I ate at their restaurant in the city a LONG time ago and loved their pizza. My wife and I went tonight and it just wasn’t that great.The bread our waitress brought out was good, but not great.The “hot and spicy” wings were neither, but I’m used to that. They toss one spoon of hot sauce into the batch and say it’s “hot”. Anyway, for $12 I expected at least a dozen wings but we got 8 or 9.My wife got the spaghetti and sauce, which was light on sauce. What we did get was heavy with tomatoes.My pizza unfortunately did not remind me of the old style in the city. It was good, but not awesome like I was hoping for.Service was great, no problems there. Overall, for the $65 we spent, it was “meh” at best.

I ordered a build your own pizza, whole sausage and pepperoni and half green peppers. I received 1/2 sausage and pepperoni and 1/2 green peppers. They agreed to remake but I had to return to pick it up. Upon arrival I asked if they could throw in a salad for their error and my inconvenience to which he responded no because he remade the pizza that they made incorrectly. Stating that the 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas are so confusing. I was really disappointed. After returning with the pizza replacement it was clear that it was smaller than the large pizza I originally ordered. It had been years since I had Talaynas and I remembered I liked it so decided to recommend to friends. After this experience I don’t think I will return. Not to mention they have no COVID-19 protocols in place at their restaurant.
We needed a last minute pasta meal for our team on a Sunday evening and the folks at Talaynas saved the day! We travel often out of state with our boys soccer team and try to support local whenever possible. Our boys and their families had nothing but praise for the meals (fettucine and baked ziti) catered by Talaynas. The salad with their homemade house dressing was equally well received. We will definitely order again if our travels bring us back to St. Louis. Thanks to Caleb for fulfilling our last minute large order!

Today is my husband’s birthday. We ordered steaks and a few other things over a hundred dollars worth of food the web said it would be about 45 minutes and that was ok. So right before I was going to pick up my order they called and said they were out of steaks!!!!!! That a big group had just bought them all. Since I had ordered 45 minutes ago my food should have been already started. I have been raving about Talaynas for over 20 years but I will never spend another nickel there!
I ordered carry out due to COVID concerns. No masks on any employees during global pandemic. No mask on the person who collected my money and no mask on the person who presented me with my order. Very inconsiderate and I won’t be back.
We visited Talaynas on a Sunday afternoon/early evening.We started with drinks. The lemonade was fantastic! The beer was cold, served in a frosted glass.They brought out the bread which was crusty and very dense served with good old fashioned butter. Great extra treat. Im a big fan of free food before the real good.The appetizer we chose to get is started was the Jumbo Toasted Ravioli. Fantastic! I loved the sauce but it could have been meaty.We ordered a house salad to split between the four of us (and we had some left). Roped provel cheese. Homemade croutons! Double thumbs up. And then came the pizza...We order a kids pizza and the pizza was PLENTY BIG for a kiddo. The big 16 large we chose was the New York Style with half Deluxe plus bacon and half meat. The pizza was wonderful, plenty left over at all. All in all the services what made it worthy in the five star rating. They were attentive, friendly and accommodating.
This review is over Talaynas Pizza only.The sauce tastes like its straight out of the Can. The ingredients are sparse. -There were many bald spots on the Pizza indicating that the cheese was not enough. I tasted freezer burn on the bacon. One Large Pizza with three toppings: = $28.00. Huge Disappointment! Ive had the thin crust there, it was very good. Dont get the New York Style. Go to La Pizza in U. City for that.

This place is great to eat at. Me and my family all enjoyed our meal very much. The service was quick and friendly , the food was hot and tasted great and the manager actully came out to each table and greeted each guest and made sure everyone was having thier best possible experience. This restaurant is owned by a great man who treats all of his employees with dignity and respect. If you look at the one star ratings you will see someone named Madison who left a review mentioning a woman named Michelle, playing as if she was an innocent victim. I would like to clear that up, Michelle along with other employees were caught on surveillance stealing money and that’s why she was fired. Medhi is a great boss, and anyone else who works there and respects just basic decency will have no problems with him. All he expects is for his employees to work hard, be honest, and respect one another.

I was in the area for a doctors appointment, and I asked a local for recommendations to eat and he told asked if I liked Italian. I wasnt in the mood for Italian, but his and 2 others comments saying I wont be disappointed convinced me. Let me just say the food was phenomenal! I even ordered some food to go as well for my 3.5 hour trip home. You wont be disappointed in this place.
They lost the delivery order and we ended up waiting for three hours and never got the food on Mothers Day! Take your business somewhere else, there are very poorly run.
One of my favorite places to eat! I have been coming for years. Great socially distanced patio seating available which I greatly appreciate. Service and food was immaculate. If you want a great variety of pizzas to choose from and it be be delicious come here.
What are three reasons to never go to Talaynas ever again? A rude manager, cold food that was late, and small overpriced portions. The only thing worse than bad food is bad food and bad management together.During covid, it’s very difficult for restaurants to survive and extra hard to stand out. But Talaynas has stood out in the wrong direction. We expected at a minimum hot food and not an attitude and a challenge back to their own shortcomings and mistakes when we called to follow up. We were accused of not following protocols for curbside pickup which were not stated anywhere. The three pizzas we ordered were all cold and the salad was small for the price with barely any lettuce. Expected better for a restaurant that my father has been going to since the early 1970’s when it was located on Pershing and Skinker owned by Mike Faille Sr.
Delicious! Great experience for takeout. We had the pasta with meatballs and side salads. Everything was so good, better than expected. Great customer service, too.
We ordered from here regularly since moving into the area, but after our last experience we will not order again. Ordered a pizza and a couple salads. We live less than a half mile from the restaurant and it took over an hour. When it eventually arrived the pizza was freezing cold. I called and spoke with the owner who was unwilling to do anything and told me “Delivery is hard, if you want hot pizza you need to pick it up.”
Being a new yorker in St Louis, good pizza can be an issue. Talaynas delivers with their new york style pies. Their large pie is just slightly smaller from the pies is get in new york, but taste great and have an authentic crust. One of only a few good pizza places weve found in St. Louis!
Hand tossed pizza is good. St. Louis style pizza was good as well. Salads used to be so good here, but ordered a house salad last Saturday for take out @ $8.95, & it was disgusting. Some of the lettuce was brown (spoiled), there were big chunks of lettuce, which I had to cut up myself, & the core of the head of lettuce was included! Nobody eats the core of a head of lettuce! I was appalled that I paid almost nine dollars for something that was not really edible.
Lamb shank was more like lamb jerky. The gyro salad was good. Be careful if you get curbside. They will charge you $7.95 and $0.31 for delivery. I waited an extra 25 minutes past the time it was supposed to be ready at 2:00 in the afternoon. I called and they said there was nothing they could do. Order #1010. So much for helping local businesses during the pandemic.

Sat on the patio today great service!! It was a little hot out but they have fans going, canopies up, plants all around it was nice! Best New York pizza in St. Louis We had the Manhattan extra large with toasted ravioli and house salad. The traditional house dressing is nostalgia at it’s best!!

I ordered a pizza, over and hour and 10 mins later, after three phone calls, received a pizza and two free deserts. Turns out, their fax machine jammed, and it took 50 mins to tell me that. Once the food came out, the lady that brought it to my car gave me a long explanation, and to make up being 40 mins late they provided us two free desserts. The pizza was the worst we have ever had. The desserts were good. I would avoid Talayans for a few months, until they can figure out how to run their restaurant.

This is an awful place to work. You might as well not tip . The owner thinks the tips belong to him and the manager. They fired a good manager for bringing the theft to the light and she wouldn’t participate in stealing your gifts to the staff that were working so hard for them. Michelle gave all of herself to this place seven days a week and he fired her saying she challenged him too much. Because she didn’t want to take tips that belonged to the staff for the restaurant.

This family-owned restaurant offers great food in a cozy setting. Ive had various pastas, salads, and most frequently the pizza. Everything Ive eaten here has been great. I have occasionally had mix-ups happen with online orders, but theyve always been very helpful to make sure I was taken care of.
Went here for the first time last night. We ordered a one topping thin crust pizza, a caesar salad, a kids meal, two waters, and two kids milks, and the bill was $38 before tip. They charged us $3 per kids milk! We also requested no provel cheese on our pizza three times, and guess what..... it came with provel. The restaurant has a unique atmosphere, but it just wasnt clean and the service was so-so. We wont be going back.

Ordered pasta con broccoli. The sauce was as thin as water. Sent it back. It was returned on a new plate, but just as thin as before. This time I found a hair in it.Manager says thats the way we make the sauce!! (After the waitress told me they had thickened it.)Owner is sitting at nearby table. When when I tell him what happened all he does is shake his head & say, Thats because the head chef left. He also says running a restaurant is the hardest job there is .Talaynas used to be great, but the quality has really gone down.

Talaynas is my favorite pizza!If youve never tried this pizza, you have to give this place a try. Its some of the best around. I prefer the New York style, but they also have, St Louis, Chicago, and Artisan styles. Not to mention the rest of the menu selection. The pasta is amazing, too. As a matter of fact, I havent found anything I didnt fall in love with.We had a franchise in Quincy, IL for several years, and once we found this place, we were there almost every week. To the point where we had a regular waitress and when they saw us coming across the parking lot, the had our order pre-written and ready to turn in (just in case we wanted to add or adjust anything, they waited). When they closed, I thought I was done with my favorite pizza... then I remembered, the original was out of St Louis, somewhere. Ive been spending a lot of time in St Louis lately and thought I would see if I could find the original.Jack pot! Found it! I was also told that there is one in downtown St. Charles. The next time you feel like a really good pizza or any other great Italian food, make your way to Talaynas.

This was from a friend: I need to let off some steam! We ventured out Friday evening and had dinner at Talayna’s in Chesterfield. This has always been our go to place when we wanted good salad and pizza. Friday night Gary decided to order the shrimp fettuccini which showed up on our phone after following the instructions posted on the wall above our booth. The price was $13.99. Everything was delicious, but when the bill came it said the shrimp dish was $18.98. We also had a coupon for $7.00. When we questioned this, the waitress said she would get the manager. We waited 15 minutes for the manager to come to our table and she was evidently having a bad day already. She informed us, not politely, that the price was for the catering menu. We told her where it appeared on our phone, she got huffy and left, to return a few minutes later with a new bill which she threw on the table, saying “there, I gave you $10 off now I hope you’re happy and don’t bother to come back.”Never mind the math didn’t work right, but we were just happy to get out of there, all the while she was screaming things like “you don’t appreciate us working people” and other things I don’t care to repeat.A young man who was bussing tables walked with us to the door and opened it for us, apologizing profusely for her actions. I realize everyone has a bad day but we heard her screaming on the phone long before we even got our food. I need to add that the owners were not present during this tirade or nothing like this would have happened. Still trying to decide if we will ever visit our “favorite” place again. Time will tell.

Food was made very poorly! Appetizer came out, when food arrived and was cold. My buddy got a house salad and the lettuce was soggy and brown. There was barely any cheese for a over prized salad and was charged extra for a cup of dressing. Waitress Hailey was very rude, and checked on us when we were ready for the bill. Left a note for manger and was told I’d hear from them and never did. I have been coming here for years, but this place is just not okay anymore.. do not recommend.
I waited on the order for half an hour before they brought it out to me. The only thing on the order with some garlic bread and some Alfredo and it took 30 minutes. highly don’t recommend coming here please save your money and go somewhere else. The waitress had an attitude and was completely Rude when I asked why my order was taking so long
Ive given this restaurant many chances. Weve ordered for lunch several times. Today I thought Id get the Caesar Salad...The bottom of the salad was watery and there was brown lettuce all throughout the salad. Really? How do you mess up a Caesar Salad????Just to make sure you realize I am not a one time customer, Ive had Cheese Garlic bread, eh.Mozzarella Sticks-burntPizza-gross (This is the ONLY pizza I have ever not liked. What a great restaurant! my sister and I went in last weekend and had the sweetest server, Leann. she was very attentive, quick to get refills, and made suggestions what to order. she treated us like family, even though it was our first time. the eggplant parmesan was delicious! 10/10 would recommend.

Best Pasta con Broccoli Ive ever had.
The veal was spectacular, my wife loved her ribeye, and the kids feasted on toasted ravioli until they were nearly bursting. The house dressing is amazing. I don’t know what to say about the mozzarella “sticks” except they should be called logs and were out of this world. What a wonderful meal.
Old chicken in the chicken parmesean and was full of oil, wilted lettuce in the salads, waitress really rude and short with people literally saw the waitress pick a tomato off of a salad and proceeded to bring it to our table. Way unreasonable prices for the quality of food
Service is always slow, but good. They just never have enough staff during lunch. But the food is worth it. Delicious salad and pizza at a good price. All you can eat lunch special is the way to go if you have the time!
We eat here a couple times a month & have never gone away dissatisfied. The servers have always been courteous & pleasant. I recommend this location highly. The N.Y. pizza is authentic & outstanding. Salad dressing is excellent.

Very nice and helpful server. My wife and I thought our dinner was prepared well. All in all it was a nice experience except for the lady that seated us at our table. She was gruff and only cared about dropping menus on our table and leaving. No greeting nor kind words were offered. She must have been having a bad day.
When I was in the work force, every year he would plan for us employees to come together before Christmas to celebrate, and after go over to Brunswick, and bowl some games to finish off the evening. The food there was always good, and the deserts are great. Very cozy place to dine😋

I had dinner there last night and ordered the shrimp scampi. It was noodles and shrimp but absolutely no flavor. Very disappointing. The only thing that tasted good was the croutons on the salad. I didn’t like their house wine either
We stopped by a snack. Split their famous house salad and toasted Ravs. Love their dressing and homemade croutons. We had a great server. It was a nice Saturday afternoon experience.
I live in close proximity to this place and truly like it but my take out order food was in the top 3 of worst take out orders ever experienced. I ordered a salad, which was fine, but the pizza they forgot the pepperoni and they threw on some disconnected , over cooked pepperoni. I would have been better off to have picked up a piece of pizza thrown away in the garbage a few days ago. I told them I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza. They wanted me to actually to just accept the sausage pizza because that is what they had as the order. I informed that is not what I ordered and wanted pepperoni & sausage. They did add the pepperoni but was like baco-bits and did not stay on pizza; they cooked it after the fact and threw the so-called pepperoni on top. Additionally, the pizza was missing a small chunk of it. I took a pic of the pizza in case the owners are interested in what goes on in their shop. In my opinion, the help hastily took the order, messed it up, and did what they could to cut corners to make their shift easier, which negatively impacted customer experience. This used to be a good place to go for pizza and Italian food but not any more.
Worst dining experience ever. Steak was hard to distinguish from rubber, waiters came once every hour (no exaggeration) when we were the only people in the restaurant. We waited for over an hour just for our food. Of the 10 people who ate with us here, my meal was the best. It tasted like nothing, while everyone elses food I tried made me gag, and they gagged too. I wouldnt dream of ever coming here again.
We ordered through Door dash (great service for them), while the sandwich orders looked awesome, the salad was bare minimum as was the side of fries. Now lets talk about my Manicotti order - $ 9.95 for ONE TUBE NOODLE WITH FILLING IN IT??? Seriously? It did taste good, but honestly a frozen Michelinas entree from the grocery store is just as tasty and for about $2.50 I would have gotten TWO noodles at least. I would have not given any stars - however, I was forced in order to post the review. So we will call the one star as a plus for the sandwiches.
Have been going to this location for several years now, The food is always delicious and the service great! They have the best Spaghetti with Meat sauce and their salads are awesome too. If your in the mood for local Italian food, this is the spot!

The salmon was served at the perfect temperature with a beautifully sauce. The broccoli and Italian potatoes were also very warm and at the right temperature for eating. Meaghan was very professional in attitude and attire.

I like there pizza. Ive had it a lot. The only one I didnt enjoy was the Chicago, but thats because I dont like tomatoes and it has big chunks of then on it, so you know personal preferences. But overall the crust is delicious, there bread is amazing and crunchy, salads are filling and have a lot of dressing offered with. There pastas are great too, using thin noodles for things like spegetti, and amazing red sauce. Love those round noodle toons with cheese shoved inside, I dont know the name but I devoured those in a hear and wanted another round
The food was good, but the service terrible. I went there with some co-workers around 11am. The place was not busy at all - almost empty - so the slow service cannot be blamed on that. The food took an hour to get - one of my coworkers had to leave with her food to go it took so long. Then it took the server 30 minutes to get our tickets to us to pay. She kept messing it up. She never refilled our drinks. Soda is too expensive to pay for it and not get any refills. I do not plan on returning. The food was not good enough to make the terrible service worth it. The whole terrible experience lasted almost 2 hours...making us late back to work.
