Very straight forward and honest up front people for a first time goin after being refered by a few friends, and I have a hard time trusting mechanics affordable honest work

Helped me out even though it was the end of the day because I was stranded coming through town. Went out of their way to find the part I needed and were willing to stay late! Would highly recommend.

This Ma and Pop auto repair is a diamond in the rough. Today went in there with no heat. It is below 0 outside and Doug and Jr worked all morning till they could put me on the road with heat. Very reasonable priced for the amazing work they do. If I could give them 10 stars I would.

I cant say enough good things about this place. Came from out of town to camp at Indiana Dunes for few days. While backing my camper in, I blew a rear brake line. Called Jims and they gave us a ride to and from the shop and repaired the line at a very reasonable price!! Nicest folks Ive met in a while and they know their stuff about auto maintenance!! Saved our vacation!!

Jims Auto Maintenance & Repair accepted our car from a tow after a catastrophic engine failure late last Friday afternoon. Were from out of town and we found them to be accommodating, honest and reliable.They took a look at our car, performed the indicated repairs and allowed us to work through the balance of what turned out to be a warranty repair situation.A big shout out to Shawn @ Joes Towing, too, for recommending them. Helped me out when I had an issue with my tire coming lose. They were closed when I arrived and offered to help out regardless. Incredibly appreciative for a quick check and tightening for the lug nuts on all of my tires. Would absolutely recommend.

Our work truck recently needed a fuel pump. We were quoted a bit higher than what it ended up being. We needed our truck back by Wednesday for work. They were able to get it all fixed up and ready to go the next day. Nice guy, however a bigger sign is needed. Didnt look like a mechanic shop.when we arrived I had to call to see where we needed to park the vehicle. Will use again in the future and I also would recommend this to others.

Car had issues on the highway and I had to pull over and find a mechanic quick! Jim saved the day and I was so happy to see how reasonable he was with what he charged (which is always everyone’s concern, right?!). He took care of me quick and got me right back on the road. Thank you guys!

Came in to get my broken exhaust fixed up and they were straightforward, gave me different options as far as what they could do and what it would cost, and got it done FAST. Literally the best shop, not joking. This guy right here! Literally saved my life from falling apart. They stayed 4 hours late after closing to make sure I was taken care of. I could not have made it from ny to Colorado if it was not for this shop. Went above and beyond and that is an understatement. Please throw your business at these guys! True auto pros. My daughters car broke down on her way home from college. Luckily she was able to exit the expressway and found Jims as the closest mechanic. He had her repaired and on her way in under an hour. I am so grateful she happened upon this honest, capable individual. As it should be of course, but wanted to give him a shoutout - as a parent, so thankful for his care in her situation. Just had a coolant leak problem while in the area on a family vacation. There was a crack in the heater bypass y. No parts stores in the area had the part. Jims was able to get the part in and make the repair the same day.They also went way above and beyond and gave me a lift to and from where my wife was with our 3 kids so we wouldnt miss out on a few hours of vacation time.It would have been really easy to take advantage of someone in a tight spot and say the whole assembly had to be replaced and charged a lot more for parts and labor.Hopefully if Im out this way again I wont have car troubles but if anyone in the Chesterton area is looking for fast and honest mechanics who are also just good people check out Jims Auto.

They told my son he needed all four rotors and brake pads replaced when he had just had them replaced at another garage 3 months ago. Luckily, there is a mechanic in the family who said he needs one caliper replaced ONLY. I sent my son here based on the 4.8 google review status but I will NOT go back to them after this.

I bought my 2005 Ford Escape here to get fixed and it is almost finished, by the looks of things he has done an excellent job!!! I will come back here if i ever have any troubles with my car again in the future. Definitely recommend coming here for car maintenance.

There are many repair shops in the town of Chesterton, IN and we have been to several. We would NOT recommend nor go back to any of them! We found Jims by accident but it turned out to be our good fortune. Our Jeep had many serious time consuming problems, all electrical. Jim was determined to figure it out an fix it and FIX it he did! Spoke on phone with several employees, each one polite and courteous.I could go on and on but would take too long. Jims is excellant at what they do, fair, honest and reasonable. Explains in detail the problem and the fixes. Oh and we now can pass the emissions test!Thank you so much JIM!
