Stopped by to buy 5 yards of fabric. 3 GDC people were upstairs in fabric section and not one person spoke to me or offered assistance. Headed over to the Mt Pleasant fabric stores.

I recently shopped for fabric at the West Ashley GDC store to reupholster my antique sofa and gooseneck rocker. These two special pieces of furniture belonged to my grandmother and are very special to me and my family. However, I had seen a really updated example of furniture on Anthropologie using several patterns and colors on a piece. Heather assisted me with the fabric choices and was so patient when I had trouble making up my mind on colors and types of fabrics that would look fantastic together. It seemed so difficult to come to the final choices. I am so appreciative of Heather’s knowledge of fabric and pattern, fabric quality and quantities. What could have been a long and frustrating process was made smooth and pleasant, thanks to her.

Quite an interesting store. They have an assortment of wonderful fabric. The entire staff I encountered was friendly(West Ashley). The experience was very pleasant😊

GDC Home on Sam Rittenburg Boulevard in West Ashley as one of my favorite places to go for furniture and home items. They have really good quality items that really go well with just about anything that you are trying to accomplish. The staff here is very attentive and accommodating at making sure that all of your furniture goals are accomplished.

Very nice store. Much better than the one in Mount Pleasant! People were nice and asked if we needed any assistance. Love The Eclectic different kinds of furniture that they have very one-of-a-kind and unique

Great fabrics decor band atmosphere. Wonderful vignettes in style and furnishing. Everyone on staff is a bit snobbish and Im uncomfortable with that. Great selection..

The things I have bought from GDC have been gifts for friends whose homes I was visiting. Each time the staff was very helpful and also gift wrapped the items. However, the one person that works at GDC that I have found the most helpful has been Allen Phillips, one of their interior designers (he also does all of their displays). When we moved to Kiawah he helped me sort though all of our things, decide what to re-upholster, what colors to paint the walls, how to place the furnishings and came up with the most creative picture hanging arrangements. He then helped me once again when we downsized and when we moved my parents. He is nonjudgmental, and is a calming influence. He made old pieces fit in with new, and never once made me feel that I had no decorating sense. If my husband and I disagreed on where to place certain things, Allen was able to calmly guide us in the right direction. Without Allen I would have been lost. He measured and planned where everything would fit, and even came on the day of the move to make sure the movers placed everything just right. In my work as a realtor, Allen has been able to guide me and my clients in color selections and furniture arrangement to make homes easier to sell. Clients who have purchased a home have used Allen to help them furnish it and all have been very happy with his work.GDC, you better hang on to him!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with GDC Home in Charleston. I could outfit my entire house from this one location. Everything from patio furniture to rugs to bedding to furniture was in one building. The knowledgeable and friendly staff made the experience a very positive one. I would recommend this place to anyone whether they are starting from scratch or just looking for a few unique pieces. Definitely a must-see stop for anyone in Charleston looking for upscale interiors.

GDC always has amazing displays. I could get lost in their stores just looking at all the beautiful things/furniture and set ups! The products are unique and one-of a kind. I know they only purchase a few of each piece so that everyone will have something different...I love that!Their staff is super friendly and super smart when it comes to design...which is so helpful.So happy to have a store that sells quality products that doesnt break and will stand the test of time. Furniture like this is what you will hand down from generation to generation!

What I love about GDC staff is they are attentive and engaging when you need them, but respect my desire to wander, explore and get inspired on my own when thats my preference. And there are so many beautiful things to see. Im never disappointed. They always keep the showroom full of fresh new ideas and quality products. I highly recommend you shop GDC!

GDC is your one-stop shop, without a doubt the largest selection and most talented staff I have found. We have worked with Allen for many years on multiple projects and he never seems to run out of ideas or patience! Everyone has always been so helpful and the results are never less than stunning. Just let them know what you need and it will be found! Or something even better, usually in my case!

WOW! I must say, I have bought many pieces of furniture from here and have never had any issues, until I bought this one couch (Ive bought 3 couches from here and only had issues with 1 of them). The couch had some structural integrity issues and was very uncomfortable, but Jonathan took care of the issue for me and made sure it worked with my schedule and all. I HIGHLY recommend the staff here. Definitely Look for Jonathan Strader! He will take good care of you before and after the buying process, which is the sign of a great rep for life! I will definitely be back. Thanks again!

LOVE GDC. The furniture is beautiful and well made. I have some pieces in my home that I purchased from GDC 20 years ago that are still in amazing shape! ( you get what you pay for!) The staff is always helpful and friendly, but not pushy. DEFINITELY my go to store when shopping for nice furniture!!

I see that some other reviewers have had negative experiences with the staff, but I have been several times and that has never been the case when Ive been. I should specify I go to the one in West Ashley.The staff is great and nice even if you dont buy anything. Plus their inventory is diverse but classic, with a huge variety and for the most part reasonably priced.

The quality of GDC home goods is exceptional. I cant believe I waited so long to explore there products. The staff was so knowledgeable and friendly I didnt hesitate to ask questions. Now that Ive had this experience I cant imagine starting anywhere else for my design needs.

I visited GDC Home last time I was in the Charleston area, and even though I was just “window shopping,” the staff was very friendly. And I can’t say enough about the aesthetics and quality of the furnishings! I spent a lovely hour browsing and imagining how I might use some of the furniture, rugs, accessories and fabrics if I had a home in the area. Thanks, GDC!

As a big fan and frequent customer of GDC on Kiawah, Im astonished by the poor customer service at the West Ashley location. The store is beautiful and spacious. Love the offerings; however, Ive visited 3 times - today definitely for the last time - and the staff is indifferent, self-absorbed and not at all welcoming or helpful. I must be spoiled by the lovely and always professional staff on KI who are attentive, knowledgable and personable.The West Ashley staff lack basic good manners which is completely unacceptable. Today, I stood right in front of a young woman at the front desk who looked straight at me, saw I was waiting to ask a question yet continued her inane conversation with the young woman sitting next to her. The last time I visited, a young woman who was training a new employee at the register, rang up my purchase placed it in a bag and handed it to me without saying one word or heaven forbid cracking a smile. A company offering high quality pieces and services to many loyal customers needs to employ quality individuals who are courteous, professional and engaged. You never know which customer could be your next big client on a major project. Then again, do you really care? So disappointing.

Just walked around the store where at least 5 employees were staring at me from the counter. Not one offered to help and said bye when I was leaving. I liked the selection but will take my business elsewhere, I have not seen such treatment even in chain retailers.

Ive been to GDC Home in both West Ashley and Mt Pleasant on several occasions, and each time I have been helped by pleasant and knowledgeable staff. The quality and vast selection of furniture and accessories always draws me back. Its a great place

GDC is my go to place for anything home. They have a wide selection of furniture, wall art, linens, rugs, as well as a full design department. I always find inspiration at GDC and am always greeted by their helpful, friendly staff!

GDC is a great store with wonderful furniture, interesting accessories, a huge rug department and a design staff that is very attentive and creative. I spent an afternoon with Caty DeLaigle. Great store with amazing finds from furniture to prints and candles. The experience was a bit uncomfortable with the lady at the counter as she just came off as a bit rude and undermining of other staff in the store. Therefore I would say 2 stars for cashier experience but 5 for everything else!

The inventory they have is very nice but extremely over priced. We had a near impossible time getting help in the fabric section and an employee hovered around us as we looked in the main floor. Its a very uncomfortable environment to shop in. I suggest going and see what you like to find better deals elsewhere.

Beautiful store and great products! Love the unique and local products as well. Visit the Kiawah Island store. It is the best! My favorite gifts from there are the Rewined candles! I bought several for Christmas gifts.

GDC is one of my favorite local stores for fabric and home goods. The salespeople are creative, knowledgeable and helpful in navigating GDCs wide selection of furnishings and accessories!

Ive been searching around town trying to find furniture for my apartment and this place has to be THE worst place Ive been too. Some of the items look nice but theyre extremely over priced. Also all of the employees were unfriendly. Not once did they even greet or speak to any customers.
