This place is amazing! The whole staff goes above and beyond to take care of you. Was in a major pinch with out of town guests and a wedding shower at home. They cleared a bay and had me in and out in :15 with the fix! Saved the day. Great marketing too because I may end up with a new mower. Great prices!!

L&C Chesapeake Store had in stock the Hustler Z Turn deck belt that I desperately needed. The only complaint that I have is that their price was 1/3 higher than one I had on order from Lowes (cancelled) and over twice as expensive as a spare that I later ordered on Amazon.

Had an issue that left a sour taste in my mouth. Sense then they have worked at all out beyond my expectations. The manager Paul really did a great job reaching out and solving all my problems and gotta give him props for that. Did so good I had to delete the bad review. Didn’t even want people seeing it after the effort him and his employees went through to fix it. Will be continuing to shop here. Thanks again for changing my mind.

I was nervous about going here based on the other reviews but it all went well!! I was helped by Ryan....I had done some research but still had questions...i decided to go here instead of home depot. He was able to answer all of them and helpes me find the right model for the size of my yard. I gave him a budget of $3,000 and I left with a better model of what I was thinking I could get at $2,900 out the door.... I checked pricing online and it matched the big box stores....the positive thing is I could take it home the same day with Land and Coates or wait 4 weeks for home depot to deliver the model I wanted. I had never driven a zero turn.....they allowed me to test drive one in the parking lot. I was full throttle and flying up and down within 2 minutes. I had to leave for a meeting but came back the next day to pick up the mower. Ryan had the mower gassed up and ready to go. He said they adjusted and tuned the steering to make sure it was good as well as the fabricated deck. He showed me where and even how to change the air filter ,drain the oil, and oil filter. Nothing out of the norm. but definitely different than the John Deere LA115 I had. Overall great expereience and love the new mower.

The staff was pretty helpful. Told me what I needed to know and didnt try to sell me on anything. Bought a mower here and had some issues keeping it running the same day. I called them to let them know what was going on. They welcomed me back the next day, made some adjustments, tested it infront of me, 30 mins later I was on my way. The Toro mower cut perfectly and was a beast. I had a hard time keeping up with it, haha. I also brought a snowblower in that wouldnt start a few years back. They quickly diagnosed the problem and had it fixed within a few days. I havent had an issue since. Great customer service and quick turnaround times here!

Customer service is outstanding! The biggest reason is the people that work there really do care. My Toro Z-Turn mower needed a part (being shipped from China) and was in the repair shop an extended period of time. The growing season in full swing and I was paying lawn service to cut my yard. It seemed like my yard was growing at a rate like an episode out of life after people.....these people were kind enough to drop a demo mower to me since they had my mower for the extended period. This is the very definition of customer service GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND to insure satisfaction. THANK YOU!!! I will not shop anywhere else from now on!!!

They are very nice folks however the communication between items bought over their website and the pickup in the store doesnt seem to sync up very well. Lots of Stil parts on hand. Next time Ill just call the store directly instead of doing things over the internet.

I would advise against bringing your equipment here for service. Trimmer dropped off and told it should take 1 day to repair. Followed up after 3 days, not done and no details provided. Followed up after 7 days, not done and told it needs more repairs...and oh we were going to call you. Had they made any attempt at communicating with me to let me know what was needed or why they were not able to perform the repair in the time that they had stated then I would have understood. If it needs more work than originally thought, thats fine, just let me know whats going on and why. The fact that they didnt communicate, then made excuses, then gave me attitude about it shows that this is a poor excuse for a service department.

Came in there ready to buy a Zero Turn Lawn Mower, and compared a price. He Immediately stop helping me, and stopped answering questions. So I just walked out. Service is terrible. If I had a chance to get his name I would list it up here so everyone would know who to avoid.

This place is absolute trash, they always take forever to do anything and the staff does not care what so ever. Your equipment will sit there for weeks before its even touched. Coming to this store is a complete waste of time. My mower sat there for 3 weeks and they couldnt figure out what it was. Ive been waiting on a part for a month now because they lost the first one that came in. Absolutely ridiculous

Vern Stone gave some awesome advice on keeping my pressure washer working. He stopped what he was doing and listened to the problems that I encountered with my pressure washer. He told me what I was doing right and wrong. It was refreshing to get personal customer service without the feeling that the establishment just wanted your money. Verns genuine customer service was greatly appreciated.

So, I got a Honda EU3000 for camping. It is great to get one put together and ready to go. They showed me how to use it and answered all my silly questions about it. They recommended this one because I cant pull the rope much anymore and it was electric start. I wanted it for coffee, eggs and bacon in the morning. I started it right up and it was so quiet! I never woke anyone up!

I called to have my mower serviced. I don’t have a trailer so they were coming to pick it up for $20 each way. $40 total. I’m expecting them all day as I have my mower sitting outside then I get a call at 5:00 saying they’re not coming until Monday. As a business owner myself I understand things happen and you can’t always do what you planned on doing. So they come get it Monday, then after not hearing from them all week I call on Thursday and ask what the status is and they say they haven’t been able to get it into service yet after four days. Then I tell them how I assumed it would not take four days to change the oil in the lawn mower and he replies that someone should’ve told me they’re on a FOUR WEEK turnaround. I understand it’s summertime so obviously lawn mower dealerships are busy but a whole month?! He says he can get it moved up some but here it in now, the following Friday, and I haven’t heard from them in the past week. I’ve called five times this week to talk to someone and check on the status and all five times no one has answered. It might just be the Chesapeake location that sucks, not the whole company, but they’re management needs some help.

I cannot say enough about the hospitality, professionalism and the sincere care shared by everyone that helped me at Land & Coates. As a homeowner facing the scary news of the force of Hurricane Florence, I was desperate to find a generator to keep my family safe in an area marked for mandatory evacuation. Having stood in lines several times - morning - noon and night - awaiting the truck with generators - I was sorely disappointed each time when there were no generators OR no truck. I understand that this is a numbers game and the demand was great. The care that I received when I reached out to Land & Coates was sincere, immediate, informative and honest. They asked a lot of questions about the type of generator I needed for my home, my family and my pets - and let me know that if a shipment was coming in - they would contact me...and they did. Paul Roediger at the Chesapeake store, not only had the generator on site and ready for me, but also showed me how to use it, allowed me to do it myself and the team loaded it in my car for me to take home. This is a company that is family-owned, local and one of us... and I appreciate everyone there and will continue to tell everyone about them - AND give them my business even when its not a natural disaster!

V ery good service.My hustler zero turn mower broke a drive belt Monday 10/31/16. I called Land & Coates, (which is where I purchased the mower from 3 years ago) and they came out that afternoon and picked the mower up. I received a call on Wed giving me a repair estimate. In addition to the belt replacement, asked for a complete tune up, replace the blades, and check the other belts for wear and replace. Land and Coats called me with an cost of repairs and time frame on Tuesday. Received a call on Thursday the mower was ready and could schedule deliver the 1st of next week. Received a call on Friday morning said the mower could be delivered that afternoon. I was so pleased with the customer service. It was a pleasure to have a company follow up with me versus me having to make repeated calls to obtain information. Job well done

Taken 2 pieces of equipment in for repairs. A lawnmower, I swear they never touched as it ran the same as when I took it in. A weedeater that lasted 2 weeks. Their response ... Thanks for the money!!! UPDATE>> Took back 1 item and was repaired at no cost. Bumped to 2 stars. Summer delays need to be addressed. Not many people can go without their equipment in the summer for long periods of time. Understood that summer is a heavy time for them but need to adjust to the season. I ended up fixing the other item myself. Thanks for repairing the one.

Good and Bad. Nice guys at the counter and they do try to help. Phone service is bad, they hang up on you or never pick up or transfer you and they just leave you hanging. Also, we needed a blade the Saturday after the hurricane Florence came to shore, for some reason they were closed when we needed them most and hardly a sprinkle of rain and no wind. the hurricane was far south.

Purchased 54 Raptor in October 2017. Two months ago Land and Coates rated a 5 star review. Their product knowledge is 2nd to none.With 40 hours on the machine the belt broke. Unfortunately, parts availability required me to visit the Virginia Beach store. NOW at 4.5 stars. On Aug 8th 2018, the machine was taken to the Chesapeake location and discovered the cause of failure was the tension pully. This repair (warranty work) I was told, would take approximately 2 weeks. Three weeks later (8/29) I was informed the cost to repair was over $200 and it would take 3 to 10 business days to complete. No problem, after all it is the busy season for lawn repairs. On 9/10/18 I checked again and was inform that generator repair was taking priority due to approaching hurricane. Now at 4 stars. After talking to other associates the service rep returned and informed me the part just came in that day. We are now down to 3 stars for dishonesty.Two payments later on the machine and still no machine or call as of (9/15/18).My question to the company owner or store manager is this: What other local business do you recommend I go for future repairs? Or... What will you do and how will you provide a repaired machine and reassurance providing me with confidence required for future business?

Biggest crooks in Chesapeake. Stay away. I purchased a bad carb from them for $85. They tell me in order to return it a service tech has to look at it to see if it’s bad , which cost one hour of his time ($80). So they sell me a bad part then charge me $80 to tell me it’s bad??

I purchased several pieces of equipment this past May from the Chesapeake Virginia location. I could have gotten a 10% discount from lowes that was one mile up,the road from there. The manager sold me on his good their customer service was and how they always take care of their customers that purchase equipment from them first. Well I bought into that sing and dance. I also purchased the extended warranty to boot. Well boy did I make a mistake. Our new lawn mower went out and we took it there on Monday. I called today and they havent even looked at it to see what is wrong and if we even qualified for a loaner. I just spoke with the manager and was told that this is their busy time if year and it could take weeks to get our problem resolved. He said as a business owner I should know how the sinner is and that you have to let your employees off for vacation. ( his arrogant ). I did tell him he should staff for that . He said Id I knew of any repair people to send them in. (Again arrogant) I spent over ten thousAnd dollars with them and could gave gotten it cheaper just a mile from there. If he was any kind of manager he would staff according to his busy season. He offered for us to come and pick up the more and that he would call another location and see if they could service us quicker. Seriously? I have now equipment up buy but I dint think I will ever be using land and Coates again. I have always used a repair service for my mowers here in Chesapeake and eithin a few days the equipment was repaired. Total mismanagement if you ask me. Terrible customer service after the sale. They were bending over backwards when trying to get my money.

I took my generator in to be serviced after it quit working. After several times between my husband & myself calling to get an update w/ no success, myself & brother went to the store to find out an update since we were not able to get anyone on the phone nor have anyone return our call. Since I had not had anything like that repaired, I asked the service mgr if he could give me some kind of an idea at what I may be looking at for repairs. He informed myself as well as my brother that in a worse case scenario, it would not be more then 400.00 dollars. so I gave him the ok to tear into the machine to further determine whether it was the cheaper fix or the 400 dollar fix. He informed me that he would call me the following Mon/Tues. Well, one week past that date, I called the store, left a msg in he morning & once again, no call.... So I once again went to the store. I was told that they had not yet looked at it but was getting ready to & I would receive a call the next day to let me know what they found. I did not get the call until 2 days later. That is when I was told that the total for repairs would be right at 800.00 dollars. (double what I was initially told) My husband & I went to the store, spoke w/ the service mgr where he informed us that he never remembered telling me the original quote, & that he doesnt remember any of his customers once they walk out of the door. Nice thing for a mgr to say. Just about that time, the store mgr (I assume) came over, hearing the conversation & interjected & said you dont have to get it repaired here at which time I replied & said... Im not.... I was lied to by the service mgr & left there paying that service fee, my machine in pieces & feeling like the mgr was mocking the situation. He was very smug & arrogant. The gentlemen that was actually in the service dept came out & showed us what had happened & I think he was the most professional of all of the people I dealt with. I will never do business w/ them again.. Horrible experience. Poor customer service.
