out to me with any questions, and had them delivered to 2 places that day. I am still so happy with how my flowers turned out and would definitely recommend her to other brides!

Slightly prefer over Jewel, but end up at Jewel more often because it is closer to us.

An amazing place to shop, the cashier was so kind and sociable and made me and my family feel so welcomed when checking out. Everything was wonderfully sorted in the store, and we even got some new items to try! On previous trips, we found the sushi to be divine and the green tea delicious and amazingly priced. The little individual spicy mayos for the sushi were even better, so the customer could get more if they liked it. Workers were kind and offered assistance if we needed it, and the experience was just amazing. 5 stars!

The atmosphere is very calming. The staff is very polite and friendly. The quality of the produce is very appealing to eat. I recommend the watermelon. It is very refreshing. And the quick to serve meals that are already prepared are very convenient for anyone who wants a quick and easy meal to eat on a busy day. I will definitely will be coming back.

MoldLike the picture clearly shows, the mold was on rolls in the stores bakery section.I was there to buy items for a birthday including a cake and store baked rolls.I DID show the picture to the cashier. She called the night manager over to see it.What happened after that is your responsibility.

The ease of using the Instacart app was diminished by the wait time at Strack and Van Til. I had been sitting here in the designated parking spot for 8 minutes when the app told me to call the store. I did, letting them know I was here, and the associate told me he would be out soon because he “had a few things to do.” I understand being busy, but at this point I had been waiting in my car for over 10 minutes with a four year old and an infant, and I might as well have just done my own shopping for all the frustration the experience caused me.To his credit the associate was kind and apologetic, which I appreciated. I just think they need to sort out their electronic difficulties.

I like the Chesterton Stracks. Large selection in the health foods aisle.

Its well organized. The store is always clean! And they still make their own fresh polish sausage although it wasnt as good as it used to be. I wish they had a store where I live. Their prices are very reasonable as well.

Decent variety and quality. The produce occasionally has some poor spots. Also, we noticed both chicken legs on the rotisserie chicken were broken, which concerns me. We still shop here, we just dont get the chicken anymore.

Last few times I have had to go to Jewels after not finding everything I needed at Stracks. The store seems to be less stocked than it used to be.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Straks in Chesterton. My home store is in Portage. The Chesterton store is much more stocked, the cooler sections were in new coolers and the service was spectacular. People willing to help. Really a great place to shop

This store DEFINITELY needs to have a chat with their employees about being personable. They are horrible in that area. Other than that, they do have a pretty decent variety of vegan foods that are nice

After picking up what i wanted i went to check out and no cashier to be seen after waiting a few minutes and then having 2 employees look at me waiting and just go back to what they were doing i left what i had picked up and left

Nice variety compared to my neighborhood store. They are all a bit pricy as well to what i usually pay at a different store.

Average grocery store chain. A bit more expensive than Wal-Mart, but they are clean and well managed. Each location is set up differently. Chesterton has a large selection of health conscience foods. Lincoln Way Valpo location has the best sushi maker. Calumet Valpo has the better bakery. Portage has the largest produce selection.

Great place to find almost anything youre hungry for and I got some good labor day sales.

Management doesnt care about employee and customer safety. Saw at least 10 people not wearing masks and a loaf of a manager walking around doing nothing to rectify the situation. Will never return here.

I shop here all the time! Im originally from the Northwest Ohio/Southeast Michigan area where they have Krogers grocery stores with great products and fresh locally grown produce. Strack & Van Til is the closest grocery store to Krogers that I have found in Indiana. I LOVE that I can also get Money Orders here too! Strack & Van Til is super convenient, and staffed with friendly, helpful people!

Generally good prices. Generally good service. Occasionally youll encounter a cashier having a bad day though, and that ruined my experience AND my review of them.

I appreciate the steps Stracks has taken to keep customers and employees safe during this epidemic. One way aisles, sanitized carts, a hand santizing station and plastic shields for the cashiers are some of the ways they have worked on this. Stay safe.

I’m going to disagree with the review below that praised their flowers.I have started going out of my way to go to Jewel to purchase flowers & create my own floral arrangements for dinner parties, etc.However can’t even say that Jewel’s flower quality is much better anymore.This Stracks seems to be more expensive than the Valparaiso location for the sometimes low quality food/fresh produce & the staff can be rude at times as well as long checkout lines & no self checkout. The only positive is the “health” aisle, lots of great yogurt, nondairy milk, tea, & soup choices.

The cashier that I was at was Sarah young lady that asked me if I found everything. I told her mostly but I couldnt find Blaine Mary mix and she knew where it was and she offered to go through the store grab it for me not only did she grab it for me she grabbed three different brands and size bottles to make sure she could satisfy my request. She did it with a happy face and a willing heart she went above and beyond. Shes a great employee.

I like stracks, they seem to be out of a lot of stuff my last trip, but the snow storm could have a lot to do with it.

The Chesterton store is where I shop. They have a beautiful floral shop. Lots of fruit and vegetables. They also make very nice party platters, and they have a beautiful bakery. Its your one stop shop!

I am very disappointed with our Stracks. They have so many rules for their customers to follow (only one entrance and one exit, traffic moving in one direction down each aisle, etc...) However, their own employees flagrantly fail to wear their masks properly if at all. You can tell there is no real management in the store in the evenings because this happens every time we are there at night. Tonight they had 2 cashiers working. One had his mask around his neck and the other had hers under her nose. Two employees in the store werent wearing masks at all. This is the 3rd time Ive seen it and Im not sure that Ill go back again anytime soon.

Great grocery store. Employees are extremely helpful in finding items that I cant locate. Susie in the deli (I believe she is a Crew Leader) is always super friendly and helpful. The lady filling shelves in the seafood Dept. went above and beyond to help me find something that want even related to seafood. Didnt catch her name is I would be giving her extra kudos on here.

I love shopping here because the staff is friendly and helpful. The products are always fresh and a variety to choose from. I recommend shopping here if you want to save some money and know your getting a good quality product. The deli and bakery have good choices and produce is fresh. The meat dept also has good quality meat and you can ask to have it cut for you if your looking for something that is not already the way you would like it.

I like the Chesterton store where help is friendly and choices are good. Deli staff is excellent there.
