Decent selection of instruments for beginners and intermediate. Came in to look at their selection of classical guitars and classical guitar music sheets. Selection of guitars was ok. If you’re a processional classical guitarist then you’ll probably be disappointed. Not many great selections of music sheet for classical guitar. Staff was helpful. Many other interesting instruments to choose from.

Overall a good experience. I initially placed an order online for a used instrument. Due to a mixup in the inventory the item wasn’t in stock. I was not informed of this, which was a bummer. I went to the local store after a few days of not hearing anything, and they confirmed the order was voided and a refund issued, which I did receive promptly. Now for the good part. The people in store were wonderful. They were all super helpful, and I was able to find another instrument within my price range of the same quality as the one that got cancelled. While I was checking out, their in house tech did a thorough check and tune up of the instrument without being asked. I was in and out of the store quickly, with exactly what I needed. So while I might not recommend their website, the store was great!

The products shown on their web pages are thoroughly described and include multiple photographs of the item, making it easy for me to make the right buying decision. The products always ship promptly with included tracking information and arrive well packaged to prevent accidental damage during transit. It is always a pleasure to shop for all my musical instruments and associated electronic gear at Sam Ash Music.

I was in just to shop guitars and find an ABY pedal for my guitar rig. The salesman was very helpful. Looked hard for one he thought they had. He found one on their system. It was better than the one I was looking for and Im glad I went with it. I live in Ohio and visit this store when I visit my son. I definitely recommend shopping here.

Staff was professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. They were willing to take time to educate and advise, not just to make a sale. I needed many different items. Almost all were in stock. I left with questions answered and confident of their support.

Sold a digital piano here. Inspection of instrument was quick but thorough, and they gave me a really fair price on it. Walked out with cash in about twenty minutes. Obviously it wasnt what Id get for a private sale, but miles better than dealing with Facebook marketplace. Absolutely would either buy or sell used instruments here again.

I went in to get an electric acoustic BassThey only had one in stock So Greg in guitars got online And got on the phone with a company in Florida They said they had one in stock It was returned with a broke tuner but all the tuners had been upgraded and offered a discount I said no Id rather not mess with that one so he got on phone with a different company And got me a different one when it got to me it had one different shaped and different color tuner and the only two controls on it didnt even work so Im guessing he wasnt counting on them to lie to him and I would never know I had got the returned one for the full price and fedx had left it on the edge of the side porch about to fall over and getting rained on if I hadnt called to see why it wasnt Delivered I never would have known it was there if it was there when I got back home what good would it have been well it wasnt any good when they shipped it anyway Ill keep the case I bought when I was there the bass was sent back and Ill probably just let them cancel my Sam Ash card for inactive use in a year TRUST IS A HARD THING TO GET BACK

Im sure there are some people there who want to help you here but Ive been there a handful of times looking for DJ gear and cant find one. This place is not for Djs. Its old, they dont price match (they found an excuse not to when I asked for it) and theyre not very friendly. Go online to find better prices and selection or to Guitar Center. I went to Sam Ash to buy my daughter a new guitar.I was greeted at front door not with a greeting of “hello” or “can I help You?”, but instead of a very loud and authorative “You need a mask to be in here” and held up Mecklenberg Mask order.When I politely explained I could not wear a mask due to a serious medical condition, he rolled his eyes at me and said it does not matter, I must have one no matter what or leave the store immediately.He was very loud and obnoxious about it and it was quite embarrassing.I do know the Mecklenburg county order does have an exemption for people with medical problem or disabilities.I tried to call the store and speak with a manager about issue with rude and and angry employee. But unfortunately, phone system glitches where you can’t speak to a live person.Hello Amazon?

Made an online purchase of an amp that arrived broken, out stock item , so I had to return for refund. No problems. They did ask me if would like to see what they had in store that might work for me , very helpful , I walked out with nice VOX that was used gear, but looked like new for a very fair price.

I recently purchased a portable PA box from Sam Ash. The in-store service was first-rate. The sales team knew their products and I got the PA system I needed for a great price. I later called for help in setting up the unit and found their after-sale service to be excellent as well.

Had a great experience working with Greg Johnson at my local store. He was, as always patient and helpful. He takes the time to help you find exactly the right guitar for you whether it is an acoustic or electric. His service is outstanding.

Unhelpful staff (more interested in talking to each other/playing same riff 100 times in a row than helping), limited selection of products, and awful music playing over store speakers. The only brand of guitar they carry any sizable stock of is Michael Kelly, which are mediocre at best. They had guitars selling new that have been out of production for years. Despite a humongous store, they have virtually nothing in there

I have shopped in the past and it was good a experience. This most recent time I was helped by associate Donnie (hope I spelled that correctly) he was professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. He processed my trade in and gave me a fair price for my stuff. He helped me decide on what equipment to purchase for my band, and answered any questions I had. I will definitely be coming back here for future purchases.

Larry, the manager and Donnie in Pro Audio, took more time to locate what I wanted and have it shipped to the store. They sent me tracking and and also followed up when they recieved it. Prices are extremely high compared to most online suppliers, especially with drum heads and sticks. The selection of cymbals was poor and there were next to no devent kits on display. Was very disappointed. Reminds me why I buy my gear from Sweetwater.

Store was dirty. Salesman sold me the wrong pc for my Mic. Glad I checked it in the car. Handed us mask with his dirty hands. No gloves on his hands and handing out mask . just stupid

I was shopping for an entry-level Fender acoustic and went to Sam Ash on a recommendation. I am so glad I did! I found a great deal on a FA-135CE (used but pristine) acoustic-electric. It came with a nice gig bag and an audio cable, too.The best part was the customer service experience. The guitar had a bad set of strings. Kylene, the sales associate in the acoustic guitars department was fantastic. She suggested a set of DAddario strings as a replacement, and even restrung it for me. One of the bridge pins was especially stubborn, so she called in a guitar tech to help. They worked gently but determinedly and was able to replace the high E string without a single scratch. The care she took was like her own guitar. I appreciate the extra effort and attention. I will definitely recommend this store.

While searching for a rare and limited Edition Gibson Hummingbird Pro 12 String, Sam Ash stores searched to find one for me in stock. The Charlotte store people held the guitar while I got financing in line and were very helpful in getting the guitar to me. Cant really say how much I appreciated all their efforts getting me a very rare guitar and a even more rare thing to get this level of customer service. Beyond words kind of happy.

SamAsh gives fair prices for trade ins (for a music store) and honors sales events sometimes after the sale is over. Greg in guitars will work overtime to research questions and find what you’re liking for. I appreciate him and the whole team!

Sam Ash corporate granted the company for which I work a gift certificate to purchase instruments/equipment for our music therapy program. I was interested in buying small speakers within the $100 amount allotted with the donation from corporate. The guy working in “pro sound” greeted me pretty quickly and was interested in why I was there until he saw I only had $100 to spend through the gift certificate. He did not ask me about any other equipment I had to purchase, as they were out of the speakers I wanted. When I had questions about the other items I needed, he seemed annoyed I was still there. At one point, he began to text someone on his cell phone as I was talking to him. When I figured out what I would buy instead, I noticed a difference in price online vs in store and asked if I was looking at a different product. He told me “I would have to take that up with Steve...not my department.” He was not friendly or helpful to me and made me want to walk out without using the gift certificate. At a bare minimum he should’ve been helpful and what I got instead was rudeness. He was uninterested in helping me and when he did engage with me, he was unfriendly and was clearly trying to get me to move on. I had simple questions and am knowledgeable about recording and music equipment as I am a musician of 25 years experience (12 years of which professional and make my full-time living from) and he treated me as if I didn’t deserve to be in the store. I don’t intend to go back to Sam Ash for anything.The front desk staff were friendly and that’s the only reason this review is not just one star

My boyfriend asked me to take one of his guitars to Sam Ash and see how much I could sell it for. I arrived at the store and the person at the front desk (older, white man with gray hair) asked me to put the guitar on the counter. I open the case and I explained that I wanted to see how much I could get for it (I had sold guitars in the past to Sam ash for some quick cash). He looked at the guitar and mentioned the type of guitar in the form of a question, to which I answered: I guess (I dont know anything about guitars) following that he asked if it was mine (a questions that I’ve never been ask before) which I honestly answered: no, I explained that it wasn’t mine, It was my boyfriend’s and that he sent me since he was at work. He closed the guitar case and he said that - I couldnt sell it because that guitar wasn’t mine (which is not true, since it is not the first guitar I have sold to the store without my boyfriend). He also made up a story about having a problem with some guy that sold a boyfriend’s guitar without permission (very situational story btw). I didn’t want to start an argument about that and I asked instead - what time they closed - since my boyfriend could come after work to which he continued saying that: the guitar was not what they wanted to buy these days and that I should try to sell it in other retailers or in a pawn shop “down the street”. I was shocked I was feeling treated like a child selling a stolen guitar. I began to understand that it didnt matter what I could say the answers would be always negative (since it was the second way he denied me the sale). I work in customer service and that is not the way to treat customers who even try to return stolen merchandise, much less in a store where the sale of products is followed by taking documents etc. I have no idea who this man is manager or sales associate he needs to be removed from his position at the front desk since he doesn’t know how to treat customers at all.

As a recreational guitarist my instrument purchases need to strike a balance between quality and cost. After researching numerous brands and models I finally decided upon the guitar I wanted. I searched numerous web sites, Amazon, Craigs list, and local independent music stores. I eventually identified the precise guitar I wanted to purchase on a Sam Ash listing. The quantity and quality of photos along with the extensive write-up left nothing to my imagination. Unfortunately this guitar (despite being an exceptional value) exceeded my guitar budget and I resolved myself to keep an eye on it and hope there would be a price deduction or promotional discount in the near future. After a week of finger crossing I decided to call the store where the guitar was and spoke to Larry G. in Charlotte. After a short and pleasant conversation it seemed the guitar was still outside my budget and I began to think it was time to start looking for another guitar in a lower price range. I was surprised the next day to get a call from Larry outlining some options to help get me the guitar I want. We arrived at a deal that worked for me and I was able to make the purchase.The most amazing aspect of my Sam Ash experience is that throughout the process I was afforded a level of attention that I would have associated with someone spending several thousands of dollars on a guitar.....my guitar purchase was important to me...but I realize it was a minor transaction in Larrys day, but he made me feel as though I was the most important customer he was dealing with. Your best bet in the city if you are a musician looking for a decent beginner or good advanced tool of your trade. They have dozens of guitars on display that you can play including acoustic, basses and the 7 & 8 strings gaining popularity... Normally you might see a store with *a* drum set on display, they have 10 here. DJ and event lighting covers much of the space. Not just for the rock bands, You can get school band instruments here. Mixing boards, sheet music, reeds, instrument cables, drum heads, and maybe even a Zither if you look close enough.

Never had any issues with them. Always professional. Always had what I needed.

Always someone of knowledge has helped me and every time they have found me something actually less expensive than I expected. This time a complete drum kit!! Wife hates me coming here, but I love this place, and even she cant complain about the deals I get!!

Went to Guitar Center first looking for an Alesis Nitro Mesh Drum set as they had a sale going on. They were out of stock in store. Went to Samash.com and noticed they showed to have them in stock. Got there and was greeted quickly and told them what I was looking for and if the priced matched. They said yes and it was in stock, theyd just have to verify the sale price. Left with the drum set I was wanting and without hassle even having it brought out to my car.

However, as soon as we entered Sam Ash, we were greeted. We walked to the guitar section and someone met to help us within about a minute. He showed us guitars, but didnt push anything. We told him what we were looking for and he gave us a few options. He reminded us to grab a tuner and even found one for us when the usual spot was empty. We left with a guitar and tuner and felt very good about our purchase.

I have had a couple good experiences in this place many years ago.. But my latest visit here will be my last time walking through their doors.. I walked in and was reluctantly greeted by an older blonde/grayish haired gentleman sitting near the front door.. Immediately I got the vibe from him that said What do you want and why are you here wasting my time?.. They buy and sell used equipment and I had some studio electronics that I wanted to see if they were interested in.. And that is perfectly fine if you dont want or need my stuff, no hard feelings man.. But there is a certain way that a potential customer should be handled and taken care of.. And this guy failed miserably.. I didnt know if this guy was the owner, the manager, or just a sales associate, I dont know and I dont care.. He was extremely dismissive about anything I had to say.. I quickly realized that this guy doesnt have a clue what real customer service is all about.. As soon as I realized that it was actually me wasting my own time with this guy and not the other way around, I walked out as quickly as I could.. It will be a cold day in H-E double hockey sticks before I ever step foot in that place again.. I hope he is happy with the way he treats people.. Good luck with that..

I use to love this store until covid hit now its like a ghost town on products. Ive been looking for The Rode Nt2a microphone for months now & at this point my passion for music is slowly dying out thinking were entering a new way of life that i honestly believe will be permanent. I cant afford to keep dropping hundreds of dollars per session in a professional studio through a pandemic where we need damn near every penny.

They had what I needed and friendly staff to help too. I know retailers like this are in trouble these days, but man is it nice to go pick an instrument up in the store and actually be able to TALK to someone and ask them questions!!!

Store was a mess. Drum section was deserted. I was needing a cymbal stand and only 2 were on display and they were exactly the same. Had to go online and look up the model numbers for the ones that were boxed up in the corner before I could make a selection. Damn shame.
