Best macaroons, even beating Disney! Go if you have a chance, their hours are limited, so snag some of you have a chance. Good wine, too, especially if youre staying in a hotel nearby! The best picture I could snap was one of the last macaroons before it was eaten!!!!

Macaroon Boutique on John Street in Charleston has amazing French pastries and desserts that are definitely worth the visit and the taste. We HAVE to stop in this place every time we are in Charleston. The owner is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about food and wine and we are never disappointed with his recommendations. As great as the croissants are, the chocolate sea salt cookies are amazing too. He also just started offering these little molten chocolate bell-shaped cakes that I wish I had bought all he had. Wonderful place and we cant wait to go back!

Best croissants in the South! Plain, chocolate, or delicious almond filled. Flaky and buttery, just perfect. Obviously great macaroons, everything is hand made fresh on location, nothing frozen. Also they have an eclectic selection of hard to find French wines for sale. Dont miss the Macaroon Boutique on your trip to Charleston

The sweet gentleman who owns the shop saved my wedding day!! We had a macaroon disaster from another place and the owner here gave me his orders and made more just to help! We had the cutest and tastiest pink and white macaroons we used as are escort cards with our guests names on them. They were such a hit! Everyone wanted more macaroons! I will never go to another macaroon boutique ever, best in Charleston.

We were lured in by the incredible smell of the croissants. The proprietors amazed us with their knowledge of the products (all made in-house) and particularly with their knowledge of how to serve and decant wine. They are utterly delightful people and will be on our must do list every time we come to Charleston.

I smelled Macaroon Boutique about 7 years ago as I walked down King Street and it has been my favorite place to get a treat in Charleston ever since. The couple who owns the shop are lovely - when I was in college, they would send me home with extra croissants and always greeted me with a smile. After I moved away, they would still remember me when I came home to visit. More importantly: these are the best croissants and the BEST raspberry macaroons I have ever had in my life. If youre looking for a place to go and lounge around and have people wait on you - this isnt your spot. But if youre looking for amazing french treats then look no further.

Spent 15.00 on 3 croissants a chocolate almond and 2 almond well these are like no other croissant I have ever had before no delicious buttery layers it was like eating a buttery cake with the texture of cake. Not saying that these people believe in their own products but I am saying their idea of a croissant is uniquely there own. I personally felt that these looked like a croissant from the outside but inside was cake I felt deceived if I wanted cake I would have ordered that just my take.

Dont buy any wine here, its a total rip off. they double price the cheap wines, and the owner pretended to sell this as good wines(his French identity made you believe). Just do some research about the wines they sell, its pretty poor quality after we tried them at home. We bargained a bit, the owner pretended he lost money for offering us a chance to try good wines...

The woman that runs this place looks like she sucks on lemons. The worst attitude! I felt like I threw my money down a toilet. She doesnt greet or smile. I dropped over $25 on about 6 macaroons and some cookies. Exorbitant! wouldnt have felt bad about it except she gave us nothing but dirty looks while we were in there. And scoffed when we asked about the products. What gall!! She needs to go back to France or learn Southern hospitality if she plans to stay....hope its the former. Let France have her back.

My absolute favorite place to go for maccaroons in SC and GA! The mango maccaroon was fabulous! However the chocolate almond croissant was incredible! It is one of the best pastries Ive ever had!! The shop was charming and I love the authentic French feel it has. It doesnt feel like just another American bakery. The owner was so friendly and takes pride in his creations! A friend and I were visiting Charleston for YALLfest and saw Macaroon that day, but didnt have time to stop in. The next day was a Sunday, and we wanted to be up and around early. Most places didnt open for Brunch until 10 or 11am. We hoped Macaroon would be open for some pastries. They werent- but the owner let us in anyway! He was so kind to us. The Macaroons were very good, and I loved my chocolate croissant.

The real deal. You can smell the croissants baking as you approach the door. The Parisian owner makes them throughout the day to ensure freshness. They are perfectly crispy, and the chocolate-almond ones have a balanced amount of filling. The macarons are the best Ive ever tasted, great texture and filled with heavenly buttercream icing. My husband and I have compared this bakery to others in Charleston, and it wins, hands down.

The texture was okay, I would give it a b. The filling like whipped cream flavors very light and very little flavor, not my favorite kind of fillings. My main complaint with the shop is that for 3.25/cookie you should be able to pick what flavors you want. This was one of most expensive macarons I have had (and I have had many all over the world), it was not deserving of that price.

Come here for the best chocolate almond croissants. They are crispy, flakey, and buttery with the perfect amount of chocolate. Topped with toasted almonds and powdered sugar. Yum! I will make it a point to come back here the next time I visit Charleston. Merci beaucoup!

Horrible customer service. They could have the best macaroons ever and I would refuse to go there because of how poorly I was treated. I brought my 3-year-old with me and he began to lift the glass case in the front of the store that covers the macaroons. I saw what he was doing, told him no, dont do that please then began to lower it. He had it raised maybe 2 inches before I saw him. The woman running the store starting waving her arms yelling very tersely, what are you doing! what are you doing! Then she switched to speaking a foreign language (French I think), and kept screaming at us in another language while waving her arms in the air with a nasty expression on her face. My 3-year-old started crying and she just yelled more.I was confused by the whole exchange and we just walked out.I can understand being upset he touched something you dont want him to...but hes 3. I stopped him the second I noticed. A please dont let him touch that would have sufficed. I will never visit this shop and I go to that area of downtown about 1-2x/week and always buy a treat. If youre in the area looking for a sweet treat go to Cupcakes Down South instead of this place. Super friendly, always telling my kiddo and I to have a good day, and they dont yell at us.Plus for $3/cookie the macaroons are crazy expensive!

I love this place! Macaroon Boutique has the best croissants Ive had in Charleston. The last time I went, I tried the madelines, and they were delicious. I dont even like madelines, and I liked these. Fortunately, each time Ive gone there, Ive had excellent service. When I said I cant eat chocolate, he offered to make up a special bag of macarons for me. I think part of the issue may be cultural. Charleston is known for southern hospitality, and the owners are French. While they arent rude, they are NOT Charleston friendly, and Im okay with that.

The Pastries (Croissant Rolls) deserve 5 Stars. The best rolls Ive tried in my life. Flaky, Warm, Crunchy, Scrumptious... And deliiiicious.... The perfect combination of them all. That said, I did also purchase some Macaroons, and if I remember correctly 6 Macaroons were about $14..?A bit on the expensive side..The one thing I would say is definitely worthy are those freshly made rolls. But!!!!For the $14 you also get the Macaroons packed neatly into a box and a cute bag, great for gifts and you can save the hassle of packing! If I wouldve tried finding equal quality gift packaging at say Walgreens or Walmart, it wouldve ended costing me about $3... I did talk with the owner of the store for a bit and she says she makes them fresh there, creme and everything~But again......... I vouch for the french bakery theme of this shop! If youre going, get yourself a fresh Croissant Roll (Chocolate was the best for me :) )The small custard (?) bites they sold neatly about 5 pieces in a bag were also quite good, but overshadowed by the croissant rolls.. Still, think of them like Flan, with an outer layer thats firmerOh.. And the owner of the store, the person who attended me was a real charming lady. I had questions about most of the goods, including some large moulds she seems to have out for chocolate, etc. And she answered all of them with a smile. This woman loves what she does!!It also seems that the other nearby shops are on friendly terms with the owner and her husband.Honestly, the other reviewer that mentioned she was a sour lady.. I have no idea where hes coming from.If you like Croissant rolls, stop by this shop, theyre large and about $3 a pop. If you want a cute gift, and dont mind investing a bit, get yourself an order of macaroons and ask for packaging. If you love, love, love Vanilla Custard... They also have something for you!!Lastly, I heard from the owner that they accept requests for Chocolate .. Erm.. I dont know how to say it but during Easter, etc. they have for example large chocolate moulds of bunnies to make for parties and other activities... Inquire at the shop to know more!
