Excellent staff, beautiful atmosphere. Lots of pedals I’ve never seen in person. The padded church pews right in front of the wall of pedals to try make for a very enjoyable buying experience. The only thing the store was lacking was large full sized amp heads and 4x12 cabinets (which is to be expected) but they had everything else covered combo amp and pedal wise.

This was the greatest music store experience we’ve had! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are fair. This was our first stop at Midwood, but certainly won’t be our last.

Don’t go to any other music store if you need anything guitar related. Best experience I’ve ever had at a music store. The store is very nice, the workers and down to earth, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Definitely a place to check out.

This was the best experience Ive ever had in a guitar store. I called earlier in the day surprised I found a player series Fender in their online shop. The man I spoke with went to check it was in shop and I came in later that day. First, the shop is beautiful, with a very chill vibe, literal church pew seating and all. I mentioned I had called earlier, and Alex, who I worked with, was like oh yeah the other guy tweaked some things on it earlier, you want to go play it? He led me back to a quieter room, brought me an amp, answered my questions, and was overall just a very friendly and helpful person. I said Id take the guitar, and while the other guy in the back changed the strings, I chatted with Alex. Found out some history of the shop, which seems to be a small, locally run operation that values customer experience over volume. Guitar came out looking like a million bucks and I havent put it down since. There are a couple of issues that youre going to have with any new instrument, one (or 1.5) dead frets and the tone knob sticks a bit, but nothing Im sure playing in plus a fret polishing wouldnt fix. Plus, Alex said if I was around hed be happy to take a look at anything I need. Great service, and for being a generally a higher end shop, I was impressed with how exceptionally fair the prices were! Plus, they threw in a free hat, which, cmon, is just icing on the cake. GC would track your whole family down for a missing pic. Go here. Great place. 10/10 would recommend.

A few months before the pandemic I discovered this gem of a guitar shop while visiting our daughter in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood. I have been playing bass most of my adult life and was thinking of going back to playing guitar. Walking into Midwood Guitar Studio I knew this is where I was going to buy a new guitar. Every guitar displayed on their brick masonry walls was hand chosen for its build quality, sound and beauty. I had never hear of PRS guitars, but as soon as I put one into my hands, I knew I was playing a quality instrument. The staff was incredibly patient with my indecisiveness and coming back to browse over the course of our visit. There was no pressure, but they told me the history of the company and professional musicians who use the brand. I came back two or three times to play and just eye a particular model. I talked with my wife about the idea of purchasing one but I kept going back and forth about the decision. Well, she made the decision easy! She bought it for my birthday a few months from then (actually the first day of the pandemic shutdown in CA). I am so grateful to her and MGS for introducing me to this guitar. I have played it constantly this last year and it continues to give me great joy and pleasure. The staff was incredible prior to and during the purchase process. Afterwards they helped with various playing questions. Fast forward 16 months - and I still love this instrument. We drove across the county to visit our daughter this month and I took the guitar in for restringing. I was so happy to know they made it through the pandemic. They not only restrung the guitar but also did a thorough inspection to make sure everything was in order. I was nervous buying out of state and over the internet but they processed my order as soon as they opened. Then they let me know when it shipped and a tracking number.With Fed Ex having some delays, I got nervous about Fed Ex when the package was late by a few days. A quick e-mail to Midwood Guitar Studios, they had contacted their Fed Ex rep and the package was delivered the next day.I absolutely love my new amp. Its the friendliness, professionalism and care that Ive received from these folks that have made me a repeat customer.My only regret is that I live on the west coast. I was on a day trip to the Charlotte area to visit some music stores, and Midwood was our first stop. They had a beautiful Gretsch Electromatic Jet in stock, and they had the knowledge to provide me with a lot of useful information about the guitar. I didnt buy it initially because we were visiting some other stores later. But the place had such a great vibe that even though I found the same guitar at other stores, at the end of the day I returned to Midwood to purchase the guitar from them.At Midwood I experienced friendly and knowledgeable service. The inventory was fantastic with a lot of variety to look at and choose from. The atmosphere in the store was very relaxed and chill but still professional.I would recommend Midwood Guitar Studio to anyone, and I look forward to shopping there again in the future.

What an amazing bunch of people! I bought a guitar from Midwood and it was shipped to Florida. It played beautifully but had an issue with the pickup system. They were very apologetic and promptly sent a paid in full return label. Super cool guitar shop with a great selection of amps, pedals, and of course guitars. I recently purchased a Maton EBW808 Solid Australian Blackwood Guitar from the wonderful folk at MGS. I dealt directly with the store manager, a truly honest, friendly fella and Customer Service All-Star, named Matt Anthony. I have been acquiring music gear online for decades and I wouldnt blow smoke and cause another musician to be taken advantage of because I have had that experience. I had a couple of difficult logistical problems that MY life added to the purchase. Matt totally took them in stride AND gave me technically specific advice on this beautiful guitar AFTER I received it! Ask yourself, when was the last time you got either of those, anywhere? Nuff said! I have wanted a Maton Blackwood Guitar since I first played one while living in OZ. The tone rivals Rosewood the beauty exceeds it (your mileage may vary). Simple the best customer service I have ever received from a guitar shop. Alex at Midwood Guitar Studios took care of me as if I was his only customer. I had placed a pre-order for a Pre*War Guitars Company Model D, and Alex provided excellent communication between email, text updates and phone calls, even on his days off. When the guitar came in he sent me pictures and a video of my guitar to make sure everything about the guitar was what I wanted. They shipped it out the day it came in and when it was delivered it was packed better than any guitar I had shipped to me before by anyone else.When you spend your hard earned money, you want to have that extra insurance of someone who will look out for your interests, and make sure you are happy. You also want them to do everything possible to make sure what you bought arrives to you packaged perfectly. This is especially true with buying instruments. Alex and Midwood did all of that. I am a customer for life.

I cant say enough good things about my experience with Midwood Guitar Studio. I was looking for a Martin dreadnought that had the It factor...one that was truly special. I live 3.5 hours from Charlotte, so Sage personally tested out at least 5 different dreds they had in stock and found a D-18 that blew him away. He even sent audio clips, just went above & beyond. He gave me a killer deal on it and even had their luthier do a setup & strap button installation for me. They packed it very securely and it arrived on my doorstep in 1 days time. I have to say - it truly is a special guitar. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. This place has superior customer service and Ill 100% do business with them again. First, let me get this out of the way: Midwood is the most beautiful guitar shop Ive ever walked into. The guys there are super friendly and helpful. The culture they are creating around this shop is exciting. Charlotte is lucky to have them.But most of my business has been with their luthier/co-owner, Craig Landau. Craig is a world-class luthier. His eye, when looking at a guitar, does not miss a thing. His work, is meticulous and incredibly impressive.I recently picked up a guitar that was getting some work done, and Craig went out of his way to create a custom compensated bone saddle, on top of the other fine work he performed. I am sure it is a combination of everything he did, but my guitar has come to life. It absolutely rings now! I am a lifelong customer.

MGS is a terrific, boutique guitar shop, located in a beautifully restored masonry building in the heart of the historic neighborhood Plaza Midwood in Charlotte. The area has a long and vibrant music scene. MGS carries both high-end and affordable electric and acoustic guitars, basses, amps and other equipment. When I walked in there for the first time, it felt like I was in an art gallery of musical instruments. I just walked around and admired the beautiful, hand-made, wood instruments on display. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They back all their equipment with terrific customer service and repair. They are community-based business that holds events with local artists and companies. I bought my new (PRS) guitar there and Matt made the experience fast and easy. Although I live in NoCal, MGS will be my go-to guitar shop. I like to support small businesses - they are the backbone of the industry.
