I dont give negative reviews in Google, I usually give 5 star reviews actually because I like supporting businesses that genuinely deserves it, but I am going to give my first 1 star here in Google so that they could do something to improve the customer experience.I love going to Sephora and the staff were always very helpful, friendly, and I always feel welcomed. This branch is the exception because of the shopping experience. I never felt so unwelcomed in a makeup store. 5 stars though for the cashier who was so nice, very welcoming, professional and she made my day. So she was the only exception amongst all the staff in there.I was in the store yesterday browsing for over 10 minutes, and no one even looked at my direction, nor even asked just very briefly if I need any assistance. I have to go to the front section where 2 beauty advisors were chatting amongst themselves, I asked this beauty advisor with braids about where to find this particular brand and she proceeded to dismiss me, not answer my question, ignored me and instead said hello to the incoming customer who just walked to the door. You can feel that they are picky with the customers they want to help. The other beauty advisor showed me in the right direction, but just briefly. I bought like 5 items all throughout the store and no one even bat an eyelash or even ask you how you are doing if you run into them. By this time, Ive been browsing all throughout the store for over 20 minutes already. I can tell they are selective in who they choose to assist. Because during those 20 minutes of walking on every aisle, most of the customers were assisted, except me.Looking at other reviews, apparently the other customers feel the same way as I do.The only person that saved my Sephora shopping experience was the cashier. I looked at my receipt to check her name, but unfortunately it doesnt state that. She is the epitome of what an ideal Sephora employee should be, just like what Ive experienced in other Sephora branches on other states, very friendly, helpful, smiling (even behind the mask) and very welcoming. Because of her I was thinking of not doing this review, but I decided to post this so that this branch should improve the beauty advisors attitude towards customer service, even if the people coming in, like me, who are not locals and just visiting Charlottesville will experience the same Sephora experience all over the U.S.Because of this experience, I finally decided I will write this review as well on the Sephora survey on the receipt that I always ignore.5 star customer service experience with that cashier on Sept. 4.1 star to the rest of the beauty advisors. You should make your customers feel welcome no matter what race they are.

Left without buying what I wanted because I was so annoyed that the sales associates wouldn’t leave me alone. Very obnoxious when you just want to browse and you know that they are eyeing you from across the store the entire time. This has happened multiple times to me. I got so fed up with being bothered that I left and didn’t even want to buy anything anymore. Sales associates need to learn to let customers be majority of the time they shop and not bug them the entire time with rambling and random comments and questions throughout your whole experience. All of this has gotten worse in light of Covid and this store is one of the only ones who isn’t moving forward in a positive direction now that Covid is getting better. Overall just not pleased with a few of my experiences at this specific store.

The customer service was fantastic. Wendy was very patient explaining the different products as she customized the experience for my particular needs. She suggested some great products for my skin type and gave me excellent suggestions on how to apply them. I never felt rushed. Wendy gave excellent service and is a wonderful human being. Ill definitely go back.

I’m currently in store getting my foundation color matched. Tyler has been incredibly kind and helpful! Even though he’s not an artist he has checked in every step of the way since I walked in the store. The artist that Tyler paired me with, Carla, is amazing. She took her time and really helped me find the best shade for me, and also took the time to apply it correctly with proper skin care beforehand. I’ve never been so impressed with a Sephora. Way to go guys and thank you so much!

In Cville... there are 2... ONLY go to the one inside the mall...great staff and service! Avoid the one inside JCPenney. Mr eyebrows used to be good... now hes just rude.

Needed last minute eyebrows done and some lipstick advice. Rosa did an amazing job on my brows even stayed late for me. I dont recall the lady who helped me with my lipstick but she was super nice and patient. First Sephora experience and I absolutely loved the staff at the Cville mall Sephora here. Will be coming back.

Sephora has a great selection because it is a company store. The Sephora in J.C. Penneys is limited on what they stock, however it limited stock is offset by the fact that you can accumulate Penneys points and rewards there. For selection and choices choose the larger Sephora. The store in the Charlottesville mall will be moving in the Fall to the shopping Center by Trader Joes.

I LOVE all Sephora makeup! I am a lipstick fanatic and I was looking for options that would stay on all day but would dry right away so I could kiss my sweet baby and she recommended Sephora brand and it just so happens that they had a holiday special 5 for $19 vs 1 for $14. On top of that my sister in law was looking for foundation that would work best with her skin tone and she didnt know what to do so the girl gave her a lot of samples to try!! We have a Sephora in Harrisonburg but this one is better!Just to clarify - I am not referring to the JCPenny Sephora.

Employees with more knowledge would be a good idea. I work at ULTA in Charlottesville and have had sooooo many people come in with awful makeup saying theyre coming from Sephora and asking me to please help them as they are so unsatisfied with the way they looked afterward...and I could see why. Eeeek. Step your game up!!
